The best green curry I've had in Denver.
Granted, this is not "traditional" Thai cuisine (as they readily and playfully admit on their menu), but a modernized version from an American's take on the cuisine. Â They hit it right on.
Also had the edamame which had a really flavorful but not overpowering soy sauce as well as the spicy papaya salad which was a great balance of hot coconut rice and cold noodles, sweet rice and spicy noodles.
Watch out! This place packs a punch in some delicious cocktails. With a large, wrap around bar that acts as the focal point of the main dining room - you know you're in the right place when in the mood for a stiff drink. The mo pho was my drink of choice and the deliciously tart cocktail was just what the doctor ordered. I have heard they have quite an impressive happy hour, but I have yet to be so lucky to imbibe half off here. Just another reason to return.
The menu, maybe not entirely authentic, is still solid and boast some delicious dishes like the green curry served with chicken over a bed of rice. The sauce was beyond delicious with the perfect ratio of coconut cream and spicy curry flavor. When in the mood for something lighter, the Vietnamese salad is robust with tons of ingredients, like green cabbage, mint, basil, chilies, shallots, and toasted peanuts. Plus, the open, large restaurant seems to always have a table available at any time for any occasion!
This was almost a five star place. Honestly it's in cherry creek, so that knocks off a star for me right there. Parking is always a pain, and the neighborhood in general I find highly irritating.
However. The Thai food here is incredible. SO GOOD. As someone who was lucky enough to live in Thailand for a short while, this is by far the most authentic (although I know they call it fusion...) Thai flavor profile I've experienced in Denver. The drinks are delicious, the laksa with shrimp is delicious, the kaeng kiew wan is delicious, the mango with sticky rice is delicious, the XO edamame is (guess what!) delicious. Fair warning: the drunken noodles with seafood is just decent. That has so far been my only disappointment. Also, it's worth mentioning that my 7 year old daughter ordered the simple salad, and was almost licking the plate.
Very very good. I had a fantastic lunch here - $10 for a generous bowl of Tom Yum soup and a delicious drunken noodle. Well worth the money and the dishes all had a very nice heat to them. I will definitely come back. Only thing that made me take off a star was the service, while good, was a bit slow.
Review Source:Ordered the Bangkok at Midnight martini. Muddled blackberry, rye whiskey and burnt orange rind. Â So good I ordered a second.
Ordered the mussels. Also very good.
Narrowed my dinner down to three items and asked the bartender what was good. He recommended all three but especially noted the XO Short Ribs. Very good - spicy beef surrounded by sweet curry.
Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks.
The crisp sweet pork belly and brussels sprout small plate was incredible! Â My Phat Si Lew was alright - the noodles were yummy, but a little undercooked, but still good! Â Our waitress was distracted and we had to ask for things a couple of times, but overall I would go back ... even if just for the pork belly!
Review Source:Phat Thai... Â Hmmm.... How do I begin or where shall I begin....
Had a Lunch Reservation for my foodie friends on Saturday November 24th 2012 for a party of 8. Â Time : 13:00hrs. Â Thankfully our seats and table were all set and ready for us. Â YES, this establishment looks swanky, modern, industrialist with a touch of "Asian" flair... Â
Our server's name is Shea. Â She is indeed accommodating to our needs for that afternoon.
