This is the place to be after hitting Joes, Hogs N Honeys, and Crobar!
I may be wrong but all I know is that the second I walk out of the club, I am ready for a slice at Pizza Ria. I am usually broke as a joke on our way home so its easy to rummage around for $5 for a slice as big as your head, and unlimited diet soda...haha
Now that I think about it, I will have to eat here when I'm sober before I give 5 stars. Now you may catch me reveiwing early sunday morning on this place saying its the bomb... but thats just the kev drunk as a skunk!
There is no way the grease on this pizza is any good for you but weekend eating cheating calories dont count.
I'll admit it. Â I was a "pizza by the slice" virgin. I mean, what could possibly be good about one slice of pizza versus the whole pie? Â And who would pay for a slice of cheese pizza when for a smidge more- you have leftover pizza for breakfast?
Well, this "pizza by the slice" virgin is now a convert.
I was at a bar on the northside the other night that did not serve food. And I was hungry. Â When the people I was with said "let's go get a SLICE of pizza" Â I thought we were going to go and get a whole pizza and bring it back and have a SLICE.
No- we walked up to this corner spot- placed our order- and within minutes had slices of cheesy pizza in a to go box and were back on our way to the bar. And everyone got exactly the toppings that they wanted. Â Pretty sweet! Â Oh- and did I forget to mention the chocolate brownies? They were moist and delicious!
To the uninitiated, the trick here is to ask what is coming out of the oven next so that whatever you get is the freshest. Â But even the pizza that has been sitting in the holding cabinet is passed through the oven once again so it is nice and hot.
Gourmet food? Â Nope. Â But good enough when you are looking for a quick bite to eat.
This pizza place is open *really* late. I think I hit it with a friend about 4am when we got done bar-hopping. The slices are nice and big and they taste pretty good even for being made at a ridiculous hour of the morning.
If you are stuck with a craving in this area of the city late at night I highly suggest giving them a try...
Decent pizza...I want to give about 2.75 stars...my complaint is that the two kinds I sampled were a little low on taste. Â I know that seems weird, but the sauce was really bland and I just remember feeling like the pizza was bland as a whole.
The main culprit was the Margherita. Â The tomato sauce was just...blah. Â There wasn't enough cheese and crazily, not enough basil (and I almost always pick basil off of margherita style pizzas).
The better pizza was the Malibu. Â It really only tasted like a "white pizza". Â With cheese, chicken and crust. Â I didn't get a very strong feel of ranch at all. Â It could have definitely been a bit stronger in the ranch department (and I don't like ranch dressing).
I wouldn't go back on my own, but if we order in for lunch at work again, I won't complain....
I was almost going to give this place 4 stars, on the account that it is above average pizza at a very good and accessible location. But when i thought about my most recent visit there- the last pebble of approval had to be stripped. The people that work there are idiots- it will take you 15 minutes to get a slice of pizza that is already made and warm, with only 2 people in the store. And that is because, the person working the counter doesn't have any sense of time efficiency.
With that being said- the slices are somewhat above average, they offer like 8 different slices and they are for the most part, giant and not as greasy as other places.
Pizza Ria makes a decent slice of pizza. Â It's not the best that I've ever had and not the worst. Â For some reason, I only ever get pizza here when I'm starving and running short on time...so I'm sure anything would taste good to me when I'm rushed and have tummy grumbles.
I added an extra star because each slice of pizza is HUGE!! Â They cut them in half for you so you can manage them. Â I love a place that gives you a nice portion for a reasonable price.
