was in town to see family friend play for DU. Had a great time with bartender named Matt. Â He went above and beyond the call of duty, made quite an impression on all the members of my party. Â Its always great to entertain and made to feel like a rock Star, Matt (don't know his last name) was the man and I would recommend all visitors and Denver elite to stop in at Viewhouse and party with Matt.
Review Source:I am from Pa. and was in Denver on business for a few days the week of September 16. I decided to catch a Rockies game on Tuesday night. When I left the game, I walked across the street to the View House to grab a late dinner. I walked in a sat down at a table in the center of the room near the outside area. I sat for well over 30 minutes with numerous waitresses walking by me multiple times. None of them stopped to ask me if I wanted anything, not even a drink. A waitress I had noticed seemingly busier than any of the others, finally stopped and asked if I had been waited on. When I said "no", she was genuinely upset and apologetic. She immediately said she'd be right back and that even though it wasn't her section, she was going to take care of me. Her name was Cara. She is by far the best waitress I have ever had anywhere in the world. Friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu and brewery, and an awesome sense of humor. I was on the verge of leaving out of frustration and ended up leaving considering it a positive experience because of her and the effort she made to make me feel at home there. The food was good, but Cara was the best and earned the 4 stars. Had it not been for her, I would have rated it a zero. To the owners/ management of the View House, give that girl a raise and consider putting her in charge. She's bright, engaging and from what I saw that night, has a work ethic and sense of responsibility that set her apart from most. I look for people like her for management positions in my business.
Cara: Thanks for the great service! Next time I'm in Denver the beer or the Jameson is on me.
I visited the Viewhouse this past weekend for the first time and let me tell you, it is "Bad Ass"! I am from Houston, and wish we had something like that down here. Everything from the food, to the drinks(may be a ill pricey), to the "View", to the service(I believe it was Maja, Mark, and Matt??) was outstanding! What we thought was going to be a little bar tour, turned into an all night party at the Viewhouse. My friends and I left in stitches after chatting with the bartender from Detroit all night. I will definitely be coming back the next time I am in Denver! Keep up the great work.
Review Source:Stopped in after coming in town from Boston for the Great American Beer Festival and had a great time. Everything was much more than we expected. The service from the bartender Maja (I think) downstairs, to Matt, Mark, Jay and Q upstairs was unbelievable. We were there for a long time and they made us feel welcome the entire time. The views they have there were completely unexpected the DJ was everything we were told to expect. All in all, the service and atmosphere may just make this an annual trip!
Review Source:LOVED this place! Â Visited Denver from Detroit and was so impressed with the indoor/outdoor spaces. Â We were on the rooftop before a Rockies game and it was super crowded, but the bartenders were totally on top of the huge crowd, especially our bartender, Matt. Â Will return when I come back to Denver!
Review Source:Love!!! Food is better than typical bar food. I was kind of embarrassed when I showed up with my 2-year-old on a Saturday afternoon (it's not a place for kids), but the staff was really sweet to him. Even when he spilled a huge cup of milk, a bartender named Matt cleaned it up with a smile! My husband only cares if the beer is cold - that's why it gets 5 stars.
Review Source:Met Maja while the GABF was going on and was steered to the View House.
The food is top notch, but the staff was equally as stellar. Â Very glad I listened to Maja. After grubbing down he sent us upstairs to Matt, probably the funniest (and fastest) bar keep in town. He made us "tan line" shots and they were fantastic. Tasty but not girly. Everyone was so nice, Q especially... everyone seemed to know each other like family and I think that is why the service was so friendly.
I would feel comfortable taking my mom here or some friends to get crazy.
The View is not the best view in Denver, but def decent. Building faces the wrong way and looks back into downtown instead of  out at Coors Field and the mountains, but that is just being picky.
Thumbs up.
I haven't been out in a long time, but my sister and two friends from back home were visiting over the weekend, so I decided I had to show them a good time! I have been to Viewhouse once before, a few months ago, and had such an awesome time there that I knew this was where I needed to take my sis. We planned on starting our night off there with some food and cocktails, but ended up having such a blast that we never left :) The bartender downstairs, Maja, was great. She was super friendly and was not intimidating at all like some bartenders can be. I wanted my sister to see the "view" that makes viewhouse what it is, so we went upstairs to the roof after we finished our drink.
