From the looks of things, I expected this place to seriously hit the spot.  The ambiance was quite appealing which is what drew me in; however, for a $$$ dining establishment I expect that.  The set up is great.  The booths provide a lot of space and the corner table is perfect in terms of privacy and arm space.  I hate nothing more than being squeezed elbow to elbow with other diners.

The oysters were fresh.  I really liked the presentation of the ice block which kept the oysters chilled.  Seriously, oysters are mother nature's doing.  There's nothing to prepare (only shuck).  Mignonettes are not all the difficult to throw together so for me oysters are oysters unless they aren't fresh.  I'll give them props for the presentation.

Now to all of the disappointments.

Cocktails:  We ordered the Airmail and Italian Greyhound. My drink was OK.  Light, refreshing, but not stiff whatsoever.  My friend's greyhound was watered down.  I tasted some bitter from the grapefruit but that's about it.  The drink seemed extremely diluted.  My dinner wine was delicious, but all the bartender had to do was pour (I ordered a Cabernet).

    Starters:

We began with the biscuits with ham & Beecher's cheese and an apple spread.  It was so dry and crumbly.  The grilled shrimp dish was disappointing too.  They ran out of bokchoy (which was fine) and replaced it with kale, but they way over salted the kale.  It was EXTREMELY salty!  I love kale, but it would have been nice if she told us beforehand and not as she brought the dish out to us.  Not to mention... the shrimp tasted frozen -- not fresh.

    Entrees:

Fried chicken was boneless (nice) over a bed of gravy and side of mashed potatoes.  The pork dish came with some greens and grilled potatoes.  Both were mediocre at best.

    Dessert:

The whiskey chocolate cake is supposedly their best dessert, but I found it to be dry and lacked any whiskey flavor.

    After dinner cocktails:

The 10 year old Tawny came in a little dinky glass.  For $10 or whatever it cost, it was not a normal size pour.  We questioned this to our waitress and they gave us another one and didn't charge for it -- as they should have.  On a positive note, the glass was pretty.

My mint tea was good and probably the best part of the whole meal.  BTW, the tea was $4.50 which was way more than any of the espresso drinks they had on the menu.  See my photo (typical Asian type tea pot, same as when what you'll see any most Asian restaurants).

    Service:

The service was below satisfactory.  We had to get the attention of another waitress for service and our waitress really didn't check on us much at all.

If you're just looking for oysters, this would be a great spot during happy hour at $1.50 an oyster.  Thumbs up on the atmosphere and cool decor, but I did not find the food to match the $$$.  I think we probably would have been happier sitting in the bar.

I  came away with the impression that this restaurant is intent on maximizing profit margins at the expense of their food quality. Hard to foresee it being around at this time next year,  given the relative quality of competing restaurants.

    Examples:

Wedge salad advertised as lettuce with smoked bacon and goddess dressing for $11. We got an extremely tiny wedge of iceberg lettuce,  4 tiny cubes of bacon, and Ranch dressing all over it,  which tasted generic.  Would have been decent for a free side salad at Dennys.

Lobster/salmon mac&cheese, $18.  Consisted of small bowl of penne pasta, lobster flavored roux sauce ( no actual lobster) and 2 or 3 visible small salmon pieces,  which were smaller than my little finger nail.  This dish would be a appropriate for Red Lobsters children's menu,  if it were priced around $6.

My wife and I ordered a total of 3 appetizers and two entrees,  with the thought that we would take a few doggy bags home.    We ate everything and both left extremely hungry and feeling taken advantage of after our $86 bill (pre-tip).  We're a skinny Seattle couple who will often split an entree at most local restaurants and leave full.  We had to hit Whole Foods on our way home and top off our meal there.

On the positive side,  the oysters were fresh and delicious,  hence the 1 star in the rating.

Service was friendly and attentive, high quality food and accordingly smaller portions. This is the place for small plate dining with a fun atmosphere. The fried oysters dredged in cornmeal were excellent, wings imaginative but the lobster roll the reason to stop. The deconstructed Crab Louie, well done but understandably small portion due to the price of dungeness.

