Naked Pizza was so spectacular we decided to write the review right after eating it. We ordered a large Original Ancestral crust recipe for the Sonoran with a few additional toppings, as well. This pizza is an OMG-where-have-you-been pizza. The three of us LOVED it and could not think of one thing to improve on. It was the most delicious pizza we have had in years and years. Â Â I suggested trying a new place because all the typical pizza places were the same boring taste. We were all impressed and will be ordering here again and again.
NAKED PIZZA IS OUTSTANDING!
Good toppings and cheese, okay sauce, pretty blah crust (I got the gluten free). I've had better gluten free crust at other pizza places. This crust wasn't disgusting or anything, just bland and cardboard-like. It's nice that they offer gluten-free and vegan options, but the pizza is not worth the price in my opinion.
Review Source:I keep ordering from here bc of the gluten free option and the location.
Last couple of times I ordered a well done pizza for it to be crispy, and my request was not met.
Every time I battle with where to order from- Dominos gluten free vs Naked Pizza gluten free I go the healthy route...but my wallet would love to save that extra $15....
Customer service is speedy. Â Delivery is not as long as most, i'm sure due to a smaller demand for healthy pizza.
This is my first gluten free pizza, so I don't have anything to compare it to except regular pizza. I'm going with 5 stars though because the crust is crispy and thin. Unlike a lot of gluten free breads, it doesn't feel like a 10 pound brick in my stomach.
The extra cost of gluten free sucks- but when I really want pizza, I'll be ordering again. Delivery was awesome- I ordered off GrubHub at 6:22 PM and was told my estimated delivery time was 7:41! Not happy! But my pizza showed up less than 40 minutes after I ordered. It was hot and clearly straight out of the oven!
I ate a whole pizza and I feel good. Thanks...?
P.S.: Like them on Facebook for frequent coupon codes!
This place is awesome. Â When I called to place an order for pick-up, Justin was really helpful and patient with me as I went back and forth deciding on modifications of my pizza. Â Feel free to ask him for recommendations when you order!
The pizza was awesome, and while it was delicious and satisfying, it didn't leave us feeling disgusting like delivery/takeout pizza often does. Â
I will definitely be back.
This pizza chain is really overpriced! Like other reviewers mentioned, just because they claim that they use "natural" ingredients, it alone does not justify 4-5 stars. I decided to try their pizza based on the favorable Yelp reviews and was disappointed.
We got the "Ragin' Cajun" and it wasn't spectacular enough to justify paying the inflated price. The ingredients (sausage, chicken, garlic, bell pepper, onion) and sauce were sparse ("naked" pizza was no lie) and not tasty enough. The garlic added was the only ingredient that stood out to give it any flavor. The pizza crust was very thin and overall the pizza looked thin even with the toppings on it. Medium size didn't even look medium - not filling enough for 2-3 people. When we got the pizza at our place and opened the box and saw a Naked Pizza for the very first time, my reaction was "That's it?! It's expensive then...."
Their pizza reminded me of Pizza Persona's pizzas but Pizza Persona is much cheaper, tastier, friendlier, and has available seating. Both places cook the pizza under 15 minutes. Overall, I don't think I can motivate myself to go back to Naked Pizza and pay the high prices based on what I got unless there is a discount or group deal.
Since my girlfriend suffers from an unfortunate gluten allergy, I am usually forced to eat pizza from places I'd probably not pick out on my own. With that saying, I had high hopes for Naked Pizza because I do like that everything is natural and fresh. For the prices they charge I practically expected this pizza to taste like gold. It did not. And I'm writing this review from the bathroom where I've been stationed the past 24/hrs after eating from here.
2 stars because the people working were cool and gave us an extra pizza after they made one too many. Too bad it'll just go to waste. As much as I love free mediocre food, I can't risk being in this bathroom any longer. Christmas is coming and I've got places to be.
Oh and I guess if it even matters at this point, the gf said the gluten free pizza was "okay" but that she's definitely had better. Womp.
