No fish and chips. An English pub with no fish and chips. The waiter said it was a long story, and I should have asked to hear it, because I'm having a hard time coming up with possible explanations.

The beer and decor were a lot better than the food and atmosphere. And since there's plenty of places with good beer and passable food, I don't see a reason to go back. I think this place will appeal to whiskey drinkers more than it did to me.

Pints Pub is by far my favorite brew pub in Colorado. Not only can you find an assortment of hand crafted beers, but they offer "real" cask ales and nitro taps on many of their beers. The Dark Star Ale is amazing, and the wings make all other wings pale in comparison. I've tried most of the food on the menu and the portions are hearty and the ingredients top notch. Try the Saulsbury Wimpy with smoked mozarella, and you can't go wrong. Great music, great vibe, amazing food and beer.

Well, this is a tough review for me cause I am a big Whisky enthusiast and they do a great job in that regard.  Unfortunately the food was bad, and the waitress had no personality, rarely checked on us, and screwed up my order.  In addition, she decided to tell my friend, who was with, that the way he ordered his whisky was not correct, and was degrading the whisky (he wanted his cask strength on the rocks).  Unfortunately she didn't bother to ask if he drank whisky much or she would have found out that he owns almost 500 bottles of single malt and understands how he likes certain drams.

The bartender was very polite and I had to leave my table to have him help me with condiments, and fixing my order since our waitress was terrible.

It's very unfortunate because the food quality, and the service is commented on frequently, and if they just inspected the quality of their service and product it would be a home run.

BTW, no real fish and chips at a pub, and not taking American Express is ridiculous.  Don't you realize that people expect fish and chips at a pub, not Salmon?  You sell whisky at $1000 a pour, but you don't take Amex?

I hope to come back next time I am in town and see if they have improved, but if not then there are  much better restaurants in Denver who sell a few good choices of whisky.

It's not very often I 'accidentally' stumble on a place the caliber of Scott's downtown Denver gem, Pints Pub.  I was privileged enough to have my first dram of single malt whisky (yes, ever) given by the owner's own hand and no less than a 30 minute education on what, where, why, and who single malts are.  I was astounded.  And the food matches the surroundings and customer service, in case you were wondering.  I seriously can't say enough good things about this place, and it's proximity to campus and downtown make it a staple in anyone's weekly rounds.  d

The beer is good, and the scotch selection is incomparable (although, according to my scotch connoisseur cousin, a bit overpriced and underpoured).  I've been here a few times before, and have had better experiences on those nights.  If you're like me, the service is even more important than the food, and this night, my service wasn't particularly good.  It wasn't bad, but the waitress wasn't especially friendly, and acted like she'd rather be somewhere else.  On an average night, Pints would usually score 4 stars, but this night just wasn't as good.

I had a bloody mary here today, which was amazing. We had our book club meetup here today and got sat upstairs in our own private room which was great!

I opted for the LA Wimpy, which is an avocado/cheese/tomato hamburger. Asked for it be cooked medium and it was right on! I really enjoyed the fries, if they weren't homemade, they sure tasted like it.

For dessert, my Mom and I shared the biscuits and the raspberry trifle. Oh my was the raspberry trifle amazing! Get this, it will blow your mind! The biscuits were great too...Walker shortbread, one gingerbread cream cookie, and Hobnob chocolate covered biscuits. Hobnobs are really good, and a special English treat.

Next time I will try the beer they have on tap!

Oh, and our server was great! He was very interested in what our book club was reading and told all of us what he was reading right now too. What a patient guy too, to deal with a room full of women, lol.

As anyone says at Pints Pub, CHEERS!!!

Friendly service, but the blandest, god awful food.

So at least the food is authentically British!

The food is mediocre and the beer ordinary to poor (the stout had a peculiar undertaste of dirt and ashes).  Most notably, however, we ate at the bar and had the chance to watch the bartender/manager be boorishly rude to every customer he encountered (including us).  Used to eat here frequently but had not been for several years.  Won't be back.