Recently visited franks for happy hour with some classmates. It's the closest place from my house to get a drink and I always envy diners champagne as I head home to complete hours of graduate work in the evenings. We all had a champagne cocktail that was the special for the night, which was wonderful. If you're there for happy hour I recommend the bacon popcorn to snack on. And poutine. We all basically licked the cast-iron skillet clean. Actually, no. That would be a bad idea.

Great service as well. Will visit again.

We've been coming here on and off since it opened.  We love sitting at the bar.  The cocktails are a-mazing, and the food is really very good.  The menu is small, which I normally equate with better quality food.  I don't think we've ever been disappointed with a dish.

The portions are small, but I don't ding them for it.  Most places have giant portions.  I don't get the sense that they're trying to get you to order more, just that the dishes are good as they are.

We have felt rushed a time or two when sitting at a table, but the bar has always provided excellent ambiance and service.

Speaking of the bar, one of my favorite cocktails is served here.  It's called an Airmail, and it's a champagne-based cocktail.  Absolutely delicious.  Light, crisp, and just the right amount (i.e. very little) sweetness.

I went here for Sunday brunch with my husband.  I had Avocado and Tomato Eggs Benedict - which I would not order again.  I felt it was very heavy on the sauce.

My husband had Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs (Ron Swanson would approve).  He would order it again, but since we are from the South, it was suprising to him that the Steak came with brown gravy as usually Chicken Fried steak comes with white gravy.

We shared some biscuits which were awesome, some french press coffee which was fine, and had some donuts for dessert, which were fantastic and had obviously been made-to-order.

We would come here again, especially with out-of-town guests.

A longtime favorite of ours, Franks offers consistently excellent food (that is often quite creative), beautifully crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list, and something that is often overlooked in the Seattle restaurant scene: excellent, attentive service. Great for happy hour (either early or late); try the bacon chive popcorn--if you don't find yourself thinking about it days later something is likely wrong with you. Dinner is always fantastic--try the fried chicken and save room for the chocolate whiskey cake (I say that as someone who doesn't eat dessert and doesn't really like chocolate).

Brunch is also consistently excellent. I love that we can get reservations--no waiting 1+ hour for a rushed service someplace else (that likely won't be as good). The waffles are excellent, as are the eggs benedict and the oyster po'boy (perhaps the best in town).

Franks is our 'go-to' place when we have out of town guests for many of these reasons. To a person they all ask to go again when they come back.

After reading all the reviews I couldn't wait to try this place out.  Sadly, I was disappointed.  Oysters (raw and fried) were good, but that's about it.  We tried several items on the happy hour menu - chicken wings, beef slider, oyster sliders, spicy nuts, and dungeness crab lettuce cups.

Portions are quite small (happy hour and non-happy hour items).  For the price, portion, and food - I can say that I've experienced far better.

Had a bloomspot deal for this place so tried it out for brunch.  I got the shrimp and grits and my gf got the chicken fried steak.  My shrimp and grits had way too much tabasco sauce in it and that was all I could taste.  The chicken fried steak's gravy was not that great and it was really small.  I would have much rather eaten at hurricane cafe or 5 point (Both dive bar breakfast locations).   Was highly disappointed.

I love that this place is so close to home. We came in for restaurant week - and during Happy Hour! Double bonus, as I had a fabulous cocktail of the day (something sparkling bourbon, divine) and we were also able to take advantage of the house wine specials.

We had the poutine off of the HH menu, which was good but maybe not my favorite of the night. Then we each did the SRW menu; I had oysters, fried chicken and biscuit with gravy, and coconut pudding. He had a green salad, Beechers Mac and Cheese, and a chocolate tart thing. Everything was really good! That fried chicken - oh man. It had a delicate, crispy coating, which went perfectly with the lighter gravy (still flavorful) and the biscuit. I would go back just for this. The coconut pudding was rich and yummy, perfectly paired with the banana (although the vanilla wafers were a little weirdly flavored), and was the perfect finish to the meal. My husband enjoyed all of his food - I had some of his mac and cheese, which was fabulous - and all in all, we had a really good time. We also had this cute little table in a front nook, with cushions and such.

