Clearly you know I'm from Jersey when I do a Yelp search for sandwich and I'm shocked and appalled when only a few places turn up. Seattle, I think I found your weak spot.
The man and I trekked to Cap Hill before our flight to check it out, as well as pick up some sammies for the plane ride home. I walked in and was immediately transplanted back to my college days in Boulder. I don't know why, but this place just has that collegesque vibe. The menu is somewhat limited with about 10 hot sandwiches and 3-4 cold sandwiches (they also have a whole list for vegetarians, but I'm not counting those). We got the sammy's to go along with some WA state potato chips as a treat.
Fast forward 5-6 hours later, wedged into our seats on United, it was time for dinner. We broke these bad boys out and were we glad we prepared. We started off with the Fast Eddie: Thinly sliced in- house roasted tri-tip steak, melted pepper jack, sauteed onions, mama lil's sweet hot peppers, and aioli on a demi baguette. Wow. It was cold at this point and still really good. The meat was so tender and juicy and combined with the melted cheese and aioli, the thing was just a gooey delicacy. It was a rather nicely sized sandwich as well, so there's that. I didn't think we could top that experience until the Club Tasty came around.
In- house roasted all natural turkey breast, zoe's black forest ham and thick sliced bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, mix greens, tomato, pickle, red onion, mayo, and mustard on a demi baguette. Yes... YES! It was delicious. Filling, but refreshing and crispy too! I was seriously super sad when this eating experience was over; I wanted more.
The chips were whack. I mean, they were delicious, all 8 of them, but there was more air than chips. The sandwiches are no joke, but $11 for a sammy... that's pricy. I just checked the menu and realized you get fries or salad with them which we clearly didn't get (maybe the chips replaced them?). I don't know what's up, but the sammy and salad/fries for $11 is well worth it; the sammy alone (or even with chips) for $11, we're in baller status territory.
Definitely a great sandwich spot. This would be my local joint for sure if this was my 'hood.
Now that I am living here in Seattle I am privileged to have such a great meal within walking distance of my place. I tried this last night and it was phenomenal. I'd suggest one of their hot meaty sandwiches (you can substitute a salad or coleslaw for fries at no charge). I have a feeling I'll be eating here often. FYI - a $10 sandwich can easily feed two moderately hungry people.
Review Source:I love me a good sandwich but these are better then good :0 I wish the service had been a little better and they would have earned my fifth star. Wasn't bad just wasn't clear who was the server.. Our server took our order and dropped our check.. The servers "assistant"? Did everything else.. Mm just give me a sandwich!
Review Source:My sister knows a thing or two about where to find awesome food in Seattle ha ha!
Honeyhole was a great recommendation by her. I can't believe she's never brought me here for lunch but I was in here the other day and had the Gooch and it was one of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever eaten anywhere. Kind of spicy hot and salty. The bread it came on was excellent, too.
I can't wait to come back here again and possibly try some other menu items, although I'd be very tempted to have the Gooch again!
i came here with the impression that i was gonna eat a light meal - sandwiches, salad, soup... i was dead wrong. my roommate warned me though, saying it's heavy and more for midnight munchies. she was totally hit the nail on the head with this one.
i got the tri tip french dip and the hubs got a pastrami. both the sandwiches were good, plenty of meat, cheese, and packed full of flavor. it was greasy and heavy for the first meal of the day. the au jus for the tri tip french drip was super rich and made for the great pairing with the sandwich.
everything was good but just greasy.
Had to wait a while but was soo worth it. I got the dude and the steak was so juicy and tender and not fatty at all. The whole sandwich went well together. My fiancé got the Texas tease and it was super good. A little spicy and sweet. Excellent BBQ sauce. My friend got the Buford and it was also good. But mine the dude was the best and all my friends and fiancé agreed!
