This past Saturday, I dined at Ruth's Chris with friends visiting from the UK. I managed to get a last minute reservation and immensely enjoyed my dining experience.

My guests and I really enjoyed the quality of service by the hostess and our waiter.  I started with the classic Cesar salad with anchovies (nice little twist then the traditional grilled chicken breast). My entree was the fillet and grilled jumbo shrimps; which was served on a hot plate. The portions were quite generous and my steak was tender and juicy.

    A bit pricey...but worth every $

Ruth Chris has never failed to deliver a great experience, and this Valentine's Day was no exception.  Service was amazing, food was great and I couldn't complain if I wanted to.  Great evening and thanks for accomodating us after being late!

I have had a lot of steaks in my time but this was absolutely the best I have ever enjoyed. Simply melted in my mouth. The portions are insane (and so are the prices), the staff is superb, the wine list is pure quality and the decor is classic. I have been to several other RCs, but this is by far the best.

Disappointing fillet. I've been dining at Ruth's Chris for years and it's likely going to be years before I dine at one again. Many like myself come back for the sizzling, high temperature, buttery plate your steak is served on.

A great fillet should be shaped sort of like a hockey puck and be melt in your mouth tender, tasty and cooked spot on. What I'm increasingly finding at Ruth's is a fillet that looks like it's got compartments as opposed to being one solid puck, and the end result is a tough steak that's disappointing. Unfortunately, when the steak is disappointing the dining experience is as well.

The wife and I have consistently had better steak elsewhere which unfortunately, doesn't come on that buttery, sizzling, high temperature plate. While the way Ruth's serves their steak may be great, it's the steak itself that's lacking. My guess is the fillet here takes a back seat to price points and profit margins. When you spend $300.00 for a table of four, there's an expectation the cut of steak being served is going to be up there with the rest of the best. While we were asked many times how things were, over half of my fillet remained uneaten after several attempts to find a chewable section of the steak failed. I opted not to call it to the servers attention to save myself the dialogue over a bum steer.

And here's a tip to servers: When you have multiple orders for the exact same steak, cooked the exactly the same way, give the one that looks like a hockey puck to the person who's name the reservation is in. They are likely the one who's picking up the tab and are the most likely to be displeased with the bum steer, because they are picking up the tab. The accompanying out of town visitor or teenager that is getting the better looking steak, their thoroughly enjoying isn't the one paying or deciding which restaurant to dine at. Anyone who's not shelling out anything for a dining experience is going to be far less likely to be disappointed with a tuff steak than someone who is.

    Expensively Delicious!

Tasty yes, affordable no. It may be one of the best steaks around, but it will cost a lump sum.

Great as always. In keeping with the standard I have come to expect from Ruth's.  Great steak, delicious sides, nice wine list. When you are in the mood for a steak and you don't want to mess around.. this is a place you can count on!

Never been to this location but been to ones in San francisco, Roswell (Atlanta), Denver, and San Diego locations.  They were very good and consistent.  Only down side is they are so expensive.  Everything is ala carte.  But the flavor in ur steak is definitely mouth watering.

Its Ruth's Chris... Need I say anything else?!  If you haven't had a steak here...well then you'll probably live longer than I, but I'll definitely be happier!! It's really frickin delicious if you couldn't already deduce that.  My only gripe with this specific location is the decor. I've only been here once but I felt like I was in a time warp when I walked in.  It's vintage late 70's/80's.  I'm pretty sure whichever restaurant group owns Ruth's Chris has some extra cash laying around to give this place a face lift. Regardless...you should go!