I took a look at their normal menu, which had a wide variety of small and bigger plates. I think it's probably really great for happy hour, and they also do weekend brunch. We're coming back. Chicken and waffles? Sign me up.

The only thing - I sometimes feel like the service here and at Pair can be a little cool. Not sure why, as they are both neighborhood establishments with a small town feel to them. But I can get over it.

Oysters and drinks are really good here. It's really in the name. The location is a bit odd and unassuming because it's pretty much still in the U-District (or Ravenna) just north of U-Village. It's just down the street of where Krua Thai Family Kitchen is. Who knew there'd be such a cute little restaurant in the area? The decor was very cool too, it looks like they recycled slabs of different wood and created a modern look with the various colors.

We made reservations for SRW and got there half an hour early so we waited in the lounge and ordered cocktails. I was in love with my "Air Mail" drink because it was strong, but tasty. I loved the honey after taste and it even gave me a tiny buzz even though it came in a flute. Cocktails are $9 during dinner hours.

When we were seated at our table, we pretty much knew what we were going to order. I got the fresh oysters for the appetizer, free range fried chicken for entree and my bf wanted the lime sherbet. He decided not to order off the SRW menu and got the pork loin and baked oyster bingo. We also got the deviled eggs because of all the rave reviews. We almost didn't because I don't like goat cheese, but the server let us know that they basically used goat cheese instead of mayo so I was curious. I figured it couldn't be that strong... boy, were we right - they were SO good. Some of the best deviled eggs we've ever eaten. The fried leek as the garnish was perfect and so delicious. What a unique concept to use goat cheese instead of mayo. A bit healthier too.

I was a little disappointed in my fried chicken because the skin could've been crispier and the mashed potatoes weren't very warm. But it's OK because the oysters were fresh, eggs were amazing, and I was pretty much full by the end of my meal.

My bf ate some of the sherbet but he was full too. The pork loins were pretty big pieces. Definitely got his money's worth there.

Overall, we had a really nice time and our server was super sweet and helpful. I'd like to come back for happy hour when I'm in the mood for fresh oysters again!

They were out of the Lobster Roll!   This almost ruined my evening... almost.

The steak tartare was recommended and it was excellent.  It was well season and full of flavor.  We also got the ham biscuits; a must if you are there and don't want the lobster roll... or you can have both, I am not here to judge you.

The drinks are still dynamite and so is the service.

I met my friend at Frank's for a drink. He ordered food, I only ordered a drink which, never came.  We sat at the bar and reminded bartender but 30 minutes later, still no drink. When my friend's check came gratuity was already added on a two item bill for one person (not a group).  The service wasn't worth it and I won't be going back. Too bad because the ambiance is stellar.

    I. Love. This. Restaurant!!!

I have been here several times over the past few years, and it never disappoints. I love everything about it - the name, the ambiance, the food! I usually get the fried chicken...that may sound odd, since this is pretty swank place, but it is so tender, juicy, and so flavorful...it comes with delish mashed potatoes, and TWO biscuits with honey butter. The butter is divine, btw. They give you very generous portions of the chicken too. If I'm feeling extra indulgent, I like to get the parmesan baked oysters beforehand...these are delectable, some think they're too rich, but I love 'em. At $18 for an appetizer, they're a bit of a splurge though. On the other hand, I feel like the entree prices are pretty reasonable (for a nice place, I mean.) The chicken dish is also $18, but I feel like you get pretty large portions.

I wish this restaurant was a bit closer, because I would love to try their happy hour..the  bar half is even more on the swank side, and looks like a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a cocktail after a long day.

Overall, it's a wonderful restaurant, never had a problem with the service, and would highly recommend it for a special occasion, date night, or any other night you feel like having a scrumptious dinner.

I had never ventured into this little restaurant that has been hidden for too long.

From the outside, this small restaurant is hidden between shops in an unassuming neighborhood. The inside boasts of reclaimed wood that simply lines the walls and booths, creating an effortless ambiance.

