"Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle". -Paulo Coelho

    This place is absolutely darling!

Tucked inside the ever-fabulous Glen, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself.

We went on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. Our waiter, Sean (Shawn?), was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly.

My friend and I are not wine connoisseurs by any means,  but we definitely appreciate and love a flavorful glass of wine. When we expressed our confusion about the menu but that we were both looking for a sweet wine, he knew exactly what to bring us.

Our wine flight included a Riesling, Moscato D'Asti, and a red wine that I believe was sweeter than the Moscato. I didn't quite care for the Riesling, but the second choice was by far my favorite (Paolo Saracco moscato d'asti).

We didn't have a chance to try the food, but I plan on doing so next time.

Bottom line: Ambiance is great (they even dimmed the lights after the Bulls game), staff is very friendly and attentive, and the wine is rich and flavorful. Perfect!

Ordered the shrimp tempura which was excellent with a beer ( I know but just not a wine person) and had the scallops which were large but the side of arugala salad was not a good pairing. Staff service was excellent. Great first date spot.

Good place to grab a drink or a small, otherwise I would suggest eating elsewhere if you are looking for a good meal, even the salad was disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic food! We tried many of the small eats. The fries were delish!

I got the Duck Mac and Cheese as my meal. Incredible!!!

Monday nights are half price bottles of wine.

OK place to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks/glasses of wine. Wine list is not super interesting. Crab sliders and fries, and regular burgers, were good. A pasta dish and the ahi flatbread were OK.

Sitting at a table the other night, we experienced an awful "push"-- busboys coming by every couple of minutes trying to take away plates that still had food on them. This was very visible throughout the whole room. I got the sense that they were trying to discourage people from camping at the tables, but we were trying to have a full meal, having also ordered two flights and a glass each of pricey wine. There were empty tables around too. What's weird is that so much of their space is given over to tables. They should at least double the bar space instead, since that is what they do well.

Been to Flight twice.  First off, we are not wine snobs.  We know what we like, regardless of the price of a glass/bottle.  First time my wife and I visited was March 2012, we tried their wine flights.  3 nice glasses of wine that the house recommended.  I think out of the 6 different wines we tasted, 5 were awful, and one was decent.  The 5 that tasted awful had a metallic after taste.  We are not the types to complain or make a scene so we finished and left.  After further thought, we concluded that the glasses maybe were not rinsed sufficiently and possibly had some soap residue on them.

Second time we visited Flight was in October 2012.  We remembered we didn't have the best experience before but was willing to give it another shot.  We had a nice dinner and decided to order another wine flight.  This time, I chose 3 wines and my wife did the same.  I don't know but out of the 6 glasses, maybe 2 were average, and 4 were quite painful to drink.  We kept asking, did this wine turn bad already (vinegar-y)?

In summary, the wines for some reason are just not good.  We tried practically half of their available wines by the glass and had trouble enjoying any of them.  Nice place, food was good, but the wine needs severe improvement.  This coming from a guy that'll pretty much drink anything.

the good: the wine, of course.  you can't ever go wrong with a wine flight.  the cheeses were wonderful and the fries were really good as well.

the bad: the service was very spotty.  we did always have our water refilled, but we barely ever saw our waitress.  our chocolate fondue was blah - i mean, how is that even possible?? it's chocolate?  yet somehow, it still wasn't great.

the ugly: i had the chopped salad - you would think something more than a side salad, but no - iceberg, red onion, cucumbers, tomatoes.  just a very large side salad, with a description that makes it sound much more than what it was.. (sorry i can't tell you exactly what that description was, since the online menu is not the same as the one at the restaurant.  the one online sounds good, the one in the restaurant lacks diversity..)  it was truly a horrendous salad, and it's pretty hard to screw that up.  the flatbread was incredibly bland and the crust tasted like pure white flour.  i also heard at least two other customers complain about the food.

a good place to go for drinks and guaranteed to be good apps (i.e. cheese, can't screw that up!), but leave it at that as the food is not good.

For me, Flight is a go-to destination for after dinner spirits and cocktails. It's the closest thing to a lounge you'll find in the immediate area, which is the feeling you get when you have to walk through thick felt curtains AFTER walking through the door (which I always found to be a bit awkward, but it's unique and it works for them).

They have an amazing menu of hand-crafted cocktails, some classics and some that change seasonally. It needs to be said that their food is outstanding, but there are so many other more affordable options to dine at in The Glen that this has strictly become my favorite cocktail/martini joint. Service is always good and the ambiance is warm and inviting, but sometimes the patrons can give an off-putting feeling. One time there was a "gentleman" seated at a table that was in a thoroughfare... and he's sticking his feet out in the middle of the aisle with his shoes off and his disgusting socks all up in everyone's business. Not the classiest act I've ever seen. But I won't fault the establishment for that.