Okies now the MENU. Â Plenty to choose for everyone's at the table that afternoon. Â These were the items I ordered :
* Â "Singapore" Crab Cakes ($9.00)
* Â Laksa with Shrimp ($15.00)
* Â Red Curry Colorado Lamb ($15.00) TO GO for Hubs + Jasmine Rice ($1.00)
Time : 13:29hrs
The food came out at a timely manner, which is good in my books.  When my appetizer order of Crab Cakes comes to the table, it LOOKS PROMISING, but on the first bite, it was indeed a LET DOWN aka MAJOR Disappointment.  It comes with Pickled Vegetables of White Cabbage, Cucumber Slices and Julienned Carrots.  The Crab Cakes comes with a touch of Kewpie aka MAYO, Sambal.  Please Phat Thai, I know its your interpretation but Please DO NOT lead me to the wrong  directions aka tastebud if you put "SINGAPORE" in your menu.  In which in this case, makes me sad and underwhelmed.  *SAD FACE* *SIGH*
Time : 13:45hrs
My main entree of Laksa with Shrimp comes to the table. Â Yes, once again Phat Thai interpretation of the dish. Â Portion is A-OKAY. Â At least there are several Shrimp that I can count. Â Flavor wise, too sweet for my tastebud.. Â more like a stir-fry dish as compared to the Laksa I am used to... Â Where is the broth people??? Â I whisper... Â I specifically order my dish to be EXTRA EXTRA Spicy. Â It wasnt spicy at all, so our server provide us additional of "Sambal" on the side. Â *DOUBLE SIGH*
Some of my friends like their order and some did not. Â The highlights was of the Steamed Buns with Slow Roasted Pork Belly ($9.00). Â This dish comes with Sriracha and Hoisin Sauce and with Shaved Cucumber Slaw on the Side that Phat Thai offered. Â The Thai Fried Chicken dish was a disappointment. Â All in all 3 stars in my books coz for one at least Phat Thai ALLOWS SEPARATE CHECKS. Â
3 Stars for Service.
2.5 Stars for Food.
Overall PORTIONs of Food can be TINY to some and OVERPRICED, since this is CHERRY CREEK area...
Left Phat Thai at 14:35hrs.
Hubs also rate Phat Thai 3 stars with the Red Curry Lamb I ordered when he had it for dinner that evening. Â For the Red Curry Lamb it came with Pita bread. Â A little unusual for a Curry Dish, BUT once again, its Phat Thai interpretation after all. Â To return just a MAYBE....
@15/2013
It is not very often that I write an update to a review. Â Typically, it is when I revisit a place and it is just not as good as my initial impression. Â I am happy to say that Phat Thai is the opposite. Â I have been coming back here a couple times a month for the last several months. Â I have had lunch more often than dinner. Â However, it really is the outstanding happy hour (and the amazing staff) that keeps me coming back. Â Happy hour starts at 3pm. Â You can now enjoy happy hour until 7pm in the bar area, and until 6pm in the dining room (this is a new, and welcome, change). Â The happy hour menu has some very good wines, beers, and superb signature cocktails. Â All of these are in the $3 to $5 range. Â The food options on the happy hour menu are extensive, and I have eaten my way from one end of the list to the other. Â
My favorite food items are still the grilled shishito peppers, the short rib tacos, and the lettuce wraps. Â Also, the sweet and spicy fried won tons make a great finger-food accompaniment to your libations. Â Among the non-happy hour dishes, the Thai Fried Chicken is still probably my favorite.
There seems to be very little turnover among the staff here. Â They all seem to genuinely enjoy working at Phat Thai, and provide excellent service. Â Gordon, Bryce, Eric, Hope, and several others whose names escape me, have all provided the kind of experiences that keeps one coming back to an establishment. Â So, if you are looking for a great restaurant and one of the best happy hours in the Denver area, this is the place for you.
We had lunch here today. We peered in at the menu from outside and were about to move on down the street when we saw "lunch special" which gives you a soup and one half order of  certain entrees for $10/person. That was a big discount from the usual prices and turned out to be all we wanted to eat. Service was almost more that we wanted. Huge modern space in Cherry Creek, so one knows the rent is high. Food was interesting and worth a try. Spice and ingredients seemed fresh and unusual. We were bothered a little by our server's explanation that this is not Thai food, if I understood what he told us in a lengthy explanation of the restaurant's mission statement. We did each get sticky rice included in our $10 luncheon and that was clearly a good deal. The soups were unusual. My wife had a creamy pumpkin soup that we both liked, but thought was high in calories. I had a tom young gum soup with 2 smallish shrimp that was 3+ spicy. I tried the beef short ribs and found them tasty but on the fatty side, though accompanying sauce was good. My wife had spicy green curry of chicken that was aptly named.