Review Source:Went here for the first time. Bussed to downtown with my friend and we were trying to figure out what to eat. My suggested we go to honey hole and I'm always down to try new places, especially sandwiches. It was a walk but the day was nice. Went in and the vibe was really chill. Order at the counter and went to choose our seats. I ordered "the dude" sandwich and a side of fries. My friend got "the gooch" and boy were those sandwiches good. I'm definitely coming back here in the future.
Review Source:Came here with a friend a few days ago. I tried the gooch and my friend got the dude. We both agreed that there was WAY too much horseradish mayo on the sandwiches. The service was quick and friendly but the food was difficult to eat. We both ended up trying to wipe off as much of the mayo as we could with a fork and napkin. My friend loves horseradish, but she said it was just way to strong to enjoy. If I came back, I would ask for no mayo.
Review Source:Holy Honey Hole, Batman. Â This place is legit. Â If it's one place that I'm glad I dragged my ass in a plane to Seattle from NYC to work a booth at a packed conference, it's got to be this place. Â I was seriously impressed. Â I got The Dude, which was flank steak. Â Steak was perfectly cooked, bread was warm and crunchy, all the other components melded together and gave me the energy I needed to last the rest of the day talking non-stop trying to promote my video game.
The fact that they had beer and a full service bar is also an excellent addition.
Really can't say anything bad about this place. Â I just want to take everything back to NYC so I can eat this every day.
Also, I appreciate unique sandwich names. Â Not enough places do this.
Was looking for a place on Pike with good drinks and food, and stumbled upon this place. What a find! Had a decent beer selection, but I had the whiskey ginger, which they made with Reed's Ginger Beer - yum! Had their veggie chilli cheese fries and it absolutely hit the spot on a night out.
Definitely a place I would check out to try out more of their menu.
What a neat place. While visiting our daughter, we wanted a good burger/sandwich and she threw this out as an option. So glad she did.
Read the reviews, and some were less than impressed with the inside, but loved the food.
I LOVED the inside look! And fortunately, the food did not disappoint.
My burger was Yummy! And Huge! So was my hubby's.
and for my daughter, gluten free bun!
Excellent staff, quick service.
Will be back next time.
I've been hearing about HoneyHole for over 10 years and just recently made it there mid-week. It's not where I thought it was, nor did it look like I had pictured in my mind. Snagged a great parking spot a block away and was getting more excited as I approached. For some reason I thought it was going to be a super dumpy little hole in the wall. Â It's a nice little space with a good handful of seats up front and a tiki bar in the corner. Â Our server was friendly and quickly brought our beer and cider. The Waverider was tasty but could have used a couple slices of bacon - ditto the grilled chicken sandwich. Piping hot fries and a tub of ranch, what more could you ask for? A bit spendy for sandwiches, fries and beer, but I got to take home half of my sandwich for the next morning's breakfast.
Review Source:This place is eclectic and fun! Loved the décor and the casual scene. My friend got The Dude and I got the Fast Eddie. Both were very delicious and large!!!  The steak in the sandwich was tender and juicy.  The French fries were also delicious, loved the crispy ones!  Definitely check this place out!
Review Source:I have only ever ordered The Gooch but I love it so much I can't bring myself to order anything else yet! Super soft french baguette piled with tender, quality roast beef and oozing with cheeeese and little peppers (: Â The same little peppers are in the au jus that you get with your sandwich, and it is to die for. The whole thing is just exploding with spicy, savory, and sweet melt in your mouth flavors... it's amazing!
Review Source:YUM! Delicious sandwich place with good, strong drinks for a fair price. The sandwiches are huge and really perfect. It's kind of a hole in the wall, has a dive-y feel, some tables, and a cute small bar area where you can sit. Husband and I shared the fast eddie and we both were so into it. The tri tip was moist and dripping with flavor, the sauteed onions were a great add, with peppers, aioli, and melty pepper jack on a crusty baguette. I've been craving another sandwich from here ever since!
Review Source:Beware that this restaurant takes a LONG time to get your meal out during busy periods like in the afternoon. I had the waverider sandwich, and I thought it was pretty on par with the price I paid. I always judge expensive sandwiches based on the sauces and blends they use. I could tell they put a lot of thought into the pesto. The portion was big enough as well for the price I paid (by Seattle standards).
