If I were to live in Ballard close to the Jolly Roger Taproom I would be dead of heart disease. I mean come on...those onion rings (Washington has some great onions)...and also that low density lipid busting Beer Battered Bacon...tis a freak of nature...but dam good.

Pirate themes are really not my thing but the amazing selection of ales and beers..plus a wonderful menu....winner winner beer battered bacon dinner.

I also really love Ballard...as there are some amazing shops to wander around to.

Paseo...best friggin pork sando...on that mind numbingly good bread

    Dambrosio gelato

And the amazing Portalis wine shop and bistro. I always find good northwestern wines here!

    I'm torn...

Cuz, when it comes down to it, I love Maritime Pacific's brews. They are GOOD. I like them. I order them all the time when I see them on a tap list elsewhere.

But this place? Yes -- all the M-P beers on tap to make you happy. Hooray! But the half assed pirate theme? A large but  totally empty feeling space? Service that is tolerable but always seems like the staff wants to be somewhere else? Meeeeeeeeeeeh.

I'm going to have to average this out with a 3.

The beer wins. (Except their cask conditioned ales which are not chilled, so you get served a pricier room temperature beer. Bleh. )
The locale is great (right off my bike path).
    The service could be friendlier.
The pirate theme needs to either go all the way or go home.

    Small
Seat your self. (I think the bar is where you get the best service)

    Burgers and sandwiches are good.

    A HAIKU REVIEW

    Great happy hour
Great beer and...wait, what is this?

My friends live near the Jolly Roger and were hoping to make it a regular casual drinking spot.  The place was basically empty and yet we stood around the bar (though they offer table service) with money and IDs ready in our hand only to be served by unfriendly and agitated bar staff.  They kicked us out half an hour before closing on a Friday night.  As we were making plans for the next move in the parking lot, our waiter came out to lock the door and inform us that he "added a little gratuity" on our tab.  Why tell us after we signed the bill?  Food and beer aren't anything special.  Wish we picked a better atmosphere for catching up.

I must say, I rarely write negative reviews. In this case, it wasn't the service (really quite good).  The food was what I would call mediocre pub-grub (rings were good, fries were terrible). The real problem was the beer.  At this point I am about half way through my quest to try a sampler at every brewery in greater Seattle, and this place has the worst beer in town. If you are the owner, I'd say get a new brewmaster. If you are a server there, I hope this review doesn't hurt your income too much. If you are a beer enthusiast, you should definitely go elsewhere.
This is the one place that I had a hard time selecting which beer to order a pint of after the sampler because none of them were good enough to drink more of.
If you go to breweries for good beer, spend your dollars elsewhere.

One of the best kept secrets in Ballard, so DON'T GO RUNNING YOUR YAP ABOUT THIS ONE TOO MUCH.

Best onion rings I've ever had, and the sliders aren't anything to complain about, either.

Actually, the beer is phenomenal, too.

Seriously, don't tell your horrible friends about this place. I mean it.

Yes beer is great, the food is great too, but the service is TERRIBLE. They are slow, lazy, and seem aggitated to have to serve on you. And if you sit at the bar, they seem to ignore you even more. I recommend coming in with some growlers, and getting the hell out of there.

Yes, I did visit Jolly Roger Taproom and didn't order a beer. Cue eyebrow-lifting.

After a long afternoon of moving we dropped off our U-HAUL and walked across the street for some grub. Oh grub, if only you were good. Alas, you were not. I ordered the beef sliders with a side of fries. Sliders were soggy, buns were WAY sweet, tasted like pastry dough.

Fries were short, thin, tasteless, and very crispy, I had to use a fork and dip them in my ketchup. I also ordered a side of pickled fries which were surprisingly tasty. They came with a side of the house mustard. I enjoyed this dish.

Sadly, I probably won't be returning but the food was filling enough that it satisfied my hunger after a bunch of heavy lifting.

My boyfriend and I walked down here based on the incredible reviews and the proximity to our location.

We were shocked at how this place could have earned such a high average!

First off, we were rudely greeted by our waiter who told us we would have to move inside to have the beer flight. After we tried getting his attention for 15 minutes on the porch. We wanted to try the brews, so moved inside. He didn't come back for quite a long time. When he did, he was short and rude again. He finally took our order for the beer flight.

The beer taster came. It was undrinkable. We never send back beer, but this entire taster needed to go back. Maybe one was passable...maybe.

We also ordered the mussels (with chorizo, I believe). The mussels were terribly fishy. They stunk so bad, I almost couldn't put them in my mouth. I should have trusted my nose because they were also inedible. We sent this back as well.

