Definitely one of the lamer bars in Denver. Fairly expensive food and though they have some good deals, the drinks can also be more expensive than they appear. My friends ordered shots of whiskey with a side of ice..which they assumed would be a shot of whiskey and a side of ice. Instead they got the ice and whiskey already put together. And instead of paying the price of the shot as listed in the menu, they had to pay a higher price because it was considered "more alcohol," even though they were not informed of this and no bar I've heard of charges more for basically ice. Ridiculous.

The service was also ridiculous with our sever unable to take more than a few orders at once and basically really slow and not able to clarify anything. I had to ask for water multiple times and she got my side order wrong, for example. I know that we had a lot of people in our party, so I can excuse some of this, but not the patronizing tone she gave my friends when her mistake led to them being overcharged.

In general this place is just so fake and corporate and presented as here is what our focus group thinks a Irish bar should look like. There are so many better ones in Denver, even in downtown. No reason to bother with this one.

Great appetizers, enjoyed the live band!  Plenty of room to accomodate the company party.  Ping pong tables on patio.  Easy access to parking.

Somehow I always forget about Fados until the annual Santa Pub Crawl. But each year at this time, I am reminded how much I love this place! The layout is great with two separate bars, and a sweet little stage for live music. The patio is large and a great place to grab some grub before a game at Coors Field. There aren't a lot of quality Irish bars downtown (in my opinion), so if you're looking for a good one, head straight to Fados!

Not sure I'm totally into this place. I mean the crowd, the lack of parking, it's location, but then again I can see how it can be a popular destination before a game. I came here to watch a soccer game on TV. The place was packed! The bartender and server were absent for long periods of time. The prices? I don't know, I never pay for my drinks but it was a tasty moscow mule :)

Before a Rockies game, this is the tradition...a nice cold Guinness and some great banter from the staff.

Usually very crowded on game day.

Food was excellent and the service was good both times we visited. I recommend visiting on a non-rockies game Monday so you can hear the weekly Irish session.

It was somewhat confusing walking in because there is nobody to seat people. Once we found a place to sit and were waited on, it was great. The food was really good. I had the Shepherd's Pie & my wife had the Irish Breakfast. Overall, it was a good experience.

Fado might be the restaurant I've been to the most, but that is from the childhood of going for music sessions. It was a little heartbreaking to go in and hear dance music, and not an older gent and his friends playing jigs, but times change. I do hope this crowd visits still as it was a favorite of my childhood.
I was also sad to see that there wasn't apple crisp of the menu anymore, but the bread pudding was so good I didn't regret it.
I do suggest leaving at the 8th or 9th inning so you don't get swarmed by people are stuck in traffic driving home. Bleh.

We shared a half order of fish and chips and a pear and gorgonzola salad and both were great! The salad had some yummy candied walnuts and the wedge cut chips were drool-worthy.
Will be back, it had been years between our visits!

We stopped in here the other night again.  It was busy as always just before a Rockies game.  The food was great as usual and I had the lamb french dip again.  It is delicious and I definitely recommend it.

The service is good.  Our waiter was constantly checking on us without jumping in and being the center of attention.  He was definitely on top of things.  The only thing that I have to gripe about was the timelyness of getting our food.  We allowed ourselves just over an hour before the game to get the food here.  We order literally an hour from game time.  We had a drink while we waited for the food.  After waiting 40 minutes, I asked the waiter what the status of our food was.  Maybe he didn't remember to put it in, because we saw a few other people get their food faster than we did.  Either way, it took about 5 minutes after asking him to get our food.  I didn't want to be pushy, but after 40 minutes, we had to either get the food or head to the game.

We got the food with barely enough time, and other than the slow food, we had great service.

    So much potential.

Being an Irish bar, we were sure they would have many gluten free offerings considering that Ireland has one of the highest populations of Celiacs.  We even emailed the restaurant and got a reply from one of the assistant managers that many things on the menu were gluten free or could be made gluten free with a substitution.  The server made my date feel so uncomfortable about what is and is not gluten free, that he actually left the restaurant to eat at Jax while my parents and I ordered.