Obviously naked pizza was trying to be creative with the name. There. I said it. There are so many bad jokes that come to mind.
Thankfully though this place delivers, both figuratively and literally. This place makes me think of them as a competition to homemade pizza. I'm referring to both the homemade pizza company and the type of people who would make pizzas themselves. I noticed that the selection was pretty good with a wide variety of options for toppings.
I guess, the best way to describe it is: get a pizza any way you want, with a good variety. That by itself isn't as significant as that they cook them well. What do I mean? I mean that with a giant pile of vegetables on the thin crust, it was still crispy - and not a pile of oily mush like a ton of pizza places tend to do.
If I'm in the area, I will definitely be coming back here.
Can't say enough good things about this pizza place. In a city like Chicago, which is famous for heavy deep dishes, it's refreshing to find a place that's healthy and delicious. Typically you get one or the other here. I'm a vegetarian with vegan preferences, as a result of avoiding over-dairy-ing myself, usually when I go out or order I end up with pizza that lacks flavor. The Superbiotic from Naked was the bomb-diggity and had a small sprinkling of cheese so I didn't feel weighed down after my 10 inch thin crust and the vegetables really did it up. By the way the thin crust is chewy and toothsome, instead of burnt paper, which I've come by more than once when ordering thin crust. Â My boyfriend ended up getting the Chicken Smokehouse, although I didn't try it, he ate it so fast that you would have thought he was homeless. (good sign?)
Now, on to the customer service: We called in our order on a Friday evening, after deliberating over what to eat and looking up the menu, we were pumped. Our dreams were dashed against the rocks when the employee said we were a half block out of their delivery zone. Upon hearing the anguish and disappointment in my voice, he put me on hold for a very short time and spoke to the manager, making sure that we would get our pizzas anyway! (very nice and rare to come by). All in all it was a great experience and we will be ordering from here as often as possible!
I am always looking for pizza places that serve gluten-free pizza. I am glad I decided to finally try Naked Pizza! I ended up ordering the 12" gluten-free Mediterranean specialty pizza to go. It consisted of: Artichokes, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Red Onions, Black Olives, and Feta Cheese. Delicious combo!
Service was fast and friendly too! I called it in and it was ready in 15 minutes for pickup. I definitely look forward to trying some of their other pizzas in the future. Note: This is more of a take-out/delivery pizza place. I don't recommend dining here.
I was looking for a place closer to the Brown Line to get my cheap pizza. Sarpino's is a couple of blocks west, but let's be honest, that's hangover food (and pushing it at that). I am a big fan of Pizza Persona on Broadway and Clark, but as the cold creeps in, I wanted something I could pick up and go (can't beat the Diversey bus picking you up right outside the door!).
I was also lured in by the promise of a $6 one topping pizza. Walking up to the store, there were about five delivery guys outside having a smoke, but I didn't see anyone actually inside the store. No biggie, I thought, I'm sure there's someone there.
Yes, there were three people there, but they completely ignored me for five minutes. Turning your back to the front door and ignoring a customer calling out is just bad service. I was about to walk out when one of the delivery guys noticed me and came in to help. Oh, so *now* you guys notice me? Whatever, I was tired and hungry, so I ordered my pepperoni pizza and sat down to wait for it. While waiting, the guys who ignored me came around to ask if I'd been helped. I had a few choice words I wanted to say, but I saved them (that's what Yelp is for, after all).
Took about twelve minutes to cook, and as soon as it was done, I was out of there. The only thing that could save Naked Pizza for me was if the pizza was amazing.
Sad to say, it was horrible. The cheese was rubbery and the sauce was non-existent. What little I did get was bland. The only thing that was good were the pepperonis, cooked crispy just the way I liked. Unfortunately, they were pretty sparse on the pizza.
I wanted to like this place, I really did. I've been going on a healthy food kick for a good year now and this place was good for me and had a good location. Too bad the pizza didn't live up to the hype, and it had bad service to boot. They won't be getting me to come in again.