If I could give 0 stars I would.  The manager was incredibly rude and belittling to our entire group.  We waited over double the time he quoted (it happens) but he didn't seem apologetic at all, bartender very grumpy, service incredibly slow, soup was gross...pretty bad overall.

After waiting for our personality-free server to acknowledge us during a not-very-crowded happy hour, and then waiting for the bartender to acknowledge her drink order (according to her, they were fighting) we asked for the menu.

A "British" pub that calls a salmon filet with a salad their fish & chips?  Check.

A "British" pub that serves an ESB that tastes remarkably like skunky Budweiser? Check.

A process that took 30 minutes?  Getting the check.

    I won't be checking back.

I stopped into Pint's Pub on a rainy weeknight back in September, and it was empty (understandably). The space was great - nice and cozy, and full of British charm. I had a glass of wine (in a place known for its single malt whiskey selection, silly me) and an order of the crisps. If I didn't fear a life of obese solitude, I would eat these crisps every single day. They are that delicious. I regret not trying any of the beers on tap - just one of many reasons why I will need to return.

came here for the first time before a yelp event to meet a friend for drinks. it took a while for the waitress to approach me, but it seemed she was working the floor by herself so no big deal. i ordered a double vodka 7up, (yep, a lush!) id check and she was gone for a while. came back with this glass that resembled the ones you see in boozed up photographs of mardi gras patrons, she then politely said 'we don't do doubles, but this one almost is'????? they couldn't add another ounce? whatevs. the drink was clearly not even 'almost' a double, and whatevs on that as well. i was not dinig there but the food looked very heavy, but that is not always a bad thing and it is an English style pub after all. the waitress was very knowledgeable with the whiskey/scotch menu which my  friend indulged in. would i return? sure, and if for drinks- just order two vodka 7ups!

We stopped in here for dinner when we couldn't get dinner at our originally planned location.  We had intended to swing by for a beer, but ended up with food and a beer instead.  The place is fully British themed and cute.  I really loved the decor.

The beers we tried were ok.  They weren't quite the style we like, so that was working against them from the start.  The husband went with the Ploughman's Platter.  He said the meats on the platter were more like deli meats than usual and the platter seemed a bit small compared to other places.

I went for the Salisbury's Wimpy.  Essentially an open faced cheeseburger, it definitely required a knife and fork to eat.  The bun was hidden beneath a ton of cheese and gravy.  The sauteed mushrooms and were tasty and overall I was quite satisfied and full after eating this dish.

We finished off the meal with a slice of delicious chocolate cake for dessert.  The service was friendly while we were there and overall it was a decent place to grab some grub and a pint (especially if you like the style of the beer).

13 house brews on tap, 2 on cask.  Not just pub food.  The fish and chips are very unique.  Expertly grilled salmon, fries, and salad.  Healthy and delicious.  Plenty of other healthy offerings like veggie burger and grilled skinless chicken sandwich.  It's a good place if you're in Golden Triangle.  At night, you can park across the street for free in the breakfast place parking lot.

This place laid on the British way way to thick. There was so much so much kitschy crap on the wall I felt overwhelmed. Nothing was wrong with the service, but the location of this place seems kind of sketchy.
The food I had was average at best. The burger I had was fairly small and just not very tasty. The beer was average as well. They do have a massive whiskey selection but I didn't really partake at the time. I would go here again, but only to the bar section to drink.

Definitely a fun little place.  Had 2 dark beers which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Their wings aren't very spicy, but they are decent.  I'd suggest ordering extra sauce unless you like the blandness that is typical of British food.  My wife got the lamb skewers, and it was probably the best lamb we've ever had.  I also got a burger with chili and cheese.  It was served open faced, which was kind of fun since it would have made an incredible mess to try to eat with my hands.  The burger was also cooked perfectly for medium-rare (warm solid pink inside), which I really appreciate since a lot of places around here seem to overcook their meats.

