Not worth any of it. Â My wife and I went for our anniversary. Â They were out of the first two things my wife tried to order. Â My lobster was good, but whatever she ended up getting was appropriate for a third-choice entree. Â No comps or anything for our inconvenience. Â We won't be back.
Review Source:I just went here for my birthday dinner. Their prices seem fair for fresh seafood. They were nice enough to hold our reservation even though we were a good twenty minutes late due to bad traffic and a rough parking situation. I can admit, I wasn't a fan of their cucumber mint martini, but my mother in law was, so I gave it to her. The Tom Collins I had was the best I've had in a long time, so props to the bartender on that one. I really wanted just a lobster tail because I'm not a fan of dissecting and eating and entire lobster. I don't like to work to get to my food, so I ordered off the ala carte side menu. You can add a lobster tail to any meal for $19 so I ordered just the lobster tail with a side of mashed potatoes and asked for it to come on the same plate. They were happy to oblige. It was just the right amount of food and I knew if I ordered the steak and lobster tail, fairly priced at $32.95, there was no way I wouldn't finish it. The lobster tail was good, sweet, and properly cooked with a side of warm drawn butter. The red pepper white cheddar mashed potatoes were very tasty. We ordered dessert and my mother in law got the chocolate burbon pecan pie that was to die for. I wished I would have ordered that. I like my dessert anyway, though, the bailey's mousse cake. It was very good and the bailey's mousse part of it wasn't overpowering but just the right amount of flavor. The chocolate part of the cake wasn't overly rich either and the raspberry swirl on the plate delicately balanced out the flavors. We had great service from our waiter, Starling, and it was a very nice birthday dinner. I would definitly consider this place excellent for seafood, especially in a town where good seafood restaurants are hard to find.
Review Source:Very disappointed. Â Had great lunch few months ago. Â Four of us went for dinner and no one left happy. Â 2 stars are for server. Â He did his job
Flatbread appetizer we sent back-could not eat it
Wedge salad was just OK. Â Calamari with peppers was too hot (spicy) to enjoy. Â
I had shrimp trio. Â 3 fryed, 2 stuffed and 3-4 scampi. Â Fried were good, stuffed tasteless but did have crab, scampi had a tomato sauce and they were mushy-bad! Â Â Starch a pasta something that was watery and no taste. Â
Crusted chicken was good. Â
Sorry but do not think the price is worth it. Â Go to Red Lobster,
Less money better food!
The waitress was a little snobbish towards us. Â It was happy our so our oyster shooters were suppose to be $2.95, but she rang them up as $5.95, but I didn't complain. The biggest problem I had though was that the tab was $40.93, so I paid with $60 cash, and she came back with only $8 in change. Â So I had to tell her that she still owes me $10. Â So I got my $10 dollars from her finally. (don't worry, for those of you who are wondering while reading this review, I still tipped her 15% of the total bill even though I felt like she didn't deserve any at all.) but needless to say my girlfriend and I are never coming back there again.
Review Source:When there are more "no's" than "Yes's" to simple menu item requests, you know you're in trouble. No substitutions is one thing, but no discussion is another. The Lobster bisque was full of corn starch and got sent back. The Striped Bass was just OK, and the Halibut needed the crab topping (at an extra $7.95 for a small ramekin) to make it worth the effort. And what's up with non-refillable soft drinks? This place is long on location and potential, but way short on quality and service. Glad we're moving to Dallas.
Review Source:Clean, So So Service and the food was rather bland. Â It is where you want to eat with your coworkers because they have cheap happy hour specials. Â Other than that, the meal itself is nothing to write home about.
Tried their Cod, Salmon, Seafood stew, and Halibut. Â They were equally all disappointing and the food took FOREVER to have it arrived and they did not apologize anything at all.
If this it not that cheap compare to other downtown options, I would not go back here at all.
Always have loved their happy hour specials and cheap food, that is, when it's not ridiculously crowded.
Been here four or five times for dinner and have always had a good experience, as well. Food is good, waiter's are knowledgeable and friendly, and atmosphere is semi-fancy but relaxing as well.
P.S. Shrimp Kisses on the appetizer menu are A MUST.