Pluses: fresh ingredients that are combined to make unusual dishes, upscale Cherry Creek atmosphere, reasonably priced luncheon special
Minuses: confusion of what exactly is included in the lunch special, "special" Cherry Creek North pricing and atmosphere, food identity a bit confusing.
In fairness, it could be 4 star. Have to give it another try.
Okay, I'm going to edit this review because maybe I was a bit harsh on Kristi. Â I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt that it was done on accident. Â I did speak with the manager and he kindly apologized for the mishap and promised to make the adjustments this week. If that holds to be true, I give 4.5 stars because hey we all make mistakes afterall!!
Here's the scoop...
Food: Succulent, flavorful, and just plain delicious. Â Highly recommend the shishito peppers and colorado lamb curry.
Ambiance: comfortable  & clean. Slightly posh.
Service: Â Friendly servers except......
So we've been there about 5 times. Â Service has been good for the most part until I noticed something peculiar with my bank statement.
I was auditing my expenses and cross referencing with my bank statement. Â I noticed that the server padded her tips. Â
My tab was for $31.35 + tip "Cash" (which I had hand written "cash" for my own reference) Â = total $31.35
Well, the server KRISTI had added an extra tip for herself on top of the cash tip I had already left her. Â (I usually tip at least 20% because I was a server all throughout college and if I leave cash I usually write "cash" in the tip portion so the server knows :) he/she wasn't stiffed)
Tsk. Tsk. KRISTI...I am putting you on blast on Yelp.
Anyhow, bottom line food is superb and I would've give 5 stars instead of 2, Â but if you get KRISTI as a server, make sure you pay attention to your credit card statements!!!!!
I am wicked impressed with Phat Thai
Three of us went on a weeknight and the place wasn't packed but there were enough people inside so we didn't feel like they opened just for us.
We started with vinegar drinks all around. They are darn good. I liked mine as much as I would have liked a Soda. I got the blackberry or raspberry, I can't remember now, and it was sweet with some tang from the vinegar. I was really impressed. Totally expected to throw the 3 bucks down the drain with a pain in my stomach to just try something different but I will be ordering that next time for sure!
The pork belly is fantastic. I want to get the Ramen solely because it is in it. Fatty and flavorful but it doesn't make you feel ill or like you will have a pork belly in the morning.
I got the crispy tofu curry and hurray for crispy tofu. Delish! The portion was generous and the flavor was divine. Alison got the Colorado lamb curry and it was even better then mine. I love how the ingredients are local and it sounds like things change with the season.
We will be back.
Oh yeah if you have someone who is a bit timid, or just plain scared of trying new things a great baby step would be the fried chicken. It was great and totally approachable for someone who is a meat and potatoes kind of girl.
Home run. We loved the innovation here with enough classics that even a picky eater can find something to love. We started with the pumpkin coconut soup- rich creamy and delicious. We also shared the duck buns which had an insane texture, flavor combo. It was crunchy, crackly, tender, warm and chewy all at once. I could have made that my meal because it's so darn satisfying. For entrees we got the Colorado lamb curry with sticky rice and the shrimp laksa with lots of veggies and a creamy coconut broth. We took about half of each entree home since the servings are ginormous. For dessert, because why stop now,we shared the brownie with toasted banana ice cream and nuts. Good but I wished the brownie had been served a tiny bit warmer. Our server Bryce was fantastic. We can't wait to have another meal here. Oh and their $1 happy hour sounds very, very promising.
Review Source:A dozen plus visits under my belt and I'm more in love than ever.
This is one of our go to places for HH. Â We know the entire crew, the wait staff knows us by name and knows what we want.
I'm still a lover of the Fried Chicken here. Â The homemade kimchi it outrageously good. Â The tilapia is picture perfect and is served with cubes of tilapia and sweet potatoes. Â But the true gem is HH. Â The $1 or $2 items on the HH is why we venture in so often. Â The duck taco's, the XO short rib taco's, the fried sugared tortilla strips, chicken sandwich, and so much more. Â It's all delish and who can't appreciate a $1 taco or any HH item for that matter. Â The drinks are some of my favorite, the ginger cosmo, the beers, and the mixed drinks I come back for every time. Â
Our group gets bigger every time we go, and each time we impress yet another person with the love of Phat Thai! Â They take such good care of us and we take care of them.