I walked off a plane in Fort Lauderdale and decided that Ruth Chris sounded like a nice way to start the week off. RC delivers unmatched service in every location I've dined in and the Fort Lauderdale location was no exception. The wine list is certainly quality and my steak was done as requested...once again consistantancy is the Ruth Chris way.
The only issue is that RC is really getting the price point to a level that may be too high for the quality of the meal. Don't get me wrong, steaks are good as was the wine, but some of the competition is serving comparable food and wine for quite a bit less. Still, it's a safe choice for a steak and I will remain a fan ...unless I lose my job!   ;-)

This place was great. Great service, great food. My girlfriend and I vacationed in fort lauderdale and tried a local place The night before (that was awful) and we decided to stick with what we know.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because a place has to blow my mind. I feel 5 stars are given out too often

I was totally impressed by a waiter named Tony. He has a lot of character and personality. Although he wasn't our waiter, I noticed him across the room and had to get a word with him. And I wasn't disappointed.

Stafani, was our waitress. And she was amazing. She had great suggestions, and didn't lose her cool when the table next to us was complaining about everything about their meal. Getting the manager involved and everything. I think that that table was putting on a dog and pony show to get a free meal.

I'll be back to this location if I'm ever in town again

Love at first bite!!! I cannot describe how delicious this Fillet Mignon was! But maybe we should start from the beginning.

My BF and I wanted to come here for our 3 yr Anniversary. Figured it wouldn't be packed on a Tuesday evening, but we made reservations anyway. We arrived right on time due to the lovely Ft. Lauderdale construction. I believe you can only valet. So we did. The hostess checked us in and immediately walked us to our table. We were greeted by one waiter and then served by another. At first, she came off to me as pushy. It felt to me as if she didn't want to take us seriously. We ordered wine to start and went on to ordering our main courses. She insisted that we order sides, so ordered the cream spinach side. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE PLATE IS EXTREMELY HOT. Some people don't listen and burn themselves. Our meal was heavenly. The butter sauce on the fillet was exquisite! There was food left on the table once we left. Worth the $$$

Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself!

Went to this restaurant for valentines day and was very happy with the food and service.  The only reason this location is not getting 5/5 rating is for the layout of the restaurant... It was very packed and didn't feel very intimate.

Seriously, the BEST steak I've ever had!

I went there for my birthday dinner and when we arrived they had birthday confetti on the table and a birthday card from the restaurant, nice touch. I had the Ruth classic which came with a petit sirloin with shrimp on top, a side,a salad and dessert for like 40 something dollars. It was well worth it! The ceasar salad was delicious. The steak was so juicy and tender it just melts in the mouth, and the garlic butter sauce that its cooked in is amazing! You don't even need any A1 sauce. Even the shrimp was the best I ever ate. Very tender and seasoned perfectly. My dad ordered the t-bone which was huge.  I ordered the mashed potatoes side which we didn't really like, it was a little plain. But the green beans and garlic side was very good and the sweet potato side dish.....omg, let me tell you we all ate that so quick! Service was great, our waiters were very friendly. They brought out a cake and sang a birthday song. Excellent service, very delicious food, I will be back!

My fiance and I ate here for the first time a few months ago.  Obviously I've heard of Ruth Chris before and was expecting a great experience overall.

We were greated kindly at the hostess stand and they had a table reserved for us which was nice.

I did not like the layout of the restaurant it felt kind of like a cafeteria with nice table clothes, the seating just wasn't very private or intimate.

Well I would say the experience was mediocre at best.  I got a filet with some shirmp on the side and my finace got a filet with some sort of topping. We got some sides I don't remember what they were as they weren't very memorable.

We started with an appetizer I dont remeber what it was because it honestly was not impressive at all.

When we sat down there were some crumbs on our table and the wine glasses had some water marks on them.  Typically little things like this don't bother me, but with the price and well established company name I expected perfection.

After we ate our crumbly bread I would have thought the server would have used their crumber to clean off the table, but nope that never happened until we were completely finished with our entrees.

I gave this 3 stars because the filets where pretty good definitely not the best I've ever had, but also no where near the worse.

So with all that being said I'll never go back to Ruth Chris again unless I have no say in the matter.

    Best steak of my life.

Seriously.  Where do they get their meat from?!