This is a nice British style brewpub. It is fairly small, and that gives this place a nice worn in pub feel. A small patio outside, and a small room downstairs. The bar holds about seven people. There is also an area upstairs. Homey and cozy. There is nothing wrong with the service. They seem to know a lot more about the whiskey (which they have over 250 bottles of) than they do the beer though.

They have a good selection of beers. Two on cask. An IPA and a brown ale. A Scottish Ale, ESB, and another brown on tap, and a stout. They also make a couple of German and American beers as well. The beer is nothing outstanding, but still very enjoyable. I did not eat, but everything seemed rather standard.

Overall, a nice place to relax and have a few pints. It is just simple, and there is nothing wrong with that. A nice meld of a British brewpub and a whiskey bar. Check it out.

This place is probably as English as you can get around here. Love the decor! My beer-loving co-worker probably would really embrace this pub. I came to downtown for a class and met up with my folks for a quick bite. Ordered a glass of beer for my dad and he seemed to enjoy it.

    What we had:

    - Brewers Bangers & Mash: the brats/sausages were better than expected, not the mashed potatoes though. We were happy that it came with a salad, ask for their house vinaigrette, it's subtle and delicious

    - Salisbury's Whimp (burger with mushroom and gravy): not an impressive burger but the shoestring fries are very good

    - Ploughman's Platter: the waitress said she usually likes to make a sandwich out of it and I told her I liked the idea. But what came as a surprise was how the roll was cut in half, vertically! How on earth was I suppose to put together a sandwich?!? And the roll was kind of hard because it was toasted. So we asked for another un-toasted, un-cut roll. The sandwich I ended up making turned out pretty good.

This is one of the places I'll file under "been there, done that".

    Love Love Love Pints.

Scotch, Microbrews, Pub Food.  Even a small patio.  This place is great.  I even got to eat in the "Jury Room" a few years back when I actually was on a jury at the courthouse down the street.

I am a girl though and I guess I can't wrap up without saying I wish they would do a bit of a remodel on the bathrooms.  They are getting kind of dingy.

I decided that I either drink too much or not enough. Again, I've forgot to review another Denver establishment that I've been more than once. What the devil is with me?

Pints Pub, now I know it's not Scottish...but it has the largest scotch collection hands down except for our friends across the pond. I enjoyed their scotch flight and wonderful ladder of selected malts ranging from Islay to the Highlands to Speyside.   I'm drooling just thinking about it. I will note the location is somewhat to be desired, because during the day it's ok, at night I'm a little skeptical about my surroundings. If I recall I saw bail bond buildings not too far which in my part of town means not the best area you want to walk around alone, just a thought.

They seem proud of their food, the apps are around the same price as their main dishes. So if you bring about $15 you can eat, tip and maybe get a drink. I'm thinking they should have a scotch club, needless to say if I lived in Denver I would make it a point to try every scotch they offered.

I've had the brews also, not too shabby. I haven't tasted the lighter side yet. I usually stick with porters and stouts, from what I've tasted they keep me coming back for more. Also this place would be a great trivia night place, because it's small and quaint but now I'm just reaching on my review. So if you're in Denver it's worth the stop to have a dram or two.

I stopped off for a pint and a nosh after the Wine Down Crafternoon event.  My beer was tasty and the service was good.  The lamb kebab was a little pricy for two skewers ($9) but was very well seasoned with a nice dipping sauce.  My dining companions enjoyed their chicken sandwiches.  Most food items on the menu are $9 or $10.

The place has a very authentic pub look and feel.  I could definitely see myself coming back again.

    Do you like Scotch?

    Do you really Like Scotch?

Do you like Scotches that you can't get anywhere else?

This is the place for you.  It is insane the number of Scotches that they have, if you have had it anywhere, you can have it there.  They claim to have the most scotches outside of Britain, and I am one to believe them.

The bartender that we dealt with was also very helpful, and a fountain of scotch knowledge.  I pointed him in a direction of scotches that I enjoy, and he served me something new that I had never tried before, but I loved.

The decor is very fitting as well, it makes you feel like you teleported to Scotland when you walk in.