I wandered in with some friends who use this as a regular spot. We were lucky enough to come in during happy hour which runs until 6:30 pm. The happy hour menu was definitely a good deal as everything we wanted to order was conveniently part of the happy hour menu.

They offer a wide variety of oysters, truly living up to their name as an oyster and champagne parlor. We tried each variety and each mignonette. I would recommend the champagne or gin and lillet mignonette. They offer great flavor without compromising the taste and flavor of the oyster.

We tried the truffle fries that had too much cheese for anyone who doesn't love cheese. Thankfully, I love it! My crab louie salad was served in lettuce cups, which was a bit unusual but tasted fantastic! It was an incredible salad made with fresh crab and other high quality ingredients.

The staff was knowledgeable about their alcohols and menu items. Service was also very quick, despite the restaurant being pretty busy, which I found really impressive.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice happy hour in a refined and relaxed atmosphere. It has great food and incredible drink options.

Frank is such a solid name for a guy.  I picture a stand up individual, honest, trustworthy, traditional, fun and a little quirky and original.

Frank's Oyster House is all these things.  From its classy wood paneled dining room, its upscale service, its traditional menu offerings of burger, steak tartare, oysters, Franks is well worth kicking the tires and hitting up for a night on the town.

Highlights at Franks include the medium rare burger (full confession, mine was overcooked to medium, but they agreed, took it back and recooked another perfectly, so there!), generous Malbec pours for HH, and friendly, efficient service.

But not everyone is a Frank fan.  I'm pretty sure my husband did not appreciate Frank  --the fact that they ran out of all draft IPA after his first glass (no a bottle is not the same as draft), the middling HH pork tacos  (not tasty) or the dressing laden HH salad that barely revealed any greens.  Gook!

Frank is a classic.  But it's clearly not for everyone.  A class act none the less.  Prices are towards the high end, dinner prices especially are steep, but Franks' is well worth a HH stop and taste, especially if you are fond of deviled eggs, oysters, steak tartare or burgers.

Frank's is one silver tongued devil with a rustic Northwestern edge.
Deep, dark and wooden interior houses the main dining area, but the bar is where to kick it with some good drinks on a cow hide skin rug.
This is certainly one very cool, and very well hidden restaurant/bar in the neighborhood, but the main attraction is its stellar menu and oysters. Very fresh and selectively chosen.
The is dinner menu is more on the high-end, think beef and seafood tartares and rich desserts. You'll spend a pretty penny, but its worth it.
I personally recommend Brunching here. It ranges from the hearty fare to lighter tastes such as my favourite house-made greek yogurt with fresh honey and granola. The spirits have always been spot on fantastic with the right amount of strength.
Props to the staff for always being on it here too!
Although this cozy little spot can get packed quite easily, so plan ahead!

LOVE Frank's! Had brunch there this morning on a typical rainy Seattle Sunday. Love the Northwest style of the space, relaxed vibe and great food. I had the fried egg sandwich, which was delicious and messy. It was topped with fontina cheese, huckleberry jam and crispy bacon. My 12 year-old son took one bite and exclaimed "Oh ya." I'm very grateful to live near Frank's and will be back very soon to try the champagne lounge.

Had a great, casual evening at Franks.  I was visiting my best man for the weekend and he picked me up from my NYC flight on a cool, Thursday night.  Seattle mist.

We were heading up towards his house and he mentioned a place he had heard of but never tried.  Since I am always up for a dining adventure, I was game.  It was a long time since I lived in the U district but since the resturant is close, it was like going home.

We got there about the time they start their specials for their late happy hour.

We selected a fine wine, the 2008 Clayhouse, Adobe White, Viognier/Grenache Blanc/Roussanne and then started with Oysters to get the pallet primed.  We then went with the White cheddar biscuits and the Dungeness crab louie lettuce cups.  Just the right amount to take the edge off rainy in Seattle.

Franks is an ecletic neighborhood place with great food and nice folks.  It was a quiet evening and we finished up talking to the bartender and his girl friend who were ready to close up and go.  We didn't delay them too long but had a very nice chat with them.  They made Frank's a very friendly place.

