My wife and I had just moved back to Long Beach and checked out this bar after dinner Saturday night. Was thoroughly impressed. We had been in when ownership was changed before but it's previous name escapes me.

My wife had a Moscow Mule. Copper mug and all. Proper portions of vodka, lime, & ginger beer.

The drinks were killer and both bartenders were really knowledgeable and friendly. Glad the place changed, the atmosphere was really lively too. One of the nicer dive bars in Long Beach. Great way to end a night.

Visiting my cousins in Long Beach from the east coast.  They said one place to come drink at was the Stache Bar on a Saturday.  We arrived and to this little bar (compared to what I'm used to on the East). The drinks are on point at this place!! The bartenders looking like they are having the time of their lives and not skipping a beat to serve.  The coolest thing, was the DJ, the dude was on FIRE! I had never heard anything like it. From Jazz, to hip hop, to funk, to 80s, even punk rock, this guy made ears drunk.  Thanks for the music lesson.  Till this point I had never bought a Dj drinks, I think I bought him 4, Keep doing what your doing DJ Manny Moonshine. "I LOVE CALI IN THE SUMMER TIME!  PEACE FROM THE EAST!

The old fashioned is made well and isn't too sweet, in addition, the barkeep is attentive and pleasant!  Chill little divey bar.

My favorite bar in Long Beach!  Came here with a group of friends one Friday for happy hour, and we had a blast!

They make a really amazing Moscow mule with TIto's vodka and homemade ginger beer that I cannot get enough of. It's refreshing and minty and zingy!

The waitress was really sweet, and worked hard to serve us, even admiring our mustache earrings that we had bought to wear especially for this occasion.  I wish I remembered her name so that I could give her props.

We got hungry and ordered delicious pizza from Milana's, and we also got to play Connect Four. What's not to love about The Stache?

Decided to take my girlfriend here after reading all of the positive reviews. It is a tad hard to find a bar in long beach that isn't full of itself.

The place was a tad crowded as it was Saturday but the bartenders were really attentive and alert. While it was busy, it took no longer than a minute or two for them to check up on me. Even as a first time customer I had no problem opening up a tab . The prices were cheap ! I paid $41 for 5 shots and 2 craft beers! The salt for the tequila shots is delicious, and i have no idea what it was called but the silver organic tequila is so smooth !!!!! One thing though I DID NOT like the Moscow Mule. Tasted way too awkward for me i gave it to one of my drunk friends.

The ambience was fun. And everyone there was having a good time. People singing along to warren g and dancing. I really enjoyed coming here and everyone was polite. The pool table was a plus too.

Will definitely  come here when I'm in the neighborhood.

Are you looking for a bar where the bartenders don't just make Jack & Cokes? Well hold onto your seat, Buckaroo! I've got the perfect place for you; you guessed it, this here bar - The Stache. Hallelujah! If you haven't had the pleasure of relaxing after a hard day at work, by work I mean goofing off online for 6+ hours, with a delicious Old Fashioned why then, Buddy, you haven't lived. The bar has a quality selection of liquor. Did you want an 18 year Jameson? They have it. How about a Jefferson Rye? They have it. Or...slow down, Bud. You get the point. The drinks run $8. $8!?! In Long Beach!?! Well, you have to pay for quality, my friends. A Tecate is cheap but you get what you pay for.
What would I change about The Stache? The jukebox. A classy joint needs a good ol' fashioned jukebox with hand-selected tunes. Nobody wants to listen to LMFAO when they're trying to enjoy a Manhattan.

Great "mixology" type drinks with a good, low key atmosphere. Unfortunately, the bartender seemed annoyed when we ordered drinks that required some work, even though it was a Thursday night and the bar was mostly empty. But even though they were made with disdain, they tasted awesome. The prices were reasonable too.

Nice, nonassuming door on the side of the road, attached to an unnoticeable building.....just the way I like my dive bars.   You enter and you are in another world.  In fact, walking in from a bright sunny day your eyes have to adjust to see who and what is in here.