I miss the old, "flight" related cocktails they used to have until they changed their menu (i.e. the O'Hare, but I think they still serve the Aviator) but off their new menu I highly recommend the Purgatorio, Juicebox and the Forbidden Flower. Though I'd ask them to leave the pepper off the latter -- doesn't add much flavor and gets stuck in your teeth. Sexy, no?!

A quick glance at my fledgling list of reviews will leave you with one, simple conclusion - I enjoy a good beer. However, Flight and its staff delivered a 1-2 punch to my hoppy fanaticism.

When we arrived, the place was empty save a lone couple at the end of the bar, and my spidey sense kicked into overdrive. Nevertheless, I ignored my trepidation and took my seat at the bar where i was quickly handed a menu. The wine list was of course filled with hundreds of wines I had neither heard of nor could pronounce, but sitting on the first page was a hard-find-favorite of mine. I immediately started to warm up to the place.

As I enjoyed my selection, the bartender sampled several different wines to my friend who eagerly accepted the opportunity. When she had finally found a suitable vintage, the bartender informed me that he would like me to try a new bottle they had received on the house - um, yes please. He poured me a full glass, and it was outstanding. Better than my coveted, first selection. I started to love the place.

The rest of the night continued under our bartenders guidance, and we enjoyed 2-3 more glasses of new favorites over great conversation. Turns out we both had a lot in common with our now private bartender, so he cranked up his 90's play list on Pandora and swapped stories with us all night. As the night concluded, we asked for our check, which came out to $29 for 7 glasses of wine and a lava cake. Instantly head-over-heals!

Overall, Flight was an amazing experience for this beer fanatic. I was introduced to several new favorite vintages and laughed a majority of the night. I will certainly return.

What a ripoff. Good thing we were using a Living Social Coupon.  If I had paid the full price of $26 for two glasses of super-sweetened white grape juice (aka Muscati D'Asti on the menu), a scoop of ice cream, some apple slices, and six beignets the shape and consistency of Kellogg's Mini Wheats, I would have thrown a huge conniption fit, the likes of which haven't been seen in these parts in quite sometime. How many ways can you conjugate the word "suck"?...suck, sucky, suckier, suckiest, suckety suck suck suck. Never, ever, ever again.  And looking at the menu, they had bottles of wine listed for $750! $750? It's Glenview, Illinois dammit, not Paris, France, not Beverly Hills, California! Sheesh.

On the plus side, our waitress was cute and attentive, and the bus boys kept our water glasses filled and dirty plates removed promptly.

Lesson learned. We won't be returning.

Just returned from our first outing to Flight.  We shared a very pleasant evening there with friends.  It was a perfect temperature outside and the outdoor seating was perfect. too

We really enjoyed the fact that they sell quarter, half and full glasses of wine.  They have some flights of wine already designed for you or with the above options you can design your own.  Their suggested flights come with three half glasses of wine.  The prices are a bit on the high side but we still liked the flexibility and variety that they offer.  We ordered a bunch of different wines and really liked most of them.

The food that we ordered was tasty and well prepared.  The portions are deceptively large.  By that I mean the plates that the food arrives in are relatively small and the way the food is plated it doesn't look like much but don't be fooled there is plenty of food there and it is very filling.

Finally for dessert we ordered the banana foster bread pudding pairing.  So the bread pudding comes with two sweet wine pairings.  This was outstanding and the highlight of the meal for me.  And I don't even like sweet wines!

The service was completely appropriate.  Well paced and not overly excessive. This is not an inexpensive night out but certainly an enjoyable one.  I would certainly consider returning.

A great place to have a drink, chat and relax.
Monday night seems to be a good night to go if you are looking to dodge prime time. Very relaxing outside on the sidewalk.
Had a Livingsocial deal for wine and dessert pairing that we needed to burn before it expired, so 'date night' it was :-)
Had a bit to eat first.
Had the Ceasar salad but would not repeat. I have had better.
The fish tacos were ok, but did not like that they fried the fish.
To wash it down we tried a wonderful german doublebock beer that was a special.
For dessert, we tried the bread pudding/wine pairing. My wife enjoyed it, I thought it was ok and could have thought of many ways to sin instead.
    Service was good.

Went to Flight last Saturday night - it was great! The gem of the Glen....nice change from so many chain restaurants.  We had  the tuna appetizer, caesar salad, duck mac n cheese & skirt steak and all were amazing!  Great wine, very helpful and friendly server.  Dessert was great too! We will be back soon for sure.