This is exactly the type of place I love and since I travel about 45/52 weeks last year and dine out all the time, Frank's is a place I would love to have in each of my travel cities.  Unfortunately for me, Frank's is a Seattle find and I'll just have to wait to return to enjoy it again.  Looking forward to it.

Have always been a fan until this time. Not too busy for a Friday. Service was ok. Ordered 2 of ea oysters (8). They brought two (although later noticed and brought remaining order). Biggest disappointment was the chicken. Have ordered many times in past... But this time they were chicken strips! Wtf?   when did organic chicken come as a boneless strip?  Odd. Disappointed.   And would never order this again

Delectable mini lobster rolls (new england style, with real maine lobster), the deviled eggs are awesome.  Hit it during happy hour for extra goodies.  Frank's is a go to restaurant for us.  Foodie level quality, and great service.  Recent bone to pick:  The lobster mac & cheese, priced at market level, had no visible lobster chunks in it.  If you are going to price it at market I need more than the lobster stock and a tiny amount of barely identifiable meat.  I want to know I'm eating lobster.  Also, for the love of god bring back the beef sliders you had.  It was one of your best dishes.

I went for a brunch to celebrate and chose Frank's recommended as upscale (read pricey), but worth every dollar. And this is why. Ambiance- artsy, down to Earth, recycled decor, with comfortable seating and pillows. Light- perfect on that typical cloudy, but not raining, Seattle Saturday and we were seated across the bar with good views of street and bar inside.
I have had simple breakfast, two eggs over easy, confit (cook in lard or in neutral oil, but mostly in lard) potatoes and Kurobuta ham. My partner had Eggs Florentine. My combo was first class, but eggs Florentine were out of this world. The fluffy omelet hid a combo of spinach, gravy of some sort, onions, and bread crumbs with tons of butter. Perfect combo of flavors with just rightly cooked eggs makes such incredible tasty combo then married with onions, spinach and gravy.  It is a party in your mouth and food should always be that.
From the scratch cocktails.. about $55 including tip. Worth every dollar.

This is a great, cozy neighborhood joint. The food is top notch. One thing to bear in mind: if you're really hungry, head elsewhere. It's one of those restaurants that gives you lots and lots of time to relax and soak it all in before serving you. I don't think they are that slow due to inefficiency since it cant take that long to prep oysters among other things.

Price wise, a little steep. We walked out for about $50/person with only two out of the six drinking wine.

I really like the look of this restaurant - unfinished cedar, studded bar seats, and large inviting booths. I felt comfy as soon as I sat down. Had a late brunch here on a Saturday and there were only a few other patrons, so we were seated immediately, and service was very attentive.

I had the oyster po boy sandwich. The oysters were plump and tasty. It wasn't overcooked and gummy, which I commonly encounter when I get battered oysters. However, they were excessively crispy on the outside, maybe from too much batter or the batter was overfried? I also had a few bits of oyster shells in my first bite...yikes! I would've given them 4 stars, but the oyster shells were not pleasant, especially since I have braces. My bf had the fried chicken and waffle. The fried chicken was really good, but only 2 small pieces with his order.

Perhaps I should come back for happy hour for raw oysters next time.

Had a lovely brunch here with the boy one Saturday afternoon. I've been meaning to come by for happy hour for quite some time, but a brunch deal surfaced and I couldn't say no. We came rather late, near the very tail end of brunching hours, and were one of two parties in the restaurant.

I love the decor, but it felt a bit sparse when we were nearly alone in there. I imagine it's more welcoming when it's busier and louder. Still, the woods and spacious booths made for a good setting.

The boy had the oyster po'boy and I went wild and ordered the dungeness crab Benedict. I'm not an oyster fan (oh the irony) so I didn't try it but it was good-sized and piled high with crispy fried oysters. He loved it. My Benedict was delightful, on crispy muffins with perfectly-poached eggs and tangy, creamy bearnaise sauce. Could have used more crab for the $15 price tag, but then again, when couldn't something use more crab? We also tried the malasadas, which came out piping hot and sinfully soft, delicious with pineapple ginger jam and coconut cream.