The only reason this place earns any stars at all was because of the second waitress who helped us with the mussels. She apologized profusely and even admitted that some of their mussel orders have been touch and go lately. She said she would inform the cook of the fishy batch he had in stock that day.

She took the mussels off of the tab so we tipped here and moved on to the fast food joint across the street for some better food...

We won't go back. There are so many great places with better beer and food in walking distance, we won't risk it to try here again.

Beer battered bacon?! Yes please. We saw it on the menu and had to order it. Very good, but the highlight of the meal were the sandwiches. Big, juicy and delicious. I had the rueben and my fiance had the Dave's Deluxe.....he says quite possibly the best sandwich he's ever had.

Beer was good, Seahawks on the tv and quick service. Overall a great lunch spot on a Sunday afternoon.

Jolly Roger Taproom is the brewpub segment of Maritime Pacific Brewing. Arrived here after a very very long day, biking all the way from downtown Seattle to the Air Museum to Fremont. 3 tourist attractions, 2 brewpubs, and 1 phenomenal mexican restaurant later I ended up here. Ordered the beer sampler and it was quite difficult in choosing which ones I wanted. A local let me try his beer and I immediately liked it - Flagship Red Alt Ale on Cask. Took that as one of my samplers and filled the rest up with a mix of styles. There were 5 samplers in total and liked all of them. The beer here reminded me of really good English beers. If I wasnt tired and didnt have to bike back in a light drizzle I would have stayed longer and had pints. Total bill with tax/tip was 10$ for a sampler tray. Would like to come back here and have a meal some time.

Okay, i just inhaled, and I mean inhaled their "Tree hugger" sandwhich.  Other than the bread being BURNT, it was so delicous I don't think I set it down until it was gone.

So you ask... why only 3 stars?  I'll tell you why.  I was over charged. (and the bread was burnt, I blame Chef Ramsey.)
I called them out on it, and they didn't seem to care.  $9.50 for sanwhich, $1 for fries, equal 10.50 plus 10% tax should equal, $11.55.  I was charged $13.05.  When I showed him my math, he said, Oh there is a 75 cent charge for takeout.  Alright. Fine... but even if you add that to the 10.50 which brings us to 11.25 then add tax, we are still only at 12.38.  Which means they charged me at least 75 cents per item...  Dicks.

    p.s.
My fries were almost burnt too.

I'm absolutely shocked that this place averaged four stars. I ordered a beer sampler and it didn't take long for me to decide against having a meal here. Their beer was so bad that I didn't even want to try to wash their food down with it.

No, I didn't try the food. But there's no way I'm going to eat in a brewpub where the beer is so darn mediocre. Each beer tasted a bit watered down. To be fair, the taste wasn't too bad, but very weak. If you're used to Gordon Biersch, Redhook, or Rock Bottom, this may be the place for you. As for me, there are too many superior good brewpubs and alehouses nearby...no need to subject myself to crappy beer. .

And the service was awful. The server was completely useless in helping me identify the rotating tap selection.. Their printed tap list wasn't updated, and there was no chalk board around. I had to ask the server twice for their complete selection; the second time I had to go up to the bar to ask the guy.

On the bright side, if you like weak beers and can get service, the venue itself is nice. The piratey theme is also watered down. I'm not against the theme, but they really should go all the way rather than put in a weak effort in decorating  The floor is painted like a treasure map, which I thought was great. The outside seating offers an industrial view and it's rather bleak, but it's a wide open view of the sky.

At any rate, piss off, Jolly Roger. Because of your bad beer and bad service, there's no way I'm going back. Anytime Maritime Pacific comes up in a beer conversation, I'm trash talking your place.

What a gem! A co-worker brought me here today - I would have never known it existed eventhough I've been in the area a million times! Very inexpensive tasty food. From classics like sliders, fun things like fried bacon and oyster po' boys, to surprises like Pho - the menu is huge and everything we had was delicious.
    They have a deck too!
I'm looking forward to coming back. What a great spot for a casual bite and a drink!

I used to love the old Jolly Roger tucked next to the Ballard Bridge.  It had such a great Pirate Bar vibe, that I do miss in the new location.  Still, I do enjoy that there is more seating in this location, as well as an outdoor area.

Went here for a quick brewery stop during a little Seattle tour we were giving my Boyfriend's mom.  We split the sampler, although I've tried most the beers before. I have to say, Maritime makes some tasty brews! I love the Flagship Red, but there is just something about their Pilsner which makes my tongue happy.