Ordered the sliders, not bad, then the lamb, dry and not cooked medium rare. Told the waiter and he said it was cooked medium rare, I disagreed, he walked away saying "pain in the *** customers". I am note going to get into a long diatribe about what happened next, just that the manager inasmuch supported him and another waiter through a barb to boot. Forget this place.

The atmosphere is nice and the wine options are extensive, however, the manager made some poor client service choices that led to him successfully emptying the bar with our guests as well as others that left on principle after witnessing the situation.  El Jardin across the street is a better bet.

Flight is a great addition to the Glen and the Glenview area! I went here a couple weeks ago on a Saturday night and was surprised it wasn't more busy then it was. It's such a nice place to try some new wines and they offer wine flights! Hence the name. They bring you out 3 glasses out to try with a description of each. It's awesome!

It looked like they have a full restaurant menu but when I went our purpose was the wine flights but my friends did get the cheesecake to munch on. My friends loved the cheesecake so much they got a second one! I tried it and it was quite good and had a bit of a different taste to it since it was a ricotta cheesecake instead of the usual. Very creamy and delicious!

Good service and one of the waiters looks like Jason Wahler. haha! I'll definitely be back to Flight!

ate outside on a perfect night with friends. We made our own flight, rather than pick exisiting on. Service is right on, and the food was pretty darn good.  Had Tuscan Fries, the Tuna, duck mac and cheese, meatball sliders, everything was wonderful. Loved the Tuna...  too bad this is so far!

Flight is a wine bar and serves contemporary american grub tapas style. The atmosphere is very upscale but casual, something surprisingly trendy to hit up in the suburbs.

It seems like their entire menu spread is very rich. I like things rich which is good for me, but if there's anything that got to me it was the meat prep across the board -- almost on the dry side, especially the duck. If it wasn't for the havarti and the truffle I think I would have fixated on this more. I like the tapas style concept but I don't believe the food warrants the prices.

    The wine selections were exceptional.

Our server was very accommodating first off, but as the place got busier he seemed to lose his head. I'm pretty forgiving of servers though, I'm just saying it would have bettered my experience had he been personable/attentive throughout. I do want to come back and try some of their dessert.

I've been here a couple times already and service is great as always.  Decor was nice.  What I liked most was their duck mac n cheese and their kobe burger.  This place is a bit pricey but the food is great.  And luckily every time I came, there wasn't much of a wait so that's a plus!

We came here for a business dinner on a Thursday night.  No trouble getting a seat at 7pm without a reservation.

I liked the decor, open area and fireplace, but something was off.  Can't quite put my finger on it.

The service was great - prompt and friendly.  And I love the carrier they deliver the flights of wine in.   I had a red flight (see pic), but really enjoyed only the cloudline pinot noir.

I had the loaded baked potato soup (good comfort food on a cool night) and the scallops, which were deliciously tossed with crispy shredded spinach and sweet potatoes!  Yummmmmm.

All in all a nice dinner...I'd go back.

We started going to The Glen about a year ago and somehow never noticed Flight was there. We were there recently to have dinner with a few friends who suggested Flight, and, we wound up having a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We were there on a Friday night and sat in the bar area and they had the White Sox playing (not the Cubs, yay!) so they get 1 star just for that! I started with the sparkling flight, and my husband had the Everything but Chardonnay flight, both of which were good choices. I really liked that they gave us cards with the names of the wines in the flight that we could take with us when we left. They also do beer flights which we thought was a nice alternative for those who may not want wine.

We shared a few appetizers: the ahi tuna, cheese plate, and, scallops. My favorite was the ahi tuna. I split the Flight Burger w/my hubby...omg. The burger was juicy and so tasty. The red wine onion marmalade was a ridiculously good compliment to the truffle oil and aged Cabot white cheddar. I'm salivating now thinking about that burger. Our friends had gnocchi and a salad that they loved, so much so that they thought about ordering some gnocchi to take home. Our service was great and the bartenders were very friendly. They made great wine suggestions, too.

I'm still not a big fan of The Glen itself, but, the restaurants are starting to grow on me. It could use a little bit more diversity, but, I guess given the location it is what it is. And, I'm not yet completely convinced that the residential area isn't a movie set (I never see any people going in our out of the homes!), but, I'll definitely go back to visit Flight.

They had a great wine selection but such horrible service it didn't even matter. We ordered a round of drinks and an app and never saw our server again. We sat there for an hour before we got up and got ourselves the bill. I asked three people where the bathroom was before I got the manager who was the only person who didn't ignore us and even he wasn't that nice.

