Alright, I'm biased on this one. I frequented this place several times a week for a solid four years. As a fervent hockey player, there was nothing more welcoming than a pint and some wings after a hard evening of hitting the ice.
Only a few weaknesses here. First of all, there's no hard liquor, just beer and wine. Though this admittedly might be a good thing given the potential rowdiness of a post-hockey game crowd. Also, this is not the place to go if you're trying to pick up girls, because frankly, there are none.
Anyway, I do love the wings here, clearly the best this bar has to offer. Both the spicy and the honey barbecue are equally excellent, and they're rather cheap. $13 gives you a big plate of 24 wings by my last check. Clutch bar favorites here also include the nachos and the shoestring fries. And for the less calorie desperate, you can always get a sandwich or a salad.
I think it's fair to say it's more than just the hockey bar upstairs, it's a fun bar worthy of a standalone trip.
I don't go here to watch the game (on tv or on the ice) or hangout at the bar. I come here for the awesome food. A little gem in my opinion the Ice View has amazing food and it's in a great slightly secluded area. Located in the springdale district of Stamford. I had hot spicy wings (which nearly killed me) and some kind of cajun burger. Fantastic. Everything was perfect here. The service is good and if your lucky you can catch an intense hockey game going on (depending on which rink your seated near).
Review Source:The Ice View is located above and between the two ice surfaces of Stamford Twin Rinks providing gallery style viewing of the on ice activities (hockey, skating etc).
The crowd is usually post game hockey players, thirsty for a pint or two after a hard workout. Â The U shaped bar, surrounded by TV's provides ample room to hang out and watch whatever the game of choice is - during the hockey season - its hockey!
The bar offers a good selection of food, the most popular of which is the Chicken Wings. Â The wings here are excellent - cooked dry, crispy skin and loaded with your preferred sauce ... of course the hot wings are preferred by the hardened mens leaguers.
