Terrific meal. Read multiple reviews of Martini's and had modest expectations. Din for 6 on a recent Sat night- so prime time. Table was ready for our resy, cocktails were strong and good. Salads were unique, healthy and huge. Solid value there. Entrees were excellent. NY Strip was well seasoned and grilled as requested. 2 included sides was a pleasant and fab surprise. Dessert was fine. Nelson, our waiter was on the ball. Will be back soon!
Review Source:My first experience here was on my bday last month. I went with my family, nieces including. Needless to say, I had a very enjoyable dining experience.
Your first sighting is a bar, very modern design, that looks like it houses any and all type of alcohol. Going thru the menu, this point was proven. Ordered JWblues for me and the big guy- lets get the night started.
The menu is a little tricky. Sushi to pasta dishes to steak. There may be a little bit of an identity problem. I decided to run the gamut, sushi for an app, steak for dinner. Both came out extremely well made.
I definitely would like to go back to this place for a date night with the girlfriend. So look out for an updated view. LBD scale is pushing 7 on this bad boy.
We visited on a weekday night and made reservations ahead of time. Â I wasn't sure if I needed them or not, but when we arrived, it was clear that we didn't need the reservations. Â The bar area was crowded but there were only a few people in the dining area. Â After sitting at the bar for a martini, we decided to sit down and order. Â The sushi menu looked delicious and we ordered 2 of their specialty rolls. Â The rolls came right away and were delicious. Â We also ordered our entrees and the waitress did a very nice job of explaining each dish and the sides. Â As soon as we were finished with our sushi rolls, the entrees arrived. Â Perfect timing. Â Both entrees were delicious (salmon and t-bone steak) and cooked perfectly.
Review Source:SUSHI!!
Came here to catch up with an old friend on a Friday night. Â Honestly going into it, I was prepared to have a 3 star meal & experience and write my review as such based on visits in just the past couple years when this place was not living up to the glory of what it once was upon opening 12 years ago. Â But dare I say it may be making a return? Â
Made our resy through OpenTable, arrived just a few minutes late to find the place packed! Â Granted it was a Friday night, but not just the bar area was bustling, but both the main dining area and the more intimate dining area in the rear, too. Â My friend was in the mood for Sushi and I had recently read that Martini Bistro added a sushi bar with a very experienced chef that has worked at Nobu & Megu previously. Â So we figured - what the heck - let's give 'em a try. Â
Ordered a couple apps off the regular menu to get started - the quesadilla & the calamari, both of which were great, but went unfinished once all the yummy sushi arrived! Â
Went a bit overboard in our effort to sample lots so we shared:
-Spicy Tuna Roll
-Yellowtail Roll
-Boston Roll
-King of the Sea Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy crab & avocado amazingness)
The tuna and yellowtail cut rolls were actually a bit on the smaller side compared to the Boston roll and the King of the Sea which was listed under the "special rolls" list, but for the reasonable price and freshness of the fish, we were really happy with the food overall!
Their martinis were up to par as usual so I started with a "Fizzy Dude" since I love  when martinis are topped off with prosecco.  For my 2nd drink however, I just did straight up prosecco cause it was a bit more sweet than it was tart.
I'm glad that Martini Bistro & bar has stepped their game up a bit to breathe new life into this place.  I look forward to coming again soon when I'm back in the old  neighborhood.
Martinis with clear ingredients should be stirred, not shaken. At Martini Bistro & Bar they shake everything. They also don't use a strainer, so you get little chips of ice throughout your drink.
The service was subpar. A host took our names down for a 20 minute wait, but did not find us at the bar as he said once the table became available.
I think I'll try the Moonshine Supper Club and hope there they know what they're doing.
Have drank here several times and decided to give the restaurant a try tonight. Staff was friendly, but didn't account for crap service. Food was good, but definitely won't be running back here anytime soon. Â Okay, service cons, asked for well done sliders, but got medium rare. Â Husband ate one and I tried to eat around the red to no avail. Â When told backup server the problem, she asked if I wanted my partially eaten one reheated or new ones. Seriously? Â We got new well done replacements. Later the entrees arrive and husband asks for some sauce as shrimp was dry, he never received, so ate as was.
Review Source:The owner's and wait staff are very friendly and helpful.
The location is easy to get to in downtown Milburn with lots of parking nearby.
But most importantly, the food is fresh, tasty and nice sized servings, for a good price.
Love this place and always go at least once when I am visiting in the area.
I came here with a co-worker to get a drink and a quick bite to eat before catching free movie at the Millburn cinema. It was either here or Charlie Brown's. Â
I got a personal pizza with chicken and bbq sauce. And my co-worker got a salad. This place is a bit too old for my liking. It's like cougar central for Millburn.
I will check our nearby places before coming back here.
