I love Fit Z's! This became my usual hang-out for all Bruins games this year. It's basically a dive bar full of locals, but it's the best kind of dive. The usual crowd was always lively and fun-loving (but still okay to bring the family in for dinner too). The drinks are cheep, the food is great, all service is fast and friendly and Derek, the bartender is THE best.
Review Source:I might be biased of this place because I'm now considered a "local." Â But that's what this bar is for, a local spot that has booze and TVs to watch sports. Â It is a dive, but I don't mind. Â Sometimes the best bars are the dive-y types. Â The service is always excellent here and food is pretty good. Â I've had the wings, quesadillas, steak tips, and tacos. Â They do not disappoint. The price is great too and every night they have something discounted. Â I love the fact it is steps away from my house, so this is a great local place.
Review Source:Great dive bar, and when I say "dive bar," I mean that in the most positive way, in the truest essence of what a dive bar should be: good prices, great food & drink, and a local, friendly collection of folks.
Derek is a great bartender, and even though I've seen him as the only person working the front of the house, manages to tend to everyone's needs without any complaints.
I'm glad this place is about a 10 second walk from where I live, as I plan to frequent it often now that we're also locals!
My husband and I have been going to Fit Z's Bar for mid afternoon lunch over the past several months and really like it there. Â We sit at the bar and see the same people there all the time which tells you it's a 'locals' type of bar. Â Jimmy, the co-owner/ bartender knows what we drink, a sign of a good bartender! Â Monday and Tuesdays there is a burger special for $5.50 and the burgers are delicious, done to perfection and to my liking, 'medium rare' which some restaurants refuse to do. Â We've tried the steak tip dinner, fish sandwich, and boneless wings, all from the regular menu. Â They are also very good for reasonable prices and large portions. Â We ordered American Chop Suey which was a special one day to take home for dinner and it would have nicely fed 4 adults. Clam chowder is different from most restaurants, very thick and tasty! We used to frequent the Chateau in Waltham for lunch several times a week until they reduced their menu options and increased their prices. Â We are now happy to say the Fit Z's is our new lunch spot!!
Review Source:Holy Poop! the food is really freaken good. Â totally did not expect my chicken rice and vegetables to be perfectly cooked, i.e nothing was mushy, perfectly seasoned and super delicious! Â
Am definitely going back. I've heard great things about their chicken wings.
Its a sports bar, strong support for the local HS teams. Â cute townie place :)
I checked this place out on Yelp, and the reviews were generally pretty good, so I decided to try it out. My buddy and I went there on a Tuesday night for burgers and beers. I ordered my burger medium, with cheddar and bacon, BBQ on the side (the only way to have it). It came out quick, and perfectly done along with FF and onion rings. The place is definitely a townie bar, but sometimes that may be the type of atmosphere you're looking for. The food was good, the Sam Summer on tap was good, and everything was cheap. $35 (not including tip) for 5 beers and two burgers is a pretty good deal. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I will most likely go back.
Review Source:We had a coupon for this place and that got us over there as we were unfamiliar.
The place is very much an old fashioned neighborhood bar n grill. Long bar on one side , tables on the other. All kinds of sports plaques and team pictures on the walls. Nice and traditional. Big tv's on the walls. The owner waited on us and he was very friendly and attentive . I ordered a cheddar cheeseburger ,and my wife got fish n chips. The food came out quickly and piping hot. My burger was tasty , perfectly cooked and on a nice fresh roll. My wife's fish was light and tasty and there was a lot of it. The prices were very reasonable. I want to go back soon to try the chicken wings. They have a different special every night that is very reasonably priced.
Nice place to watch a game and have some food and drinks.check it out sometime , I bet you'll enjoy it as we did.
One of the best bars i've been to. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. I have to find odd hours to get lunch just to make sure I can get a seat cause this place is almost always packed. I've also never gotten better pubfare food when going to a place like this. The quality is always solid and the servers are friendly. Oh and the fact I can get half fries half onion rings is awesome. It's little things like that which make places stand out to me. I will be visiting this place a lot.
Review Source:This is my go to spot in Watertown. Â My wife and I are here at least once a week after work for a solid dinner and a beer. Â I've never had a bad meal here even though its just your typical pub food. Â It always tastes homemade and the portions are perfect. Â They have great deals on appetizers during games too. Â In fact, I'll probably be going there tonight!
Review Source:just went to Fitzies last night. Â I as very impressed with the Chicken Parm sandwich, and believe me it is hard to please a chicken parm connoisseur. Â I think the chicken was freshly breaded and pan cooked, not deep fried. Â That touched my heart. Â I was a little disappointed by the beer prices...$5 for a pint of Guinness? Â But we are in Boston, but I thought they would be a little less. Â Crowd was lively and the TVs very nice. Â There is much more room than 1/2way, so I can see spending quite a few Sundays at Fitzies watching the Pats. Â Could be some big competition for Donahue's as that has been my place of choice. Â my fiancee got the veggie quesadailla's and liked them a lot, although she got a piece of cheese stuck around her back tooth. Â we dont blame Fitzies for that, just some sloppy eating on the girl's part.
Review Source:The place has been fixed up, the TV's improved, the bathrooms no longer scary, the staff equally as friendly as before (when it was the Busy B Pub), and the prices remain reasonable. Â A jukebox has been added, but its one of them newfangled annoying touch-screen jukeboxes.
Now, everyone knows you went to the Busy B for the wings. Â They have added a flavor, leaving them with hot, honey terriyaki, and BBQ. Â The wings are larger in size but smaller in number. Â
However, I can't give it the five stars because there are no darts. Â Bring back the darts and I'll be more generous. Â True, Busy B's dart board was warped and the darts all malfunctioned, but thats better than nothing. Â
While Halfway Cafe is still my neighborhood bar in Watertown, this place keeps my loyalty for my Wednesday night wings binge. Â John Brewer's might have the 10 cent wings on Monday and Sunday, but Fit Z's has the tastiest wings.
Fit Z's is the old Busy B Pub, a place I drove by regularly for a very long time and never had any desire to enter. It looked like a dive and was easily overshadowed by Halfway Cafe across the street. I've also never been inside Fit Z's but I can tell you it looks a LOT better than the Busy B ever did, and I actually saw SEVERAL people walking in there on my drive home last night. Just for that it gets 4 stars.