Decor is dark, with pin up style art (girls have moustaches), the bar is long and the drinks shelves are a long wooden moustache.  I like it empty, as there were only three of us mid afternoon.  The bartender was conversational and very friendly.

    Another good hang out spot.

Soccer was on.  Even better. The icing on the stach...I mean cake!

The crowd was young and hip. For a bar I would say that the size is decent, not to big not too small. The selection looked great and the service was very friendly. I love that they have craft drinks!

I did not get to stay long but from what I got while being there I would want to try this place again. Compared to other bars I've been to in LB it was different. Not completely sure if its good in a bad or good way yet. But the drinks were decently priced so I shall be back.

I tried and I tried but I just can't find a single thing to like about this place.  I hate to dock anyone points for trying to promote "craft" cocktails, but there's nothing craft about this bar.  I would venture to say they're doing harm to the craft cocktail movement by lower Long Beach's already low standards for what a good cocktail is.

First thing to not like about this place is the price.  Drinks are way more expensive than any other bar on 4th Street.  Oh, it's because they use higher quality ingredients and spend more time on making your drinks?  Nah, sorry, that's bullshit.  A Dark N' Stormy is not made with spiced rum at all, and using Sailor Jerry is just adding insult to an $8 price tag.

Second thing is the atmosphere.  Craft cocktail bars should be inviting and softly lit, this place is poorly decorated and smells like cigarette smoke most of the time.

Third and most important thing is the drinks.  I've never had a drink here that I'd consider properly made or decent.  On a quiet night, we ended up getting Moscow Mules that might as well not have had any vodka in it at all (I watched the bartender make it).  It doesn't help that their ginger beer is boring and lacks and semblance of spice.  I ordered an Old Fashioned which tops the list of worst cocktails I've ever had at a bar.  Pop quiz time!  If you put sugar and water in a glass and mix them for 10 seconds, what do you get?  The correct answer is: water with a pile of sugar at the bottom.  If I'm paying a heavy premium for you to "craft" a simple thing like an Old Fashioned for me, and you're too lazy to properly muddle sugar and water into a solution, then just make some god damn simple syrup and use that instead of giving me a crappy cocktail.

When I read that the Stache had organic, craft drinks as a specialty, I was expecting a price tag of $12-14 a pop. Instead...$8! This alone, along with the quality of said drinks (as explained by my friend; I was DD), is enough to give this place high marks.

But added to that, the Stache also had really friendly and attentive service, a great jukebox (that people were singing along to, truly!), cool patrons, and good ambience.  I really couldn't have asked for more, and I'll be back!

Moons ago, the Stache was known as Club Cheri.  Back in those days, the Club Cheri was the diviest bar located anywhere in Long Beach.  I might venture to say that it was so divy that Navy men and women would not frequent the establishment.  In 2011, the Stache was transformed into a clean well managed place that specializes in upscale refreshments at a very attractive price.  Some of the locals here in Long Beach like to keep this place as a secret so that it does not become crowded.  Soo, if I could go on the Yelp website and erase some of the positive reviews, I would ..... Ya that means your review Mike K !!!!

In all sincerity, a great place to go .... And for all you ladies out there, the Stache has a bunch of Horrible Rotten Bad Guys (HRBG's) that show up regularly...  These guys are so horrible, rotten and bad that I can't even begin to tell you (Website etiquette of course).  Just show up a little skanky and you will see what I mean.

Attention bar goers that do NOT want to visit a typical bar-- DON'T go to the STACHE!!  This bar will blow you away with its drink menu alone-- cool bartenders and a really chill layout provide the best place to grab a unique cocktail!!  Of course you can grab your typical drink-- but you would be missing out on the specialty drinks they serve!!
Cool local brews on tap that really make this bar unique!!  Flat screen TVs to satisfy your sports hunger and the location is right in the heart of the 4th street vibe--Come in and grab a great drink or beer and tell them "MIKE on YELP sent me"!!  You will get a $1.00 off your 1st cocktail or beer!!