We didn't eat here on this occasion, but l do remember the fish sliders being tasty.  Definitely will be back soon.

Came here after yoga class and to further seek relaxation in a...beer.

The bf had come here weeks prior upon his arrival to Seattle.  He wanted to bring me here because he figured that I may like what they had to offer on tap.

And did I!  The bf ordered some steak dinner and I ordered myself the Nightwatch Dark Amber Ale (5.5% alc/vol Dark amber in color, Nightwatch is smooth and mellow with a subtle roast flavor and gentle hopping from Mt. Hood and Saaz hops. A true Northwestern original-style ale).  I also order these ginormous onion rings that were the paired appetizer for this beer.

The bf was right about me liking the beer here as I had chosen a very yummy one.

The place is decorated with a Pirates of the Carribean feel sans Johnny Depp and the Disney animatronics.  We were here on a late Friday afternoon around quittin' time and the place was packed, very lively.

We will definitely be back again so that I may tap the tap one by one and to try the Ballard Poutine which I was eyeballing.

Jolly Roger Taproom's new location is just up the street from it's previous little pirate hideout.  The new venue is large, but you have to maneuver around the tables to get to the restroom.  Best place to sit is at the bar.  You can catch the game on TV and enjoy one of their outstanding Maritime brewery beers.  Food is really yummy (my favorite is the smoked jalapeno Caesar salad or the clams/mussels).  The little jolly burgers are great and come with your choice of sauce.  Fries are hand-cut and freshly made (so addicting).  Happy hour small plates are perfectly-sized to pair with your favorite beer.

Parking lot is small, so be aware of the signs for street parking (some are no-parking zones for 2-3 hours of the day only).

I like the location and the layout of this place. It's warm and casual and easy.
I love the food. I have dreams about the oyster po boys and this smoky delicious sauce that comes with their onion rings!
Mostly, I love that I can sit in a comfy spot, eat tasty food and drink some of my favorite beer a hop away from where it was made.
My only real complaint is  that service varies wildly from lackluster to superb.

After a less than glowing review of the then-brand new Jolly Roger, I suppose it's time to recognize that they have settled into the new facility and adapted their persona accordingly.

Since my initial visit, I've been back several times for lunch or happy hour and while it still feels a bit sterile, there is a coziness that makes you want to belly up for a while over pints and sliders.

Maritime's beers are still some of my favorite local brews, and the menu has a little something for everyone (beer battered bacon anyone?).  But the service is a little hit and miss.  How busy it is doesn't seem to change this - I've had speedy, attentive service during a packed lunch hour, and I've gone 15 minutes with an empty glass when I was one of maybe four or five occupied tables.

While the total package has generally improved over my first few visits to the new facility, it's still pulling up a bit short of the good ol' Jolly Roger.

    Beer cures all.

    (but we all know that).

Yeah, so it was a Ballard night during a soggy winter holiday night, and we were thinking of places to go to.  The Jolly Roger had been on my Bookmarks List, so I figured we should check it out.  I just had to mention they are part of a brewery (Maritime Brewing Co.) and my mates were all game.

We walked into the pub and were all over the map...yeah, there's a nautical map on the floor.  We grabbed a table and then went to work with composing provisions for the evening.  I, of course, went with a beer sampler.  I found all their brews to be different and tasty (I'm easy like that though).

For dinner we sorta all went with apps.  There are several options of sliders to choose from, and we went with a few.  There were a few minutes of being on edge because they didn't have buns.  But rest assured, the buns arrived at the perfect time.  I like big buns, and I cannot lie.

We also went a few other plates (I remember the onion rings).

All in all, this was a nice pub with a cool crowd, and decent beer.

    LOVE!
Went to Jolly Roger 2.0 the other night with Matt and we loved it!
It was packed and we ordered a pint, watched some of the M's game and then rather quickly got seated.

Our table was a 4 top, so the super friendly guy working asked if we minded adding a couple more people to our table. Of course we didn't mind! The group at our table was nice and we chatted every so often, but didn't feel uncomfortable they were there.

Onion rings were bombtastic, Matt loved his sliders, and I loved the spreaders. LOVE good breads and dips! We also split a pitcher of beer which was delightful, and light. Although I did get a little buzzed. :)

At the end it did take a bit to get our check, but service throughout the night was great.

    We will be back.