My only gripe is that they don't have enough selection of breads for the sandwiches. Would be better if we could choose from different varieties.
My friend had the lentil soup in a bowl. It's a huge bowl and the lentil soup was very green and creamy, which is a sign that it's well-prepared.
I'll keep this one simple: Great sandwiches with booze. Can't go wrong with that.
I have yet to come here for happy hour, but this is my go to spot for awesome sandwiches. It's really close to my work, so I have cycled through pretty much all their menu items. I'm being completely honest when I say I loved every single sandwich I tried. My top 3 favorites: BLT, the Gooch (with delicious salty au jus that I could drink), and the Waverider. Get your sandwich with a side of fries for $2, it's an absolute must. Their fries are crunchy, meaty, and delicious with a side of their garlic aoili (Careful with the garlic breath, that stuff is gnarly in the best way possible).
The restaurant is a small space but they work with it cleverly and it's actually a really nice atmosphere to be in. Kinda hipster, but it's cap hill, what do you expect. All in all, great food with great prices and great people. HoneyHole is bomb dot com.
Granted I've only been in Seattle a short time and still have yet to try Paseo and Salumi but with that said Honey Hole is at the top of my sandwich list (to date). Â Went on a Monday around 9pm so it was easy to get a seat. Â
Food - I know they have other things on the menu but you go for the sandwiches. Â My friend and I split the Buford T. Justice and the Fast Eddie. Â Both damn good. Â Can't wait to try the others. Â
Service - friendly.
Atmosphere - it's a low key, pseudo-divey vibe (in the good way). Â The decor is eclectic. Â There are paper mache fish hanging from the ceiling along with framed photos from the God Father and my personal favorite a photo of Scott Baio. Â
Go. Â It's worth it. Â I'm looking forward to going and trying their various sandwiches and nightly specials.
I was taken here shortly after a long cross-country flight. Part of me just wanted to sleep but the prospect of beer and a sandwich was too appealing to turn down. I'm glad I didn't because the HoneyHole was fantastic. Being in Seattle it was very hipsterish but the staff was friendly and service was good. They had an interesting selection of local beer on tap. What impressed me most was the food they serve here. The sandwich that I had was excellent and it came with very hot and crispy french fries. I only made it here once so I'm not too much of an authority on their menu but if I ever come back to Seattle I'll be stopping by.
Review Source:Waverider? Yes, please! Smoked gouda, sweet peppers, and pesto.
They actually make pretty tasty cocktails.
I personally would skip the vegetarian sandwiches. They're pretty salty and I never like the texture in my mouth. There's not much to say about this place. It's delicious and consistent. You should go!
It pains me to know that this place was just a walk away, but never visited.
A hole in the wall barbecue spot is just what I needed.
Buford T. Justice sandwich = FTW. Â So much flavor, perfect texture... even when we thought it was too much cole slaw, it just worked. Â Barbecue sauce wasn't thick like I had expected, but again it worked wonderfully. It's too bad this wasn't my meal (I had a salad instead!).
Drinks, food... all good and all at a great price!
The service also stood out... not to say everything was done perfectly, but the staff took responsibility when something was done wrong, and they were both so happy, friendly, and real!
This place seems super hipster, but don't be shy because there is something for everyone. If you are looking for a hot sandwich, it will be hard to find one better than the HoneyHole.
The sandwiches here are very unique and the flavors are paired well together. My husband and I shared The Gooch and The Fast Eddie. Both were tri tip and both were delicious but don't get the Gooch if you don't like horseradish because it is very strong. The tri tip is very tender and the cheese is melted just right. The bread makes or breaks a sandwich and HoneyHole scores big with their bread. The bread is crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside...but not too soft that it falls apart before you finish your sandwich.
I'd recommend ordering fries with your sandwich because sides are not included with your sandwich and I wish I had just a little something more with my meal.