The bar reminds me of O'dowds Irish Pub in Kansas City; or actually it reminds me of any corporate chainy Irish pub.  Dark woods, random decorations, and musty smell.  We had to move tables because our first booth was designed for someone with 10 foot arms and we didn't want to be spilling our food all night.

The food was actually pretty decent for bar food if you take out the Cheese Dip and Wedges.  Save yourself $9 and heat up some Velveeta and chips in your microwave. Fish and chips were tasty - not overly greasy, lightly battered, fresh, white flaky fish.  Add some malt vinegar and they melt in your mouth.  The Pear and Bleu Cheese salad is also a good mixture of sweet, spicy, and cruncy without being overbearing.  I forgot to get the salad dressing on the side, but the poppyseed dressing was just the right amount and not overly drenched in dressing like most bars.

Our server was also the bartender, so we didn't get a lot of attention.  For Lodo, it's a reasonable price and value, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat or drink there again.

    Top Food Picks:
    Quesadilla
    Fish & Chips
    Nachos

This restaurant is our go-to before we hit the bars because the food is so good and it is always fun to sit on the patio during the Rockies games and you can hear the fans cheer.

This is the place with my favorite quesadilla and the last time I was there, which was on good friday, i ordered the fish and chips- and now I know what I want to order next time. It was so good, and the batter was perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone for their drink selection and their food. The only dislike I have is that it is really dark inside, and some of the seat options are a bit awkward for groups.

I dont mind Fado but don't go here very often, mostly because everytime I have come here before it's always been so packed and crowded. It is a good location to hit up before a Rockies game, and most of the staff is nice on the eyes :-)
Decent Happy hour prices, good apps, and friendly service.

How strange I've never reviewed this joint.  I've been in here many a day and night and afternoon.  It's your typical chain Irish pub.  Deep, dark and not quite so mysterious.  One of my buddies bartends here, and the beers are good as is the Jame-o. (cause the beers and Jame-o are so different from other bars that serve the same)

Anyway, the food is decent for bar food, it's a great place to visit before or after a Rocks game, it's big, the service is good, (keep in mind my buddy is a bartender) and they offer live music of the Irish variety on occasional weekend nights.  They've also got a decent patio with heat lamps to keep you warm on those chilly fall and spring evenings.

This is a great pub for soccer and is in a great location.  It is nestled right behind Coors field and not a far walk from Union Station.

They have a large amount of beers on tap and they have some great food.

The staff is very nice as well and always checking on you which is rare in most bars.

This is a solid, neighborhood bar. The venue is large and they whip up some tasty bar food. Drink specials are pretty standard, like you would find in any other bar. Mainly, I like it because it is so close to where I live and because they throw the best party on St. Patty's day.

On certain weekends you can find live bands in here as there is a small stage and dance area. Not really the first bar that pops in my head when looking to get a drink unless I am feeling lazy and want to exert the least amount of energy possible to get a drink in my hand outside my place.

    AUTHENTIC!

Irish owned with no shortage of character.  We stopped in at about 9pm on a week night.  Totally dead.  The bartender chatted with us for awhile - very friendly and just the right amount of sass.

Great beers.  I hear they are known for early morning showings of European soccer games.

Whether it was a pub crawl, flip cup tourney, St Patty's day, seeing live bands or stopping in for lunch, i've always enjoyed Fado's. It's not my first pick for a lunch choice, as i associate this bar with the nightlife scene. however, the food and beer are quite yummy.

-I ordered the fish and chips the other day and was amazed when my plate came out as it looked as if 2 fish [full size!] were breaded on my plate! huge portions...check.
-They have a wide range of beer, primarily Irish [duh!] along with others, that are all quite good. perfect for warming up on a cool day...Irish coffee.Unique place to get drunk...check.
-The decor makes you feel like you've stepped out of downtown Denver and into a small pub in Ireland with antiques all over, big beams and cobblestones.
-downside? service sucks. we had ONE waitress to cover the entire restaurant and patio...which made our food take longer, our drinks barely refilled and lots of running around for that poor girl.