It was good, it looked good, they gave it to me for free, but it would have otherwise been very expensive! Finding good thin-crust pizza in Chicago is becoming a difficult thing, and Naked attempts to stand out with it's presumably natural ingredients. I am skeptical of this, there is pretty much nothing 'natural' around anymore and honestly, who looks for a natural pizza? It's flour and cheese, with the exception of some meat if your into that, although I usually opt for veggies. I would probably not go back, but I can't say it was bad, I enjoyed my 10," and you will too. Until you realized you paid $11 for it...
**No seating inside, takeout only!**
I tried this place after being offered a promotion from Belly. I am not vegan/vegetarian and don't necessarily try to be gluten free. I really like the concept and I enjoyed my pizza. It also made it more enjoyable that they use fresh and organic ingredients and list the calories on the menu.
I like being able to get a healthy, quick pizza versus the greasy deep-dish pizzas a lot of places have. I do love deep dish, but it's something I have only once or twice a year and could never eat it on a regular basis. It is a little pricier than the bigger pizza places, but it's also a much smaller chain and one that makes eating healthy a priority and I think that not enough places do that.
I kind of wish they had an area to sit and eat and enjoy the pizza, but I will definitely be back for more.
I like the concept of Naked Pizza, just not the prices. I don't feel guilty eating the pizza here (especially since it's pretty darn good! I suggest the superbiotic with pepperoni) because of its healthy ingredients. However, the prices are SO high. I kept thinking to myself, "I could've gotten a pizza hut pizza for a larger size and more than half the price".
This is the place for you if you have food allergies or restrictions since their ingredients are organic and cater to glutten free/dairy free.
Interior is very small. It's meant for more of a carry-out than a sit down.
On a recent trip to Chicago, my friends ordered some Naked Pizza for delivery. I was absolutely amazed at how fast it got there! The other places we ordered from on my trip took twice as long. The pizza tastes great and is apparently good for you too. I was so happy to find out there are two locations back home in NJ!!!
Review Source:I was so pleasantly surprised by Naked Pizza. I stopped in one day and tried the Super Biotic and was blown away by how good it was. The pizza was done within 10 minutes of me ordering it. Hopefully they'll open a store closer to me sometime soon as I'm just outside their delivery area.
Review Source:Direct quote from my husband, a rough-around-the-edges-calls-it-like-he-sees-it blue collar dude, after our delivery order of one vegan & one meaty pie: "Damn! This was hands down, without a doubt, the worst Pizza I have ever had in my entire life. Domino's is a step up from this dump. Why do make me order from these nasty hippie joints?"
Although I don't word things quite as harshly as him and my first inclination is always to support an indie business, I agreed with his sentiments at the time.
I had this last night.
We had a medium w/red onion, chicken, and mushrooms. Â
Flavor
It was good, but I'd put the flavor on par with the major chain places-Domino's, Papa John's, etc. Â This gets 3 stars...it tastes like pizza! Â Surprising eh? Â
Website/Delivery
We had delivery, and my girlfriend did the ordering/handling. Â Twas an easy experience, and she didn't want to smash the computer. Â Digging around them website (as I type this), it seems nice enough-very informative about what makes them different. Â
The bonus/added value....
It's natural. Â They don't use uber-processed ingredients. Â This gets the bonus fourth star. Â It tastes good enough to compete with the major chains, yet isn't extremely processed. Â So, you are paying a premium for this...but you are probably also doing the same thing for organic fruit, natural peanut butter, etc. Â
Overall
I'll order it again for when we don't want deep dish. Â My girlfriend likes the more veggie based pizzas where as I am much more of a deep dish or meat lover's person...so, this place is a nice compromise.
I'm a fan of Naked pizza. I've ordered the Smokehouse and the Ragin Cajun (I like spicy, meaty treats).