At this point the upstairs was already getting pretty crowded so we headed straight to the bar to get drinks. We wanted to do shots of something girly and were a little embarrassed that we didn't know what we wanted right away considering the bar was crowded by now, but the bartender Matt was extremely helpful and not irritated with us at all for not knowing what we wanted. He ended up making us shots that tasted exactly like sweet tarts. They were awesome and exactly what we wanted. He even took the time to explain to us how he made them and told us to come back to him if we wanted more :) Not your typical pretentious downtown bartender! It was obvious Matt was a favorite because he was the most busy of the bartenders upstairs, but all the other bartenders we dealt with that night were equally great. I think we met Mark, Jay and Q as well.
Overall, our experience at Viewhouse was a memorable one. My sister and my friends had a great time. No complaints in the service department, and I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in denver or who is visiting!
The only reason for the 4 stars is that the prices for drinks are a little high, but maybe that is the standard now a days downtown.
Just witnessed a manager / bouncer named Daniel slap a girl across the face on the way out of the bar. His eastern European cohort claimed self defense to a cop on the street. Meanwhile 4 guys hung around for an hour to defend the poor girl who got assaulted to no avail. To be honest with you, I have no idea who the girl was but I stuck around because I saw an incredible injustice just take place and wanted to see action against the prick that just open handed punched a girl in the face. Forget this place. Never again. This place is dead to me.
Review Source:This place is awesome! I'm from Miami and they don't have bars like this down there!
They had 2 levels of space, lots of games to play (volleyball, bean bag toss, etc) and a wonderful fire pit for those cold chilly nights.
I'm from Miami, so drink prices are expensive down there, but here they are cheap! My husband and I were drinking AND buying drinks for other people and the bill came out to $35 bux. Damn that's cheap!
They had music going and many TVs to watch all the games! If I lived in Denver, I would be back!!
Good spot for beers before the game and getting wasted with a view! Place is beautiful but service is god awful. I over heard the bartender down sell a soup!! Lol who does that?? I've eaten there an in my last stop I refused to eat though I was very hungry. I did see the gentle man next to me get the waffles slider that on the menu states it has two waffles like a sandwich( well that's definitely not the way it came) it was an open face waffle sandwich salad. Looked horrible and the look on the guys face was priceless...
There was a shift change and I must say that the girl from Kentucky is a lot more pleasant than the rest of the staff.
Place is cool like I said for the view and pre game but it's definitely not a restaurant. Need to step your game up when it comes to service! That place could be epic but it's not....:( sorry view house... I'll be back when the Rockies start again.
The prices here are so outrageous you might as well throw yourself off the "scenic" rooftop and let your family claim the insurance.
Before you make the big leap however, you'll have to pass by the bar. Â It won't be hard to find because it acts like a leaning post for bloated popped collar, deep V neck wearing frat like boys, dribbling into the cleavage of their top-heavy blonde bomb-bimbos. But there's no doubting the view. Â The rooftop is stunning; and gazing out over the D, you'll soon forget that you're surrounded by a babbling congregation douchiness.
As for their food, the Hot Iron Seared Salmon was quite good. And the Giant soft Pretzel my gal got earlier was good as well. The service however was much to be desired and to be honest the bartender we had was very pompous and aloof. Go fuck yourself I say.
Perhaps in retrospect my V neck was not deep enough down my chest and I failed to spray an entire can of Axe Kilo on before entering.
My bad.
View is nice tho.
So this place is awesome. It's like no other bar.
I was telling my out of town friends that this bar would be successful in any town. It's awesome. The May out is great and spacious. Easy to fit a lot of people in yet not too crowded that you can't walk. The bar is nice and the bar tenders were friendly.