The only food that we had were appetizers, which are half off at happy hour, but everything we got was great.  FYI, if you get the cheese and cracker, it is just that, ONE cracker, but it is HUGE, HUGE.

Lots of fun, we will be back.

Yes this is truly a Single Malt Scotch lovers heaven. If you are this person arrange a designated driver.  It is almost like the cruise I took through the islands of Scotland with tours of many distillers.  But this took a week, Pints Pub you could do in day. Just do not drive afterwards.

The food is good, but limited menu. Generally in the 3 times their service as been slightly above average. The food has always been good, served hot. For beer lovers they also have very interesting beers brewed by Pints Pub.

Since I wrote the review we have returned several times. My 4 was based in part on their burgers. My companion loves the fish and chips. The fish is salmon. I have found their lamb dishes are outstanding.  This discovery especially the Sheepherders Stew. is WOW. I raised to 5 stars

They also provide newspapers from England for those that wish to keep up. Very nice place.

Beer was amazing.  The Alchemy was very tasty and creamy.  the pub lacks quite a bit of authenticity where the menu is concerned.  The choices of whiskey awesome!!!

We stopped by for a couple of drinks on a Friday night and ordered the biscuits to snack on.  Five Walkers cookies in a martini glass is not going to cut it.  I could've done that at home for crying out loud.

Going to return fora few pints again but I think the inside of the menu where they keep the food choices will remained closed at my high top.

I have always heard about how cool Pints Pub was and have always wanted to check the place out.  Finally got a chance to go there the other day with a party of nine and my feelings are mixed.

When we walked in the door the first thing the waitress/hostess said to us was "we don't have a kids menu or high chairs, is that going to be a problem"  Obviously, she noticed the 1 and 2 year old in our party but she might as well have said, "we hate kids, go away".    I am not sure why we decided to stay after that but we did.  The waitress then was a bit grumpy about having to pull a couple of tables together but we helped her and she seemed to cheer up a bit.  Not sure why she would be so negative towards us, it was Saturday night and the place was dead, you would think she would be happy to wait on anyone.

The beer I ordered, the Airdale, was amazing.  The Burger I ordered was ok, nothing special.  Although I did like that they offered a number of toppings for the burger via catty.  My daughter pretty much ate fries as they really did not have much for kids to eat.

If it weren't for the beer, I would not go back to this place and we did have a good time in a quite downtown bar.   I think the fact that Pints was dead on a Saturday night is telling of underlining issues.  Denver is a family oriented place with lots of young people with kids, having no kids menu, no high chairs and a really unwelcoming attitude towards children is cutting down their clientele by a lot.

I would go back for a beer but probably not for dinner.  It really is unlikely that I would go back, even for a beer, as I like my daughter and generally bring her with me where ever I go.

Service was very fast. Unfortunately the food ranges from meh to awful.

We were starving, but the burgers tasted just 'ok'.
And the fish & chips is NOT fish & chips. It's one chunk of plain grilled salmon with no seasoning and no sauce.
Seriously.  why did they even call it fish and chips???? It is grilled salmon.

(yes, the menu says it's not normal fish and chips but the menu is barely legible. why even name it that when it is so clearly NOT. )

accompanying salad and fries were gross too. I can't imagine why anyone would ever go here.

Slow service, but points for agreeing to split checks for our group even though the menu says they can only do one check per table.  (But minus points for having that policy in the first place. One of my biggest restaurant gripes.)

Though their website touts "multiple vegetarian options," as far as I can tell, these are your choices: Havarti and crackers, potato chips, a Garden Burger, or desserts.  Since I have a new policy to not pay $9 for a frozen veggie burger I could get from Safeway, I passed on food.  (Restaurants: a tasty house-made veggie patty will earn my undying love and loyalty.  It's not hard! I'll give you my recipe.)

Perhaps it's my fault. I went to a British pub on one of the first hot weekends of the year and God help me, I just didn't want piping hot fish n' chips or stew or other traditional delicacies from across the pond.

