Coming from Chicago, we have gone on a quest for a great Gyro sandwich.
Sebastian's came highly recommended, but after eating their sandwich, I can say I am disappointed.
On the good side, the meat was good, moist and not over cooked, which is a common problem. Also, the pita was soft and tasted fresh...many times they are dry and break apart.
The problem: these sandwiches are so small I could eat three (and I am not that big), there were more tomatoes than meat.
Very disappointed.
Plus note: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH!!!
Sebastian's has been a family favorite since  I was growing up right down the street. We used to come here with my grandma and grandpa. My favorite is always a Gyro with all the fixings and a fry and for dessert bakavla.
Alex is the owner and "Chef" and runs the restaurant with his wife Sue and his daughters. The restaurant usually is closed a few weeks during the year so he can go back to Greece and catch up with his family.
If you haven't been yet, this is a must visit for anyone in Cincinnati.
Just beware they only take Cash!
So I had never had a gyro before. Greek had just never sounded appealing to me and now I feel quite ashamed of myself as to have missed out on this delicious food my whole life. My friend ended up bringing me here for lunch and I had a run of the mill plain gyro with feta and from first bite I was hooked. I must say that I was not expecting such awesomeness on a pita but have since rescinded my view and shall be returning very very soon for some more. Oh and they are very friendly and its great service!