Dinner here was absurdly good.  I got the filet with scallops on top.  Nice!  I have had better scallops, but the steak was so freakin good it didn't even matter.  Side of creamed spinach delish.  Lobster bisque?  Holy goodness, so yum.  Oh.. did I mention a whiskey bread pudding for dessert?  Oh, I didn't?  Well... they do have it even if not on the menu and it is ridiculous.  Do yourself a favor and get it even if you are full - it is huge and you will have leftovers that may be even better the next day.

Other things to be noted:  Service was GREAT!  Our water was so friendly and took care of us like we were the only people in the restaurant (I assure you we weren't, very busy that night).   The drinks were delish, but no cocktail menu (hey, I'm a girl.. I love cocktail menus).  Also, valet only.. but you expected that at a steak house, right?  Bring cash for a valet tip.

5 star reviews are rare for me, but this Ruth's Chris location gets one.

Tonight was our four year anniversary so I made a reservation on their site. One of the questions was if the meal was a special event with a choice of birthday, anniversary or other. I chose anniversary.

We arrived and discovered that a quiet table was waiting for us with a bed of rose petals and a happy anniversary card from the staff.

We both order the filet meal, which included a salad and a side. Our filet's were perfectly cooked and everything was simply delish. Our waiter was attentive and we waited for nothing.

Another surprise at the end of the dinner was a free dessert with happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. It likely would have been an expensive dessert, but it did not appear on the check.

I have always loved Ruth's Chris for random nights out, but this will now be our special occasions restaurant, too.

I usually stay away from chain restaurants because most of them don't have the ambiance or the personal touch to the food they are serving. Ruth Chris on Federal isn't that much of an exception with regards to the ambiance or the personal touch, but where they are an exception is in the quality, taste and flavor of the food served.

Ruth Chris claims to sear their meat at 1,800 degrees and serve it at 500. Possibly the magic of the rich delicious meat flavor is in the 1,800 degree searing, which is a technique difficult to reproduce in the home. Everyone at my table ordered their steaks done different, such as in medium, medium rare & etc. I order mine Pittsburgh and was pleased that the waiter knew exactly what that meant and took my order with so much of even raising an eyebrow. Each of our steaks were served perfectly as order, all were of top quality meat as well as delicious; totally rich in meat flavor. For sides, which by the way were each at an extra charge, I had the baked potato and the creamed spinach. Not much I can say about a mundane baked potato but there is a lot I can say about their creamed spinach. It was just about the best, most flavorful creamed spinach I've ever had.

The dinning area, even though recently redone is rather noisy and to my eye lacking in character. Though the tables are elegantly set, the linen table cloth perfect, it still had that chainy restaurant feeling to it which is something that its competitors such, as Mortons and Capital Grill, seem to have overcome.

Though the food really was five stars in flavor and quality, and because I can't really say I'm a fan of the place, I'll compromise it at four stars as it really was excellent.

My boyfriend of 5 years made reservations probably 2-3 days in advance. We did not get the time we wanted but we were fine with that. We got there a few minutes early, we were seated immediately.

They served warm bread and water immediately. We did wait a few minutes before our waitress came and took our order.

She thought we were married so she addressed us as Mr. and Mrs....... I quickly corrected her but I loved the idea that she knew our names.

Anyways, I ordered the lobster bisque. My boyfried ordered the cajun style soup. I had the medillion and shrimp entree and my boyfriend ordered the steak and lobster. Our sides were mushroom and cream spinach - delicious.

For dessert, we shared  a creme brulee and we each had a cappucino.

It was the perfect valentine's dinner. The food was delicious, the service and the ambiance, you could not ask for more.

The steaks were very good (though I asked for medium and mine came out bloody and looking more like medium rare-- but I decided I was OK with it because I didn't want to send it back). I had the filet, and I preferred its to my date's steak (though they were both very good). The hearts of palm and asparagus salad was also delish.

The only major let-down was the mashed potatoes- they were runny and just not very flavorful. The creamed spinach was also just decent, but not great.

The atmosphere inside was pretty boring too and not much to look at.

I must forewarn you, I am not impressed with a beautiful atmosphere, foaming drinks, or three Rolls Royce's parked out front of a restaurant. I would prefer to eat in a hole in the wall that serves amazing food than a beach front hot spot with chewy steak and bland potatoes.