Wow. The waverider had amazing reviews... but I still didn't expect it to be that good! The pesto, the chicken breast, and the gouda cheese made this sandwich (on a baguette) simply delightful!
In addition to great eats, the actual establishment is very interesting and will hold your attention for quite some time (mostly because of the unique art on the wall... but especially because of the bulls (?) head that is mounted atop of the entrance and has 2 red bulbs in place of eyes. Good times, and good eats!
Oh Honeyhole, you're the only place I giggle at while telling everyone where to get delicious food and freshly squeezed juice cocktails.
I love your freshly squeezed juice cocktails! Your happy hour is awesome, and your sandwiches are "finger lickin' good"....
I had the Buford T. Justice after being on hiatus for 5-ish years? I'm sure it wasn't that long, but it sure felt like it. I did take this sandwich and fries to go... oh man! I was in bbq heaven! BBQ shredded pork, cole slaw, a nice crusty bread and some other things I can't remember totally reminded me why I love Capitol Hill.
The next sandwich I tried, about a month and a half or so after my Buford experience was The Gooch. Funny name, but the sandwich, was super serious! Tri tip beef, red onions, horseradish mayo, sharp cheddar and a side of aus jus! I wanted to cry it was so damn good! I'm glad I had split the sandwich with my gal pal, or else I would have had someone roll me down to my bus stop on 2nd and pike!
As for drinks, I had a greyhound (grapefruit juice and vodka) and my that was super simple and refreshing! Talk about revamping the typical well drink. The juice isn't out of a can, so the alcohol mixes well with the nice fresh juice! The other drink I had I the next happy hour my gal pal and I went to I can't recall. However, I remember it was peach nectar and whiskey in it and it was pretty good... but I really like the greyhound. That will be my new happy hour go-to cocktail!
I can't wait to spend more time here. It's so close to my work, I can stop by every day!
You are the sweetest honeyhole next to the best sex shop in town (Babeland is literally right next door... oh my!!!).
Yummmmmmy
We live just down the street from here and we finally gave it a try. Â WOW.
We have tried the:
Corleone - Classic Pastrami, sauerkraut, and yellow mustard - greasy and delicious
Chachi's Favorite - Turkey and cheese
Fast Eddie - Tri-trip steak and sweet hot peppers
Buford T. Justice - Sweet BBQ Pork
(All very hearty portions, and very delicious)
We have only ordered out, so I can't speak to the service or atmosphere...but the sandwiches are tasty :)
I've always wanted to try honeyhole, but never got around to it - so one day, i decided to order a couple of sandwiches to go for dinner. I wanted to order the corelone and burford justice but they were out of the corelone, so I went for the gooch. I didn't know what to expect when i picked up the sandwiches, but was definitely satisfied as soon as i took the first bite. I had the burford justice and bf had the gooch. Mine was hearty and spread with just the right amount of bbq sauce. The gooch was spilling meat! Their au jus was also yum but a bit on the salty side. All in all, we were happy and very very full...wish it wasn't so messy.
I'm looking forward to trying the corelone!
My intern introduced me to this awesome sandwich shop in Cap Hill. Â When he first said Honey Hole (I thought he said Money Hole) - I must admit, I was super skeptical.
5 stars for French Dip Fridays.
5 stars for beer at lunchtime.
One of the best sandwiches I've had in a LONG time. Â The bread is so good. Â Low key, casual and delicious. Â Clearly, I need to dig myself out of the Eastside black hole and stop by Cap Hill more often.
"Hey, meet me at Honeyhole on Pike for happy hour."
"Uh, the sex shop?"
"No, next to the sex shop, on Sandwich Row."
Honeyhole is probably my favorite spot to get a sandwich in Seattle. Â It's a casual place, with weird tiki decor. Â The happy hour is great, with cheap beer and food specials. Â The best part, though, is that if you're a vegetarian there's still a great selection for you. Â My favorite sandwiches, the Emilio Pestovez and the El Guapo, are both excellent. Â Out of all the sandwich places on Sandwich Row (that 2-block stretch of Pike) Honeyhole is the clear winner.