Continued support for Phat Thai as long as they keeping taking unique spins with Thai dishes. Â We love the creativity.
Stopped in for lunch (and wine) on a Thursday afternoon, and we loved it! Spring rolls were fresh and SO good. Â We had the Fried Chicken Thai Rice and were both in aw that we were actually eating fried chicken. It was sweet, spicy and gluten free. We both want to return. Our server was great, the atmosphere was perfect and we were right next to the window for prime people watching, which always goes with wine in the afternoon.
Review Source:Roll me out please. Â I always feel so heavy after meals here. Â I guess you can say that I got my money's worth. Â Especially with the $10 lunch special of salad or a soup and 1/2 an entree (except any entree that has seafood in it), it's a pretty good deal. Â
But you should really think hard about your choices because a lot of the dishes can be very heavy. Â For example, be careful about one too many dishes with coconut milk in them. Â Don't do the Coconut Pumpkin Soup and Massaman Pae in the same sitting. Â Both taste good, but too rich paired together. Â And especially don't do them with the coconut rice. Â Just go plain.
And the spicy dishes and kim chee are very spicy. Â Growing up in Hawaii where there are heavy asian influences from around the Pacific Rim, I thought I'd be prepared for the kim chee, which I usually devour. Â But I didn't come close to eating half of it because it was too strong for me. Â The Five Spice Ribs and Thai Chicken were also spicy, but we were still able to enjoy those dishes with some drinks.
All in all, it was pretty good and satisfied my Thai craving. Â But I had enough where I probably won't be searching for any for a few months.
Wow! Totally loved this place! I kind of want to go 5 stars. Sometimes methinks I be a bit too stingy with the star love.
Anyhoos, regardless, it was a total hit for me and my dining friends- as far as I could tell anyway, I was too busy with my face in my plate, licking up any remnant I could find.
We started with some cocktails. Hello- Ring of Fire! Love you! Spicy little mynx of a cocktail. Yum. Hubs had the Mai Tai- no idea why- it was way too sweet.
For  food we started with the spring roll and shishito peppers. Both were great. I wasn't a huge fan of the dipping sauce for the spring roll- it was a bit too sweet for me- but others at the table did enjoy it. The peppers were so smoky from the grill- so yummy!
Onto dinner...with a vegetarian and a gluten free eater at the table (which Phat Thai flawlessly caters to), we opted not to share our entrees! Everyone loved their dinner...but I am pretty sure mine was the best of all, seriously. RED CURRY WITH LAMB. GET IT. You won't be disappointed. It is so unbelievably delicious; I talked about it the entire way home. I dreamt of it at night. Wishing I had been a little less of a piggy and saved some for lunch the next day. But no...it was gone. Everything was gone. We all licked our plates.
Ok, so the others had...the Tofu Dumplings, Malay Fish Fry, and the XO Short Ribs. And an order of coconut rice. Y.U.M. No leftover, no empty bellies, no complaints.
Great service. Great cocktails. Fun vibe. Delicious food. Phat Thai is fabulous package of goodness!
Oh and since others have mentioned happy hour but there is nothing on their website, it's from 4-7 in the bar. Sadly, we were too late to enjoy it but it does look like it's a good one!
Phat Thai is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Denver. We always order too much food because everything on the menu makes my mouth water. Our service has always been top notch, too. The Happy Hour food and drink prices are very reasonable and there is a good selection to choose from. They just added a new thing to the dinner menu: Crispy Sweet Pork Belly with Brussels Sprouts. I don't eat pork (my dining companion said it was incredibly tender), but I love Brussels sprouts. The sauce on this dish with the sprouts is incredible and the combination of it with the apple salad on top makes a perfect dish. I am drooling just thinking about it. I also can't eat here without having a bowl of the coconut pumpkin soup - divine! There is not a bad thing on the menu.
