    Awesome speakeasy type of place.

This is an awesome low key, quite, amazing place for drinks. The bar tenders are outstanding. If they offer the flight of home made drinks GET IT.

    Simply come and enjoy.

Very good cocktails, GREAT atmosphere, friendly staff, lots of visual interest but it is not full of itself. It gets a real mix of patrons which I love, and you get the feeling you could just as easily be part of a noir murder mystery scene or a chatty neighborhood spot known only to locals. It's cool without trying too hard. The chairs kinda suck. At the times of the week I go to bars it has never been crowded.

Great little eclectic bar. The drinks are excellent. Make sure you ask the bartender to make a drink of their choice tell him the type of liquor you want for your base and if you wanted sweet spicy or if you want to add anything else to make your specialized drink. They do a fantastic job. Don't forget to try their own brand of gin. Fairly priced and worth the trip to Cap Hill.

Atmosphere is perfect for a casual night out and the drinks are mixed perfectly! It's nice and cozy on a dreary winter night. Will be going back here and recommending it to friends too.

This place was great. Wonderful and interesting cocktails, cool vibe. I really enjoyed our time here. It was pretty empty when we got there but it definitely filled up fast! My fiance, sister, and I had a great time. I'd come back!

My two favorite Seattle bartendes, Eli and Ted, make this spot a must go to on the hill. Both mix excellent drinks. All scratch, many invented on the spot.

And while the drinks are a stand out, the place doesn't make a half bad burger either.

This was always the best place on the planet.  Like, so good you don't want to review it on Yelp because you don't want it to be more crowded.  But, then I totally misbehaved the other night and Ms. C. - the greatest tender on the planet - was as skilled with her cutting-off-of-the-me as she is in mixing amazing drinks (sorry!)

Plus, amazing music in the ether there.

this bar is situated a couple blocks off the beaten path in a quiet residential area and i really liked my drink. sadly, i couldn't get my friends to meet me there and had to leave to meet them elsewhere. i'll be back the next time i'm in seattle though...

OMG, I think I've died and gone to heaven.  This bar rocks!  I wish it were near where I lived.  Actually, maybe it's better that I don't live near this bar, because I'd want to go here everyday.

The decor is so cool, and the music they play even cooler.  The bartenders totally know what they are doing, and everything is fresh, home made, tasty.

This is my "go-to bar" whenever I'm in Seattle!!

Stopped in here for a quick drink before seeing a movie at the theatre down the street. Really great vibe and interesting menu of cocktails. My wife and I enjoyed our drinks. I was particularly happy to find a mezcal-based cocktail that wasn't just "margarita with mezcal."

This might be years of paying Washington, DC prices, but I also thought $9-11 for a craft cocktail was a great price.

Oh, and the bartender was able to make me a vieux carre immediately upon request. Tremendous!

Really cute bar in Capitol Hill. I think this would be a good first date place. The bartenders are friendly and the cocktails are reasonably priced and taste good not cheap or too sugary.

Are you looking for a place to partay, meet some hot chicks, and drown yourself in vodka tonics? THEN DO NOT COME HERE. Seriously.

This place is for enjoying classic cocktails involving high-quality booze, freshly-squeezed juices, and optionally some hand-crafted bitters. This is a place for reading a book, chatting with a friend, or just existing. This is a place where you know the bartender because they are an interesting person, not because they're going to get you soooooo wasted.

I have been coming to Sun for 5 years now and love this place so much that I actually lived within a half-block of it for a majority of those years so that I could stop by whenever I wanted. I regret that I don't live as close now, but my wallet is probably thankful for that. I love you, Sun.

Not sure if my tastebuds weren't working well or the drinks just weren't my type, neither of my friend's and my own didn't appeal to me at all. Maybe I should have stick to something simpler instead of ordering a cocktail. The ambiance was good. Had weird Chinese vibe to it but overall, it was at a good location - not too busy, not too secluded - and the prices of the drinks weren't bad. Because of the overall reputation and my not-yet-fully-developed tastebuds for hard liquor or mixed drinks (I still don't like mixed drinks much), I will be back here next time I visit Seattle.

Have loved this little place for 3 years now, can't believe I haven't written a review!

Simple cocktails/complex cocktails/beer/wine - they do a great job. Everything is yummy, but if you aren't super into something, take it back up and they'll give you something new. Another thing I love about this place is I can walk up and say "I want something with gin that is peach colored and tasted like rainbows" and they'll give me it. I'd give 5 stars if some things weren't so pricey (literally my only complaint). I appreciate the care put into each drink, and the friendliness of the bartenders. They really seem to be enjoying what they do!