Been to HoneyHole a dozen times - no idea why I am just now writing a review!
There isn't a whole lot to say - the sandwiches are frickin fantastic, the beer is awesome, the environment and atmosphere is perfect. Â
One thing I will elaborate a bit on, though, is their vegetarian menu. Â I am *not* a vegetarian... I love me some greasy meat of any color and don't mind admitting it. Â But I also love veg food and am always looking for places with awesome face-free offerings. Â Let me tell ya folks, the Field Roast these guys over at HoneyHole are using is laced with love or crack or something because now - meat eater that I am - I cannot order anything else off the menu! Â I have become a HoneyHole-specific vegetarian.
HoneyHole was the first stop on a Seattle sandwich excursion. My party of 4 showed up around 9 on a Friday night and the place was packed! We got on a list and moved outside to wait. I don't think the server expected us to wait for a 4 top. He popped his head out the door several times to apologize for the wait with a look of surprise that we were still there waiting. It took over an hour for a table to open up although the server did find us room to wait at the bar after 30-40 minutes. Our friends that brought us said that they have never waited that long for a table so I think it may have been just bad timing.
Once we were seated, we were promptly helped and our meals were brought out quickly. I noticed right away that HoneyHole carried more steak options for their sandwiches then I'm used to so I figured this must be their thing. I ordered the Fast Eddie and was not disappointed! The sandwich was large (I only finished half) and came with fries. This is one of the better steak sandwiches I've had to date. The meat was not tough or fatty and HH stacked it with a good quantity of it too. The cheese way melty and gooey. The peppers brightened up the whole flavor profile. Bread was perfect for the sandwich and made me really curious about how good the french dip may be.
The decor was a little odd. While waiting for our table we tried to determine what they were going for but couldn't really figure it out. Pictures of musicians, movie posters, bright colors, dark lighting, skeletons...and I think I remember seeing a giant fish? I do like a little more light when I'm eating, but no matter, the sandos were delish.
I would love to give this place 5 stars because the food was just so delicious. If food were the only factor, definitely 5 stars. Half the things on the menu sounded so yummy that I couldn't choose. I got the Bellisimo, which was a hot vegetarian sandwich and shared half/half with my friend who got The Dude, which had steak in it.
When we got there for dinner, it was packed. I loved the atmosphere inside. The dim but fancy lighting (you probably know what I'm talking about), the cool pieces of artwork hanging from the ceiling, I loved it! The wait was 20 minutes, which seemed forever because I was so dang hungry. Watching people eat their sandwiches was killing mee.
The entrance to HoneyHole is a bit tight, and we felt as if we were getting in the way of a lot of people, so we moved to the back area because we saw two guys who were also standing there waiting to be seated. The hostess was a bit rude to us (hence 4 stars). It seemed perfectly fine that the guys were waiting there but told us to move to the front, in a rude manner. It would've been fine if she was nice about it, because it was busy after all. When we got seated and got our food, we asked for an extra fork to share the salad. While she was catering to other customers' needs, such as bringing them ranch for their fries etc, we ended up having to share the fork as well. It wasn't a huge deal, but I think customer service is just as important as the taste of food!
WIth that being said, everything was so good. The Bellisimo was light but still good. Such an interesting combination of ingredients that went well with each other. The Dude was SO GOOD TOO. I think I like it a bit more than the Bellisimo. The steak..the honey mustard (? I don't know exactly what sauce but it tasted like honey mustard).. the veggies inside.. just too good.
I do want to come back for more to try their other popular sandwiches, but I will probably come back for lunch time because it is cheaper during lunch.
If you were to tell me that this place made awesome sandwiches (as well as vegetarian sandwiches), I probably would not believe you at first. Â Who knew that quality food could be found in between Babeland and a Wiccan magic bookstore of some sort? Â I have walked on Pike St over and over, and previously ignored HoneyHole. Â My honest mistake.
