Ambiance: Think DMV with many more screaming children and the sort of people you see shuffling around Walmart at 3 AM, just much, much busier.  I even saw a dirtbag white guy with a swastika tattoo sharing a pitcher of Mountain Dew with his unfortunate litter of children.  If you're looking for a self-esteem boost, come here fully dressed.  You'll feel like James Bond.

Food: If a gas station minimart had a salad bar, this is what it would look like.  As for the pizza, I've had worse, but not often and always for about a third of the price.  I was shocked to see a few people getting it to-go.  If you aren't coming here strictly for the benefit of your children (or because you really dislike them and want them to get scabies), I have no idea why you'd suffer this pizza.

Service: The employees all have the thousand-yard stare.  Make no mistake, existing in this restaurant is among the most primal of struggles.

    Parking: Ample.

I am really disappointed. I ordered a delivery half veggie half pepperoni. I live literally 2 blocks away. It took 54 minutes to get here. There was sausage all over the veggie side. I have vegetarian living here. Nor did order sausage at all. The cheese was cold and someone threw on half ass sliced tomatoes like it was a last thought. I will not be going there again nor will i be ordering from there again.

4 salads (one pass through only), 1 pitcher soda, 1 large pizza.  $52.00!!  We were hoping for that price the pizza would be good.  No such luck.  The staff seemed less than happy to have their job and very unfriendly.  The kids don't seem to care, but then again they aren't paying.  Will not be back.

OK pizza but TERRIBLE service. We had our casual rehearsal dinner there and they ruined it for me by not properly staffing despite 7-8 months of advance notice.  I was sitting there ordering sodas, clearing tables of empty pitchers and pizza pans.  On top of that, they never told me they cannot serve beer outside so I was left making shuttle runs every 10 minutes.  Terrible terrible management.  One bright light - the young manager on staff (Justin? Jason?) did a fantastic job with the situation.

Rapids is by far our favorite pizza and also have a really awesome salad bar. Not a place you want to go to avoid kids or crowds though. But it has a decent beer and wine bar and in the summer you can sit right on the river (hard to believe its surrounded by industrial crap and RV parks).  Great for big groups and often has musical groups perform. Downside is the increase in "social media craze" advertisements all over the place. Just seems odd for a family place. LOTS of parking. Love this place, only reason it's not 5 stars is all the kids and noise.

Definitely a Pietro's wanna be. Their pizza is similar but only half as good. Expensive. Does have a great location and of course the carousel.

This place is the Chuck-E-Cheese of Oregon. If you have kids, go here. Games, indoor merry-go-round, and plenty of room for the kids to be kids. Pizza is ok...and I was starving at the time. I don't think I saw anyone without kids in this joint, and it was recommended to me by my buddy who has 2 kids. Don't expect gourmet pizza. I'll try somewhere else next time.

Note: They don't allow you to take any ranch dressing from the salad bar unless you buy a salad. What!? Ranch and pizza go together like steak and lobster! Come on!

Left Eugene in 1994, the best pizza was Peitros Pizza. The cornmeal crispy crust, great sauce, perfect amount of cheese, and loads of fresh toppings.

Came back for a funeral today, stopped at Roaring Rapids and noticed the menu was very similar to Peitros.  Pizza is pricey, drinks are cheap the the place is busy.  They must have bought the business from Peitros.

Would go back on my next visit, pizza places just dont do the Peitro Crust anywhere else. I love the crust.

The location of this place can't be beat.  Right on the river, nice view and on the sunny days you can sit outside.
The pizza is pricey.  My wife loves the "Nile".  It has pesto, feta and I think sun dried tomatoes.  I'm more of the traditionalist.  I do pizza with pepperoni and.......as long as it doesn't have onion. Fresh salads if you don't want to pork out on only pizza.  It's a great place to take kids.  The free carousel, and small play area is nice.  It has a window divider, so you can sit out where it's not quite as noisy.  They have a private room you can get if you want to throw a party.  The staff is very friendly.
really, pizza is like an opinion.  We all have our favorites.  This place is one of ours..

Growing up we used to go to Pietro's Pizza at this location before it was sold and the new owner changed the name to Roaring Rapids Pizza.

When it comes to pizza, we aren't too picky but we do have standards.
We like thin crispy crust - check.
We like pan crust that isn't soggy - check.
We like real cheese - check.
We like the right amount of sauce; not too much, not too little - check
We like fresh toppings - check

The comment about frozen crust in another review is ridiculous considering you can watch them make it from the counter.

When we are going out for pizza, we care more about the experience than the pizza itself. For the adults, there is not a better view of the river with outdoor seating in the greater Eugene / Springfield area. No noticeable mosquitoes which is rare for outdoor seating in Oregon, especially in the summer when you're close to the water.