I don't really like giving places low scores, but "Meh. Â I've experienced better." is true of this restaurant. Â I have experienced better AND for less money. Â Yes the restaurant is fancy and impressive. Â It is a nice place to take clients or have a business dinner, but for an average person who isn't paying with a company credit card, I'm not so sure. Â
I ordered a Cesar salad (no side portions), which was good, a little heavy on the dressing for my taste but not bad.  I also ordered  the Shrimp Trilogy (buttermilk fried, stuffed, scampi and butternut squash orzo) severed with green beans.  The green beans and orzo were the highlights of the entree, the shrimp fell short.  The 3 pieces of buttermilk fried shrimp had a heavy fried crust, 2 pieces of the stuffed shrimp was stuffed with lobster (would have been better with crab cake or something), and 2 pieces of the scampi which was the best of the three in my opinion.  I shared a berry bread pudding with my coworker and that was actually the best part of the meal.  I had never had berry bread pudding, so they peaked my interest and it tasted pretty good.  (FYI for those who have the raisin bread pudding, there was no rum sauce on the bread pudding)
The wait staff was very good, friendly, and helpful with menu suggestions. Â But like I said, for an average person, I am not so sure it is worth the money.
I really enjoy this place. Â Anytime I layover in Indy, I stop by for an early dinner or at least an appetizer. Â The Bar Tenders are just fantastic. Â I will say this, I usually go before happy hour, so the place is pretty slow and the Bar Tenders have time to talk and service is always very good. Â Happy hour starts at 4:00 and the bar does start to get really packed. The happy hour menu is pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. Â The food is generally pretty consistent. Â The Oysters are always fresh and the fish is consistently fresh well prepared. Â I've reviewed this restaurant before and have posted some pics. Â This visit, I had a mixed greens salad with grilled salmon. Â The dressing was light and tasty; the salmon was cooked perfectly and the nice glass of wine the bar tender suggested went very well with the dish. Â Overall, I was a happy camper.
Review Source:I'm still as surprised as you are that I was in this restaurant. I was at a company meeting with my dad and his co-workers and we stopped in for drinks while we were waiting for a ceremony to get over at the Hilton (playing a little hooky). All I can say is thank god that I wasn't buying the drinks while we were here. For our party, three people, it was $20 for three drinks, including a normalized vodka cranberry that didn't standout as special, and two Miler Lights. I was blown away by how expensive this place was. With that being said, we didn't stay long. While we were there, we did sneak a peak at the menu, which was unbelievably expensive. If you got the cash, you should show off by coming to this restaurant. Beyond it being expensive and unaffordable for me, it seems like a wonderful restaurant.
I went to the bathroom there and someone had puked all over the urinals and on the floor. So there was at least that to bring me back down to earth.
It wasn't bad, just ok. Service was ok, a little on the slow side but the server was very polite. I got the parmesian crusted tilapia and it was bland with very little lemon caper sauce. My bf got the scallops and replaced his vegetable for another vegetable and they completely omitted his other side dish. The server caught it and the manager did bring it out later to the table. All in all, for a few extra dollars we could have went to The Oceanaire around the corner. We would have given it a 3 but not for the money spent.
Review Source:Dishes ordered:
- Dozen Deep Bay Oysters
- Cashew Crusted Tilapia
- Cedar Roasted Atlantic Salmon
- Lobster Mashed Potatoes
All of the dishes were outstanding, the front of house service was prompt, the restaurant was clean. At least for my latest visit, McCormick & Schmick's loses a star for our server being somewhat inattentive, and the dining room being inexplicably filled with smoke.
McCormick and Schmick's is a terrific dining experience. Â While they specialize in seafood, they have a large menu and options for everyone. Â Of course, the seafood is fresh and prepared very well. Â The selection ranges from simple dishes to exotic. Â It is certainly worth the price (which is not outrageous). Â They also have a full-bar and a wide selection of wines.
The interior of the restaurant is very clean and well decorated. Â The staff is terrific and I have never experienced poor service. Â I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the second location I've eaten at and while this location is in the Midwest, the food tasted just as good as the one near LAX. Â Service is very quick and helpful. Â They brought out the wrong entree for one of the people I was with and had no problem making it right once the issue was brought up. Â Always a good choice for someone looking to spend a little extra on some good seafood.
Review Source:Go for the bar and happy hour menu specials, skip the restaurant. Â I've had dinner here a number of times, and have never been impressed. Â
I ditto most other comments about the experience...I would rate their food a slight notch above Red Lobster. Â Price is not at all commensurate with the quality of their dishes.
If I could rate the bar separately, I would rank it a solid 4.