They now offer a lunch special for $10, which is a steal!
We LOVED everything about Phat Thai. The owner was incredibly welcoming when he greeted us. Our server, Eret, was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was classy without being stuffy.
We had the crab mushroom egg rolls and crispy pork with watermelon to start. Both were AMAZING. I couldn't stop talking about how good they were.
Then we shared the Phat Thai reinvention of Pad See Ew, which had beef so good I just might have eaten most of my husband's share (oops). The noodles were a unique sweet dumpling-like take on broad noodles.
We also had oysters on the half shell (delicious!) and sticky rice with blood orange sorbet (incredible.)
I'm always on the look-out for unique nonalcoholic beverages, so had two of their sweet vinegar with soda flavors and thought they were great.
I saw quite a few past reviews of this place saying the service wasn't good and the food wasn't authentic enough. Either this place has changed a lot or those people don't know what they're talking about. The service was impeccable; it wasn't just our server either. Â The food was most definitely Thai, although it wasn't the same old version you might get at a take out joint down the block.
I highly recommend this place and we will be going back.
I had the lunch special which is a good deal. For $10 you have a choice of 1/2 and entree with soup or salad. I ordered the house salad that was fresh with mint and basil. My friends had the meatball soup and the pumpkin soup which they said was great. The pork roll was wonderful too with pork belly.
Why the 3 stars then? The entrees were just strange.
I ordered the eggplant curry and it came with a dollop of coconut cream on top in a white sauce. I thought it was cream but the owner has since explained that the curry does not contain dairy so it was coconut. The eggplant was not the usual texture and flavor of the common variety and tasted more like a crunchy green pepper.  My friend ordered the Pad Thai and found it spongy and not to the excellence of the appetizers. Most  of the high reviews do not include the traditional Thai dishes but things like goat and fried chicken. If you enjoy fried chicken this may be place but for Thai food maybe not so much. This restaurant  is "inspired" by Thai food despite being called "Phat Thai" .
I had the best experience here. Everything was perfection! I love that this is not your usual Thai fare. The creative spin on the dishes was utterly fabulous.
I have to start by saying we had THE most perfect table in a corner on the patio. Given that it was a gorgeous evening and we had Bryce as our server, we were off to a most excellent start. When you go, ask for Bryce - he will totally make your night. This kid is everything you want in a great server.
We began with the pumpkin curry soup, which was probably one of the best pumpkin soups I've ever had and I'm a big fan of pumpkin. I think there were spoon marks in the bottom of the bowl, actually. I have no shame whatsoever. We followed it with a green curry that totally rocked with flavor and the basil chicken that was perfectly spiced.
They have a great wine list and I was delighted to find a white from Portugal - something you just don't see that often. And priced at $6 a glass was even better. DC had sake and beer and ended with a jalapeno tequila shot that brought tears to his eyes - you know, the good kind of cry.
Gorgeous restaurant, excellent service, fabulous food. When I'm in Denver, I would most definitely make it a point to return.
We had a great lunch here. Attentive, friendly service and a creative menu. I like the indoor/outdoor feel with the doors opening to the patio. Loved the shortribs and green papaya salad. Beware of spice, and tell your waiter your desired spice level--they are generous on spicing up their food here.
Will return for happy hour or dinner next time!
I can't find the words to adequately express my love for Phat Thai. Â I think it's worth noting that Asian fusion is low on my list of favorite cuisines. Â I mean, it was...until I starting craving Phat Thai's outstanding creations.
Critics complain that Phat Thai is not an authentic Thai restaurant and chef/owner Mark Fischer is the first to tell you that it's not. Â But that doesn't mean the food is not ridiculously good. Â Chef Fischer's philosophy of using an abundance of fresh and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible results in the most flavorful and sometimes magical dishes. Â The menu changes slightly depending on what's available and in season, which means that there's usually something new to consider every time you dine at Phat Thai. Â
Honestly, not all of Phat Thai's dishes are going to be appealing to any one individual. Â My advice is to start off with something at least semi-familiar to you and work from there to find the things you know you can count on because you will find some very delightful go-to dishes. Â Here are a few of my favorite cocktails, appetizers, and entrees so far:
Ring of Fire - a sassy cocktail made with house-infused cucumber vodka rimmed with cayenne pepper. Â I was so disappointed when this delicious drink was replaced with a more summery version but then I began to love the...