For the kids they have a small game room with an arcade, no ball pit so I don't have to say no to the kids wanting to crawl around in a disease infested pool, and best of all, a historic carousel with free rides for the kids! What can be better than that?

The staff is polite and friendly. Service is typical for a pizza place. Order at the counter, they give you a number and deliver to the table. If it's not too busy, they may even come to refill your drink, but expect to go to the window for your refills.

There is ample free parking and seating for any size group, but use your head. If you're taking everyone you know, call ahead and they will reserve a big enough section for you.

For those looking for a little more entertainment before or after dinner, the best mini golf course in town is in the same parking lot just steps away.

Prices are average for a dine in pizza place, but with the view and free carousel rides it makes it better than most in my book.

Bachelor / Bachelorette parties / business meetings - no.
Date night by the river or a great time with the family, YES!

Just held a bachelorette party here last weekend. Parking was plenty as they have a huge lot that they share with Camp Putt. The atmosphere was good, we made a reservation and they put us in the back of a side room, it was perfect! No kids running past screaming and we had our own little party space.

While everyone loved the atmosphere and the carousel rides, not everyone liked the pizza. The crust was bland and too crunchy to even be worth eating. The toppings were good, but kind of blah when paired with the crust. I tried the Umpqua Barbeque Chicken and the Owyhee Garden Medley, both of which are usually my favorites at other places. Not near enough chicken or BBQ flavor made that pizza fail, you couldn't even taste the sun dried tomatoes on it. The veggie was mildly better thanks to the veggies that were piled on it but still wasn't great thanks to the crust.

The quality was definitely not what I was expecting when we paid around $25 for each pie. We did like the unlimited refills on the soft drinks though! Maybe the deep dish crust would have been better, we'll try it if we ever come back.

Overall I would only recommend coming here if you really want a carousel ride or want to enjoy the view from the patio. The food is too tasteless to justify the cost.

Check this place out for the indoor carousel and great view of the Willamette river rapids. Sit outside if the weather permits.

The pizza is all cheap cheese and forgettable crust, but most of the pizza you find in Eugene isn't much better. At least Roaring Rapids gives you free entertainment for the little ones and something pretty to see.

Adults can drink beer by the pitcher if they are so inclined.

Parent's Note: They have a fleet of high chairs available so this is a good place to go with a group of parents and babies. The carousel only runs every 25 minutes so keep an eye on the time, you don't want to miss your go-around.

Eh this has to be the blandest pizza ever. I guess this is fitting though since it seems to be a kid place. Go there, drop off your kids on the rides and don't worry if the kids will eat the pizza, its so bland any kid will most certainly like it. Perhaps that may be why? Seriously folks, remember that tasteless pizza you had in your highschool cafeteria? Well this is it.

If you have kids this place is probably pretty cool, the kids will probably not protest the bland food, and enjoy the rides while you grab a beer and get a break from them. If you do not have kids, and aren't going to a party type thing, avoid it.

The best thing about this place is the outdoor seating. You can drop your kids off to the carousel and grab a beer and head outdoors. If you bring your screaming ass kid outside, expect a glare from me!
The pizza is just so-so. I feel like the crust was frozen, and the sauce splattered on to save money. Cheese was real, I will give them that.
It's kinda like getting pizza at chuck e cheese, you don't expect it to be great! But you expect your kids to give you a moments rest!
Nice place to relax in the coming summer months!

Roaring Rapids is basically Pietro's Pizza with a new name. And a rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet.

I grew up on pizza, it's a family favorite and for about 5 years during my childhood my mom worked at and owned a small pizza joint. Basically this means I'm a pizza junky. I don't like a wide array of toppings or for my pie to be "decorated" with fancy flavors and herbs. I don't even care if you call it New York, Chicago or California style, I just want it to taste good. That is what Roaring Rapids has locked down: taste. They basically use the same recipe that Pietro's used so the pizza still tastes as great as it always did with it's crispy crust and gooey sauce and cheese.

Besides the pizza thing, Roaring Rapids has  a great location. Being right on the river, it opens a back patio during the warmer months and you're welcome to enjoy your food and beer outside in the wonderful Oregon sun. They have a well manicured lawn and a secure fence so no one can wander off and get swept away with the current.

The real deal sealer though, is the old carousel they still have inside the parlor. I remember loving the carousel when I was younger and am so glad they kept it from the Pietro's days. While the parents enjoy some good beer and conversations the kids can ride the mechanical horses till their heart is content, or you tear them away crying, which ever comes first.
