So when I had friends who lived in the Promenade I did come here a lot more often. I'm a bit farther away now, but still love to swing by here from time to time. Its hidden away in the Promenade apartment complex and not very easily found from the street. I am glad that they've managed to stay in business, even being in such off the beaten path location. Â As others have mentioned, Stephanie is awesome. Shas a very impressive knowledge of wines and knows their wine list in and out. Their happy hour is a great deals, a Tue - Thurs a selection of wines for $5 and on Mondays 1/2 any of their open wines by the glass. In addition to a great wine list, they also have a selection of cheese and meat boards that are well suited for pairings with the wine. The list may seem to be a bit short, but they frequently change them out for new selections. Plus its nice not to be overwhelmed with dozens and dozens of options. The atmosphere is quite cozy and relaxed. I love how it is a independent, non-chain wine bar in the middle of Mission Valley. Great spot to meet friends, take a date, or just swing by on your way home from work!
Review Source:Great find! Quaint, comfortable and friendly - the perfect after work hang out. Somewhat off the beaten track, but easy to find and access. The owner (Stephanie) is friendly and accomodating. Wine list is very nice, with daily happy hour specials. Food/snacks are available, and are tasty and well priced. On Wednesday, she brings in a Food Truck and that adds to the fun. Highly recommended.
Review Source:We've been meaning to check this place out for two years and finally got the chance last week on my mom's birthday. Â We had a couple of hours to kill before our dinner reservation at Cucina Urbana, so we stopped in for happy hour.
The place is darling. Dark woods, candles on the tables, and rich, embroidered curtains create an intimate vibe. Stephanie (the owner?) told us about the happy hour wines ($5 a pour) and brought a round of waters. The non-happy-hour wines are priced between $8 and $12 a glass. They also have bottled beers.
Wi-fi is available, so we got on our laptops and caught up on emails. A musician was setting up in the corner when we left. Looks like they have live music most nights at 7pm. The also serve a handful of appetizers. On a couple nights during the week there is a food truck outside that you can order food from.
Overall, a nice place to hang out for a glass of wine before dinner!
This place was... interesting. Â I think it was probably a combination of a lot of strange circumstances, Â so maybe I'd come again at a different time or on a different night to give this place another go. Â There was a one man show this past Saturday, and he was rather... unique. Â Nothing bad to say, but it just didn't seem to fit the venue or the crowd. Â There was some kind of meetup event going on at the bar as well, so the crowd seemed very random, age-wise and otherwise, and it was pretty noisy and difficult to find a table or bar space at first. Â Imagining it on a more normal day, I can see it having a relaxing, social ambiance. Â The brie and caramelized onions plate was pretty good. Â Their cabernet was nice- the merlot was so-so, but those things will vary over time. Â I imagine this place must be a great little spot for residents of the Promenade complex to which it's attached. Â I'd give 5 stars for the top-notch service- the bartenders were working very hard, were very attentive and pleasant, and the host at the door was very amiable and helpful. Â 3 stars for now for the overall experience... but with potential for revisiting. Â They had posted a page of events going on for the rest of the month which sounded interesting, so the revisit has potential for happening sooner than later. Â :)
Review Source:Trisler's is  a great little wine bar.....not a noisy, crazy place but rather one where you can sip and chat, chat and sip.  The owner, Stephanie, is very attentive and will make helpful recommendations when you are not sure of what wine to order.  We are not wine affectionados, so one night she suggested a pinot noir that we would otherwise not have tried, which turned out to be very good.  And three or four times a month, she has gourmet food trucks park in front of the place for a couple of hours where you can order delicious food, take into the Wine Bar, order a nice glass of wine (or a beer), and enjoy a nice little meal with your wine.  Great neighborhood gathering place!!!
Review Source:I used to visit Trisler's all the time when I lived in the Promenade Rio Vista apartment complex (where the bar is located ... couldn't beat the trip home). Â Now it's a bit more out of the way, but still very much worth the trip.