Sweet Basil - not straying from the house-infused cucumber vodka, this cocktail is dangerously yummy.
Crispy Duck Egg Rolls - one bite and I was transported to the days of egg rolls past, before I moved to Colorado where all of the egg rolls are made with paper thin, crumbly wrappers that fall to pieces when you bite into them. Â The outside of these egg rolls are how egg rolls are supposed to be: Â springy, not crunchy. Â Not to mention the amazing flavors inside. Â Seriously, I could eat them every day.
Short Rib Tacos - scrumptious tender and juicy beef flavored with XO sauce and topped with housemade kimchi. Â These little things will change your life.
Crisp Whole Talapia - I love the unique presentation of this dish. Â Though the fish is fried, it is light and airy. Â The yams and sweet peppers provide a nice contrast to the salty fish sauce.
Spicy Mama Phat - This dish contains two ingredients I rarely and never eat: Â pork and oyster. Â I can't explain it but somehow everything just works together to create a big bowl of deliciousness with a satisfying kick.
Phat Thai is a restaurant that dares to be different. Â And because the kitchen only uses the finest ingredients, I feel free to step outside of my comfort zone and try something I otherwise wouldn't. Â Do not be afraid of this Asian fusion cuisine.
I should start off by saying I'm not a huge fan of Thai food. To some extent, I'm guilty of associating all Thai food with your standard run of the mill Pad Thai that I always find to be a sweet mess of noodles with peanuts and random "Asian themed" vegetables. I know it's not fair and there's much more to Thai food than mediocre Pad Thai that you can get everywhere, but I've found it to be a mindset that's difficult to overcome. I'm happy to say Phat Thai definitely challenged my perceptions.
They have a great selection of dishes, much more than what I usually see on the menu at Thai restaurants. We started with the pork buns, which were overfilled with tender pork belly and served with a hoisin sriracha sauce. Highly recommended.
For my entrée I got the spicy duck which was (to my surprise and delight) actually very spicy and not at all sweet. It was actually so spicy that I decided to take half home (which, if you've ever eaten with me, you know is a rare occurrence). I'm not saying it's too spicy by any means, just spicy enough that my stomach probably wouldn't have been too happy if I had eaten it all in one sitting. I ordered it with sticky rice, but I think when I go back I'll order it with the coconut rice, which I'm guessing would serve as the perfect creamy accompaniment to the dish. Really my only complaint was the price, it seemed very expensive for Thai food...but then again, it is Cherry Creek North so I guess that's pretty much standard.
Although I didn't order one, the cocktails looked delicious and I've got a couple on my list of things to try next time. This place is definitely worth checking out, even if you (like me) are a bit of a Thai food skeptic.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit and looking forward to returning. Â I absolutely love the space and relaxed contemporary design. It definitely adds to the dining experience without trying too hard or being pretentious as other venues tend to be in this neighborhood. Service is smooth and friendly.
I thought the food and drinks were priced appropriately. Listen, you're in Cherry Creek. You have to expect to pay a bit more than the average hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant. My friends and I each paid $30 (including tip) for a group of 5 and left extremely satisfied, so I'm not sure what folks are complaining about.
In my opinion, Phat Thai is the best all-around restaurant in Cherry Creek for scenery, ambiance and relaxed, but more upscale dining experience.
Raquel is the best waitress ever! We had the Phat Ass drink (super tasty ginger lemongrass vodka drink) and a cucumber mojito. For a starter, we shared the pumpkin coconut soup which was bowl licking good. Dinner was the tofu vegetable stir fry and the chicken green curry. Both dishes were fabulous, full of flavor and spiced perfectly.