A friend of mine introduced me to McCormick & Schmicks for their Happy Hour. Â Their Happy Hour menu has a variety of appetizers as low as $1.95 to a mere $5.95. Â Their menu items changes to what is in season. You will find the typical bar food such as buffalo wings, 1/2 lb burger ($1.95), calamari, fish tacos, oyster shooter, mussels, sliders and etc. Â When in season they also have crawfish. Â You are require to have at least a $3.50 drink purchase to order off the Happy Hour menu, which includes non-acoholic. Â I have not been there recently so some things may have change. Â This is a great place to go to to hangout, watch sports, drink, and eat good cheap food!
Since I am a huge fan of their Happy Hour.  I had to check out the restaurant itself.  I was on the fence with the overall experience.  The restaurant ambience is what you would expect from fine dining and their waitstaff is sufficient as well.  The meal, on the other hand, somewhat disappoint me.  We ordered a oyster platter and crab cake for appetizers.  The oyster platter includes a variety of oysters from different region of the U.S.  I am very glad we tried the oyster platter because we were able to differentiate which one we like.  Our favorite was the Blue Points and we made sure whenever we order oysters they were Blue Points.  The crab cakes were good but not great.  I really enjoyed their heirloom tomato salad as a starter, but I do love my tomatoes!  For the entrée, I ordered the Sea Scallop.  I love love scallop, if they were cooked right.  My scallop entrée were definitely overcooked, being a seafood restaurant that should not have happened. Â
I will be glad to give them business through their Happy Hour but probably won't return for their regular menu unless somebody else's treat.
It was an overpriced mediocre seafood experience for me.
I had the "Choose Two" that included a crabcake and grilled shrimp. Â The best part of the meal was by far the crabcake, so definitely order it. Â My entree was served with butternut squash orzo (that was bland) and a vegetable medley (gross). Â I also added the garden salad as a precursor to the meal. Â Again, it was nothing special...just field greens tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette, then sprinkled with bleu cheese and candied walnuts. Â
The whole dinner ended up being hefty for a party of five after all the drinks, appeteasers, entrees, and desserts. Â If you're not a seafood person, go ahead and go for the prime rib. Â I was told it was pretty tasty.
We went over there for lunch today and I got a non-seafood item which I think was a bad choice. You can tell their specalities are seafood-related and everything else gets less attention.
The cheeseburger came out raw in the middle so that had to be sent back which just delayed the timing on the meal.
My suggestion: stick to the seafood since it is a seafood restaurant.
So I've never been a fan. In my experience, I've always walked out thinking I overpaid for what could have been a frozen meal from Giants. But the one in Indy is positively useless.
- Scallops are meant to be seared not roasted into a soot covered piece of mush. It's probably one of the easiest things to cook, minute on each side, and serve. I'd have been happy to do it. But then, even the scallops provided were useless.
- When I said grilled fish. I meant a) grilled - not fire roasted. And b) fish - what they served me was chicken cut in the shape of a wahoo filet.
Now maybe I'm the bloody idiot for trying to order sea food in Indianapolis. Land locked and smack in the middle of the Midwest. So if this is beeftown, please please close shop.
People can love or hate this place, but I don't come here for the regular menu, so I'll leave those reviews for the others. Â I come here for the happy hour. Â McCormick and Schmick's is notorious for seafood, expensive seafood...but if you are a newly-wed on a budget, you find deals anywhere you can and this is definitely one of my favorite deals in any town there is a M&S location.
If you go during happy hour, they have a special menu that includes a $3 cheeseburger that you can hardly finish that comes with french fries. Â Pair that with a beer at the end of a long day at the office and you have yourself a good time that you can afford or at least a cheap date night after a hectic week. Â If you are super smart, you will spring for the $25 gift card, which entitles you to things like priority seating, a free appetizer and it's virtually free because when they mail it to you, it comes loaded with $25 dollars on it. Â Also, on your birthday, they send you a $30 gift certificate that you can use throughout the month on anything, but I spread out over happy hour meals with my husband.
I am so disappointed in this restaurant. Â I was excited about trying a new seafood restaurant and noticed that Costco also had great deals on gift certificates. Â So, I bought some and made a reservation to try it out. Â
We ordered the calamari, and it was disgusting. Â The tentacles were sticking together, which formed a very large ball. Â The batter on the calamari was falling off and did not even stick on the squid at all. Â It made the whole dish look very unappetizing; therefore, we did not even bother finishing it.