The ambiance is cozy and intimate, and both the patrons and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.  You can stop in by yourself for a glass of wine, and end up with a new group of friends (and I tend to be on the shy side!).  Admittedly if it's packed the service can be a little slow, but don't get your britches in a bunch.  They are not ignoring you, so take a load off, relax a little, stop and smell the rosés.
While the wine list might appear a bit limited for a wine bar (roughly 10 each of red and white), the selection is rotated frequently, so if you visit Trisler's often you'll have plenty of opportunity to try many different wines. Â At first glance the prices appear to be on the more expensive side (usually about $8-10 per glass, though they do sometimes have specials), but the pours are very generous, so it all evens out in the end.
One of the things that actually keeps me coming back is the cheese platter. Â I love ordering it as a meal to go with my wine. Â It always has toasted baguette slices, crackers, a selection of three cheeses, sliced salami, nuts, grapes, and dried fruit (usually some combination of dates, apricots, and/or dried cranberries), and has sometimes had apple slices and olives. Â I actually like that it isn't the same every time I order it; it's sort of like playing dinner roulette, but I enjoy being surprised. Â I suppose a picky eater might want to verify what they're going to get, but I've never had a platter there that I haven't loved. Â (As far as size goes, when I'm by myself I get the small; my husband and I will split the medium.)
Amidst the cookie-cutter chain store wilderness that is Mission Valley, Trisler's is truly a hidden gem.
What a hidden little Gem. I am almost afraid to share it. I think it's going to be one of my new favorite spots. I met a friend here the other night for a drink , the waitress was very sweet and helpful with her recommendations. The crowd was mixed , the atmosphere was nice not to loud or overbearing. We will diffidently be back!!
Review Source:Steph is so nice and always has a good selection of wines.  If you don't know what you're in the mood to drink she'll make sure you end up with something great.  The ambiance is great and it's  the perfect place to have a good conversation with someone you know or many that you don't since during the week you have a lot of the people that live in the apartments upstairs stopping in to do the same thing you're doing.  Great spot that's always good times and she has some good wine snacks to go with your glass... or bottle.  Usually live music on Thursday evenings.
Review Source:Great ambiance, attended a work "Happy Hour" tonight second annual, not sure why I don't visit Trisler's more often. Â Good selection of wine, the owner is personable and provides very good snacky food. Â This may sound strange, here goes, a nice clean restroom. Â This is an important, it this is important to the owner, then they must be looking after many other details for our health expierence.
Review Source:just ok... wine selection is average at best. Â i was sitting next to the kitchen, ordered the brie and carmelized onions - if i had to guess, it was pre-packaged as I heard the microwave being used... gross ! the cheese was so melted and rubbery. Â i would only recommend this place for a glass of wine and thats about it...
Review Source:Very nice Ambiance. Â Went in the other night while waiting for my furniture to be delivered. Â It was very relaxing. Â For a Wine Bar, I thought there would be a greater selection, but they seem to focus on quality, not quantity and everything was totally affordable. Â I really enjoyed myself. Â I could see this being a place I could come to once a week after work for a nice glass of wine to get out of the apartment for a while. Â I can't wait to try the brie there. Â If they had just a wee bit more in the way of selection, I would give this place 5 stars even though I have only been there once.
Review Source:I love this Mission Valley gem, and have been here many times over the past many years. Â It is quaint and relaxing. Â The owner, her staff and the mix of patrons are always friendly. Â They play music on Thursdays a couple times a month, which is a really good way to keep things interesting there. They have a fun mix of appetizers that you typically don't see at other wine bars: pate, spicy bean and cheese dip, tapenade, warm artichoke dip, etc.
I'm a big Cabernet fan and I mostly ask for a Cabernet they recommend. Â I'm never disappointed. Â The giant fountain splashing outside makes for a nice touch to put you in the mood as you walk in. Â
You can park around the fountain or underneath the building in the visitor parking for no charge.
Though small in size and selection, Trisler's is a nice little place to relax with a little something to eat (don't come if you're starved). There was some cool things that I liked and some not so cool things, but overall the experience there was really great.