I really appreciate all day happy hour on Mondays: $2.50 wells, $5 cocktails. They make their own ginger beer and utilize legitimate spirits in their cocktails. My favorites include the Moscow Mule (in copper mug), Old Fashioned, and the Manhattan. They also have a decent beers on draft. There's always a rotating brew from Beechwood Brewing that's usually delicious and affordable. Crowd is pretty chill on weekdays. Weekends can get crowded, but never ratchet. They have one pool table which is usually occupied, but patrons are often friendly when it comes to sharing. Overall, a great place to spend your evening.

This place is awesome and tickles my mustache......btw Christina, the bartender, makes an amazing out of this world Sazerac!!! Order it and prepare yourself for a delicious adventure!

    What they've got :
Craft and historical craft drinks speak to Stache's classiness and quality
Awesome regulars and a stellar, friendly staff give it the unassuming dive bar feel.
An overall atmosphere that instantly converts first-timers into regulars
Awesome dive-bar prices for hotel-bar drinks
A Fan Following....a huge one... because they damn-well deserve it.
An extensive offering of whiskey for those who like to expand their horizons

    What they're not:
A place where you'll ever have a bad nights
A bar where you'll wait more than 7 minutes for a drink, even on the busiest nights.
A watering hole that'll remind you of some other place... Stache' is one-of-a-kind
A stop to be missed - If you're in Long Beach - Local or Tourist, this is a MUST!

    Why They Rock:
Nate can make you the off-menu "Long Beach Mule", it's X-Mas in July in a Cup.
Christina can mix you up a Sazerac with an extra Absinthe splash ( 'like mike gets' )
Brett's around to be thanked for giving Long Beach such a stellar place to enjoy...
Mike's around to make sure you behave (cause the drinks'll get you riled up)!

    Why you fail:
If you're reading this, it means you haven't gone yet, you're missing out, and your life is less awesome than it could be.  Sure, it's 'just a bar'... only its not. So turn off the screen and head over already!  When you realize how much better off you are now, you can then buy me that drink you feel so compelled to thank me with for convincing you to head over and check Stache out.  You're welcome in advance.

I'm almost scared to reveal how fun this dive is, guys!
A few friends and me went to this dive for my birthday. What a blast!
Great drink prices, great drinks! The mint julip was strong and delicious
From what I can recall, the DJ played some pretty cool soul dance party hits and a lot of Michael Jackson  (This was a Saturday night).
Anyway, the room was full and everyone was on their feet getting down. I can't wait to go again and see what's going on other nights. See you there maybe!?

This is my new favorite LB bar! It's a small, local joint. I've been here a few times and everytime I've enjoyed wonderful company, great drinks, and exceptional service. The classics: Old Fashioned, Manhattan are nice and stiff. Moscow Mule is good too and Primm's Cooler is very refreshing. I also tried their blackberry whiskey, goes down smooth. My friends tried a couple of beers which they enjoyed too.

The staff are all super friendly. Brett and Fernando are awesome! Will def be back.

I've been here a few times, even before when it was cheapshots with different owners and had a lounge feel, I'm talking years ago.

Now it's the Stache, its a good bar, just needs to fix their keg system, the tubes or something because some of the beer tastes really weird, but this review isn't about how great the bar is, its about a Sunday evening when I went to the bar and I didn't like what I saw, that one of their bartenders did.

I went to meet some buddies for a few beers, we sat against the wall on one of those little round tables, enjoying our low grade beers

    and

the white scene girl bartender after playing pool with some customer and two of her friends or whatnot, started wrestling on the floor with one of her friends for a while, like who does that where they work?

Keep that at home, or on your time off, not in a place of business. Don't Wrestle in front of the customers, granted I know its not a top notch five star restaurant and its a Dive Bar, but still it's the concept of it and its a place of employment, your actions reflect on the establishment and on the owner/s.

