Pretty cool new restaurant. Â Comes off as quite trendy and at first glance even perhaps a touch pretentious, but that was not the case at all. Â It's actually quite inviting once you're in there. Â
The food was great. Â As others have said, portions are small and I would definitely consider this more of a tapas style restaurant due to serving sizes. Â We had the Soba noodles (excellent salty/seafood-esque flavor, will definitely order again), the pork belly & spider sliders (also excellent, a bit pricey for the amount but tasted great) and the signature ramen dish (pretty good, nothing too special). Â The beer list here is pretty good too; have a couple hard to find beers that happen to be some of my favorites.
The food and service was good enough that I would have given 5 stars except for two things: First, the banana/phyllo dough appetizer we had was flat out gross - unripe bananas were used along with some kind of seeds (caraway I think) that just tasted nasty in there. Â Second, they had a Japanese white ale on tap that I tried a taste of and it was good so I ordered one. Â It came in a very small glass (I'm guessing 8 oz.) and was $9. Â That means this beer is $18 for a pint. Â That's insane. Â That's expensive enough that I think it should have either been marked somewhere or the waiter should have told me in advance. Â
Overall, food was awesome, service was good, prices were a bit on the high side but reasonable for the area. Â We'll be back for sure.
A very cool spot with a well done build out.
Lots of bar, and food that goes with it.
We had the pork belly sliders and the spider sliders and they were great. Â The belly was prepared well and the soft shell crab was fried right.
We were not fans of the Vietnamese style rice paper rolls.
Okonomiyaki was another hit. Â This was like a potato pancake with bacon and an egg on top.
Desserts were no thrill.
In the end we would come back, but I think this is more bar food than full on restaurant. Â Wishful thinking, but I would love to come in for sliders and a mizuna salad with yuzu dresssing.