The main entree I ordered was the Red Snapper. Â It was disgusting that I could not even finish it. Â The taste of the fish was seasoned terribly. Â It was pretty unbearable.
The best thing there was their panna cotta dessert, which was amazing! Â That is the only thing I can recommend at this place. Â The service was also nothing to rave for. Â Our server was busy with the party next to us and completely ignored us. Â He never came by once to ask us how our dinner was going. Â Â I will never return here again even with free gift certificates!
This is a menu made in heaven for me.......Almost all seafood, and all of it looked good. Â We were no overly hungry, so we ended up ordering off the happy hour menu and it was soooo cheap. Â We had fish tacos and parmesean garlic fries, of which each were $1.95. Â What a deal at a higher end place! Â :). Â I had clam chowder that was incredible to start, and my husband had a ceasar salad, which looked really fresh and yummy. Â Server was very attentive and on top of her game. Â Love this place. Â Wish we had one in MI.
Review Source:I came here looking for a nice sit-down meal that wasn't too expensive. Lo and behold - found McCormick and Schmick's.
A quick perusing of the menu showed that it was relatively cheap and the restaurant looked pretty nice.
The waiter was extremely nice and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered their Cashew crusted Tilapia and my friend ordered their seafood celebration of salmon and crab cake along with a side of sweet potatoes.
My tilapia was quite tasty - it wasn't too dry and had a strange but pleasant taste to it. The light crunch at the crust was quite delightful! I didn't try my friend's meal, but did try their sweet potato side. It was kinda strange... like cinnamon, with a crust of marshmallows. It was... strange...
Anyway, the food overall was pretty good. I came to Indianapolis to visit, and was pleasantly surprised with the food at this restaurant. I would come back to eat their other seafood!
We had a table of 12, and business was slow at the time -- Sunday afternoon around 5. I was worried we would have crappy service...
The waiter was super nice -- if not, a little overly nice and flamboyant --- he was very knowledgeable about the menu and was not afraid to make recommendations against things he believed the restaurant did a poor job of preparing.
The food at McCormicks is amazing, second to none, and for the value it's even better than Oceanaire in my opinion. I love the atmosphere, very classy with a definate retro feel, a nod back to the 30's and 40's. The staff is friendly and knowledgable.
We ate as much as we could, appetizers, desserts entrees and a large offering of raw oysters. The only beef I had was the waiter asked each of us if we would prefer a soup or salad with the meal. He presented the idea as if it was included in the meal, and it certainly is not, this is a feature in a server I loathe and despise and if it were not for the food being so good, I would never go back . But I like the grub.
1st visit to this restaurant and I really enjoyed it! Â Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. Â I tried the Pink Ginger Lemonade cocktail and it was pretty delish and refreshing. Â You can barely taste the alcohol but I know there was some in there because I felt it later. Â :-) Â I also tried the Guava Sexy (I know...funny name) and it was yummy too. Â The flavor was pretty complex. Â You have to try it. Â I could taste so many different flavors in one sip!
As for the food, the rare ahi tuna appetizer was good but way too small for me. Â The tuna was high quality but for the price I would've wished for a bigger serving. Â My husband had the raw oysters. Â They looked great and he said they were pretty good but I didn't try it because I thought you're only supposed to have oysters in the months that end in 'R'. Â Oh well....
For dinner, I had the Chilean Sea Bass and he had the Coho Salmon. Â Both dishes ( I tried each of them) were wonderful! Â You could definitely taste the freshness of the fish so I guess it's true that their seafood is flown in fresh daily. Â My son had the mac and cheese and my hubby said that tasted good as well. Â Definitely not the kind from the box and still a reasonable price. Â It's important to me that a restaurant have quality food on the kids' menu even though my toddler probably will only eat a quarter of it. Â It shows they really care about their customers. Â I also had the almond creme brulee for dessert and that was great as well. Â Nothing extraordinary about it but still a delicious way to end the meal.
The inside of the restaurant looked clean and sophisticated but still family-friendly. Â It's a little on the expensive side but for the quality of the food and the service, I'd say the prices were mostly pretty expected. Â We definitely plan on going here again.
The best seafood in town. Even though this is a chain, the menus are changed in most part daily because the fresh seafood is flown in daily. The wait staff is attentive and helpful and the service has always been top notch. And you pay for the freshness and the service - bring a fat wallet.
I'd say to choose the tilapia off the menu when it presents itself, especially the one with the hot buttered rum sauce - tres yum.