I can't wait to go back!
I went here for my lady's birthday dinner and had a really good time. She loves Thai food and this place is definitely legitimate.
The waiter explained to us the condiments. There is sugar, red pepper, fish sauce and a vinegar. Each condiment represents the flavors common to Thai cuisines: Sweet, Spicy, Savory and Sour.
Each of those flavors was very prominent in the five-spice pork ribs. The meat fell of the bone and the anise, pepper, cinnamon, cloves and fennel in the spice came through for a complex flavor profile. The ribs were served with a quite sour & spicy kim chee and a savory fried rice.
We also had a delicious pad thai. The server warned that it wasn't a "traditional" pad thai and was more "Bangkok-style." It tasted similar though better than most pad thai I've had. A little less peanuty than some I suppose and with a lot more tamarind flavor. But I thought it was pretty tasty (if slightly expensive) example of a Thai cuisine staple.
We also had a pineapple upside-down cake dessert, which they thoughtfully comped and added a candle for my girl's birthday. It was pretty good as well.
As were the cocktails we had. Mine was a fantastic mojito. My lady had a yummy melon martini.
Food should definitely entice all parts of the tongue. Phat Thai certainly did that.
2.5 Stars, Terrible service, good food, crazy prices, absurd drinks (not in a good way)
Typical Cherry Creek new wave pretentious meh.....a perturbed server told us we would get seated shortly upon entry. The hostess was the best employee there, she smiled and sat us quickly. Then we waited.
Once finally acknowledged the stoic faced server took our order begrudgingly and disappeared only to reappear and watch other employees rearrange tables for a while. She stood right next to us just watching them while we were all in serious need of our cocktails!
Then the drinks arrive and they sounded great, but looked and were odd AND small. I had the Dee-lish. A strawberry, basil and mint gin cocktail that was more chunks than drink. Tasted fine but was a strange mush that challenges the drinker not to get something stuck in your teeth while filtering to the actual drink.
The food was good, but overpriced IMHO. The pad thai was good, not great. The crispy egg rolls were tasty, but tiny. The mussels were perfect for me, but too salty for everyone else. The sticky buns were hard to eat and the tacos were messy.
The guy who served the table next to me actually pronounced them 'musculs'. The elevated booths are a trip hazard and the space b/w the booth and the seat is for those of us with arm sized thighs! So uncomfortable. The restroom was another concept that works, but in reality is not great. The big stall doors slam shut, you can't see if they are occupied and there is no hook/shelf for storage.
On our second round of drinks, I tried the Midnight in Bangkok. Same issue, chunky as can be, but this time very strong. The names and descriptions were far better than the actual drinks themselves.
I don't recommend this place to anyone. The richies can keep their trendy bad attitudes and overpriced snobbery. Either we went on an off night and the other reviewers are right or they are the type who don't mind being treated poorly as long as you are in a CC hot spot.
This place has a good location and nice staff. Â The food is innovative and beyond Thai food and reminds me more of Californian-Asian-fusion, than your typical Thai food. Â I could see first-timers becoming confused. Hmm--porkbelly and watermelon. Â Great creative mixed drinks. Â
Suggestion:  Golf was playing on the TV the entire time.  Lame.  I don't understand the need for television-everywhere.  If you are going to have Television in a nice restaurant preprogram it or have  the managers be in control--not the customers.  Customers only know what is best for them as individuals...Regardless, I am rootin' for you--Phat Thai.
I was impressed with Phat Tai. We sat on the patio for a very enjoyable evening. I Â had the mussels which were succulent. After I devoured the mussels in 2.4 seconds, I Â was left with a creamy broth I didn't want to go to waste. I asked the server for some rice which transformed the broth into a delicious rice stew. A great dinner!
Even though the food was on par, the service was lacking. Our server seem disinterested and dismissive. I felt more like a bother to her than a paying customer. Where's the professionalism, Phat Thai?
Bottom line: I'll go back, but I hope to get a different server.
