After so many years of having the chance to go to Mad Frog, I finally made it to Salsa Night at Mad Frog. The bar is probably one step up from divey, which is fine with me. There's two floors and the first floor has a separate bar area and then a back room with dance floor, second bar, and a great stage for live music. I thought the Salsa night was great- free lessons at 9, which wasn't a huge crowd but by the time the live salsa band played, there were just enough people to not feel awkwardly empty but still not feel crowded. It was a good time and not as college-y as I thought it might be. Lots of polite dance partners that will take you to the dance floor for a song. Drink specials were at a great price, though some of the other mixed drinks were maybe a dollar more than necessary, but still reasonable. Would definitely come back for Salsa night again!

My favorite salsa spot in Cincy! Great drink specials and a unique crowd!

I came here with a couple girlfriends one night for Monday night salsa. Man, what an experience. From 9-10 pm there are salsa lessons with the charismatic instructor, and from 10 pm on you put your newly learned dancing skills to the test. It was interesting seeing the crowd change. During the lessons portion there were lots of young, nervous looking guys that seemed eager to meet and impress the ladies. The awkwardness of the whole thing cracked me up and made the experience more enjoyable than uncomfortable. But from 10 pm on, all of a sudden a circle of sleazy looking men lined the perimeter of the room, looking for dance partners or just....looking. If you're a female, be ready for a ton of guys to approach you asking to dance, since the guy:girl ratio is a bit skewed. If you are turned off by creepers, bring your own man! But if you're semi-courageous, looking for an interesting night and a chance to learn some basic salsa moves then I would give this place a try.

Had a blast at a small venue show here featuring Ian Mellencamp! The bar was fast and had good prices on pitchers, and was an overall good time.

The Mad Frog is a cool little hangout. It has a full bar and two levels. On weekend nights they usually have two different bands or djs on each floor. It's cool because if you get sick of one band/dj you can go to the other. It's like you're paying the cover charge for two performances. A lot of older people but a lot of UC college students as well. They usually have a couple 18+ nights a week but DO NOT drink when they put an "X" on your hand. This place is swarming with undercover cops- A VERY BAD idea. If you want to drink pre-game somewhere else then come here. There's no smoking but there's a large outdoor patio area. Overall a good place to meet people and dance. However, it's only really jamming on certain nights- you have to find out what nights those are.

The Mad Frog used to bring in a lot of good music. In fact, for most of their heyday I was in college. In recent years it seems like they have been bringing in less and less national bands and sticking more to supporting locals. That's okay because they do a pretty good job of it.

My band played there recently and had a great time. The sound guy did a great job. Everything sounded great when we played, and when the other acts played. It was a little loud, though.

It's easy to get lost in The Mad Frog because there are so many different rooms. There is a downstairs area that usually has a DJ spinning and there is a separate pool room in the back.

So the music in general is a little lacking now, but I guess they have Kino now...so that's something!

The Mad Frog is the place to go for the local music scene in Cincinnati. I've seen SO many good shows here to count!

First off there are the regulars. Several nights of the week are devoted to a band who plays weekly. Tropicoso is by far the best salsa band I have ever seen, not that I've seen many. The salsa night on Mondays with them playing is the most fun I've had in a while. Then on Thursday nights they have reggae night with Super Massive. I haven't seen them but I've heard that they're great.

Often there are ladies free before 10pm things going on. I like those nights! You can check their website to find out exactly when these things are going on because they change. They also have a really nice pool table in it's own special room which I like because you won't be bothered by the dancers or the drinkers!

what is good about Mad Frog is that there is usually pretty good live music.  It is spacious, and has a great view of CVS drugstore from the front door.  I thought this place was a little expensive for what it was.

    Love this place.

Monday night Salsa is flipping awesome.

Heard of a lot of break ins on cars.  But hey it is Clifton, what did you expect?