I'm a firm believer that the employees represent their business that they work for,
It really gives the bar a very bad image especially horse playing in the middle of the bar during business hours with customers sitting on the bar, tables etc,. I doubt those people saw what was going on right behind them. Sure I may be over reacting but I left with a bad taste in my mouth after seeing that and just shaking my head all the way home, I for one wouldn't stand for it if it was my business.

    Cheers.

Very cool spot. Moscow Mules are a specialty and they were quite tasty, though I don't have anything to compare it to since it was my first. Strong drinks though.

It's definitely a place for locals, which I am not, but everyone was very friendly. My roommate and I played pool and a small little tournament broke out. I even won my first two games! Surprising since I don't usually play.

Bartenders and all the staff are super nice. A few of them were there on their day off to hang out. Seems like everyone is close there. Could be a nice little dive to call home.

Overall, great for a chill night of strong drinks, a little bit of sport, and talking to new people.

    Picture this:

It's Monday night, you just finished an eleven hour shift at your extremely respectable and badass job- I dunno, professional mountain climbing. You just flew back in from the Himalayas, your head is hurting hard from all that altitude pressure and you just want a drink- But shoot, man, you only have four bucks on you and there's a ten dollar credit card minimum at this sweet looking dive bar you just walked into!

But it's going to be okay. Why? You just walked into the Stache on 4th Street and you're about to get hooked up with a well whiskey drink for $2.50, (that leaves you with some tip money, sucka!), from a friendly bartender who will let you sample some of their delicious ginger beer they use to make their rocking Moscow Mules.

After you get your drink, you notice how mellow it is at this hole-in-the-wall compared to the other romp fests located on 4th street. You pat yourself on the back for making a good decision.

I wish I lived closer to the Stache because it has everything I look for in a good neighborhood bar: friendly bartenders, awesome selection, strong and tasty cocktails, and the kind of ambiance that states, rather emphatically, "Awesome day?  Shitty day?  We feel you.  Have a seat."

The Stache is clean, spacious but not big, with good lighting.  (As I get older, I appreciate good lighting more and more.)  Our bartender this past Saturday evening was really cool, friendly and low-key.  I loved the Old Fashioned she made, with its block of ice and dark red cherry.  My friend's Flavor Saver was a floral vodka cocktail that made her drunk quite quickly.  Each cocktail was $8.

By the way, the only thing you would find at a bar in my neck of the woods for $8 is a Diet Coke.  Or maybe a kick in the face.

Later on, we got shots of the bartender's recommended whiskey, Buffalo Trace Distillery's Sazerac Rye.  It was spicy and smooth with a vanilla aroma.  It was delish.  I love it when people know what they're talking about.  So refreshing.

I'm hesitant to write a review -- this is the kind of place everyone will surely like.  And.. If it begins to get too popular.. Well, there goes my secret spot.

This place is the perfect bar.  It's modern, clean, and has a mixed audience, so you won't feel out of place.  They serve a wide variety of beverages, from typical beers, to microbrews, to cocktails.

Here's the only down side.. and it's at no fault of anyone's, so I'm sticking to a 5 star rating.  The place gets busy on the weekends.  And it gets LOUD.  And PACKED.  But then again, IT'S THE WEEKEND.  So, yeah.. If you plan on bringing a date here on Friday or Saturday, don't plan on talking much to her, because you won't hear a damn thing she says over the noise.

The staff is AWESOME.  Nice, friendly, and attentive if you're in need of another drink.

This is a quintessential dive bar. It's got a pool table, jukebox, and no windows. They make some classic cocktails, I opted for an old fashioned which was a good but not great (in all fairness I did just come home from Cole's in LA who probably makes the  finest classic cocktails in all of Southern California). The homemade ginger beer was too sweet and left my girlfriend unimpressed with her Moscow Mule. Nice selection of brews including plenty from California which rules.

They have some awesome drink specials, if you like them on FB they post their specials.

Overall what else can I say? Awesome happy hour prices, lots of booze and no windows! It's a dive bar in Long Beach and I'm pretty sure I'll be back again.

