Great Thai food!
This place is right by my apartment so I thought I'd try it out today. Great lunch special from 11-3. For $5.99 you get an appetizer and entree. The crab rangoons were good but it's hard to mess up deep fried cream cheese. The pad Thai had a good flavor, consistency, and spice but the chicken that came with it was super dry and bland.
Because of the location and price I'll be back to try other menu items.
One of the few places in Chicago that has a parking lot so that's nice. Also byob.
I used to love Thai Aroma...but then it got shut down by the department of health for code violations. Since I've been back I've seen the quality go down fast--the chicken is sub-par, the pad thai had a lemon on top (not a lime) and the noodles are always greasier than they used to be. I really hope they go back to paying attention to detail the way they used to, instead of focusing on opening more store fronts.
Review Source:Thai Aroma is a great place to go out for some decent, well priced Thai if you live right down the street. Â The flavors are all there, and the decor is slightly modern enough to be pleasant. Â There is nothing here that I would say distinguishes itself from other typical Thai fare, and so I can't really recommend it for being just pretty good Thai to get if you're in the area. Â I have a friend who lives a block away and we usually end up getting take out or go to sit in here, and its been consistently pretty good. Â I really enjoy they're Bam-ee noodle and the Aroma noodle special. Â My friend is a vegetarian and ordered the Vegetable curry noodle dish and it was a bit soupy. Â The egg rolls are not really worth mentioning, and the golden wings were just fine. Â The crab Rangoon we're as good as crab Rangoon get. Â If you're looking for something special, look elsewhere, friends.