I was somewhat less impressed with the drinks options. We ordered a French press, which was $4 and amounted to nearly-two small cups each. The cream brought to us was shallow, and although the sugar cubes were a nice touch, I would have appreciated tongs so I could have been somewhat reassured that everyone else hadn't felt up the sugar cubes before me. I was also unimpressed with the service - our server was sullen and glum. I don't need waitstaff to be jumping with joy or falling over themselves with excitement to serve me, but a smile would have been nice.

A pleasant enough brunch, almost entirely for the food. I would love to return and try the happy hour, if I can lure the boy back with the promise of fresh oysters.

Hello my new love!  Frank's is close to my house and why have I waited so long to try this place out?!

When I first heard of this place, the name itself made me think of a stuffy old parlor filled with smoke - this place is anything but.  The atmosphere is cozy (in the bar/lounge side) and the main dining space is nice as well.

I went with a few co-workers for happy hour and we decided we need to make it our Friday after work spot to unwind.  The drinks were good (I wish they were stiffer) and the small plates were delicious.

Totally looking forward to going back.

Frank's has now been added to my all time favorite locations for Happy Hour.

Oysters are $1.50 each during HH and they'll usually have 3 or 4 choices.  The last couple of visits, they had Penn Cove, Treasure Bay and Fanny Bay.   Also, try their amazing po-boy oyster sliders; the outside is crispy as a fried catfish and so tender and tasty inside - no slimy aftertaste or explosion of fishy oyster belly either!

Free range fried chicken:  not your everyday fried chicken, that's for sure.  Boneless chicken that possesses the characteristics of a chicken tender that has been upgraded five levels.  This is the first time I admit that fried chicken without a hard crispy, crunchy shell has me down on my knees begging for more.  But wait, that isn't the WHOLE story.  A simple, shallow gravy pool and delicate portion of mashed potatoes reside next to these lovely golden treasure pieces.  What really carries this all over the top:  a side of fresh, hot biscuits and the fabulous honey butter that just melts in your mouth!!

Don't take my word for it as it must be experienced.  All I can do is smile as I tell you my take.  I look forward to seeing Frank's yet again and my tip is to remember to ask for hot sauce for them oysters and fried chicken.  =)

I've always loved dinner (and happy hour!) here, but they recently opened up for brunch on the weekends, and it's awesome. I just got back from having fried chicken and waffles, and it was amazing - heads and tails beyond any combination of the two I've had before. They've got a lot of good brunch-y type stuff, but also a few lunch-type things like sandwiches and salads.

They also have a bunch of special cocktails for brunch - definitely get them with the scone pairing, which are really creative (like a Bloody Mary and an olive scone).

This restaurant is definitely a nice little surprise in this neighborhood.  My husband and I were visiting foodie friends in Seattle, and they suggested this place.

The interior is definitely cozy and very woody. ;)

We tried some of their oysters (one of our friends unfortunately had a bad one, but made a mad dash to the bathroom to expunge it from his system).  This was the only bad experience of the night, and our friend, who's eaten tons of oysters, said that it was one of the unavoidable risks of eating them.
TIP:  A bad oyster will taste metallic or tinny.  The fresh ones have a nice, briny, sea taste.

I had the halibut, and my husband tried the barbequed pork.  Both were wonderful.

There was a summer dessert on the menu that we all split - a berry and peach layer cake that was a perfect and fluffy end to our meal.  Our server gets a solid "B" - not obtrusive nor obsequious, but not outrageously helpful either.

And YES, the portion sizes are a  bit smaller than you might get at the local "pig out on our seafood-a-rama bonanza" restaurants, but this should not be a deterrent.  They're actually the proper portion sizes that won't leave you feeling like a bloated cow when you're done.  AND you'll have room for dessert.

    I agree.