Definitely a better bar to hit around happy hour or later in the night as they usually have bands, trivia, and thousands of other events happening :)

Came by here after a Rockies game and I was not impressed. It was overly crowded, which I can deal with on a Rockies' game night but that was just the first of many problems. The music was way too loud and the DJ was really bad, I had to yell to hear the people I was sitting across the table from. It took forever to have a waitress come by, she was friendly when she did, but by that point I was already unhappy.

I'd like to give the food a try and see if it's any good on a weekday night, but it'll be a while before I'm willing to try this place out again.

Went to Fado's for lunch before an afternoon Rockies game with some coworkers.

They had reserved a section for us just inside the front door and to the left. a little nook with much to look at. I have to say I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this place. So much to look at.

Since this was the middle of the day and just before a Rockies game, you can imagine that it was hopping. People coming in and out almost continually. I am a people watcher so I enjoyed that. We had a nice lunch, I had a fish taco as part of someones appetizer and then enjoyed an ample helping of corned beef and cabbage. So ample I couldn't finish it. Very tasty indeed.

The service however wasn't spectacular. My beer went dry a couple of times and our waitress tried to walk away in the middle of taking our orders without including everyone in our party. We had to stop her and tell her that everyone hadn't ordered yet. She just seemed a bit preoccupied and not really interested in what she was doing.

Anyway, I'll stop in again if I'm down there before a game, maybe we just caught her on a bad day. We'll see.

    -MK

The dim lighting, expansive patio, and circular bar make Fado a top spot to down a pint or several. There are great little corners in Fado where you can unwind with friends. Conversely, the patio is a great place to be seen and watch the crowds as the purple masses flock to Coors Field. Even though the pub is often packed the layout of the bar makes it easy to get up there and get your drink order in.

The true reason for the five stars, though, is the glorious decision to book That Eighties Band (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eightiesband.net&s=1d0218ed2ecfebe62f702cbbb41fa99617f29b891506d5da39ee32336227eac3" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.eightiesband.…</a>). A coworker of mine geeks out at the mere mention of Duran Duran and loses all control when mentioning That Eighties Band. I was admittedly a little skeptical, but I was sold when they started up "Summer of '69." My mind was blown with they went in to Run DMC's "Tricky."

I will no doubt check out Fado before or after my next trip to Coors Field. However, I am more excited for the cover band music that awaits us all. Mark your calendar and find your aerobics socks because the true fun will be May 6 and 7 when Fado gets all eightied out again. It's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time, it's tricky.

This review is completely biased, as most of my experiences are as a result of my band playing here...

But the food is considerably better than expected for a chain of pubs... as is the service.

The Turkey pretzel sandwich is crazy good.  The Guiness BBQ wings are excellent.I think the food and the beer are slightly over-priced.  But its a stone's throw from Coors Field and has prime downtown real estate.  Got to pay for that somehow.

If you're looking for a place to grab a drink or a bite before a Rockies game, this place is great. They also show all the Barclay Premiere League games.

One word of warning, after a few drinks the walk to the restroom can be a bit treacherous as its all unevenly set brick flooring. Find a seat nearby and around 1am watch the geniuses.

My wife and I won a gift certificate to eat here as a result of an online contest. We went to a Rockie's baseball game and went to Fado's for dinner after the ball game.

I ordered chicken strips. They were soggy with grease and some of the most disgusting food articles I ever ate in my life, causing severe dispepsia and other biological after-effects I won't go into for obvious reasons. The food was nothing more than soft, wet chicken strips boiled in fat, and tasted as such. The side dish of "mustard sauce" tasted like putrid remains from a dog's back-side and was difficult to swallow the one time I tasted a tiny portion on one of the soggy chicken grease-lumps.