So I need to try this place again. Â We went after seeing a Sunday show over at Paper Mill and we had missed be brunch. Â I had a Chef Salad that was fine. Â My partner had a chicken breast with stir fry which he said was just ok. Â We both had to try the martini's. Â I had a sakitini and it was just ok----tasted more like a wet vodka martini with cucumbers. Â I do not recall what he had, but same comment - just ok. Â
I Â think that this would be a fun place for a dinner and cocktails.
I became a regular mainly from great mid week dinner service. Food is good, fresh, with a good drink menu of cocktails and some wine. It has everything from sandwiches, to pasta, to seafood, salads, etc. It's a good meet up spot after work during the week which is what I usually use it for with my friends that live/work near that area. Â The general crowd on a weekend night is in their 40s. I wish they had some music on weekend nights.
I am a fan, I go when in the area, the manager who I walking around is nice and helpful (I think he's the manager lol! If not, he should be).
The food has always been so yummy. Â We came here on our wedding anniversary, and also for a dinner with our parents, and the environment was perfect both nights. Â I like their food choices too because there are items that are healthy, as well as food my husband likes that might not be as healthy. Â Service has always been good for me as well.
Review Source:I don't really love martini's. Â I guess I was more or less looking for a classier yet younger crowd. Â And I got ehhhh. Â I mean I had an apple tini because after all it is a Martini bar but I had it before, nothing special. Â I was impressed with the wine list although I did not have a glass.
I had a piece off a bar pie, again nothing impressive. Â I heard a lot of people tell me they like this place so I was bummed when I got there. Â The crowd was full of typical bar flies. Â A lot of single older women hitting on a bunch on 30 somethings and the bunch of 30 somethings hitting on a bunch of 21 newbies!
I am happily wifed so I don't care either way. Â But my single friends both men and women often look to me to tell them where to go to mingle. Â I know a lot of people from all over the place and am constantly touching base. Â I am glad I sampled the ambiance here before throwing bows at how great it was!! Â
It is located in a pretty area though. Â You can safely stroll around a check out some of the fly homes if the bar is a disappointment and you got a little martini buzz...
Great selection of martinis. Very nice dirty martini. Burgers are incredible, but don't order the Caesar salad. The dressing was bitter and tasteless. The prices are a little steep, but it is in the heart of Millburn. It is New York chic with New Jersey elbow room. A great place for a local night out.
Review Source:I went to dinner at the Martini Bistro Saturday night with a friend. I was a bit nervous that without reservations there would be a wait, but at 8:00pm we had no trouble being seated (actually, it was pretty empty). Â We ordered fun cocktails (my 'Horsepower' was served in a jam jar- cute touch) and looked over the menu. A few things- their apps and salads could use work. Mussels, but in fra diavolo sauce? How does that make the menu instead of the classic white wine, garlic & herbs? For a lover of appetizers I was surprised to not find even one option that peaked my interest. The entrees helped to make up for this; Â there were several delicious sounding options (though I was sad to see the short ribs no longer an option). I had the roasted half chicken (substituted mash potatoes for the French fries) and my friend had steak. We both had a side of the grilled asparagus, which was lovely. Â My chicken was quite good, moist and flavorful, and my friend cleared her plate. We skipped dessert and opted instead for an espresso martini, which I was extremely happy to find was not the average super creamy sugary mistake, but instead a chilled martini that really focused on the clean espresso flavor.
The service was quite good. Our server perfectly walked that fine line of friendly and attentive without being annoying or too 'in your face'. Water refills came promptly and without having to be requested (such a bonus). The Manager stopped by our table, which I thought was a nice touch.
The prices are reasonable for what you get. $11 for a specialty martini doesn't seem crazy to me. You can also opt for a $7 glass of wine or $8 cocktail. The entrees are worth their price (my chicken was $23). I would suggest trying this place for dinner; though if you're an appetizer lover (like me) or looking to split a couple of  smaller plates with a friend over a drink, you may be disappointed.
i came here one night with my friend and fellow yelper Justine. Looks cute from the outside, we venture in and the first thing i notice is the sea of men clearly having a midlife crisis, a few barely clothed 20 somethings around them and then the cougars who are clearly out of their cages and ready to pounce and this is just at the bar! Hilarious!
clearly we were not getting a seat to eat and drink there so we were seated to the main dining room.
we peruse the drink menu which has every martini you can think of! so we asked our waiter for another minute.. we both settle on a Bellini martini which was SO yummy!
after chatting a bit we finally ordered the tuna tar tare and fried calamari to share, both were pretty good. But before we could even finish our apps the waiter proceeded to bring out the main entree on an already tiny packed table.. really?!? i find that so annoying! Â
anyway, for our entrees we both settled on a poached pear salad with goat cheese and nice vinaigrette dressing. After our waiter ignored us for hmmm maybe 30 minutes after some intense staring! we finally got a second drink and some of our plates cleared away! glad to see they are attentive! Awful service, especially for overpriced drinks and food, which is why i am giving it 2 Stars.