Back when I was in second grade I had a friend named Mike. His mother didn't care for me much. Wait, no ... she cursed my existence. She sort of reminded me of the mother in The People Under the Stairs. And I'll tell ya, if she could have imprisoned me in her basement and forced me to subsist on dessicated cadavers she would have. Any time he got in trouble, she blamed me as the bad influence. Eventually she put him in another school to keep him away from me.

I can relate to Mike's mother though. With the Jolly Roger Taproom finally open again it's like the return of the friend who whispers really bad ideas into my ear has burst back into my life. It would make things so much easier if I had a someone else to blame for all the things I consume there!

"Go ahead," the evil influence whispers into my ear, "eat that plate piled with onion rings, you love onion rings." And I do. These are definitely the best onion rings I've ever had. They actually smoke the onions, which gives them a taste you won't find anywhere else. Not only that, they pile them high on your plate. Looking down at the stack of onion rings must be similar to looking down at the pile of money from atop Uncle Scrooge's Money Bin. Though the space is new, the sliders are just as great as ever. The rest of the menu has actually been expanded and they now offer half orders of onion rings (I've never finished a full order by myself so this is definitely good) and deep fried bacon!

With their new locale, the Jolly Roger Taproom's voice might be even more enticing.  They can now seat almost 4 times the number of folks than they could in the old place. The decor is still heavy on dark colored wood, but that gives the place a relaxed inviting feel. It makes it easy to sit and eat slider after delicious slider while quaffing Maritime's wide variety of delicious concoctions. The new facility has not had an adverse effect on their beer. The Dry Hopped Islander Pale tasted as amazing as ever as did the Dry Hopped Old Seattle Lager. This is probably the most drinkable beer in the Northwest!

In the past, service was an issue at times. My most recent visit treated me to excellent service. If that continues they definitely move up to 5 stars.

Now that seating is no longer an issue I'm sure I'll visit often. Unless my mother is in town. I'd hate for her to decide that this place is a bad influence on me!

I really wanted to love the Jolly Roger Taproom - I did.  Their old location is swell, and their beers are pretty divine.  However, my first evening at their new spot will likely be my last.

Let me first say that the place was packed and our server was friendly, and upbeat - but it still doesn't excuse the really awful attitude and slooow service.  My friend and I were seated at a large table, another couple had already been seated at the other end - and I'm fine with sharing; the stammtisch at the People's Pub is one of my favorite tables - but it's important to note the timeline.  At the time we were seated, the couple had already ordered their meals.

My friend and I looked at the beer menu, we looked at the food menu, we looked at each other.  5 minutes went by, then 10, then 15.  I was about ready to grab my coat and leave, but our server finally came over to take our order.  I asked for a pilsner and some help with the menu as there did not seem to be a single meatless entree.

"Oh, the chef does not like vegetarian food" was what our server said.  "Sometimes there is a meatless sandwich, but our chef is cranky and does things his way. He's not open to other people's thoughts."  I get that, I do.  I'm cranky, too.  But this is a tap room in Ballard, not some trendy Williamsburg cult-of-personality haute dining experience.  Get off your high horse and make me a grilled cheese sandwich.

So I ordered the Breads and Spreads and my friend ordered the Planks, aka french fries.  And we had our beers.  We sipped slowly and talked amopngst ourselves and we were pretty much done with our pints when our food came out.  The server tried to give it to the couple at the other end of the table, and they almost took it because their dinners still hadn't arrived.

The Breads and Spreads was more like "a big plate of dry breads and small pots of things to perch atop said bread with the hopes that it doesn't fall off before it reaches your mouth."  Spreadability was not even a factor here.  AND even though the menu warned me not to, I had to make substitutions because one of the "spreads" was all bacon-laden.  My friend got the french fries, what they call "Planks," which were really more like shivering timbers. Small, thinner than my pinky finger, mostly broken, and not very tasty.  Not hearty at all, mateys.

When we were finishing our plates, our tablemates' dinner arrived.  They'd just gotten some slider-looking burger things, so I'm not entirely sure what the hold up was.  But they'd mentioned a number of times how hungry they were and how long they'd been waiting.  I would have offered them some of my food, but since I was making an entire meal of 2nd rate appetizers, I was feeling a bit selfish.

The room had cleared out considerably when we were done eating, but still, it took another 15 minutes from the time our bill was set down until our payment was picked up.  As we left, our server mentioned that she'd talk to the chef about adding a veggie entree or something, which I certainly appreciated, but the way she spoke of him earlier gave me the impression that he's a terrible kitchen ogre and that any veggie item would be served up grudgingly, perhaps with a hint of indignant bacon grease hidden in it somewhere.  Perhaps I'm projecting...