The service was abyssal. We waited at one table for almost a half-hour without service. Then we went to a second table and waiting a few more minutes for service. I stood in the entrance of the pub for almost twenty minutes at one point waiting for a waitress to see me; although I could clearly see her just inches away, covered with pimples on her back and tattoos up and down her legs. Still no service. Finally we sat at a table next to the waitress station and were waited on after another ten minutes or so.

While there were menus boasting Fado's wide array of booze, there were no food menus anywhere. When I finally stood up and asked if they served food, the waitress said she'd have to get the "food menu."

The decor was almost 100% cheap wood; perhaps so all the falling drunks wouldn't be able to break anything and whatever was damaged in any way could be easily replaced.

My wife ordered a chicken sandwich. Her fries were ice cold and she told me the food was not worth the paper the free coupon was printed on. It was also a tiny sandwich.

After eating, I excused myself to mens room so I could literally wash the grease off my hands and rinse my mouth out. Inside the restroom, there was a drunk talking about how it was not masculine to wash one's hands, until another drunk laughed that it was acceptable conduct as long as one did not wash the hands of someone else. Hysterical.

Once back at the table our poor over-worked waitress still was nowhere to be seen. So again, I stood up and asked a young man who appeared to be the manager if he could please find our waitress so we could pay our monetary penance for eating in such a depressing hovel.

Once home, after brushing out teeth and visiting separate restrooms several times during the course of an hour or two we agreed that we were hungry for a real meal and we made a dinner at home-which tasted like eating the best food ever, after eating at Fado's Depressing Irish Pub.

I would sooner have the clap for a decade and play a naked game of Twister with the risen corpse of Hitler before I would ever eat anything at Fado's Irish Pub again.

    Thank you, and be forewarned.

Wow, just when I think this place can't possibly get any worse, they surprise me again. This is the kind of place that makes me truly wish you could give zero or even negative stars for a review.

So, the alumni chapter of my fraternity decided to have their monthly meeting at Fado's this month in Honor of St Patrick's Day. Our group of ~30 people had pre-arranged with Fado's to have our own space and separate checks. Surprise! We get there and are told that we will not be getting separate checks, but when we are ready to leave we should individually tell our server what we had and she will charge us for those items. Really? 30 freaking people? Do you know how long that took? Ridiculous!

There are several folks in our group that are on the elderly end of the spectrum. And, for some reason, Fado's decided to dim the lights to a pretty extreme level. Some folks at our table couldn't even read the menu because of it. We asked our server if the lights could be turned up, since we were pretty much the only people in the entire restaurant, and were told "sure" but the lighting never changed. Then, they had to crank up the music. Serious? Again, the ONLY people in the restaurant and they knew we were having a meeting with announcements, etc. And, these poor guys have a hard time hearing as it is.

Oh, and it gets better, rather than write down what each of us was having and where we were sitting, they decided to bring out the dishes one-at-a-time and just yell out what they were. Classy. Then, they got annoyed when no one could hear them (a combination of age and the music). And, because of this extremely disorganized attempt at "serving" and our attempts at having table manners, some folks had to eat some pretty cold food by the time everyone at each of the tables was served.

This place is ridiculous. I will not be headed back and I think my fraternity's experience was horrible enough that they won't be headed back either.

As a world class drinker and drunkard, drinking real Irish beer makes me happy. Nnaw, I'd rather drink water than drink something that ends with "light". Fado pours a perfect Guiness and a sturdy Harp. This is the second Fado I've been to and I'm still a fan. The Austin location is still my favorite with their cute little snug hidey-holes but the Denver spot filled the hole in my heart for an Irish bar I've been missing (yeah yeah - even if it's a chain I still love it shamlessly).

After a Restaurant Week dinner at The Keg, we walked over to Fado to finish our evening. We sat at the bar and watched the Olympics (go Apollo go!) and had a fun time. The bartenders were nice and checked on us regularly. When we arrived around 8ish it was pretty quiet but by the time we left around midnight the joint was hoppin'.