Having said that, I introduce you to my favorite restaurant in Miami: Ruth's Cris Steakhouse.

Ambiance: As old school as you get. White linens, candlelit, middle of the gables, much older crowd, quiet atmosphere. Definitely a spot for a romantic date or business lunch.

Parking: Great location right next to a very abundant metered parking lot. Make sure to bring quarters.

Service: The best service I have received in Miami. Very in-obstructive, minimalist approach. If you prefer 10 waiters to serve on you hand and foot, go to IL Gambiano, but if you prefer to enjoy your conservation, the amazing food, and never wonder why your drink isn't being refilled: Go to Ruth's Cris.

Room for improvement: The lobster bisque was awful, too much port. Free parking is always nice, at least complimentary valet. The decor is bland. The bread pudding doesn't measure up to the one served at Nordstrom's Bistro.

Food: While everything else can be debatable, one thing stands the test of time: the Filet Mignon at Ruth's Cris is the most tender, consistent, and tasty slice of meat in Miami. I am a ribeye guy through and through, and this steak blows every ribeye I've ever had out of the water.

How tender? I pull it apart with my fork.

I have never tasted a more hearty, delicious, and melt in your mouth piece of beef in my life.

You can get it topped with a Bleu Cheese crust, but I feel it makes it just a bit too salty. If you would like to try it, have them place it on the side for you.

What I will recommend is eating it with the Potatoes Au Gratin. Thinly sliced potatoes baked in an oven layered with several different kinds of cheeses, creates a crust of carbs that devours any and all hunger pangs you may have experienced.

Layering a thin slice of steak with the cheesey potatoes on your fork, creates a bite-size morsel of heaven. I struggle to finish the whole thing.

But finish you must, because waiting for you is arguably the best dessert Miami has to offer.

I have literally waited half an hour for my stomach to stop hating me and allow the cheesey, potatoey, beefiness to subside in my belly so I could fathom ordering my favorite dessert in Miami: Homemade Cheesecake

Every other cheesecake in Miami is sliced off a pie that, if you're lucky was baked the same day. Ruth's Cris hand crushes graham crackers to make you the most flakey, fall apart crust, you have ever experienced. They fill that crust with the creamiest, fluffiest, and meltiest cheesecake filling I have ever tasted.

And they don't just give you a slice, they give you the whole pie. Granted, the pie is designed for two people (about 10 inches), but it's a nice touch letting you know this dessert was made just for you.

And just so you don't feel guilty about eating so many sins of pleasure- they top it off with three Maraschino Cherries. You know. For your daily serving of fruit, you fat bastard.

This is one of hubby's favorite spots for a nice dinner so, when we decided to have a "date" we chose this location. As usual, it was amazing. We were seated immediately in a very nice spot and we had RONDA COOK as our most gracious, attentive, nice and wonderful server. The boys that were helping with the bread, water and food were wonderful too.

I started my meal with their unforgettable Lobster Bisque. To my dismay, it wasn't hot at all. I felt bad complaining so soon but Ronda was extremely nice about it, took the bowl back without an attitude (like in other places) and brought me back the most delicious hot bowl of soup...mmmmm...I enjoyed it to the last drop. Hubby had the escargots in garlic sauce and they were delcious as well. For our meal hubby ordered the rib eye (of course, what else) and I ordered, to Ronda's suggestion, the crab cakes and, let me tell you...OMG they were OUTSTANDING. We were both extremely happy and satisfied with our evening at Ruth Chris....as always!

I read the reviews prior to going. I wasn't expecting a mind blowing experience just a steak specialist! They gave me exactly what I expected for a little more than I was wishing to pay for. The name has an awesome history as was worth the experience. I went for Valentines Day and my girlfriend liked the service, food, and professionalism. Server was nice. Don't set the bar too high on this Ruth Chris and you will have a nice time too.