The Jolly Roger is nice taproom on the side of the Maritime Brewery in Ballard.

We stopped here for one of my buddy's birthday celebration last weekend and sat outside with our group. We got there a little late so the server had already taken the order for the table, but the server gladly accommodated us. I had two different beers, both of which were solid NW representatives. Their food is definitely above average for a taproom, which I really enjoy.

I had the beef sliders and my gf had the mahi mahi sliders, both of which were 5 star quality, with your own selection of sauce.

I will be back to sample more beers and more of their food.

    Well Done.

FYI - The KC Metro #17, 18, 15, and 28 all stop right around the area.. so go!

Much to my vegetatian girlfriend's chagrin I cannot go to this place enough.

First off I must begin by saying how reasonably priced the beer is.  Many bars in the seattle area sell Maritime's beers for much more than the Jolly Roger and certainly no fresher.  The beer selection is ample with multiple varieties in casks and on nitro.  If you pride yourself as a true beer drinker you can do no better.

The food is some of the best I have had at a brew-pub.  I usually go for the burger sliders with onions and cheese with a side fries ($5.00).  You will not be let down with this combination. The mussles and clams are really good too..  If you are a vegetarian, you will be limited to salad, onion rings and french fries, this is one thing they can improve on.

I have never had service problems, but the place can get very busy at times.  If a busy pub flusters you then you were probably not going to like this place to begin with.

All in all a great place to grab a beer and a bite to eat.

I have no idea how you can not give the Jolly Roger Taproom 5 stars.  Perhaps you were abused as a child.  Or didn't get the pony your daddy always promised you.  Maybe you were cut from the baseball team.  Could you have been dropped on your head?

All these are very real possibilities.

Place is packed.  And, prepare to be shocked, places with great beer, fast service, and great food often are on the weekends.

Shocked?  I know.  Took me by surprise when I learned that too.

What was great was sitting up at the bar chatting with the locals.  Hans and Nick gave us the low down on the mountain report and discussed great things like surfing in Santa Cruz and the merits of cruising mountains instead of bombing runs.

A growler of the epic Nightwatch Ale is in my cooler as we speak.  It will have a place of honour at my NYE party.  Hopefully others get to try some as well.

Not the most happening place on a Friday night, and everything was a little bit antiquated for my taste, but I have to give them props for some fantastic gourmet bar food.

Seattle Food & Wine magazine listed their oyster po'boy as a top eat, but take my advice, skip the oyster and go for the mahi mahi sliders.  Super-affordable, and super-tasty, even when you microwave them the next morning.  Oh, and yes, the onion rings ARE phenomenal.

The Jolly Roger is one dangerous place!! Because like the great prophet Ice Cube says "You betta check yo self Fore you wreck yo self"!! If you're seriously looking to get $hit faced then this place is for you!! Their Maritime Imperial IPA(Double Hop) has a 7.5% alcohol content!! Holy $mokes!!!! And luckily for us that night they were out of their seasonal beer(Jolly Roger) which has a 9.0% alcohol content..whoo mama!!! Because that would have been one scary night if the Jolly Roger was still on tap!!

Toss in some Lil' Mahi sliders and top it with some of their home made salsa and you're freaking set!!! And if it's sunny out then their poop deck..uh I mean their deck is proper place to drink it up!!

So if you're feeling "self destructive" then Jolly Roger gots you covered!!!

The Jolly is usually filled with local pirates of a somewhat 'cold' demeanor, to which I usually give a wide berth; frankly I don't feel like being pillaged for my booty. On a recent visit, I came with back up and attended with my gang of rather brutish pirates, known as the Ballz. We're mean, crude, drinking degenerates of the high seas, running amok in high fashion, devilishly good looks and if anyone steps up for an old fashion musket or knife fight, our scallywag Tommy aka "Harry the Hatchet", beats them to a pulp with his dildo shaped weapon; trust me, it's not a pretty way to go.

We drank our weight in the Jolly's fine in-house crafted ales, and on suggestion from 1st mate Timmy aka "that's Irish to you, bitch", we partook in their delicious sea caught treats and eats

In all, it's a lovely place, rather small, but we enjoyed our time...until Captain Carlito left post haste after he kicked a puppy at a snarky wench, causing a huge brawl, of which we were the victors, leaving a bloody trail in our wake.

First off, they don't serve "Hard A" here.  On the drink menu, it's just wine and beer.  Don't come here looking for a mixed drink.  They won't have it, which does kind of stink.

