Jerusalem Cafe

After two years of attending UC and eating at almost every establishment in the Clifton area, I finally tried Jerusalem Cafe upon the suggestion of a friend. Quality Mediterranean food is lacking in Cincinnati and I was hesitant to try Jerusalem. Upon entering, we noticed the space is fairly large and the decor simple. An individual, seemingly the owner, was at one of the tables eating his dinner. We asked him what he was eating, to which he replied that it was the special of the day, Molokheyah, and he was gracious enough to bring us samples of the rice and chicken entree. The taste was delicious so my friend and I both ended up ordering it.

The dish consisted of a quarter chicken, infused with spices and moist to perfection. It came with a large side of basmati rice with amazing flavor (possibly chicken broth) and a traditional sauce made of olive oil and herbs. The entree felt fresh, homemade and even healthy. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. Glad to have discovered another local option for food besides the slew of Indian and sandwich shops.