Though there is not too many wine selections and some of the specific listed wines types were not available, I still like that they keep it simple with at least one bottle in the type of wine enjoyed the best. I had the cab and it was yummy and peppery, just as I like it. It was something from the Paso Robles area that I've never heard of, but it hit the spot (as most Paso wines do). I also like the fact that the appetizer menu is simple, with great items to match delicious wines.
A not-so-favorite item, which is actually huge and almost made me take another star was the restroom situation. There is only one, so it's shared with the ladies and gentlemen. That, in itself, is not too bad, but then there are signs that read that absolutely no paper can go in the toilet bowl! Then there is a push-in type bin across the way from the toilet bowl and I was just terrified to touch it since there were smears of everyone's who-knows-what all over the can. My imagination got away with me and I left the restroom with the heebie-geebies. It reads that the toilet is sensitive, but unless the Promenade is just a fancy facade without too much substance underneath, then I would recommend they update that area stat! Also, I would like to see an expanded dessert menu. It reads that they have desserts, but there is nothing to look off of. Plus, the dessert we got was good, but tasted a little stale.
It's pretty small and located on the right hand side of the roundabout as you enter the Promenade Apartment complex (if you've gone to the market, you've gone too far).
Pretty cool wine bar in the middle of an apartment complex. Â 5 star everything, except for the selection. Â It's a wine bar, but has like, 10 red, and 10 white? Â Seems a bit on the small side for a WINE BAR, being that a non-wine bar has lists much longer than that.
Anyway, everything is great. Prices are moderate. Service is friendly.
I like good quality red wine. I like nice people and delicious morsels of good quality food. I like hidden treasures in obscure locations. I like nice hideouts for taking my friends to relax with me.
This is an excellent place to decompress after a long day's work. It's elegant and clean. Gentle and relaxing. The owner puts her heart and soul into her business like it's her evolving work of art. She thinks through many small details to elevate and polish the pleasure of being here. Everyone who has served me or waited on me here has been as kind, relaxed, and as genuinely friendly as the owner.
They are all good listeners, knowledgeable, and are good at guiding you to the wine you will like most. Indeed, this is a place for drinking nice wine.
If you want to eat, drink and be merry, go ahead and finish the bottle. You can leave your car and take the trolley home. There's a trolley stop right outside the door next to the river.
A+
A hidden gem. It's definitely not off the beaten path but that's what I love about it! No fuss just great wine, apps, people and ambiance.. I mean, isnt that what you look for in a Wine bar? I prefer the wine selection here then anywhere else. Never disappoints and your bound to see one of the owners there on any day, which adds a warm personal touch. I'm a happy customer!
Review Source:Hubby and I came here with his good friend this evening. Â I made a pretty large advancement in school today, so we figured why not celebrate and really enjoy ourselves? Â So we did!
We did a bottle of Moscato Allegro, which was a DELICIOUS slightly sparkling white wine. Â Wow! Â It was so smooth and sweet. Â It didn't even feel like drinking wine until I was on my 3rd top-off. Â And it was only $25 for the bottle, which was a perfect amount for the three of us to share. Â We also did the petite cheese platter, minus the meat. Â There were two very delicious cheeses, crackers, bread, a small assortment of nuts, rasins, grapes, and olives. Â The only thing we didn't chow down on were the olives since none of us are fans of them. Â Very delicious though!
It's a really cute little atmosphere, very clean, and just really nice overall. Â You can come here alone, with your spouse, or a group. Â It's just a really nice place to go to for some good wine and relaxation. Â Everyone there was very friendly and very attentive. Â We felt very comfortable the entire time that we were there.
Plus, it's only a 7-10 minute walk from my front door. Â I like it!
Came to Trisler's Wine Bar with some friends and it was pretty nice. The place isn't very big but it's very cozy inside. We came here and were probably the youngest people by 20 years. There was live music which was pretty good and the wine was tasty. The wait staff was really helpful and quick to ask if anything was needed even in a crowded room. Overall a nice place to come too.