The outside? The games? All awesome. We played some bean bags since the volleyball area was taken and had like three or four teams waiting. But, it would be awesome play that too. I think its great since bars normally want you to drink but what if it's a dead bar? And you are the only ones there? You leave. This place wants you to stay even if you're not drinking all the time. Great idea.
I'd love to come back.
First the "DJ" played the same songs over and over. Second if you go to the bar you don't pay tax on your drinks if you order from the waitress they charge you a tax. Â Just like every other downtown bar prices are outrageous 4.25 for a Bud Light CAN!!!! I was waiting to be charged for a water.
Review Source:Okay I Know I am a wee late reviewing this place, but after being home after my 5,000 mile roadtrip this summer I just have to give this place a shoutout. Â Denver was one of my stops and I have to say it was the most fun because of the Viewhouse. We had so much fun with Joe the viewhouse party guy! We brought champagne waterguns, played bear pong, volleyball, Â and tug-o-war (which was totally unfair for the guys hah.) Â I don't if it was the great people we met or place but Denver treated us really well! This place was awesome!
Review Source:I went for a meetup group here and see why they call it the Viewhouse. The top patio you can see the city while eating at a table or chilling at the bar. It was a little busy so I never was able to get drinks including from the waitress. I was there 4 hours and had some guys go up to the bar to buy some since it was so frustrating.
Other than that I had a awesome time, met a lot of connects, and a lovely view.
This place can go from the quality of my first review to complete GARBAGE depending on when you go. but overall its pretty bad..ive been here plenty of times now to update my review.
Weekend late nights? Its like tavern/lodos/etc.. you will like this if you like to bro it out with your bros and get into fights. I swear people have tried to start fights with me here at least twice (im the least fight-drunk ever too). and I see cops here all the time taking people away. Oh yeah and theres always a huge line to get in.
During gamedays? Pretty similar crowd here, but theres usually not as long of a line to get in.
The best time to go? Probably lunch and afternoons. Much less of a crowd and sometimes dead. Service is a tad better then but not by much.
The service is pretty bad no matter when you go..ive been there when its dead or packed...They cant remember the seasonal beers on tap (sorry bro I dont want a miller lite). And they are slow with food orders and tend to mess things up.
I wont lie though their food is pretty damn good still and thats why I tend to be ok with going if my friends really want to go here.
I like this bar a lot. Â We have gotten burgers, mozzarella sticks, and the pulled pork sandwich. Â All were great! Â My favorite part, is the VIEW...duh...And the atmosphere. Â They keep it fun and fast. Â Everyone is very friendly and even the bouncers are lighthearted, which is hard to find. Â This place is a must if you aren't going to be here long...Trust me...You'll be glad you did.
Review Source:I came here last Saturday with my girlfriends to celebrate one of my friend's bdays. She is OBSESSED with this bar and has been raving about them for weeks. Because of this, I was looking forward to checking out the Viewhouse.
The line to get in was INSANE! Luckily, the doorman let our group of 8 girls skip the line as a birthday present, so we got to avoid it. As soon as I walked in, my stomach dropped. The view on the first floor at Viewhouse is  a cluster of hipsters jammed together like a can of sardines.
Once we made our way up to the third floor and purchased our drinks, I was able to see the appeal. The view of Denver is amazing. I will have to try this place out for HH when it is a little less crowded.
Great place to start a pre Rockies game day.
My friend and I sat downstairs by the lawn games (another big plus).
We shared the cobb salad and onion rings, no complaints. Servers were all attentive and great. I'd love to come here with a group of friends and enjoy a nice summer afternoon.
We ate here yesterday before the ball game. Its located within a very short walking distance to Coors Field. Glad we did, the food was great. I had the brat, and I gotta say, it was cooked to perfection, as far as brats go anyway. It was complimented by corned beef, carrots and hot peppers, sort of like a Chicago style dog, but tastier.
Wife had the fish tacos, and Pop had the Rueben. Can't speak personally about their food, but they said it was really good.
The service was great, a friendly gal, Gloria. Very cute and good personality. We always give the servers a hard time, she was a good sport. We appreciate good customer service; Gloria was was spot on. Â Thank you, Gloria!