I really enjoyed Sun Liquor.  It came highly recommended from a couple of friends, and I was glad to finally have the time to check it out.  When it gets crowded, the service is pretty slow --- this is frustrating if you end up missing the final happy hour round because you're waiting in line.  The reason it is slow, however, is a good one.  The bartender squeezing fresh fruit juice for every cocktail is time consuming and a lot of work - but you really can taste the difference.  I typically think of myself as a "beer" guy - and if not, I often drink red wine or scotch/whiskey.  Still, there is a lot to be said for the art of a great cocktail, and at Sun Liquor they really know how to do it well.

Ahh, Sun Liquor, the SL Distillery's darker, handsomer, older brother, just come home from college and making all the young girls swoon. Personally, I live closer to the SLD, and I am a sucker for their blue cheese burger, cozy patio, and excellent Pimm's cup. However, I would not turn up my nose at a swanky evening at the Summit half of this dynamic duo... just let me take off the jaunty sailor cap and slip into my slinky cocktail dress.

Crowded all the time, there is a REASON for that!!

They're drinks are hard and to the core/ If they had a secret back room for mafia members, I wouldn't be all too amazed. It's just one of those dim bars you see in German films and perhaps will see someone from "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" movie.

Although not a fan of blue cheese, their blue cheese and bacon burger is pretty good. The most impressive trait about this bar is that they made their own bitters. They are all situated at the back of the bar. I have tried and few and to be honest, they taste like any other I've tasted.

Again, like The Lookout, it is hidden away from the main bars so there is less of a crowd, but by word of mouth, this is a commonly known bar that people enjoy.

Sun Liquor is seriously the home of the best in-house made vodka, and the absolute very best handcrafted cocktails... with fresh squeezed juice mind you. And the fresh squeezed isn't just a marketing tactic, they squeeze it fresh at the bar! WOW.

Their "famous" for their Mai Thai, and while it is delicious, I usually stray and go for the Seasonal Buck. It's mouth-watering citrus goodness.

    I say try:
    1. Seasonal Buck
    2. Satan's Whiskers
    3. Mai Thai

OH, and how could I forget, THEY HAVE FOOD TOO!
You can't go wrong with their blue cheese and bacon burger, or their BLT!

You can also buy bottles of their liquor to take home too!

Very chill place to get some drinks. I liked the 70s style Enter The Dragon decor; kind of boudoir meets pub. Tucked away a few minutes walk from the bustle of Broadway.

Definitely a small neighborhood bar...good luck with finding parking. My boyfriend and I have attempted to go here many many times...but always give up because we can't find parking. Then finally...one Sunday night, the stars aligned and we found a spot right in front of the bar. We asked for their 2 most popular drinks -- which I can't remember the names of...but they were good! It's a very chill, low-key place. Not sure if I would come again simply because finding parking was a hassle but if I lived in the area or happen to get lucky again....

Adorable little place with a list of artisan cocktails to knock your socks off. I prefer the Scarlet Lady (gin, lemon juice, HOUSE-MADE grenadine, & champagne), but my friends sampled everything from the Pimm's Cup to the Kentucky Cardinal (bourbon, lillet, house-made pineapple sage shrub & peychaud's bitters). In case you can't tell, Sun Liquor makes their own bitters. Just look in the glass refrigerator in the middle, behind the bar. You'll see a bunch of little bottles that look like potions and no doubt contain liquids that are mysteriously delicious as anything a witch or wizard might whip up.

My friends and I had a group of 9 or 10 and managed to snag a bunch of little tables in one corner, but we were lucky. This is a place meant for smaller groups...like a romantic one-on-one.

BEST EGGNOG IN TOWN!!!! No drink has ever given me a ratatouille moment as much as a drink at this bar did!!!
Don't know about the better half of the year but if you are in town for holiday season, Sun Liquor is the place to be! My husband and I ended up going in at a good time to just try a glass and ended up having 4 glasses between the 2 of us.
The drink has heavy cream and almost tastes like a yummy milkshake. Its addicting, making you want more.
They have their holiday special only 2 days a year on Christmas eve and Christmas day. They open their doors at 5pm to a line of people waiting for it so make sure you make it in before 10pm to get your fix!!! We also tried the buttery rum and preakness, both of which were very good!
I know where I'm going to be eggnogin on Christmas from now on!

Best cocktail place I've ever been to and also the most randomly located. It's in the middle of a neighborhood. On the walk there, I felt like we were looking for a potluck rather than a bar.

I don't know that much about liquor (at least not yet) so just let the bartender know what your tastes are and he or she will design a drink just for you. I wanted rum so the bartender made me a Royal Bermuda Yacht Club which might be the longest / fruitiest / delicious drink I've ever had.