I've been to Phat Thai twice now - once with my mom, grandma and two friends, and then again tonight solo.
The inside of the restaurant is chic - high ceiling, leather booths and a long wrap around bar at the center of the room. Â You can get away with jeans, but many people come in khakis and nice summery dresses.
The food, both times, has been 4-star worthy. Â I've had a coconut pumpkin soup that was exquisite and chicken satay that is good - especially if you get it with rice (which is extra $). Â When we dined the first time, my mother got kim-chi that almost burned her tongue off, but in a good way, and my friend Marie got an Asian beef salad that she really enjoyed. Â The prices are a little steep, but that's what you can expect from a restaurant situated in Cherry Creek.
What's holding this place back then? Â One word: Service. Â I usually am fairly tolerant of a little lag time, having been a waitress myself for a few years in high school, but Phat Thai's servers disappoint. Â On both occasions I waited beyond my patience threshold for a waitress to acknowledge that I'd been seated and had to ask for my water to be refilled several times.
I wouldn't try to stop you from going, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. Â I love my Thai food, but after talking to the bartender, they don't necessarily view themselves as a Thai restaurant, but rather a restaurant that uses Thai flavors in their food. Â The original Phat Thai is in Carbondale and was apparently hugely successful, so they opened a restaurant in CC.
The menu is pricey, but the food is so good. Â PS - if you're ordering their curries or noodle dishes, they're big enough for 2 people or 2 meals, so it kinda justifies the price.
I ordered the glazed crispy pork belly with watermelon. Â It had cubes of pork belly, cubes of watermelon and slices of pickled watermelon rind topped with Thai chilis, cilantro, Thai basil, and lots of other goodness and it honestly was one of the best dishes I've had in Denver. Â I also got a side of their shishito peppers which were also phenomenal.
Cherry Creek North restaurants has some tough competition, now that Phat Thai is open!!! 5 stars for the delicious food, service and atmosphere. 4 stars for the pricing.
Prime location, smack dab in the middle of Cherry Creek North, good job! You walk into an impressive Asian influence industrial-contemporary design decor, 2 story massive floor to ceiling windows, up and downstairs dining, perfect views Cherry Creek North, moderate size bar, large booths and dining area, dock lamps feature the kitchen area, large metal lighting fixtures screams "aaaawwwwesome". You know I just realized, the restaurant looked like a modern Thailand Docking Marina. Its the fixtures in the kitchen that gave me that feel. Inventive! Love it!!!
Food was delicious. This restaurant is about "you choose the heat, from mild to spicy" The waiters give you an overview of how to use their condiments to spicy up your palette or tone down the heat. Like a chemistry project and you're the guinea pig heheheh. I recommend the following:
-Beef Short Ribs (use the sauce from the Thai Fried Chicken for this dish)
-Thai Fried Chicken
-Garlic Cilantro Crab
-Coconut Rice/Sticky Rice
Waitstaff was really knowledgable about the food, very interactive, catering, concerned, easy on the eyes :) and especially friendly! Repeatedly our waiter reminded us "if you don't like your meal, we'll give you another at no charge" Good gracious, why can't all restaurants be so accommodating like this? Fantastico!
Attire is casual. I recommend coming here for lunch, dinner, drinks, groups, children for a fun atmosphere for Thai dining. I enjoyed my meal here! I'll be sure to come back soon, definitely!
I recently got some takeout from Phat Thai and my order of Beef Short Ribs was so good that I am still drooling a little when I think about them. The dish had big, tender pieces of short rib with sweet peppers, peas, and mushrooms in a sauce that was made with garlic, coconut, and coriander. It came with my choice of rice I chose brown) and I was able to get a half order since it was lunch time.
While the food costs here might run a little higher than other Thai spots that I enjoy I think the extra money is well worth it as the restaurant atmosphere reflects a finer dining experience with a very open, modern, clean feel. And the food itself is created with a focus on organic and sustainable ingredients sources locally. And you can taste that care in the meal. I'm looking forward to heading back here for a sit-in meal, maybe dinner with Sir Nicholas soon!