What I like about Naked is that you can choose between 3 crusts. Very thin, regular, or gluten free. While I'm not gluten free, it's pretty cool they can offer those who are a nice crust so they don't  have to miss out on any delicious pies anymore.
Their menu is simple and easy to digest. They have a range of meats and vegetables that make it easier to create your own. I hear they are even selling individual cheese slices now with your choice of soda. **They carry Goose Island alcohol free drinks like Cream Soda and Root beer which is a nice extra.
I do have some beef with them though:
The large thin crust pizza is not very substantial. Maybe it's because I'm used to thin crust pizza made by deep dish connoisseurs but I was left a little hungry after splitting a large thin crust Smokehouse for over $18 with tax :(
The Ragin Cajun was also not spicy at all so we had to add sriracha!
We were charged for a side of ranch that we ordered, but it was not in our box :(
A bit disappointing but I think I'll order from them again, especially in the upcoming cold months.
From the Brown Line this place smells delicious. I just got a $4 slice of cheese (it can came with a pop) and it was small and not that good.
Other reviewers have said it tastes like Dominoes with less flavor and they are absolutely right. Not worth it.
The only reason people say this place is good is because they claim "natural and healthy". I could open a restaurant that serves Bukkae and just say it's all natural and healthy and these same people would give it positive reviews.
You could probably get better pizza at the Lover's Lane next door.
Not sure what the rage is about...
I ordered a Ragin' Cajun on thin crust for delivery. Â The pizza came fast, and was hot enough when it arrived, so that was a big plus.
The pizza is good, but honestly I thought something called a "Ragin' Cajun" would be a little more flavorful. Â There was nothing wrong with it, but I wouldn't say it stood out either. Â Just average pizza.
As there are so many great pizza places in Chicago, I probably won't jump at the chance to eat Naked Pizza again.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!
It's perfect for that pizza craving when you're trying to "watch what you eat" because you can eat it and not feel bad about it. Plus, it's delicious!
The customer service at this place rocks. I called about 15 minutes to close, and instead of giving me some 'tude for calling near the end of the night, the guy who answered literally thanked me for calling near the end and gave me a 10% discount AND upgraded me a size larger. Justin -- you are the man. Such awesome people!
I used to be a Papa John's girl when I was craving a thin crust pizza, but now it's Naked PIzza every time. You really can't go wrong with any of the pizzas. And be sure to order the cheese sticks with basil -- every time -- you will not regret it. Just skip the salad; you're already ordering a pizza on the "healthy side". There's no need to kill the mood with a salad.
Also, the delivery at this place is superb. I have never waited more than 45 minutes for my pizza, and the delivery guys are always super friendly.
This place makes me want to use all caps. It's amazing and consistent; we have yet to get anything we haven't loved. The crust has so much texture and flavor, and there's not too much sauce. It's like...if pizza made you feel good inside instead of disgusted by how much grease you've consumed. The breadsticks too...cheesy, chewy, tasty. We get them every time. We tend to make our own combos, but the couple of specialty pies we've tried have been great too, particularly the Pima (I think) with beans (yes, weird right?), chicken, and jalapeños...really nice surprise there. We've ordered it for a big group and I think they're all converts now too. So glad you guys are here! Now if you only made a dessert pizza....mmmm.
Review Source:You know, I got tired of always eating Amy's frozen pizza, just to get the right kind of cheese, so I can't ever I mean, ever like tell you how damn good it is to be able to order some real good food and have it cooked up, and the even got that healthy healthy Spanish coke, because; really now, corn syrup is pretty nasty.
Can't express how thrilled I am this place exists.
I love pizza. LOVE it. When i heard this place was opening i thought it sounded really cool.
I walked in to order and i was shocked at how small it was, there is not even a place to eat it there. That did not really matter as i was planning to take it home anyways.
While waiting for my pizza nobody talked to me to try and make conversation. The customer service was nonexistant. I mean, come on, it is a very very small space, you could at least attempt to build a relationship, or ya know, thank me for giving you business.