I follow Fado on twitter and have haranged and hassled them via twitter to puh-leeze open a location in Dallas. Puh-leeeeeeze. No luck yet, so the Denver Fado will have to do. Only it's a wicked commute home. Sheeit.

I recently went back to Fado for some Confederations Cup action with a couple friends, and absolutely HAD to update my review.

I want to like Fado.  I want to love it, really.  But time and time again service is so slow I'd swear that there's no one actually working there. The staff is friendly enough, if completely oblivious to the fact that they're slower than death at slinging drinks and bringing food, but they're either understaffed or just unwilling to provide for requests in a timely manner.

I showed up at 11a, had a beer, and all was good. My tab was at the bar, not with a server, though I was not sitting at the bar.  Not a big deal, I don't mind walking to and from the bar to get a drink.  However, he brought me another patron near me a beer at one point, and when I asked the waitress to transfer my tab, he overheard me, and said he'd get it for me. 35 minutes later I had to walk back to the bar, wait 10 minutes at the bar just to get his attention, and then get it from him.  And it was poorly poured at that! (it was a guinness, after all.)

One of the people at a table near me, ordered an Irish Breakfast at 12:30 or so, just as the USA v. Brasil match was getting under way.  After reminding the server three times, his meal finally arrived at 2:30. I ordered fish and chips at 2:10 ish, and by the time I tabbed out at 3:00 they never arrived.

I'm sick of this place not taking itself seriously. it is indeed a bit of a theme park of an Irish Pub, but they're understaffed, lazy, and have no interest in improving.  It's a great pub atmosphere, if a little kitschy, but that doesn't make up for the fact that if there are more than 50 people in the bar, it's going to take you an hour to get food and 20 minutes to get a drink. I've been to establishments with much higher volume that handle their service so much better.

I don't think I'll be going back to Fado.

Fados is like a crappy theme park of an Irish Pub. How so? Well aside from being a bottom-line, corporate-minded, national chain...it's often packed with folks and over-charges for everything. Also, on each occasion I've been here, they've seemed to pride themselves on non-existent service. The staff are nice-enough...when they finally get around to your table. Then go ahead and order Shandy (that's half beer and half ginger ale). Fados uses Sprite, which is sacrilege enough, but it's $5.50. Mind you...it's half a beer. AFter you've wrapped your mind around that, order food and you'll wait just as long for that as you did to get a server. We were here on trivia night and the kicker was, the bar even left us waiting forever for our prize.

I realize this suits the non-discerning, downtown element just fine, but if you're reading this, I imagine you're looking for some modicum of goodness. Don't be like others and give the Irish a bad name by assuming any place that claims to be an Irish Pub and serves Guinness is worthy of praise and patronage.

If you are in the mood for an Irish pub, go to a real one. Fado is a corporate chain stamp out  -  the antithesis of what an Irish pub should be. Fado is not unique, it's not quaint, it's not awesome.

They have strategically covered off on all things Irish to be authentic...but failed.

I will say that Fado's location is totally prime - especially during baseball season. So If you go for that reason and not to partake in the "Irish Pub Experience" - I won't be mad at you. If this is your top spot to go to for St. Patrick's Day - you are lame.

I spent New Year's Eve at Fado on my first visit to Denver in 2006.  My friends and I blamed the lack of patrons on the snow storms (to which I said, dude, I'm from southern California and I'm out ... I thought Coloradans were known for cowboying up!) .  That experienced sucked hard and I really questioned whether or not I wanted to move to what I perceived to be a very boring and tame city.

Well, in moving here, I learned Denver is anything but.

But Fado still sucks.  We went there for a friend's birthday on Saturday night and it was STILL dead.  Where is everyone?  Where's the energy?  Where's the personality?  So incredibly bland and tame.  It's a great structure, but no soul.  Not a fan in the least.