We went here for a nightcap.  The place was half full and there was one bartender who was so busy it took several minutes before we were acknowledged.  Then we both ordered Pims cups and they were not made right and not good (we drink these all the time here, and in London).  We would have asked her to remake them, but some friends texted us to join them at the Rock Box, so we left.

The place was dark, service was slow, and the drink not very good.  Not a terrible experience, but as the rating says, "Meh.  I've experienced better."

I don't often drink Sazeracs. I forget about them. For some reason in different bars, or with different bartenders, I tend to order the same thing over and over. For example I will order a Absolut Mandarin Red Bull at Capitol Club, without even thinking about it. It's just what I get there, for no good reason. At Coterie Room I get a Vieux Carré. Habit I guess.

At Sun Liquor I don't have a regular drink, I take forever trying to figure out what I want, and end up ordering whatever the bartender suggests (usually delicious). So maybe I'll just get into the habit of ordering Sazeracs there. Sounds like a plan.

I am a fan of Tiki Drink, and myself collect tiki mugs.
In generally, drinks are great, fresh and don't taste alcoholic much.
To some level, it could be little stronger, but ... oh well, I am pretty happy and wasted once I walked out.

One of my favorite small bars in Seattle. I will go up to Cap Hill just for this.

Dark, small with a little red glow, it is a perfect for an intimate get away on a cold evening.

The drinks are good, nothing crazy and foodie, but always well executed. With a nice concise list that should have something for everyone. One of the few places I trust the bartenders to just make me something to fit my mood.

Coupled with Summit Public HOuse and Top Pot, this is my favorite hidden corner of Cap Hill

You'll find Sun Liquor right next to the original Top Pot donuts on Summit.

The decor at Sun Liquor is right out of Shanghai in the 1930s.  Its an atmospheric place with a long bar, old cane furniture, gilded gold and tarnished edges.

The drinks, on the other hand, are strictly 2012, with homemade syrups, flavored bitters, and made with distilled in-house vodka and gin with botanicals.

    A great low-key spot.

What's so different about Sun Liquor versus other bars? They make their own syrups and "toppers" that are made with real fruit (not the canned stuff)...these are only a few of the items they make in-house to ensure maximum quality.

Their drinks are a true masterpiece both in flavor and presentation. One of my favorite guilty pleasures at restaurants and bars alike, is sitting at the "cook line" to admire the chefs practice their craft. I sat at the bar at Sun Liquor and watched the bartender squeeze a multitude of fresh citrus for varying cocktails, dance while shaking drinks, all while smiling and topping these drinks with fresh sliced fruits and veggies. Another thing I noticed, the bartenders actually taste test the drinks before they go out. I'm a big fan of that. Chefs do it, bartenders should always do this as well... but it seems not many out there do anymore.

I'm not a huge fan of bloody marys from bars, simply put they use mixes that are either too heavy on the black pepper or too heavy on tabasco and not much else. Sun Liquor's bloody mary mix is made in house, and let me say, the BEST i've ever had. The flavors layered, and complimentary and unlike any bloody mary out there... a hint of horseradish, olive brine, a little spicy and oh so right.  Thick and flavorful, topped with a fresh cucumber slice and large plump olives. Perfection.

The ambiance is comfy, and the subdued lighting makes it a relaxing neighborhood spot to go have drinks with friends. The parking is horrendous in this part of town, I recommend walking or bus there especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The drinks are worth it.

It was St. Patrick's Day and my friend and I were searching for bars that didn't have obnoxious fake holiday amateurs. We came to Sun Liquor, their big neon sign lighting the way, relieved it was practically dead. Whew.

I would have a more precise description of Sun Liquor layout and look if it wasn't so damn dark. That would be my biggest complaint. I couldn't see anything! What am I in? A haunted house?

We took a booth and browsed the menus. There are separate menus for beer, cocktails, and wine. We were ready to head up to the bar to order when a cheerful waitresses came to us and took our order. Table service is much appreciated. I decided to be semi-fancy and ordered a Sangria with red wine. Soon enough our drinks arrived and my sangria was okay. Nothing to rave about but wasn't so horrible I couldn't finish it.

As the night continued the bar filled with a mix of hipsters, yuppies, and the rowdy St. Patrick's Day crowd we were determined to outrun. In addition the overpowering smell of liquor signaled it was time to go. If you can believe it by the time we left it was even darker inside than it was when we first arrived. I couldn't even read the bill!