For food you must try their onion rings.  They are massively large and damn tasty things.

As far as the beer, it's truly quite great.  Out of ten, it's a seven or eight.  Their delicious IPA is seriously strong.  Order a pint and you just can't go wrong.

There is no happy hour here, which is rather sad.  It's cool, though, the prices aren't bad.  Go as a group and try for a table.  Start drinking early and your odds are real stable.

Well, another review has come to an end.  And Jolly Roger has made a new friend.

    Good god.

Great beer and cool staff that do a good job of turning tables over quickly and keeping the waiting masses calm.

But I love love the mahi mahi sliders. Put some of their house-made hot sauce on it and I'm in heaven. The salads are huge, their pile of onion rings are legendary, the entrees are large and delicious, but I keep craving the mahi mahi sliders.

The formula isn't hard: great (food + beer + prices + service) = A+.  This little hole-in-the-wall has it all, from sliders to seasonal steaks, and they do it all wonderfully.  The last time I was there was winter and they had a steak with gorgonzola and rosemary - delicious!  This time, they offered a steak with three large prawns, cilantro, garlic, and some other fabulous accompaniment that I am failing to remember... but on to what I gorged on this time:

We partook in the Spreaders appetizer (rustic bread with an olive tapenade, brie and caramelized onions, and artichoke dip).  All three flavors were great.  I also had one each of the 'Lil Jolly Royals (sliders with cheese and onion) and the 'Lil Mahi Jolly (Mahi Mahi grilled on a toasted potato roll with cabbage); my boyfriend had the same.  Both were wonderful, and I didn't feel like I was being cheated on the size of the burgers.  The Habanero BBQ dipping sauce is phenomenal.  It starts sweet and then - ZING!!  The caliente bites you!  We followed everything up with an order of the onion rings - a must have - and were stuffed.

My bf had the sampler of five beers (for $7 something).  I had tastes of each, but went with a 20 oz. IPA and then a 20 oz. pilsner (I believe only $4 each).  He followed suit with a 20 oz. IPA as well.

All things said and done, we walked out of there for less than $50 total.  Our service was great (even though they were waiting on a BUS-load of people - literally).  If there is a wait for a table, it's worth it.  Your pocketbook and your stomach will thank you!!

    It's cute.

No one is running around with peg legs or parrots or anything, but they do have beer.

I asked about grog, but they didn't have any of that either.

I'll have to try it sometime when it's jammed.  It was just a lonely taproom when I was in there for a brew last summer.  The pirate theme doesn't run very deep which, depending on tastes, could be a good or a bad thing.

I love the Jolly!  I desperately want to give this place 5 stars, but due to the fact that it is almost impossible to get in here, at any hour, and find a seat for more than one person, I am forced to give it 4. *tear*

I believe this is the best brewery in Seattle (Maritime Brewing Company) and they have a few beers on Nitro. I'm a fan of darker beers.  Try the Jolly Roger (9%!) and it might put you on your face. The lighter beers are good too, as is the food. Steaks, Lamb, etc.. make up the dinner menu. For amazing bar fare- have the Jolly Rogers (3 mini burgers) and the Smokin' Planks (huge delectable onion rings)! They come with various dipping sauces/ spreads- garlic aioli, habanero ketchup, dill mayo. It's making me hungry just typing about it. Get there late or have lunch. 7- 9pm- it's packed. Great, friendly wait staff too. Highly Reccomended.

I give this place 3 lil' jollies- the highest recognition in all of "Jollydom"

    WOW.

This is a destination place for me.  The lil-jolly royals are little slider-like delicious explosions of cheeseburger happiness -- and you get to pick your own dipping sauce!  (mmm bbq, but mmm mustard too!)

Maritime beers -- brewry is next door to this place -- are some of the best in Seattle.  Try to Jolly Roger seasonal xmas beer and take a cab home -- this stuff is SO delicious it makes my head spin!  And the Imperial Pale is just damm good.  Nuff said.

I complained about this in a review of a different bar, and I admit that it's my own crazy sensitivity (maybe I'm allergic), but a strong bleach-y smell sometimes permeates this bar -- and while I would ALWAYS prefer a clean, sanitary eating establishment, it honestly gives me a headache.  Who cares, though, because after a pint and burger, I'm feelin no pain.

This place gets very busy, and sometimes the employees are obviously scattered and crazed and the service can be slow, but for some reason I'll always forgive them...  they're ALWAYS nice and efficient here, and that means a lot.