The worst part? The pizza itself. Gross. I got it and i immediately thought 'This smells like Dominos.' I kept thinking that the whole way home. My boyfriend and i dug in and i knew in the first bite this was not going to be good. It was absolutely flavorless. The other reviewer hit it on the head...the crust is like a whole wheat version of Dominos. Unfortunately for Naked, the entire pizza is like Dominos but with 'nicer' and 'healthier' ingredients. The only reason i ate my half of the pizza was because i douced it in hot sauce and because i was really hungry and did not want to cook anything. Boyfriend didn't even finish his half.
Definitely my kind of pizza. I got a 10" Mediterranean on hand-tossed crust. Crust was chewy and tender, not overdone. Cheese was really melty and not layered too think. Toppings were fresh and colorful. The pizza was done really quick (easily within 10 mins) and devoured even quicker.
Only downsides: only carry-out/delivery (which sucks for me because I don't have a car or a place to eat near-by); located in Lincoln Park, but I am not (which is my fault more than Naked Pizza's); a little pricier ($14 for what I got--a cheese starts at $7).
Overall, terrific pizza, great options, and high-quality ingredients. I will be back, over and over again.
The staff was friendly and gave a brief explanation since it was our first time. I ordered a 10" original with red sauce, mozzarella, basil, mushroom, sun dried tomato, and chicken. My friend ordered a 10" smokehouse. I'm a water drinker and didn't have any bottles with me so I ended up going with Honest Tea. However they do have "Mexican coke" (made with real sugar) and I would've ordered that if I drank pop. Our pizzas were ready within 8 min as promised and were piping hot as warned. They don't have a seating area but there's 2 patio tables outside. We took our food to the lakefront and by then the pizza temps were just right. We both enjoyed our pizzas. The Ancestral Blend shouldn't scare anyone away thinking it might taste too healthy or kashi like. Their toppings tasted fresh, and their red sauce is on the sweeter side. For an average appetite, a 10" is enough for one person. I'd definitely would go back to try some of their other uncommon toppings like black beans and artichoke. They've got a parking lot.
They also had a TV rotated between their pizza making process and people in South Asia.
Guys, Naked Pizza is amazing! Â The place is clean, bright and very friendly. Â They have their menu painted onto a glass wall that is very similar to their website and makes ordering super easy. Â Their staff is incredibly friendly, I arrived later than expected and they insisted on making me a fresh pizza.
And not to mention the taste. Â Now I'm no pizza expert but I would say this might be the best vegan pizza I've had. Â They actually cover the whole pizza with Daiya so it looks like a conventional pizza rather than just sprinkling some on top. Â I got a 12" with their standard sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, red onions and basil. Â They also offer black beans, which is a rare topping to see. It's thin crust, but the dough is just chewy enough to my taste, and I finished most of the pizza without feeling too stuffed or bogged down. Â I went with a friend who ordered on the spot and his pizza was ready within 15min. Â He's somewhat of a picky eater but he thought it was great pizza and even liked a slice of mine despite not being vegan.
It's a bit on the pricey side (~$18 for a 12" with 3 ingredients) but I'd say still in the range you'd expect for vegan pizza. Â And it's ready quick so you could just stop in if you're on the run.
Unfortunately, despite all it's got going for it, there's no seating. Â It just a small shop with a counter for pick up.
PASS
Here is my quick run down of this place. Â Naked Pizza is a better version of domino's and papa john's but is absolutely no competition for most pizza places outside of the 'commercial pizza' zone. Â The crust to me tasted like a wheat version of domino's crust (and if you couldn't already tell, I think domino's is gross). Â The sauce is just OK, but the cheese is actually pretty good.
I called in my order for a large cheese pizza and was berated for ordering just cheese. Â The conversation went like this:
Me: Can I please order a large, cheese pizza for pick-up?
Naked: You just want cheese?
Me: Yes.
Naked: Really (said with attitude). Â Just cheese. Â You really don't want anything else on it?