Bars like this make me love Denver even more than I already do!
The viewhouse is the perfect name for it. You literally have a breathtaking view of downtown Denver from the rooftop. Downstairs, there're people playing volleyball on astroturf and lots of seating. But upstairs is where it's at! It's like a whole different bar. It's swanky and sexy and airy! The bartenders are awesome. I think Sydney helped us and she was a great! We met some cool people and the music was unbeatable. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in Denver.
The owner of this place has done five things very well...the outside playground, the "above" roof deck, the cool interior design, the wide open garage doors, and hiring great staff.
The place is designed to give LoDwells (LoDo Dwellers) a suburban-type local hang out (that neighborhood bar you walk to) as well as, a place to visit during the Rockies season. It does this very very well.
I came in a week ago during one of the many Urban Races being ran in Downtown Denver, using The View House as a stop. Loved it.
I came back after the race, had a great time, enjoyed some pretty tasty twists on appetizers, had a great server and the manager came over to chat. Sounds like the perfect first time visit to me.
The twenty something crowd occupies Viewhouse with regularity. Â I wouldn't normally come to a bar like this but when you're invited to a surprise HH for one of your friends, the location doesn't matter.
Viewhouse is a three floor bar with one of the best views of downtown Denver from the rooftop patio. Â Activities are mainly on the ground floor (didn't have the pleasure). Â We predominantly enjoyed the rooftop patio. Â They do have waiter service for the tables but if you need a drink at that moment your best bet is to go up to the bar and get it yourself. Â I was able to try some of their wings and mozzarella sticks wrapped in prosciutto, both were okay, fried bar food IMO. Â Drinks were plentiful and service was okay. Â
It's a great place for the younger crowd for before or after a game. Â I'll stick to my kind of bars in the future.
Let me first say that rarely am I motivated enough to write a Yelp review, but I just can't stop myself this time.
View House is by far the coolest bar I've ever been to! The downstairs outdoor game area--- who thought of that?!?! They deserve a prize! I've never seen a bar like this, and honestly this bar alone and all the cool stuff happening in it makes me want to move to Denver. The rooftop deck-- amazing views, clean, full of people but not crowded, was able to get a drink from the bar fast, decent prices... No complaints here! Oh yeah, the bartenders up there are nice to look at too. You always hear about Denver having hot guys... yup, it's not a lie. Just go to View House and check out the guys behind the bar, brown haired guys with beards... I think I'll stay here and never go home.
Honestly, when I went there I was tipsy and remember wondering who put that many stairs in a bar... but cardio workout aside, this place rocks! Wish we had anything remotely similar in Hawaii. You Denver kids are lucky!
My new favorite spot in Denver. Â Great staff, great drinks (and drink specials), and by far the best Sunday Funday spot I've ever been too!
I love their mobile app too, I downloaded it from the Apple App store on my iphone.
They do push notifications and notify people about concerts, backyard games, and all the other events happening. Â Impressive marketing, damn. Â No wonder there is a line around the building every time I drop by there.
First of all, the View House is a restaurant/bar that I'd recommend for the younger crowd (early to mid 20s). We went when there wasn't a Rockies game though, so there is a chance it caters to peeps of all ages during that time.
The food and drinks at this place are just average. We got the sliders, fries, queso and a hot dog appetizer. All were just mediocre. For drinks we had shots, mixed, drinks and beer. I thought the shots were a little weak., and the word on the mixed drinks was that they were below average.
The pluses about this place are the service, the decor, and the entertainment. The service - although they were slow to take our order, our waitress was really fun and attentive once she starting serving us. The decor - the spacious, brick, warehouse sort of feel was open and hospitable. The entertainment - this place catered to the 20 somethings, offering an entire back lawn of sand for volleyball, tug of war, corn hole and more. As it got later, people arrived dressed up in ridiculous costumes. Maybe that is just the norm for the downtown Denver bar scene. There was a group that appeared to be dressed as the Fruit of the Loom characters, another in a Superman costume and another dressed as Santa Claus.
All in all, it was a good time.