I recommend against going here, unless you're content with a bland, tame and soulless Irish pub.

Hubby and I have been here multiple times and Hubby even had an event here.
The staff is always great, be it serving dinner or serving our drunk crowd in the back room! Always a smile and always a full glass - beer or water!

The food is great! I went with the Rueben the first time - OMG yummy, and this time I did the Guinness BBQ Chicken sandwich. Very yummy. I have never been on a game (baseball) day, so I can't describe what happens when it is beyond crowded! They do open for lunch directly at 11:30, so don't come early!

There is a wide variety of beer and a full bar and trivia on one of the nights by Geeks who drink! Fun place where you aren't rushed!

Well, you see I'm a geek who drinks, by association.  In all fairness my guy is geeky and drinky, and I tag along to reap the fun.  Every week my yelp Friends and I go to a different bar in the Denver Metro area to have a geeky good time.  I've decided that Fado is my favorite place.  Yes, I've only been there three times but here's why my vote is Fado.

They have an incredible location.  It's so cool and historic and even visually stunning.  The patio is amazing.  Huge, and cozy, and has speakers and wait stations right out there, it's like another room of the bar, but sunnier with a better view.  The bar itself is rustic with lots of woodworking details and several separate rooms. It's big.
The food is pretty good too.  It's got to be some of the best bar food we've had while touring the geeks locals.
Yes, I'm a fan, of Fado Irish Pub, and an even bigger fan of Geeks Who Drink.

Typical chain Irish pub vibe but set up like a TGI Friday's - in that it is a sprawling series of rooms and has a bunch of junk all over the walls.

Did not eat - hard to screw up a half&half and it was the one place I got a nice patio seat in Denver during the DNC, which was excellent for drunk-people-watching.

Still deciding whether or not I like this place.

On the positive side, I thought the food was good. I had one of their Guinness BBQ Chicken Sandwiches. The chicken breast was very juicy and their bbq sauce (which you couldn't tell if their was Guinness in it or not.) was good, really good. The type I would buy on a normal basis if it could be purchased in a grocery store.

Since I enjoyed their food, I will have to try their wings the next time I go there. I fought so hard not to get them that night, but I had trivia and didn't want to be too preoccupied with eating and not paying attention to the game.

Other than the food and the fact that I had a great time with my fellow Yelpers, theirs not much else that I have good to say. The service wasn't that great. Actually it was the speed of the service that bugged me. Before the place had got packed, the waitress took some time to deliver our first drink order and then after giving us menus to order food, she again took her time in taking our order. It did seem as though there were not a lot of staff on hand that night, but still. Not our fault and nothing was mentioned to that fact, so how were we to know it would take some time to get our meal.

They have an okay selection of beers, from what I saw. Which was fine as I was their for a (couple of) Black and Tan. I was denied from the previous place we went to for GWD and was happy that I wasn't here as well.

Overall Fado is an okay place. Easily a nice place for tourists/locals who happen to be in the area, for a baseball game, but not a place I would  got to on regular basis.

My experience at Fado was a mish-mash of occurrences. Since I'm a glass half-full kind of girl let's talk about the positives first.

They have pretty decent food. I had a pear and blue cheese salad that I would easily eat again and again. We also shared a giant sampler that had quesadillas with a tangy sauce that I really enjoyed.

They also have a lot of beers on tap that I like. I particularly like that I can get half Guinness and half Cider. Even if I call it a Snakebite and they call it a Black Velvet. As long as it's what I want then that's fine by me.

There is a giant patio and tons of seating so it's great for large groups of people. And the trivia is super fun.

As for my complaints, it was really only one - the service. It was weird. Our server didn't give us any attitude, she even happily split checks. But, she so rarely came around that we often just got stuff for ourselves. Half our group started ordering from the bar. And occasionally she'd come by and take drink orders from 1 or 2 of us and then leave before anyone else could ask for anything. It got kind of ridiculous.