Since I wasn't feeling the British food vibe, I opted for a chicken club sandwich and fries. Not British fare, but c'mon, it's a bar - how hard can it be? Really hard, apparently. The chicken breast didn't even cover the bun and was reminiscent of a $1 spicy chicken I could get from any McDonald's. The fries were abundant but greasy! My date had the Sheepherder's stew, which looked good and he seemed to enjoy.

It wasn't all bad though - in fact there are some definite pros to balance out the one big con. For starters, the service was great (our waitress was very on top of it,) the atmosphere was excellent and the location is convenient as well. The beers were icy cold, reasonably priced and our server was extremely knowledgeable - I wanted something cold and bubbly, so she swayed me from the darker, flat choice I was about to make (thanks!). Also, the relish tray they bring out with meals is YUMMY! Best bread and butter pickles I've had in a long time.

I'd absolutely go back again, but next time I'll stick to the British fare or beer...perhaps some whiskey - I hear it's killer.

It pains me to do this. Really...Pint's Pub, two stars? What's all thes, then? I've reviewed them five stars before--twice!--so what could this hot spot do to warrant such a chilled review?

First of all, the Shanty's. Once the perfect way to hit that sweet (n sour) spot on a warm afternoon, now a watered-down ghost of its former self. My friend, another Pint's die-hard, warned me that they weren't using the same lemonade OR Harp's to make em anymore, but I just had to be sure. Sure's sure...what was once a crisp and refreshing drink is now stale and bland. Shame to see such a staple go sour like that. I ordered a Bitchcraft blonde ale (like, totally) for my second round, which repaired my taste buds while our group waited for our entrees.

Having had a monstrous helping at another burger joint the night before (review forthcoming), I erred on the side of lighter fare. Turned out that this was an error on my part: the highlander chicken was blackened to a crisp, so that the burnt husk overpowered the taste of the entire sandwich. The top bun was singed and crunchy (not in the good way), and its downstairs accompanist was a soggy mess. I don't recall enjoying a single bite of this sandwich: would definitely not order again. My friend let me tried a bite of her tuna sandwich, which was soused in enough curry to put the hurt on Apu. Too much tumeric and not nearly enough tang for my taste.

When I think of the food and drink at Pint's Pub, 'regretable' is never a word that comes to mind, but there you have it. The service was fine, especially considering the headcount of seven we eventually took on, but not as friendly as I've come to expect.

So lesson learned on the Shanty's, and maybe the cook and server were both having an off day. Fine. Pint's has definitely kept me happy enough to chalk this up to a series of unfortunate requests on my part. But damn the luck, next time I'm in the mood for a top-shelf wimpy...I'm not sure Pint's will be the first name to cross my mind. Rest-assured, I'll be back to review the follow-up visit, but I don't think it'll be in a big hurry.

Let me just preface this by stating that one of my '09 New Year's resolutions was to drink more.  Not in a-la David Hasselhoff, drooling-on-the-floor-over-a-hamburger but rather in a "sure, I'll have a glass of wine with that" kind of way.

So, flash forward a few months.  I was wandering around Denver, en route to the art museum, and my stomach reminded me that it's lunch time.  My companion and I conferred and decide on Pint's Pub - so I could get a pint with my grub.  Yay!

My dining companion ordered the Lambeth lamb -- lamb skewers with a tzatziki like sauce. I didn't try the yogurt sauce but the lamb was savory, with a great texture and a rather sharp, but good mustardy/herby taste. And to accompany, a shot of Balvenie whiskey.  This was quite a difficult choice for him as Pint's Pub is the purveyor of the largest selection of single malt whisky this side of Edinburgh, Scotland. There were quite a lot of options!

I scanned the menu and choose "Not-your-average surf and turf." It was grilled salmon with pub fries and salad - absolutely delicious but decidedly not "turf" at all. The salmon was charred enough to offer varied texture and was still suculent. And, there were enough soft fries to keep me interested.