Review Source:Place is pretty chill with a good wine selection by the glass. Would have rated higher if the food had been better. The parking is a little challenging, with few spots in the small cul-de-sac adjacent to the bar.
Overall, not bad, but certainly not the best wine bar in San Diego. Improve the food, and I would give four stars.
Cozy, little hidden wine bar in the Mission Valley. It's exactly where it is on the map, but when you turn into the street, it looks like you are entering an apartment complex. Yes...enter here and go down past the 18 or so speed bumps and the wine bar will be on the right.
I needed to find a wine bar nearby since I just had some crappy chardonnay wine from Seau's. Yah yah I know...why did I get wine from a sports bar? Lessons learned, moving on. But this place is cool, Stephanie, the wine lady was super cool, and was awesome with the customers, both the newbies and the regulars.
She recommended the Saint George Chardonnay from the Central Coast. Ah definitely hit the spot. Totally wiped away the crappy chard I had earlier. Very nice, very soothing. It was only $5 a gas.
Though, I just missed happy hour, ended at 7pm, there was still some pretty decent wine at a reasonable price. Next, I went with something sweet, more like a riesling, and she recommended Dr. Loosen riesling from Germnay. Again, another good decent wine, nice, slightly aromatic, slightly citric flavor with a hint of apricots.
Decor is cool, nice bar area, some tables, and a couple of sofas. Definitely a cool spot to hang out for a nice bottle. Smoke outside if you want. Nice clean bathroom too, smelled like potpourri.
Located in the Promenade Apartment complex, this place is a little known secret! Â The ambiance is wonderful, and they have a wonderful wine selection. Â The bar is more low key, so don't come expecting a party, but a great place to have good conversation, good food, and good wine. Â The owner is very nice, and she always puts a water bowl out front for our furry friends. Â
I highly recommend this place.
This little wine bar, tucked into an apartment complex in Mission Valley, is one of my favorite hang outs. Â The wine bar boasts a very nice wine list. The wines carried here are boutique wines that are not commonly found in stores. There is usually a selection of around 15 whites and 15 reds. The atmosphere of the bar is very cozy and comfortable and the people that hang out at the bar are some of the friendliest people I've met. Â A great place for meeting friendly people. Â I'll have to admit, another reason I like this wine bar is that the bar is in my apartment complex (Promenade Rio Vista), making for an easy trip home.
Food wise, the bar has a good selection of light appetizers. The artichoke dip and bean dip are two of my favorites. Â The brie with caramelized onions is also a crowd favorite. Â They also have a couple of varieties of meat and cheese plates. Â Another cool thing is that they just recently started carrying a selection of delicious bundt cakes for dessert. Â
Trisler's also has live music. Â The guitarist Hank Easton normally plays on Thursday nights. Â Saturdays rotates among a bunch of acts including the likes of Keith Jacobson (sax), Steve Wolff (guitar), Naomi (sax, vocal) and Mesa Blue (band).
Great place to stop by every so often. Trisler's main competition is the liquor store right next to it. With the economy the way it is it's really easy to just buy a bottle for $10 instead of spending $30-$40 at Trislers. That said, it's a very nice place with great wine selection and food pairings. They also have live music every so often and that draws in a good crowd of locals that live at the Promenade.
Review Source:I recently returned to Trislers recently as I was running other errands in the area. Â For a wine bar hidden in an apartment complex, it was pretty happening. Â It seems like those who live in the complex have kind of turned this into their home bar. Â I walked in by myself and took a seat at the bar, waiting for my boyfriend to arrive. Â The bar was freezing cold, but luckily I had a sweater. Â The owner was friendly and we chatted for a while , while I perused the wine menu. Â Apparently the menu changes regularly. Â I chose a zinfandel that sounded good, but they happened to be out of the very wine I wanted. Â I explained what I wanted and the owner let me taste a couple of wines. Â Finally, having made my choice, Trisler's proved to be a nice spot to sit and talk. Â My boyfriend finished his wine quite a bit sooner than I did, and the owner gave him an extra few splashes of wine for free so I didn't have to drink alone.