I would def. stop at the bar for a drink but that's about it.. food was okay (def had better!) and the inattentive waiters seemed to have ruined it for me.
Martini's is a decent sized placed in Millburn that is a bit over priced. But if you look at the area its in you kind of of expect it walking into the place.
There food is pretty good, and something's are worth it while other just are not. The Kobe Burgers are way over priced. I understand how much Kobe beef cost but one of these burgers makes a white castle look like  whopper. At the same time the pizzas are a steal for about 10
There drinks are pretty decent but I don't know if it's worth the price tag. Beer is a little higher than average. Overall you're paying for the atmosphere of the place. If you like it, then it worth it, but if you're not impressed then it won't be.
First the good....The atmosphere and vibe here is acceptable.. Karen S. review of the bar vibe is SPOT ON!  Excellent bar with pleasing bartenders.  Good selection of booze but expensive as stated in other posts. Service was very good. The wait staff was accommodating, water glasses always filled, food delivered on time.  I have been to Martini Bistro twice. My first experience, a friend and I had a nice Sunday bar lunch. We sat at the bar had a few drinks and ordered appetizers.  We were very pleased. The appetizers were delicious. We had a dozen blue point oysters with excellent presentation. Oysters were served with 3 condiments, lemon wedge, an interesting combination of  red peppercorn, shallot, chive in vinegar, and lastly, on a odder note, ketchup. Really ketchup? The lobster cocktail was also very pleasing and worth the price. The crispy calamari with smoked chipotle mayo was good. Lastly we ordered the mac-n-cheese. This dish was excellent; ham, peas, smoked mozzarella and Gruyère, served piping hot. Just the right comfort food for a cold day.  Overall lunch experience made me want to come back for dinner and test out the entrees.
Went back 2 months later for an early Saturday drinks and dinner with some friends. We ordered all the same appetizers, consistent and delicious as the previous experience. However the addition of entrees to the scorecard brought the overall experience down to mediocre. A travesty considering the price per entree we paid.
Now the not so good....The prime rib appeared to have been cut off the bone, cooked once and then fried on the grill. Nothing special, no presentation. Steak slapped on a plate basically. The Saint Louis Baby Back Ribs served with corn and sweet potato fries were just ok. Â The presentation was alarming, ribs crowded on a small plate and competing for space with the fries and 2 tablespoons of corn. The fries could have been more crispy and hotter, and the corn side dish was inconsequential. This dish screams for a rehab. It should be served with corn bread instead of corn and sweet potato wedges on a properly sized plate Lastly, the veal osso bucco with risotto, tomato confit and port wine sauce made me wish I had stuck with just the appetizers! Very disappointing. Â The veal shank appeared and tasted over cooked, as if rushed cooked in high heat, not a slow braise or kept resting in a warming box for hours. No flavor was imparted to the meat. The meat was hard, not fall off the bone like it is when I,without much effort, slow braise my own. The risotto was hard, dry and flavorless. Risotto should be creamy and flavorful not a dry clump like overcooked rice. Humorously the tiny tomato confit was the most flavorful part of this dish.
There you have it, Â 3 stars if we left it a appetizers, and 2 stars with entrees.
The travesty is that when one spends money on a dining experience and pays top dollar, the experience should be something above and beyond diner food and certainly better than one makes at home. I am easy to please, simple food made with care, delicious and pleasing is my baseline. In my opinion this bistro has presented a menu which they have trouble delivering on. As we were walking out we noticed the burgers looked pretty good.
I ate here at lunch, so I can't be a fair judge of their food. The chicken sandwich I got was tasty enough, but I could've gotten it at Panera or somewhere like that for a few dollars less.
Yes, the service was top notch and made the experience fun. The waiter was great at joking with me and my coworkers and attending closely to our needs.
The $12 martini that the owner one a GQ award for was good, but not worth the SS.
I don't understand why, after several visits, I still tend to gravitate to this place when I am in the area. Maybe it's because there is not much around or maybe it's to people watch the wanna be rich older women. Needless to say this place is not very good and it's overpriced! The menu is limited and expensive. The drinks are average at best. The clientele is priceless! The bar staff is terrible and slow AND disinterested. Gets busy on the weekends simply because of the lack of  places to go in Millburn. Go to another town and go eat/drink there. Cheaper, better but the people watching is not as good!
Review Source:Great martinis but the food is absolutely GROSS! I will never eat there again. The salmon was too fishy and there was a hair in my awfully prepared Israeli couscous. I had to add salt. I'm not a salt person but if you have to add salt to your food, the food must be tasteless and that's exactly what it was.