I have been to Ruth Chris in Chicago so I knew it would be good.  We went for my boyfriend's birthday when we were visiting and overall we had a great time.  The service was amazing and the food was prepared perfectly.  It is expensive but they offer a fixed price three course menu which is awesome!  I would suggest going here.

we went here for a girls night out. there was free valet, which is convenient, considering the parking lot is hard to access.

we came here, because they were having a prix fixed menu deal, salad, entree with veggies, and dessert for one great low price...

to start, I had the caesar salad. nice taste, and the anchovies were definitely in the salad.

I ordered the lamb chops, which comes serves with the mint jelly that people like so much, but i'm not a fan. The lamb chop was good. i wouldn't call it the best i've ever had, but if I were craving it and happened to be at this restaurant, I would order it again. The veggies that came along with my entree, though, were cold, so that was a downer.

We had the chocolate mousse afterwards, and it was great! soo rich and creamy, but not overbearing, and very enjoyable. i would come back just for the dessert.

this is a good steakhouse, I can see why people frequent it. i'm just not one of them, given a choice of the many non-chain places, i like to root for the underdog.

When this menu deal comes back around, I'm sure I could be persuaded into coming back.

I went with couple of my girlfriends last year for Valentine's day. I ordered prime rib steak and it was delicious.  As a side I had mashed potatoes, which were delish, and steamed veggies.....that dissapointed me a bit due to the fact that they served it cold. I cannot stand cold steamed veggies, no taste nor texture for me. I was not a huge fan of anchovies on my salad but salad was great. Chocolate mousse was soooo good, I might have licked the plate at the end so I could try to keep as much of that flavor in my mouth as possible.

Sure, I'm reviewing a chain restaurant, but our New Year's Eve dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House was one of the best NYE dinners I've ever had!

Our server's name was Jayden, and he was a muscle-bound body builder guy w/ spikey hair and a perma tan.  Welcome to South Florida!  He even made a comment about having bigger forearms than my dad's head.  Ha!  Stereotypes aside, he was professional and great at his job, explaining everything and considering the little things like whether or not my mom wanted actual anchovies on top of her caesar salad.

The rib eye I had was AMAZING!  Steaks come on a hot plate at Ruth's Chris, which keeps your food warm right up until the last bite.  Also, the meat was all buttery.  Drool factory.  Sides were excellent (potatoes au gratin, garlic whipped potates, asparagus, creamed spinach), and the Cabernet  we were sipping on was sublime.

At the end of the meal, the hostess ladies called us a van cab to take us back to the hotel marina.

Our party was in excellent shape after dinner, so that we could celebrate 2010 on happy, full stomachs.  Ruth's Chris - I love you!

This place was off the hook! (do people still say that?)

I've never been to RCSH before, but I had heard good things about them.  Make no mistake about it, I knew I was under-dressed when we pulled up and they had valet parking only.  I was "that guy" with jeans and sneakers on, and I was the only person in the place with either.

The dinner and service were equally outstanding.  Our server, (Pam) did an excellent job and she was attentive and professional.  The staff worked well together as a team, I was amazed at their efficiency throughout the dining area.

I ordered a fillet and it was one of the best tasting steaks I've ever eaten.

    A+++

    They changed their menu :-(

Okay - so I think I'm the only person in this planet that goes to a steakhouse for fish (every time I go). Not a big deal, since most highend steakhouses usually have good fish. Well, let's just say the first time i had a tuna steak it was at this Ruth Chris, and I loved it so much, it is just about the only thing I order whenever I go out to a nice dinner.

I was so excited to have that delicious steak this past saturday only to be 10000% disappointed when it was a few overcooked pieces of tuna with tons of crab meat on top. No biggie, maybe I orderd the wrong one (I thought), so I changed my order to the appetizer tuna - BAD. Not bad as in don't order it, more like bad as in - it still wasn't what I remembered or wanted. By this point everyone is enjoying their meal and I was hungry, so I just ate it. But I was completely disappointed.

Add to that, that my hubs wanted a cut of meat they didn't even have on the menu and it's pretty common - Prime Rib - that was unexpected. he settled for the Rib Eye - which was good, but not what he originally wanted.