I might as well grow a stache since this will be one of my watering holes in long beach from now on.
This bar really pulls a good one on you. The look of the outside and the neighborhood its located in make you think you're not in for much. I stood outside holding the door handle and asked myself "do I really wanna see what's inside?" Thank the liquor gods I said yes because I found the best dive bar ever.
First, the bar tender was just bubbly and inviting. She didn't say no to any request I made and she seemed genuinely happy to serve everyone in there. Secondly, she made some bomb drinks. At what price? $2.50 for well drinks during happy hour, there's no other way to put it but "you can't funk with that".
I just recommend this place to anyone looking to drink good.

Whaaaaaaa?! For a bar with what is quite possibly the dumbest name ever, The Stache is pretty rad.

Upsides: friendly service, strong and ridiculously cheap drinks (4 whiskey waters for 12 dollars!), clean bathrooms, ample seating, takes cards (only debits with a 10-dollar minimum, which is still good)

Downsides: really creepy dudes who lurk near the pool table by the bathroom waiting for women to walk by so they can do the "hey baby" look....leaving me to curse my tiny peanut bladder. bad jukebox selection unless you want to listen to top 40 music of the 90s and beyonce's shrill voice belting out "single ladies" all night (don't hate me for hating beyonce). wish they also had a bigger beer selection, but what they have is alrite

I'll definitely be back, even though saying "meet me at the stache" makes me wince a little bit.

Not crazy about the name of the joint but...
There weren't as many hipsters at this bar, like I had originally envisioned there to be.
I kinda pictured a lot of malnourished, sweaty geeks wearing frayed skinny jean-shorts, and tank tops, and of course topped off with a thick ass stache.

Great dive bar by our house, love that there are organic cocktails.
The Moscow Mule was tasty, and so was the Pimm's Cooler.
Will be coming back to The Stache very soon.

can I give a bar 1000 stars, because I would for the Stache!

First of all, the lady working behind that bar on the Friday we stopped by to check it out was so great!! She was sooo friendly and kept making some delicious drinks (thanks for the hangover!)

The drinks, oh my god the drinks! So good!
I started with the vodka Mule and fell inlove instantly. It was soooooo very good. I haven't stopped telling people about it!

The old fashion will put hair on any lady's chest. It is STRONG, but delicious. I felt very Mad Men-ish. I actually order this for the bf, because I was afraid of how strong it was!

I can't remember all the other drink we tried, except the Dark and Stormy.. I think that was the one that sealed the deal for me! All the drinks were so good and creative!

I can not wait to go back, seriously. I mean it! This place is the best!!

A few weeks ago decided to go bar hopping in LB and randomly found this hidden gem. This is a new bar that just open last year. Its a small bar has only one pool table. This bar is supposed to be 1920's themed but the only thing that looks 1920's in this bar are the bartenders. Also the bar has a huge Stache on top this is a really cute bar. The first time I came here there were drink specials $3 mixed drinks and then the next time i came ther were no specials so i don't know when they have their specials. They do have a DJ who plays old school music. Overall this is a classy dive bar in LB.

    -Cheap drinks
    -No cover

"Men always talk about the most important things to perfect strangers. In the perfect stranger we perceive man himself; the image of a God is not disguised by resemblances to an uncle or doubts of wisdom of a mustache."- Gilbert K. Chesterton

Went to 'Stache Bar for my friend Alex's 31st birthday.  Brett also had a birthday there.  I know this only because I saw his name on a cake.  So, fuck Denny's- this is the place to go for your birthday.  Alas there is no free Grand Slam, but I got some birthday cake.  Thanks, Brett.  Obviously I cannot guarantee free cake if you go.  Unless you count urinal cake.  Chances are you don't count urinal cake.  It's not very fun- when you count them, you rarely get past one.  Two, if you're lucky.  Then, in Yakov Smirnoff voice: "What a country!"