When it came time to decide on a beverage, I had to ask the staff for assistance.  They were nice enough to explain what "Live Ale" was. It is made with live yeast and stored at different temperature as to not disturb the living yeast.  Per the staff, it is delicious.  However, I wasn't feeling that adventurous and so, chose an Irish Red, Palebox Ale to go with my salmon - plus it coordinated (colorwise) better and I didn't want to clash.

One of the best single malt selections in the U.S., with bottles displayed upsidown as they would be across the pond.  Prices are steep, but these are among the best whiskies you can find, and you can sample them one by one.  It's quite a privilege to be able to explore a range of malts that would otherwise be beyond reach if restricted to one's full bottle purchases alone.

Ales on tap are fairly good as far a selection goes, but I don't care so much for their house taps.

This is a shrine to single malt, and everyone should genuflect in its presence.

Kevin N and I sat at the bar at Pint's Pub last week for an evening of dinner, scotch and beer. They brew their own you know. Anyway, I'm fairly certain the bartender could have been one of those guys from The Shining that were eternally stuck in their role at a specific place. Not because he was creepy though, more so because he just seemed to have always been there and like he always would be.

We tried a couple of Pint's beers. I had the Alchemy Ale which was creamy and a bit heavy for me, but delicious anyway. I also had a wimpy, which is what they call all of their burgers. My favorite part is they bring out the condiment caddy. Not the one with ketchup and mustard, but the one like at My Brother's Bar where it's full of sweet and dill pickles, onions, jalapenos and so forth. It's like build-a-burger time! I also had their yummy shoestring fries to complete my meal.

Of course this place is renowned for Scotch and it is fairly amazing to see all of those bottles hanging there and to contemplate just how rare the Scotch you could potentially drink is. As for me I'll take the beers and atmosphere and call it a fine time.

Pints Pub, winner of the Denver Eponymous Bar Name award, has lots going on. There's the scotch -- oceans of it -- from rare finds divulged from distilleries long since extinct to your more pedestrian denominations, and they hang from the ceiling here as if descending from above. Which somehow seemed appropriate.

I had what was easily the healthiest fish n' chips ever -- broiled fish (quite good actually), with a side salad. No frying going on here, and my heart need's all the help it can get, what with the red ale (Phone Box, as I recall), the creamy Abbey-style brew and the sixteen year old scotch I was easing into. The background music tends toward the traditional, and this clearly seems to be a spot where the seats are well-worn from time well spent with friends. And isn't that the best kind of bonding?

I love scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch.

To be honest, I have never drank here because I've only ever come for lunch. Pints is one of the things I miss since I no longer work downtown. It's out of the way with great decor and a convivial atmosphere. I've always found the staff to be most accommodating. Come to think of it, the only thing I ever get there is the wimpy with swiss cheese. Stick with what works I guess.

Pints is a great spot for a post art museum visit or a lunch if you work on capitol hill. I think my true rating is a four star, but I had to give it a five to make up for the guy who gave a one star rating because they don't split the bill 100 ways. Guess what...carry some cash.

All my friends love this place, but to me the food is just average pub food with a british touch, the atmosphere is pretty bland, over the dozen times I've been there, the staff reminds me why we rebelled from the British in the first place.

I've been there a dozen or more times over the years, and the staf always make me feel like I'm interrupting or bothering them just by showing up. They won't split bills up among credit cards like EVERY other bar/restaurant in Denver does, and I've just never felt welcomed there.

To their credit, they DO have an amazing scotch selection, but for my money, I'd rather just shop at the Argonaut for my scotch and drink it at home.

    I don't drink whiskey. Can't tolerate even a drop.

But their cask-conditioned ales are yummy good and a special treat.(Even if they did try to talk me out of it. All right, let's settle this once and for all: I might be scantly over 5 feet and yes, I'm a girl, but I like beer, so serve it up, goddammit.)

I don't care for English cuisine. Far too bland for my tastes.

But I got the Somerset Salad, which came in the blink of an eye and hit the spot.

Four stars to exceeding expectations, but I can't hand out 5 just yet.