Me: No, just cheese. Â I love cheese pizza. Â It's how I judge good pizza.
Naked: Come on, you have to get something else. Â Cheese is boring. Â Can I at least throw on some cilantro?
Me: If you're going to throw anything on it, I would prefer it to be basil. Â Cilantro is not exactly what I think of when I consider ingredients for pizza.
Naked: OK, fine, it will be ready in 10 minutes.
I go in to pick up my pizza and after all that peer pressure I end up with fresh basil on my pizza and a $2.50 charge. REALLY?????? I just wanted a cheese pizza and then you throw on the basil AND CHARGE ME FOR IT!!
My thought is, if you can't sell someone a plain cheese pizza, you know your pizza is not that good.
We've been wanting to try this place since it opened and yesterday, decided that the time had come. We studied the menu from our respective work locations and before 9:00am, had our dinner completely mapped out. At 5:00pm, I placed the order online for delivery at 6:45pm. I set the table at 6:30pm and lo and behold, at 6:45pm, on the dot, the doorbell rang. SP went to get the food and came back with 3 boxes when we were expecting 2. Apparently, they made our pizza a little smaller than it should've been (we ordered a medium Ragin' Cajun Pizza) so they made a second one and gave us both. We opened the box to see just how small the first pizza was and it was not really much smaller than the second. We both thought this was quite a gesture of good faith, because had they just given us the first pizza, we would've been none the wiser. It's not like the first thing the average consumer does upon receiving a pizza is measure its diameter after all...
Way impressed by the service already, we dug in. We ordered a Skinny Crust Ragin' Cajun Pizza and Breadstixx with Basil, and both were great. The pizza had an abundant amount of toppings and the ingredients tasted super fresh. The cheese actually seemed creamier than your regular mozzarella and did not taste oily at all. In fact, one thing that stood out to both of us was that nothing appeared or tasted greasy. The breadsticks were soft and chewy and cheesy without being overly heavy and cheesy.
The meal left us feeling sated without being overly full, and like other reviewers have pointed out as well, we didn't feel gross like we normally do after eating take-out pizza. Usually we'd feel guilty ordering pizza, no matter how tempting the idea is, but this is definitely pizza we can have more often!
Curb appeal is very attractive - the store is fresh, simple, and modern. The cashier was very helpful with recommendations and friendly.
I ordered the basil bread sticks and omnivore pizza with Daiya cheese - I'm lactose so it was really nice to see a non-dairy option at a pizza joint! It was also really nice to see the calories listed next to the options - the entire concept embraces healthy living. I waited for the pizza there, it came out quick and with a smile which was really nice.
Took it home and it was delicious! The bread sticks were very good - the basil is a nice add. The pizza was very light and yummy. I didn't even feel like I was cheating on my diet! I took the leftovers to work, and my colleagues loved it!
I will be back and take my friends!
The skinny crust pizza is average and the price is inflated.
Warning to gluten free / celiac folks: either their gluten free crust is not actually gluten free or they make the gluten free pizzas in the same oven and / or use the same tools to cook the gluten free pizzas because we ordered one from them this weekend and my wife got very sick from it. Â We will not order from them again.
So excited this place opened up in Chicago! Pizza was yummy and the staff were super friendly! Definitely my new fave place! *LIVNAKED* :) Â
Only tip I have is that if you "Check In" there on your iphone make sure you spell NAKED with call caps otherwise it won't find the right location.
I custom ordered a vegan pizza with cilantro, basil, and jalapeños and it was delicious!  Best of all, it was not greasy and I didn't feel heavy or sleepy after.  Guilt free pizza! The small size is perfect for one person if you are starving, or two to share. Good prices too.
THEY ALSO HAVE MEXICAN COKE!
After they handled all my issues, I have to say they are as good as it gets! I have never had a business go out of their way to make sure that things are made right.
The crust is still my favorite part, and since I can't eat the sauce that works well for me!
Eat more of this and lets make sure they stay in business for a very long time!