But, yes, free cake because the THREE bartenders there were super nice, like "sitcom" nice, like "they should have their show on FOX about their adventures in a magical car" nice.  In fact, so nice that when I called the next day to see if I had left my wallet there (it was actually under my bed?!), one of three Christina (the prettiest of the three, but to their credit the other two lacked female parts) totally remembered me, even though I barely said anything to her beyond "another crodka and vanberry please".

Maybe it takes three bartenders because they take a little time making their signature cocktails.  It's like a Food Network show.  I had a Moscow Mule.  Sure, the cold copper cup was rustic and cute, the ginger beer was flavorful, and the excess mint reminded me of a bowl of pho, but to me personally it was a novelty, worth trying once.  I just need a lime or umbrella to make my drink "fancy", so after one signature cocktail ($7), I had about 9 vodka cranberries because they were only $3.  It just made more sense drunkomically.

    Cheers.

Changing their name from Cheapshots to The Stache Bar is a blatant come-on for mustache aficionados. I mean, come on. Really?

Of COURSE I was gonna come check it out. Anyone who knows me knows I appreciate a good luxurious 'stache, because I sadly cannot grow more than a thin sad plot of facial hair on my upper lip. The whole Movember charity thing is basically a slap in the face of people as follicularly challenged as myself.

But hey, at least I can head on over to the Stache Bar and drown my sorrows in a copper mug of Moscow Mule - with housemade ginger beer to boot! Truthfully, this drink was just 'aight, but at least their specialty cocktail menu is relatively decently priced at $7 each. They do have a decent beer selection for such a small bar, and it's not as divey as it seems from drive-bys. I don't mean that there are drive-by shootings, I mean, it kinda seems like a dive from the outside from when I drove past it, but it's not. It's actually pretty  I should probably learn to clarify myself further.

Anyway, Stache is a good laid-back alternative to some of the other bars in the area, but it undoubtedly gets crowded on weekend nights. But for a random Tuesday birthday celebration, it gets the job done, complete with birthday board games and birthday shots. Also, you can remove the word birthday from that sentence, and it will be just as truthful, as I'm sure they serve shots and have board games even if it is not, in fact, your birthday, or even a random Tuesday.

This place is not too flashy or fancy but it sure is fun. I accompanied my sister and some of her friends here for her birthday, and at first glance it seemed like any other hole in the wall bar, but Stache is so much more. They have a kick ass selection of whiskey drinks, great juke box, a pool table, dart board, great service, and wait for it......BOARD EFFING GAMES. I love board games, and Yelpers love board games, so this place should do just fine, at least among Yelpers.

P.S. Jenga and Connect four are a lot more difficult after a couple of their whiskey drinks.

Yeah, yeah. The mustache is the most overdone motif since sparrow, actually, since the skull. But what can I say? I drove by this place a million times when it used to be a little sports bar called Cheapshots, but when I saw the new bright red sign shining like a mustache beacon in the night, well, it worked on me.

You've got a pool table, a jukebox... maybe darts. It's all getting a bit fuzzy. There are two main things you need to know about The Stache though:

    1. Board Games.
    2. Whiskey.

What a beautiful combo those two make. They have loads of games behind the bar, just ask the friendly bartenders and you'll be whiskey-deep in a Connect Four tournament before you know it. Sure, all bars have whiskey, but there are surprisingly few bars in Long Beach who make a good ol' fashioned Old Fashioned. Or Moscow Mule. Or Pimm's Cup. Or whatever you may be craving.

Luckily The Stache is here to (semi) fill that void. Okay, so it's not 7 Grand or The Association, but in a town of all dives and strong vodka-sodas, it's refreshing to have a place with nice-ish cocktails at a decent price. They make their own ginger beer too. I liked it just fine, but some said it was too gingery.

Anyhow, the price for beers and wells is super low. And even for their specialty cocktails - $7 isn't half bad. My drink of choice for the night was the Pimm's Cooler, it's different than a Pimm's Cup in... well, a way that I can't even begin to tell you because frankly after two of those the night was a blur. But I do know it was one delicious beverage. And one helluva night at The Stache.

I can definitely see myself spending some more nights here with Connect Four tournaments in the very near future.