Overall, I thought Sun Liquor was fine. My experience was lessened due to the crowd but that is certainly not Sun Liquors fault. I would like to stop by again during the day to be surrounded by light. I do like being able to see.

I like you, Sun Liquor. You make me want to be a better person, drink classier beverages, and learn to talk like a lady. But I won't. So instead I'll keep dreaming big, ordering your delicious fresh squeezed Greyhounds, and swearing in front of small children.

Your bathrooms are also really clean and I think that's wonderful.

*I would somehow figure out how to give a 6th star if you had tasty snacks inside of your bar.

If I lived in Seattle, I'd probably make Sun Liquor a second home.  It's everything I love in a bar: awesome, friendly, knowledgeable bartender (thanks, Eric!); low-key environs that don't require any dressing up; chill patrons all holding conversations with their little groups; and of course, stellar cocktails.

I started off with a peaty whiskey drink that wasn't too sweet - it's the first time I'd ever had a Bobby Burns.  I'll definitely be looking up the recipe for my personal home use - with Bénédictine and sweet vermouth, it's right up my alley.  Classic cocktails are also solidly reliable, as indicated by my fine Vieux Carré.

Although they reportedly don't have a Kold Draft ice machine, expertly-managed cube molds adequately make up for the lack of obscenely expensive equipment.  Which is just another reason to adore this joint -- it might not be glamorous, but it more than gets the job done.

Another nifty saloon in Seattle serving up those boutique cocktails that seem to be all the rage these days.

Upon hearing my pals wanted to take me to a place called Sun Liquor, I wondered if we'd traded in our night of well-crafted libations for slugging bottles of Popov in a seedy back alley. But to my surprise, Sun Liquor isn't a corner store at all - it's a dive bar serving up some mean drinks that can go toe-to-toe with any place on the west coast.

They have all of the ingredients you'd come to expect at bars that are cut from similar cloth. Egg whites, tropical fruits, independent gins you've never heard of before, and bartenders sporting attire that falls somewhere between the fold of a '20s hob-nobber and a dirty hipster straight off the floor of an American Apparel store. Rather predictable, but Sun Liquor has a different vibe and the drinks aren't nearly as expensive as other spots mixin' the same canned heat.

It's in a semi-quiet neighborhood, so don't act like a total asshole on the way out or you'll wake the residents. Pull up your pants and behave like a man upon exit, mmm K?

WTF?  I haven't reviewed Sun Liquor yet?  Time to correct that oversight.  What can I add to the 100+ 5-star reviews?  Nothing really, except my own glowing praise and a few recommendations.

I love their sidecar.  I love their margarita.  I love their old fashioned.  When it's chilly out I love their Sun Cider (Tuaca, brandy, lemon, hot apple cider and a cinnamon stick).  I love just about any drink I order here, but when I visit I make sure to order something that requires fresh ingredients--because that is what Sun Liquor is all about.

This is a fantastic place to bring a date.  It's cozy, dark and intimate.  It can get a little loud on occasion, but that's just a good reason to scooch closer!

This place will get you laid! (no guarantees.)

Perfect date spot if you can find parking that is. I really mean that. It is almost impossible to find parking here on friday or saturday. Midweek or sunday it's not too bad.

The decor is on point. It's really cozy, meaning small, so it naturally brings people together. Also it's pretty dim, which makes you want to lean in when you talk. The bartenders are all pretty chill from what I've experienced. I heard they make some mean cocktails, but I'm more of a beer drinker, and I haven't been disappointed in their collection of beers either. It also doesn't hurt they are located right next to Top Pot, so you can always duck over for one of those heavenly donuts.

To recap: Bring date here, smooth talk, nice cocktails, get lucky!

I ordered a glass of Rioja and practically got the bottle. $7 bones, friends.. 7 bones!

Lovely little place. I step on in and it makes me feel like I'm back in 1955.. I think. I really have no idea what cute little bars back in the 50's looked like.. but I hope they went a little somethin' like Sun Liquor.

Delightful staff. The drinks are good.

Some places are best described quite simply as 'sweet'.. This is definitely one of them.

You walk in after a tough one, pull up a stool and the bartender smiles.

I sit down by myself as I wait for a friend, and the room is quiet.

Then a guy sitting two bar stools down asks, "So who's the quiet guy who just ruined that inappropriate conversation we were having?"

Then everyone in the room laughs!

There is a energy that pulses through this place on a daily basis. The people here talk to each other... they smile, they strike up the conversation without any awkwardness and life breathes forward.

It's been my long held belief that this place must have contained some great love in the past that still echoes through time, because it radiates through the room. There is a joy here, a friendliness... and you know what? It's the perfect nightcap every single time!