Review Source:My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Thursday night for a light dinner and drinks. We always sit in the bar area, as the restaurant side is a little fancy for girls' night. Â The martini menus is extensive & the bartender (oops ... excuse me ... he's a mixologist now) has come up with some inventive cocktails. I had a standard issue mojito, which was better than average. The wine list is also extensive, with some good choices both by-the-bottle and by-the-glass. Prices are fairly standard for this area - lower than NYC, but somewhat higher than other parts of Jersey. You get what you pay for though, and the drinks are good.
I had a cobb salad, which was pretty good. The grilled chicken, meat and cheese were very fresh. Greens looked good, but the tomato was bland (this has been a bad summer for Jersey tomatoes, so not sure I can blame the restaurant for this) and the avocado was not quite ripe (disappointing). My friend had the roasted vegetable salad and said it was great. We both skipped desert, but the overall dining experience was good - good food, good service, and no complaints about the bill.
After dinner, we headed to the bar for a final cocktail before calling it a night. There was a live band, fairly standard I think for Martinis on a Thurs. The band was adequate, but the people watching was exceptional, and we ended up staying another hour simply to watch the train-wreck crowd do their thing. It was a strange mix of cougars, cougars-plus (or whatever you call ladies too old to be cougars, e.g., a 60-something woman wearing black stretch pants with bebe written in rhinestones on her leg), middle-aged married men, and the occasional thirty-somethings like us, with the wide-eyed deer-in-headlights thing going on. All in all, it was an okay night, but we would have been better off getting on the train and going downtown.
In a nutshell, Martinis is what happens when you're too tired and lazy to go into the city. Not too bad, not too good, but a night out just the same.
A bit overpriced, given that we're in New Jersey. I mean seriously, I can get an $11 martini in Boston, hokay?!
That being said, I like the decor, and I like the almost overwhelming list of martinis. I started with a lychee martini that didn't taste much like vodka at all although the lychee part was tasty.
But they make damn good dirty martinis - BUT WHY WON'T THEY STUFF THEIR OLIVES WITH BLUE CHEESE? In fact, the guy looked at me all weird when I asked if that was possible. He looked kind of offended.
The second martini brought me a little over the edge. I paid the tab for all five 'tinis. With a 20+% tip. Typical.
Been here a few times. Restaurant is nice. Food is good. Excellent menu. Filet cooked to perfection. Nice execution.
Bar scene is mixed crowd of cougars, divorcees and mature married men trying to hook up with the occasional 20 something girl if you can find her. It is an aged beef jerky meat market of a bar scene. Live music is fun.
Don't get me wrong, everyone needs a place to go. Quite entertaining.
My mom hosted a bridal shower for me at Martini's this past Sunday. Every detail, but particularly the service and the lovely private room in the back, was ideal.
As for the food, the salmon was particularly delicious, as was the cheesecake. Yummy yummy yummy!
All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the location set the tone for a very special day for my mom and me and our loved ones. Thanks to the Martini staff and owners for helping us create a memorable event!
I moved to Millburn a year ago and I finally went for a drink after a disappointing night in Hoboken. Â I just knew I should have went out in the city. Â Don't get me wrong, the Martini Lounge's modern decor is inviting and the martinis were deftly made but it's just not my kind of crowd. Â Undoubtedly, I will return to the Martini Lounge but it won't be a first choice.
Review Source:I have to say that this place is better than expected. Â The selection of booze is standard fare, although having Hendrick's gin is always a pleasant find. Â The cocktail menu tends towards the sweet concoctions, so if you like apple-tinis and sake-tinis, it is a good choice. Â There was an interesting drink on the menu with pomegranate, lemon, sake, and champagne that I didn't try, it could be nice or horrible. Â I had a gin martini that was very well made. Â I wouldn't have guessed that the cute blond behind the bar was of age to be mixing martinis, but she is, and she knows how to mix.
The biggest surprise was the bar food. Â I had mac and cheese and a side of wild mushrooms. Â Sounds pedestrian, but picture elbow pasta with melted Gruyere, chives, and little bits of ham. Â Now combine it with cooked wild shrooms and a pint of Sierra Nevada, and that is one great dish.
The atmosphere is a relaxed lounge. Â There are a couple of wide screen TVs showing sports, but they are unbelievably unobtrusive. Â The style is modern American, a nice back lit bar, some comfortable leather lounge chairs and a few cozy banquets. Â On the opposite side of the space is a more formal dining area. Â Come early if you want to get a seat.
Four stars for martinis and mac & cheese? Â definitely!!!
There are dozens of martinis on the drink list of this aptly named bar and bistro. I didn't have one, though they almost all sounded fantastic. The wine list (which I ordered a great Riesling off of) is also pretty good. The food menu was alright, there wasn't a great deal to choose from. I got a fancy French dip, which was good. The atmosphere isn't so great for a romantic meal, it was pretty loud. I would recommend this as a nice place to with the girls to get a few drinks though.