I walked in and I thought I was walking into a séance in progress. This restaurant is very dark with rather eclectic wall decor. Eventually, you'll get used to it.  Or you will forget about it entirely as your eyes gaze upon other people's sandwiches, and wonder if these are the types of foods that compel people to spontaneously break out in song and dance. Â
Service was friendly for the two minutes that he took my order. Â There is limited seating here, and this place gets pretty busy for lunch. Â It also took a good 10-15 minutes before I received my order. Â Noise level can get a little bit loud, too, so you will find yourself wanting to talk over others just to talk with your friend/colleague/partner. Â This wasn't a big deal to me, as I only want to believe that they are spending extra time perfecting their sandwiches with magical unicorn extract.
Not a big meat or cheese fan, I went with the Bellissimo sandwich sans cheese.  I know, to the average person, anything without cheese sounds incredibly uninspired and bland.  Trust me, it wasn't.  I rarely ever find a good, vegan sandwich until I met the Bellissimo.  Let alone toasted and warm.  On a hot demi-baguette, there is sensually smoked tomato field roast, voluptuous roma tomatoes, sautéed onions, sexual banana peppers, fresh basil, passionately lathered with red pepper mayonnaise and a splash of red wine vinegar.  Can you say aphrodisiac?  This sandwich was highly seasoned, flavorful, and the peppers were the perfect touch.
Because it wasn't 2013 at the time, and I hadn't set my resolutions, I ordered a side of fries for the hell of it. Â It was perfectly crispy and lightly salted, which only added to its perfection. Â This was a great lunch. Â I've also found my go-to salon a couple of blocks away from HoneyHole, so I will be frequenting this spot more often in the future.
I used to be a regular at HoneyHole during my college years since it was a walk away from Seattle University. Nowadays, I'll stop by here on occasion just because their sandwiches are so damn good!
Before HoneyHole, I was a cold sandwich kinda girl only because those sandwiches take less time to prep. Anyways, thanks to this place, I became fond of hot sandwiches. There are only 2 sandwiches that I order from HoneyHole: The Gooch (love the au jus!) and The Bandit. I'm sure the other items they offer are just as good but I admit, I do like to stick with my favorites.
Sure, the price might seem high but these sandwiches always leave me feeling stuffed.
It's been too long, Honeyhole.
When people complain about how pricy their sandwiches are, I want to stick one of their seasoned fries in their... just kidding. I wouldn't waste the fry ;)
My fave sandwich here is the Chachi's Favorite. I think it is especially delicious since I remember who Chachi was. Peppered turkey, havarti (?), and tomato on a toasted, warm hoagie, dee-rowning in ranch dressing. Sounds simple, right? Like you could just whip this up at home and it would be the same? It never works out at my house; if it does at yours, can I come over?
A close second is the toasted vegetarian El Guapo. Tomato sauce and chunky veggies with smoked cheese...the best part about this one is that you don't feel guilty after eating it. Which means I can order TWO sides of fries.
They have a full, regular dinner menu here, cold sandwiches (not my thing), hot sandwiches, good soup (they run out sometimes!) and a quirky little bar. If you call in your order for lunch, you're SUPPOSED to be able to edge your way up through the line and ask for your order, but the death stares will give you nightmares later.
Best just to wait.
Honeyhole is over-all just a great restaurant experience. I have been here a couple of times and was not disappointed.
Their service is quick and unassuming. During the weekends they are pretty full but they move the food and drinks pretty quickly so the wait for a table is no more then 15 minutes.
The food is great! Their vegetarian sandwiches are especially good. I recommend the Jook and the El Guapo. I also really like the chicken pesto burger.
One thing that I really like about Honeyhole is that they put thought into their dishes. The salad and fries come in a reasonable quantity. Not too much or too little. And the bread or bun is always cut to the size of the burger patty or chicken breast. I love their attention to detail. They also serve all the popular local brews to pair with your sandwich or burger.