I now know the meaning of Sunday Funday. Rope Burns are optional. Ill get to that in a second.
The beers are reasonably priced for tap, and they have frozen margaritas. For all the people inside they make use of the space. Never felt over crowded whether inside or upstairs on the patio or on the lawn area.
Plenty of activities as well. From Volleyball to Tug of War Hence the rope burns. To the Oversized Beer pong.
Nice way to get a quick buzz after leaving Coors Field. Haven't tried any food yet but the alcohol and fun and atmosphere is great. Did check out the dessert menu and looks tasty.
I'm kind of surprised this place has such a low rating! It's a pretty comparable addition to the other bars in that area, but it's not that bad!
Cons: It will always be crowded on the weekends and before a Rockies game, the food is just so-so, the drinks are a little pricey, and it's the typical Lo-Do crowd.
Pros: It's HUGE so it can handle the crowds, there seems to be a lot of staff so not too much waiting, THE ROOF, and that ridiculously cool fake-grass area where you can play games.
All in all, this is really the perfect place to pregame a Rockies game, or maybe to do a Sunday Funday downtown. I seriously doubt I would ever go there just to grab a drink with some friends and catch up, but it works in the right situation.
PROS:
- if you don't know where to go on a monday, tuesday, wednesday, or any day of the week, come here. Â You'll always expect to see a crowd here.
- perfect for Sunday Funday. Â They have giant beer pong, volleyball, corn hole, and a live DJ. Lots of fun especially during the summer.
- lots of young, single, and attractive people.
- drinks are really affordable.
- this is probably the most popular in Downtown Denver right now
- Ask for Michael, Best bartender there!
CONS:
- not the right place if you're looking to dress up and go all out. Â It's very very casual here.
- food is alright. Â Bland. Â What you'd normally expect for bar food.
- gets extremely packed on the weekends after 10PM.
Let me just open by saying that I rarely frequent bars. In fact, I can't remember the last time I went to one. Seriously. I'm that lame.
This place reminds me a bit of a big frat party, in the best and worst possible ways, which made for fun and for even more fun spectating. We went for a friend's 35th, which happened to be "Sunday Fun Day". There were volleyball games, beer pong and a dunk tank to enjoy. We hit up all but the volleyball.
If you want to wrestle another girl in a kiddie pool? Have at it! Do you want to play tug of war? They have that too. Want to put the birthday boy in the dunk tank? Don't worry, you can make that dream a reality! Some beer pong? Sure.
I really don't drink much (see opening paragraph), so the 1 blue Long Island I had did the trick. When I was done, absolutely no one except the group I was with gave me a hard time for not drinking more. I also had pigs in a blanket (decided to "f" nutrition today and throw caution to the wind), which were also pretty decent (and served with a scrap of salad in case you want to pretend your meal has some nutritional value). The service was great, and our server was actually very light hearted and friendly despite the many trips he had to make for our high-maintenence group (more syrup, butter....you name it, we requested it).
I ultimately arrived at the 4 star mark because I feel like there is something for everyone here. If you want to be low-key and take in a great view, you'll love the rooftop deck with one of the best views I've seen in Denver. If you want to get in on a little more of the action, you'll find something to do on the "lawn".
Perhaps I'll be back sometime for a drink before a Rockies game (the stadium being a short walk from the View House).
Cheers!
I've been to the View House a few times and have enjoyed myself each time. Â It is situated between Coors and Downtown off Market Street - offering fantastic, up & close views of each! I feel like most business is provided by post-gamers of Coors, whether in celebration or to keep drinking. Â With that, the crowds begin fairly early, but flow in throughout the night for the non-gamers.
The bar itself has a few levels/areas to explore... 1) Front Bar with Small Patio Area (by the entrance) which is to me the most Pub-by area, 2) Grassy Courtyard opposite the Front Bar with Hillbilly Golf & Bags games, 3) Side Bar which connects the Courtyard and Front Bar with lots of TVs, seating and the bathrooms are located here for the ground level, 4) Outside Rooftop wraps around in a U-Shape around the Rooftop Bar has a variety of seating with minimal stretching space, and 5) Inside Rooftop which has the main Dance Floor and another bar...