Keep in mind that this bar typically closes early. Â If I could change one thing, it would probably be the to lower the air-conditioning.
I've been to Trisler's once or twice and always had an enjoyable time. Nice wine selection, we enjoyed the edaname and cheese plate.
Our only complaint would be that the music on both nights was too loud; we almost had to sit on each others laps to have a conversation.
Overall we had a good time. We look forward to visiting the wine bar again; maybe on some night without the live music.
I joined a group of girls for a glass of wine at this cute little wine bar. Â It's located in a retail area of an apartment complex in Mission Valley. Â (weird, I know...) Â Anyway, Trisler's is a small, casual, cozy spot to enjoy some good conversation. Â The Happy Hour wine list has a nice selection. Â We ordered the cheese plate - all the girls enjoyed it - one girl almost put the brie in her purse (I won't mention any names, Elena) Â The service was good too. Â I would certainly go back.
Review Source:Tucked away in a fancy schmancy apartment complex in Mission Valley this place could be over looked. Went there with a group of girls and enjoyed a nice couple of glasses of Happy Hour sparking wine. Nice atmosphere. Quaint. Small. $5 happy hour special on certain wines. Had the brie and caramelized onion(I seriously wanted to high jack the whole wheel, it was damn good) Also had the medium size imported cheese plate. Pretty good offering of old stinky cheese, apricots, crackers, lil bread loaf, and some meat. Very good deal compared to some of the cheese plates I have encountered around town. Just give me a cheese log, a knife and some crackers and I am satisfied. Great place. I will definitely go back and get my own wheel of brie.
Review Source:I went here last night for the first time and felt like I was walking into someone's living room! I mean this in a good way, it's a very cozy place. They have a pretty extensive wine menu and a good happy hour (I 4-7 daily I think). It's odd that it's actually in an apartment complex, and you have to park across the street in the mall. Also, they had a really good guitarist when I was there and for once, it was just the right volume!
Review Source:While I was on work travel, my company put my up in a place near Mission Valley, which is how I stumbled upon Trisler's Wine Bar. I really enjoyed stopping in here: the wines were great, the service was very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines, and the atmosphere was really casual. I like wine, but I'm always wary of wine places that have a lot of attitude. Trisler's was nothing of the sort: both staff and patrons were friendly and easy going. The environment is fairly relaxing: it's pretty quiet/chill most of the time I've stopped in, but I do know they have live music on some nights.
Back home in DC and Virginia, most bars are required by law to serve food, so I was rather surprised to find a wine bar that really just does wine. (I actually like that bars can just be bars and don't have to divert attention to food if they choose not to.) You can't get a full meal here, but there are some light fare items on the menu, like a cheese platter.
If I find myself on work travel in San Diego again, I will be stopping by Trisler's again to have a glass of wine to wind down my work day.
Trislers is a great little wine bar. The owner regularly updates the wine list with wines from many regions, including Australia, Argentina, Spain, and of course local wines. She always can recommend something for your tastes, which I think shows are real passion for wine and there is always the opportunity to taste before you take the leap.
The wine by the glass is quite generous in size and the prices range from $8-14 for a glass. The food is finger food, so don't expect a 3 course meal here. However saying that, I can recommend the meat platter, cheese platter, and artichoke dip. A few of my favorites.
Thursday night has live music by a regular singer/guitarist and he plays laid back style music and the occasional blues track. It gets busy on the Thursday, and being a small establishment I would recommend getting there before 6pm.
I am becoming a regular visitor to Trislers and I enjoy the atmosphere, the people, wine.
Love this place - wine selection is really good as are the cheese platters. Bruce, your host, Â keeps it fun and interesting if you want to break out of your tasting rut too. Recommended if you are in Mission Valley area and need to beat a retreat in the late afternoon from traffic, office, shopping, whatever....