My wife and I always say that we should stop and try the restaurants on Tower Avenue in Glenview. We were trying to think of somewhere to eat last night so we drove to Glenview and chose Flight. It ended up being a very nice evening with amazing food and beautiful, trendy decor. We split the crab cake to start, I had the tuna burger, and my wife had the kobe sliders. We loved everything we ordered. The only problems we had (and the reasons I can't give the place five stars) is that service was lacking since we waited a long time and the prices of wine were a little exorbitant for the area. If our waiter had been more attentive, my wife may have ordered dessert, but he was nowhere to be found.

This place used to be "OK", but lately, it's slipped...A LOT!.
I saw it as a 'chick bar', but my wife liked it, so we went.  The first few times, not bad, but Expensive. Then it became more & more expensive.
But what I find really interesting ( = annoying )...is the tall, thin guy who, I think, runs/owns the place.
Talk about unfriendly..arrogant...and just plain rude. He alone is the reason I won't and my wife either won't go there anymore.

this place was really adorable - it was my first time out in glenview and i really fell in love with the area!

our server at flight was great - very patient, and helpful when we were making our wine and dinner selections. they had a kind of riesling that i hadn't tried before, so i was happy to try something new - to make it even better, i loved my selection!

the only thing i was "blah" about was the salad i split with my friend - to be fair, she really enjoyed hers, so i guess it just wasn't my thing - warm dressing and a fried egg on top really grosses me out, i didn't enjoy at all.

however, i thoroughly enjoyed my burger and fries - the burger had this wonderful white truffle aioli that gave it a really nice flavor. the fries were seasoned perfectly as well.

i really enjoyed our little "girls night dinner" here and i would love to go back and try some other things on the menu, (like the ricotta gnocchi with italian sausage!) great ambiance and decor, and great staff.

I've dined here twice and really like this place. It's a more upscale wine bar that caters to mostly adults (which means no crying babies here--yay!) [Note: no offense to babies, moms with babies, groups for the representation of babies rights--really, I like kids, just not other people's kids when I'm eating, ok? :)].

Flight serves small plates that are great for sharing. Both times we ordered the white bean hummus, which was fabulous. I would also recommend the herb & manchego russet fries, the kobe burger flight, and the fried shrimp. They also have an excellent selection of wines.

First time, the service was fantastic, second time the service was so-so. A bit more pricey than other restaurants in the Glen but I'd say it's worth paying a little more.

We stopped in for dessert with another couple on a recent "date night" and really enjoyed ourselves.   T
he Chocolate Fondue for 4 was enjoyed by all.  The toffee, lb. cake, pineapple, and strawberries were fresh & tasty, the semi sweet chocolate creamy, and cocoa-icious.   Good service and mojo, too.
The only knock was a $1 charge for extra lb. cake.  Don't you love being nickel and dimed?

My wife & I took the train to The Glen and strolled through the nice  neighborhood to the restaurant section. We decided on a glass of wine and an appetizer at Flight based on the empty outdoor seating and the perfect weather. The flat bread pizza and shrimp tempura were both excellent. The service was fast and the food was hot. Our only complaint was the wine. My glass was a domestic zinfandel that had a bad aroma (I would say bad nose but I don't want to come off as a wine snob). I told the server about it, she took it away and came back with a fresh glass of wine - from a newly opened bottle. That is the problem with wine bars. An opened bottle of wine does not last indefinitely - now matter how fancy the storage system.

So the fact that they replace my glass promptly - and the appetizers were fast, tasty and hot - gives this place good marks in my book. I have to admit that the dinner selections didn't tempt me too much. I say stick with the appetizers and a well chosen glass of wine.

Outdoor seating makes it better to enjoy a nice summer evening.  Inside, nice bar area, dining area is decorated more like "new age" almost "industrial style" which makes the atmosphere a bit "colder".
I didn't understand the choice of almost "clear" glass doors in the bathroom stalls.....that was akward!
Now the food and wine.  Well, folks come here for the wine, the wine, the wine and yes the wine list is worth the detour and you can choose different sizes so you can have a full glass or go for a few trial sizes.
The food: small plates, salads, a few entrees (a la carte, meaning you have to order sides separately), sides and desserts.
In a nutshell, the food is overpriced for the area.  I went for salmon and a side of tabbouleh, the flavors were nice, a hint of ginger on the salmon and the tabbouleh was well executed.
This place serves more the purpose of an "upscale wine bar" to enjoy a glass of wine and share appetizers with friends.

Flight is a trendy touch to the Northern burbs.  They have an extensive wine list with various flights.  They have a great martini list and the food is A-Ok.  I thought that the service was friendly and very efficient.  I hate that I did not come here sooner..