The highlight was when someone at our table knocked over a full beer and broke the glass. We all had to use our napkins to wipe everything up, even going to the bar to get more napkins, (By the way the bartender just looked at us with that "It's not my job to clean up your table with broken glass, it's your server's," gaze. But, our server was gone from our area for so long she never even realized we had broken a glass or spilled a beer.

I'll bet we could have drank twice as many beers if she would have paid a little more attention to us. Considering some of us only had one beer it wouldn't have been a lot more attention required.

The place is okay, but honestly I can't see myself going back here on my own suggestion.

This is one of those times I wished Yelp allowed half stars. I would happily do 2.5 stars.

So I have been here before just not in a while and it all came flooding back as I hung out to play trivia.

S-L-O-W service. Now I been to trivia nights a bunch of other places and not had too much trouble getting my iced tea refilled or others at my table getting a beer. I will say I did see our waitress running around a whole bunch so I would say this is more of a management problem than the waitress. Hello? On busy trivia nights you might need more than one waitress for the whole place. Just an idea?

Food. Just meh. I had the corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage. Large portion. Expensive. Not a lot of flavor and I don't cook much, but I think I could have spiced this up better than they did. Sad. It also gave me a tummy ache later that night. Boo.

As for the trivia that was the best part of the experience. Our team came in 3rd. Would I go back? Only for trivia. I wouldn't eat there and I would be sure to bring my water bottle.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed, but wait...let me explain about what!  I've visited Fado in both Chicago and Seattle and they are usually pretty hopping places with a busy crowd.

I went to Fado Wednesday and despite the wonderful and awesome Brian and Brendan Clancy playing traditional Irish music, there was hardly anybody there.

I stopped in again Thursday night and while the patio was packed, there was again barely anybody inside and that persisted until the bar closed.  Maybe it's because Denver people would rather be enjoying the rooftop patios up on the Blake bars, but despite the patio always being full...the inside was usually dead.

I returned Friday night hoping that the situation would change, but when I showed up around 9pm, I was again disappointed.  I took off soon after so I can't say if it picked up or not but maybe it's just a summer thing... *shrug*

Besides the odd lack of an inside crowd, I have nothing else negative to say.  Good 'ol Fado delivers again in its accurate decor.

I will hear nary a bad word against this pub, which has often let my dog sit quietly at my feet as I retire a pint or three. Sure it's a chain but the barfolk are friendly and good times can be found outside of locally owned ratholes. Besides, it's a great place for singing the old songs, smelling the druid sweat in the roof timbers, or perhaps standing on a stool with your sleeves rolled up like Michael Collins and reciting a bit of Gaelic poetry like this classic by Robert Seger that my grandfather used to regale his mates in the potato mines a hundred years ago . .

    "We've Got Tonight"

    I know it's late, I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Longing for shelter from all that we see
Why should we worry, no one will care girl
Look at the stars so far away
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
    We've got tonight babe
    Why don't you stay?

Deep in my soul, I've been so lonely
All of my hopes, fading away
I've longed for love, like everyone else does
I know I'll keep searching, even after today
So there it is girl, I've said it all now
And here we are babe, what do you say?
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
    We've got tonight babe
    Why don't you stay?

    I know it's late, I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
    Both of us lonely

We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
Let's make it last, let's find a way
Turn out the light, come take my hand now
    We've got tonight babe
    Why don't you stay?

Poor Fado's seems to be getting a bit of a bad rap.

Yes, it's gimmicky, but that's par for the course if you're an Irish pub chain, yes?  It 's as if someone bought an authentic Irish pub then couldn't decide what they wanted to decorate it with, so they used EVERYTHING they could find.

However, I recall several fun bands playing there (good backdrop stuff to kind of dance to) and they have all the requisite beers on tap.   Also, the proximity to Coors Field makes it a great place to hit after a game.  It's big enough that even when a crowd floods in you can generally snag a table, or at least a stool.
