I went to the Hose Trough Tavern last week and LOVED IT! Â The hospitality was just great! Eddie the bartender and Patty the owner are so welcoming. You can tell they have a solid group of regulars but welcomed us with open arms when we walked in. The music was loud and everyone loved it! I have to say I may become a regular of the Hose Trough Tavern myself!!
Review Source:This place is awesome.  I lived around the corner in my first apartment out of college, first job.  Many a night did I wander into the House Trough to  hang out with the guys.  So named because of the fire station across the way-- when the hoses are hung up to dry, they drain into the trough and the firehouse dog can belly up for a drink.
Review Source:Well, if you're looking for a classy establishment, this is not it. Â However, if you are looking for a quiet spot with cheap drinks and a colorful cast of characters, then the Hose Trough Tavern is your place. Â I stopped in on a random Saturday afternoon for a drink and was thoroughly entertained. Â The drinks are extremely cheap despite the bartender having a heavy hand, and the regular patrons are very personable. The bartender was attentive, talkative and helpful. Â The complimentary kettle corn is delicious, and the fact that the bartender hands over the remote control to customers is awesome. Â Definitely worth dropping in if you find yourself in the bowels of Waltham.
Review Source:Two words: Â Hidden gem! Â It's hook for purses and cheap drinks is what put this bar over the edge for me. Â A local bar with interesting conversation and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are at a bar in your own home. Â If you are looking for a high class establishment, than this isn't the place for you. Â This is a down home Waltham watering hole with an everyday clientele makes you feel like you are walking into the cast of cheers!
Review Source:How the hell do some places get a liquor license? Â I think this guy came downstairs one morning, opened a beer and said, "I wish I had a bar in my living room." Â So he opened one.
Seriously, the Hose Trough is a bar in a renovated living room on the ground floor of some guy's house. Â I think it was just a place for the owner's buddies to hang out - we walked in and the two patrons and bar tender looked at us like we had horns growing out of our heads. Â They serve warm Budweiser. Â There are liquor bottles behind the bar, but the labels are so old and faded you can't quite tell what they are anymore. Â And I don't think the employees wash their hands before returning to work.
It was an experience, to say the least.