Flight is a pretty good suburban wine bar that serves decent food. Their dessert menu is stronger than their main course, offering chocolate fondue, cheese plates with fruit, chocolate lava cake and creme brulee. Main courses are decent although the menu isn't vast...2 of each fish, red meat and poultry dishes. The portions aren't large either if you take pricing into mind. There is a good selection of wine although I wish they explored more European regions. Their "flight" option is great where you receive a tasting of red, white or sparkling wine special of that day. The bar can be get a little loud and crowded on the weekends, try to get a table by the fireplace, the ambiance is better.

I've been here many times over the last few years. It's very nice in the summer because you can sit at the outdoor tables and enjoy the ersatz urban street scene in the Glen.  We went here recently on a weekend evening. Our reservations were honored upon arrival and we were seated near one of the fireplaces in the main dining room.

To digress, there is a bar area to one side of the space and a couple of rooms to the other side. There is an open kitchen as well (you can sit at a counter overlooking the kitchen, but it gets smoky).

The food is eclectic.  One thing that we always order are the russet potato fries. These are served with three sauces including an aioli sauce that complements the fried potato.   We  ordered the tuna tartare small plate. The tuna is served in a cone shaped savory pastry shell and is very good.
The beet salad is also a nice choice (we have had it in the past, but skipped it on our last visit).  We like the hamburger (served with a generous portion of french fries) and also the amish chicken (sauteed).  There are small plates that are available and you could order 2-3 small plates and walk away stuffed.

They have an extensive wine by-the-glass menu. They recently changed the wine menu to arrange the wines by price per glass as opposed to regional or varietal sorting.  I enjoyed a full flavored Amarone and a couple of Cabernet Sauvignon choices.  The servers are  efficient and helpful in suggesting wine choices.

We were too stuffed for dessert.

The restaurant is a nice choice for before or after a movie at the Glen Theater a couple of doors down.

I have gone to the wine bar really good selection of wine.  The appetizer selection is good with a restaurant attached.  The bar area is somewhat spacious with table seating available.  Flight is in a great location if you in the glen and seeking a wine drink it is a trendy place.  A good kick off point in the Glen to get your evening started or to wind down from an adventurous evening out in the town.

Nice decor, but I wouldn't go again! My boyfriend and I went to Flight for drink on Friday night, wine was fine, they got many variety of wines on their wine list, not bad for drink, but music sucks. One thing it was bothering me so much was there was one guy, I guess he is customer too, sitting in the middle of the aisle with his bare foot but no one cares!! OMG, I can't believe this restaurant can let their customer do that even though when they've seen it! It was totally ruined our date! I'm pretty sure I won't go again, plus, their wine selection just OK, but not great.

My hubby and I decided to go somewhere a little fancy on a Friday night and decided to eat at Flight.  We are fairly into wine and wine-tasting so we decided to try it.  We ordered a flight, of which one wine was eh, and the other two were great.

The decor here is really quite cool.  It is a modern twist on wood paneling, with glass and clean lines.  The bathrooms are awesome.  I want to model my house bathrooms after this place.  I know this has nothing to do with the restaurant itself, but it just makes me happy.  So there.  :0)

We had salads and soups (it is quite pricey for a place in the burbs to which you can wear jeans comfortably, thus the one star off).  I got a sald with shrimp on top, he had the beet salad (which was great), and he had the bisque and I had the french onion. The soups were good and rich.  The flavors here are great, and it is clear that a real chef took care in designing the menu.

We then ordered the chocolate fondue.  It was also pricey ($14).  But it was flippin awesome.  You get fresh pineapple and strawberries, toffee, cookies, and biscotti to dip into the dark chocolate.  Heaven.

Nothing special and incredibly overpriced.  No, the food isn't bad but they have some chutzpah charging around $15 dollars per wine flight (that's only 1.5 glasses of wine!).  Wine at a wine bar should be CHEAPER than other places, not the other way around.  Nothing affordable in terms of bottles, either.  Although the warm chocolate souffl dessert is admittedly delicous.

I don't know anything about wine, but if you do, this is a place to check out.  You can order by the glass or bottle or do flights....get it?
They have different flights to pick from on the menu or you can put together your own combination.

Between the 3 of us we just ordered a few appetizers.  The hummus plate, a flatbread, and pomme frites with dipping sauces.  I also ordered a beet and goat cheese tower for myself.  We all liked everything.
I loved the 2 open fireplaces, but my favorite thing was the direct view I had of the big flatscreen tv showing montages of paintings from artists like monet, van gogh, ce'zanne....etc.