Their cream of spinach is always good, the sweet potato suffle was delicious - especially if you combine both. I had the bread pudding dessert, and my hubs who doesn't like chocolate, liked the chocolate mouse thingy he got.

In all, I don't really think I'll be returning to Ruth Chris by choice or request. If that's where the family is celebrating, I'll deal, but I don't like steak, and I don't want to go eat chicken... guess I'll try another fish.

Oh - don't want to leave on a sour note so I'll add that the pomegranite martini was great!!!

Where else can you get a great steak in the Ft. Lauderdale area? Every time I come to Ruth's Chris, the steak is cooked to perfection! The crazy part is (maybe I'm from NY) I didn't think it was too expensive?!?!

I ordered standard fare, Filet cut, salad with Blue Cheese and Creamed Spinach with no desert, under 50 bucks?

I have never wanted to eat here. That old phrase, "Don't judge a book by its cover" completely didn't apply for me. The name Ruth and steak didn't appeal to me. (I apologize to anyone named Ruth, it's not that I don't like the name). And I had this impression that the interior would be dated, dark, brown.
We got a gift certificate in the mail for $50 at Ruth's. Well, you can't pass up a discount on steak so we went.
Reservation did exactly that, reserved us a table, we were seated with out a wait.
Bread was warm with delicious butter. Yeah.
Wine list was good, ordered a shiraz that came recommended with a filet. It was delicious. (I have a terrible tendency to forget what wine I order, apologies!)
Ordered a baby arugula salad with crumbled bacon, egg and a vinagrette, a medium filet and a side of creamed spinach.
I will eat one  of these steaks any time it is welcomed. My filet arrived on a sizzling plate of butter. Each bite I cut I drenched each side in butter. Each bite then melted on my tongue. I knew I shouldn't have eaten as much as I did but c'mon! It's mouth watering filet.
Our server was prompt and attentive.
But the decor, I might have to agree with C.P. here. It was dated, old, not very appealing. Thankfully the food made me forget about it. Though it seemed appropriate that a man with a great mustache walked in looking just like the late Robert Goule.
Dessert was a miss. Chocolate and espresso cake, good but I've had better. I would probably take another steak, a smaller one!
Yes, I would return here but I'd have to get another 'discount'...I do care what my surroundings are like, preferably not dating itself 25-30 years.

I always wanted to try out Ruth's Cris but I wasn't sure if I would like a steak cooked in butter. Well, this experience proved me wrong. I totally enjoyed my experience at this restaurant while on a work trip.  Once again, I ordered my black n blue porterhouse w/ a side of asparagus and bernaise sauce. The steak came out perfectly dark on the outside and rare on the inside. Just the way I like it.
Make sure to come here on an empty stomach.

All I can say is: This is one hell of a chain!

I've been to other locations, but I particularly liked this one.  Let me start with the very unique 'Oysters Rockefeller" - wonderful.  Moving on to the steak house salad with the incredible blue cheese dressing.  Then the tender fillet that was like "butter".  I couldn't believe we had room to split a dessert- but the "Chocolate Sin Cake"  could not be resisted.  And yes, it was sinful.

While I wouldn't rate this chain's Ft. Lauderdale locale as a world class restaurant by any means, it is the best steakhouse in Broward County and thus gets its 5 stars from me. Having sampled Ruth's Chris's in several states, this one is amongst my favorites, perhaps partly due to the dearth of close competitors in the area. This Ruth's Chris's has a large space with good, knowledge service, a wine list that is a bit pricey for domestic selections, but some reasonable gems for those who love their European wines, or who are daring enough to leave their comfort zones and try some.

But, the real reason to eat here is because of the insanely decadent food. Basically, the Ruth's Chris creedo is "butter is better," which while it won't help your waistline, will deliver a scrumptious meal. The lobser bisque is fabulous, as is the insanely rich bone-in ribeye which is, of course, cooked at butter at tempatures in excess of 1200 degrees. Even the 'girly' cheese-stuffed chicken is great.