Arriving just under the wire at their late-night happy hour, Christian and I flopped into the oversized leather love seat and gazed upon the deconstructivist, obviously hand-hewn wood-layered walls and the Flying Spaghetti Monster overhead lamp. So lost in reverie was he that I was formally tasked with ordering, and this I did, though insufficiently...because the kind of deliciousness Frank's dished out to us brought forth a ravenous and unquenchable passion.

Soon after ordering we were issued a small constellation of plates. Upon each was centered a tiny, private galaxy of OH MY GOD THAT IS EXQUISITE.

Truffle skins: slender chic ovals of heaven browned perfectly with fontina and truffle oil. I cry from gratitude.

The oysters: a sweet and perfectly calibrated brine, salty and full-bodied. Probably Kumamotos but the best damn Kumamotos I have ever, EVER had; I think these were maybe home-schooled, virgin Kumamotos who were trained in the Suzuki method and allowed to paint during math class, and had a large wooden play structure in their lawn; they were divine, the oyster flesh white, plump and simply perfect. They arrived in a mote of celestial light, with much bustling-aside of cherubs, and were devoured summarily with Cujo-like restraint.

Then the little fried clam strips, in a light Panko-like breading. I nearly genuflected to every plate I was smart enough to order, and am still lamenting every one I didn't have the foresight to request. God damn, Frank's, you complete me. I loosen my corset now, that I may swoon more fully in your direction.

We are never NOT coming back.

Frank's Oyster House is one sexy place.
    Want to know why?
Here it is: oysters, goat cheese deviled eggs, and biscuits so good they make you have a moment.

I have only had oysters two times in my life before this, and the fact that the waiter explained every kind of oyster as well as the qualities they have was great. I learned alot about oysters, and I actually can say I like them now. During HH they are a whopping $1.50 each. Any oyster. My date and I ordered a lot. The goat cheese deviled eggs are $2 during happy hour and I think we probably ordered about 5 orders. I kid you not. The biscuits come with ham and apple butter and were hot, steamy, and melt in your mouth good.

The scene here is perfect for a date, and our service was ON IT all night. I will so come back here.

    Love... love. Love, love love.

If you're looking for somewhat upscale dinner and/ or drinks in sexytown, Frank's should be at or near the top of your list.

We'd been meaning to check out Frank's for sometime now. I mean, an oyster house/ champagne parlor?! Yeah, this is totally my scene. When we arrived here last night, we were very pleasantly surprised with how fantastic the space is.

Divided up into two rooms, there's the dining room (booths and few tables) and there's the bar. We didn't have any reservations and we knew we were going to end up in the lounge, and that was totally fine... it ended up working out: we grabbed a couple of eclectic chairs and a small table in the very back of the place.

Within just a few short minutes (not even), Trevor appeared, bringing menus and water. I decided on High Tea (Earl Grey tea infused Bombay gin, honey and lemon- straight up) when my gent went the Manhattan route. Craft cocktails are made very well here; it's clear they pride themselves in how their made. Both were perfectly boozy and delicious.

We ended up ordering a smattering of small plates... and while a tad on the pricey side, everything exceeded our expectations.

*Albacore tuna carpaccio- daikon-cucumber salad, sake vinaigrette: though delicious, this wasn't the big winner at the table. The tuna was great, we just ordered so many other delicious things, it was tough for it to compete.
*Chilled wild prawns w/ cocktail sauce- comes out in a fun ice cube. Their cocktail sauce packs a punch with lots of horseradish. Delish.
*Fried Quinault razor clams with house made tartar- These were great. The clams were really flavorful and huge... and the tartar was tasty.
*White Cheddar biscuits with Beecher's cheese, Kurobuta ham, Calvados apple butter- Just the right amount of cheese and ham involved the apple butter is what really makes these special.
*Asparagus & watercress salad with Champagne vinaigrette, truffle oil & hazelnuts- Lovely. Just the right amount of truffle oil, asaparagus perfectly crisp, and the hazelnuts made for a nice accompaniment.

Trevor remained as attentive and as friendly (we were never rushed) as when we first sat down, throughout the entire meal. Nevermind that he was also the bartender, the both of were pretty sure we haven't had this caliber of service in Seattle in quite some time.