A few things to note: Â
- It. Gets. Crowded. Â So... unless you are eating ALL night, do not even bother with the middle tables on the Outside Rooftop because they WILL literally ask you to get up and they will take your table. Â This is to "maximize space since business is so good."
- Dress How You Wish.... because I am yet to see a trend there! Â I've seen casual, hoochie, sophisticated, urban, you name it!
- The Music is On Point! Â They play a very nice mix of Hip Hop, Dubstep, Techno House, Rap, some Top 40s, and it changes one song after the next... they don't play a genre for 10 minutes and then switch. Â I love it!
Lastly, a tip from me - IF you really do live in the Ballpark/LoDo area, bring a bill or ID with your address because they will excuse the cover charge and skip the main line!
Ugh.
I want to like View House but I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen. Made it in again around 5:30 for happy hour. My table was conveniently ignored until 5:59 and then told "happy hour ends at 6, and I could never make it to the computer before the prices switch."
Add to that the fact that we were given no menus of any sort and when we asked what was on the invisible menu our server rolled her eyes and sighed as she explained the beers on tap.
The sun was shining and I wasn't in the mood to be annoyed so we asked a second time for menus. We decided on the Spinach Dip appetizer, thinking we could always order more if necessary. Welp, we definitely needed more! The appetizer included a snack size ziploc bag of tortilla chips and a huge bowl of mostly air and a thin layer of spinach dip lining the bottom.... For $9.
We sucked it up, paid our bill and walked to an establishment down the street to continue our evening.
Had been hearing all the buzz about this place so I happily joined a friend who wanted to try it out. Â We arrived towards the end of happy hour, were not greeted by the 3 hostesses/servers who were gathered around the front, and wandered around on our own deciding where we wanted to sit. Â Our server arrived at 5:59 (I believe ever so conveniently right before the end of happy hour) and were told we were too late. Â
Nonetheless, we ordered our drinks and asked for a menu. Â Menu looks just like most other bars in the area (unlike what they supposed tout about their unique offerings). Â Our spinach artichoke dip arrived and I was dumbfounded. Â I don't even think you could call it a dip as it was literally so little that you barely could scrape it out with one of the 12 chips that were given to us. Â And to top it off, you can get this tiny bit of food for the lovely price of $9.
This place really has nothing going for it other than the lawn. Â However, when I was there no one was even using it. Â Not sure that I'll be back.
This place is a JOKE! Who is in charge? We went on Sunday and it has a great vibe outside with all the lawn games but the bartenders were either drunk or stoned. They could barely talk, they threw my credit card at me and then when placing an order, told me to  be quiet so they could listen to the song that was playing! Beers were warm and when asked for is, the bartender rolled her eyes at me.
Then, a young girl was passed out in the bathroom stall and a bouncer came in to help. Do you know where we saw this girl taken, she was DUMPED on the sidewalk, still passed out...that is safe and I have nothing positive to say about the cops that were standing right there at the entrance and saw it!
These 2 stars are for the rooftop deck view only! I went here on a weeknight for a cool place to sit and have dessert with my girlfriend after class. The waitress brought us to a table with no menus so I asked if she could bring us one. She brought us 23. 23 menus on the table for two people.... what??? Girlfriend ordered a drink and I ordered a dessert and a NON alcoholic beer as I don't drink alcoholic drinks. We waited 45 minutes for my drink which turned out to be regular beer (first time in 4 years I'd taken a sip of an alcoholic drink) and another 45 for the dessert. She kept coming by our table during that time asking if we had received the dessert yet. I thought the job of the waitress was to bring out the orders. Either way, we really did enjoy the view, but truly hated the service and food. Would not recommend to anyone with any real expectations.
EDIT 6/6/13: I was contacted by the marketing director at View House and received a long and heart felt apology. I have been informed that changes have been made to the way orders are prepared on the rooftop deck. I will be giving them a second chance because of their response and will edit my review if necessary after my second visit.