We ended our night with the Banana Split. Cherry, banana, and chocolate ice cream surrounded by torched bananas, candied pecans, fudge & caramel... topped with whip cream and a wafer: incredible. Best dessert we've had in ages. I couldn't eat too much of the ice cream, but the bites I did take were tasty.

Presentation for the dishes here is great. The decor and ambiance- like I said- is sexytown. And the service is hustlin'. Everyone works hard here at Frank's. Everyone.

Frank's isn't an inexpensive place to dine. It set us back about $100 with tip, but it was totally worth it. Everything was spot on and it was so much fun. We'll definitely be back here on those nights where we want to take it up a notch.

Wow -- what an unexpected shot of glamour in suburbia. A certain someone told me about Frank's a while ago, and we immediately decided to check out their happy hour ASAP. But after a day of shopping in U. Village this weekend with Heidi F., we found ourselves hungry and in the mood for something a little more sophisticated than The Ram. I knew Frank's was nestled somewhere in the 'hood, close to its sister restaurant, Pair, so it was a no-brainer. Loyalty be damned -- I knew Frank's was just what I needed. And I was right.

We walked into the champagne parlor and saddled up to the two available chairs at the bar, taking in our stylish surroundings. This place is so well-designed and sexy -- wood-paneled walls, gorgeous couches, footstools and seating arrangements, perfect lighting. Our bartender was incredibly attentive and cheerful. I tried a Dover-Calais (gin, St. Germain Elderflower, Chartreuse) and felt warm and fuzzy by the third sip. Frank's has a great cocktail menu with lots of interesting, yummy looking concoctions; I can't wait to go back and try them all.

Unfortch, we missed happy hour (offered even on Saturdays!), so we decided to split an entree: the seared duck breast with fontina grits. OMG. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Our bartender split our entree for us even though we hadn't requested it -- another mark of fantastic service.

I was so enamored by the whole experience that I found myself uncharacteristically gushing to other patrons standing in line for the bathroom. You'd never guess that Frank's has only been in business for 11 weeks -- they run a tight ship. I can't wait to go back.

Hello my new best friend :)

So earlier, which you will get to read my review for pair... is owned by the same people as franks.... (they met in san francisco and moved to seattle and opened frank's and pair ) awesome dynamic duo :)

    going on...

my girlfriend at work was raving about Frank's and I had to swing on by after our great dining experience at pair.... :) The customer service here was magnificent... they were so kind to us, and told us it was happy hour, and what was good, and what wasn't. being friendly is my weakness.. I love it!!! Please my dear bartender/owner of this restaurant what should I drink and eat... I kept asking and my delightful drink was tasty and strong. it had champagne and orange bitters in it.... and I think a little rum, who knows... and my friend had a very delightful cocktail which we couldn't figure out but it was strong hahaha....

The food was late night bar food so I can't review the food just yet... but trust me.... when I come back for food.. it'll be on my update list.. but for the experience that I had just for a cocktail and some homemade chips and dill dip.. hell yes.. it was pretty memorable!! :)

What?  No Reviews yet?  How is this possible?     As a huge fan of the Pair experience,  I've been looking forward to Frank's opening up.  These places are very close to home, so any new tenants are welcome to my neighborhood.

Anyway, the decor is amazing... a stunning presentation of reclaimed wood.     I've been to the recycled materials store, before.  I've even purchased wood there.  This however is genius.    My dining companion and I could not stop talking about it.   The vibe is a little more casual and laid back than Pair, plus it caters to drinking a little better...

Anyway, we were looking for drinks first, so we sat in the comfy cozy parlor and enjoyed a cocktail from their vast drink list.   The have a very impressive diverse menu.   We weren't really starving so we split   the delicious butter leaf wedge and their burger.  Burger is top notch coupled with some great fries.    We had a couple Peronis and I was seriously impressed with how deliciously cold this beer was.  Then as we walked out I realized they had cold beer on their window graphics.  Its good to know they deliver as advertised.

No oysters this time... but we'll be back very soon.  Thank you for staying in the neighborhood.
