Tried this place for the first time after many recommendations from other friends/family.  First impression from outside; doesn't really seem like much, but when you walk in the decor is actually quite nice.  It wasn't loud at all, music was low but a nice touch.  We went around 7pm Friday night.

Service:  It was a little slow but honestly I didn't care because I was in no rush.  The Manager or owner came over to every table to ask how everything was, if we needed anything.  Definitely makes you feel welcomed.

Drinks: I ordered a glass of chianti, while my girlfriend ordered a sauvignon blanc.  Both very delicious.  The selection is very good as well.

Food: I order the Chicken Parmigiana entree, and split a margarita pizza.  Bread came first at the table and was very fresh italian bread.  A little olive oil, salt, pepper.  Next the pizza came out, it was very very good.  Brick oven style pizza; bread, sauce, cheese were all fantastic.  The price for the pizza was not so fantastic...As for the entree; I must say...This was one of the best chicken parm's I've ever had (I am a bit of a chicken parm snob).  It wasn't overly breaded like others, the sauce again was superb, and the nice block of cheese on it was the "icing on the cake".  It was paired with a nice serving of angel hair pasta, that was very refreshing in itself.  The price for the entree was a little high, but definitely worth it in my opinion!

I would recommend this place to anyone.

The food is great and the price is fair for the portions. Great pasta and seafood dishes. Great place to bring a date.

Surprisingly good food in a strip mall next to the original Ray's the Steak.  Don't go out of your way to visit, but come here if you're a local and want good eats. You will not be disappointed.  thumbs up.

Sub par experience in terms of service and food. We live right nearby and decided to try it for an easy Friday night dinner. Easy, not so much. The menu is pretty extensive, which I find a bit off putting. It takes forever to decide what you want, and you never know if it's going to be good or not IMHO. We started with the mussels, which were ok, but I hadn't decided on my entree yet and the app arrived before our waitress checked in the get our order. So we had a bowl of mussels, drinks, bread and side plates, and our large menus all on a small table. We also did not have a bowl to put the empty shells in, not that we could have fit it, but I find that extremely careless. We had already finished our app before our waitress returned to get our entree order, and we had to ask her not to turn around and talk to the table next to us while we were trying to order so she wouldn't disappear again, urg! The entrees were nothing impressive, my shrimp tasted like it had been cooked in chlorinated water and the whole dish had too much acid and bitterness. Overall it was a huge waste of 100 dollars, which is pretty overpriced for the neighborhood. As I said, we live right near by, but we will not be back.

Not so good last time we were there. It was a fri night, they must have been short staffed or something. It wasnt that busy but service was slow and it was a little disorganized. Food was okay. Not as good as it use to be. We live right across the street so its dissapointing .

We have tried over two dozen fish small plates and entrees with pasta or risotto. We've never been disappointed. The fra diavolo is always cooked perfectly. Village Bistro is an unassuming Arlington gem.

    This place, I think not...

If I include the other members of our party's meals, I would give it 2 stars, but decided with one...

First, we had 4 adults... 3 of us had different menus, so we had no idea what they have or don't..what was funny, they had the same cut of fish, but from different locations... Humorous

Second, the service... Good luck... We were there over two hours and could have been there when the place opened if we waited on them to give s a check... Ad to ask for it..

Third the food, ordered the lobster ravioli and meh is being generous...stay away from it..

    Not for me...

This is simply an update on my previous review, which I consider to still be valid. Frank Smiley wrote me a very nice email as a result of my review. It is clear to me that customer satisfaction is important to him. The follow up alone along with a generous offer on his part warrants an immediate upgrade to 3 stars.

I hope to take him up on his offer at some point, and dine at the restaurant again, however due to my becoming a new father recently, I'm not sure when that will happen. So look for another update sometime in the future.

I was hoping this place would be good because of the 3.5 star yelp average review and the higher prices. My girlfriend and I were highly disappointed and will never go back.

The food was incredibly overpriced for how bad it was. Two appetizers, glasses of wine, and entrees brought the bill to $87 - about 100% more than I thought the food was worth.

My caprese was smothered in some weird brown sauce, had translucent, tasteless tomatoes, and no basil. (Instead, there was a mound of lettuce drowning in more of the mysterious brown sauce.)

My gf's duck breast salad was also smothered in dressing. It was supposed to be smoked, but that was the only flavor there was. It might as well have been pork.

Our entrees came out in the midst of our appetizers. My steak salad was disappointing; I agree with another reviewer who got it as well and said the meat was tough and the blue cheese bland. Again, the salad was drenched in dressing and the tomatoes were translucent and tasteless.

My gf got the tortellini. The prosciutto was burnt, the peas were extremely undercooked, and the cream sauce was heavy even for a cream sauce and tasted odd. She got the small plate but didn't want to finish it.

The service was shit. We had two different waitresses who seemed to be entirely unaware of each other's presence, acting surprised when we said we had already ordered our food or wine with the other. My water was not once refilled during the meal. My red wine was brought out in a white wine glass, and my gf's white wine was brought out warm. (The pour was also quite small.)

As was mentioned above, the entrees came out while we were still eating the appetizers. They did not give us new silverware for the main course, which I would have expected at a place charging this much. We did not receive olive oil + balsamic + salt + pepper for the table until we asked for it. At the end of the meal, the waitress thought nothing of reaching across us to clear the condiments.

The music was also somewhat odd, as was noted in other reviews. It was excessively upbeat for a place trying to be chill and classy.

Don't go here. If you want to blow away $80 on dinner for two, there are better places in Arlington. I am now sitting at home drinking whiskey to try to burn away the taste of this meal.

The average food at an above average price would have gotten Village Bistro a 3 star review, but the absolute chaos emanating throughout the restaurant ruined our experience and dropped it to a solid 2. From start to finish this was unorganized and a generally unpleasant dinning experience.

It started poorly. We had to ask several people to help us get seated. They were busy, but person after person promised to help before disappearing. Then some regulars showed up and manager ran up and, without even dropping his voice, the manager immediately offered them a table. I always try to pull stunts like that so the premise didn't offend me, but try to be discrete! To their credit, they regulars declined the offer because other people were waiting. It was another 10 mins before we seated.

Then we started ordering and the wheels fell off the bus: 1) we waited 40 mins after being seated before our first app arrived; 2) the app that the waitress steered us to was $22 (significantly more expensive than the other options); 2) our entree arrived while we were only partially through our app; 3) the ahi tuna was average; 4) no less than 6 other entrees were presented to us that weren't ours (the table next us started laughing with us about it).

Bottom-line: This is a poorly managed restaurant that will convey its chaos upon its patrons and leave you more stressed than before you arrived. They make a big deal about all their seafood being extremely fresh, but we thought it was average at best. My wife called it - their menu is pages long and it's rare that a place with such ambition can pull it off.

Village Bistro is an Italian-themed bistro owned and managed by a dedicated foodie named Frank Smiley who runs this high quality restaurant in an amiable, honest manner.  The Bistro specializes in top quality fish, mostly flown in fresh from Hawaii, and has excellent wine, pizza, pasta, salads, and many appetizers. The ambiance is excellent -- a great place to take a date or chill with friends. Free parking in front.

I love this place. Really quality gnocci, scallops, and chicken parm. It's a really cute, family run restaurant. Some of the reviews here are more critical, but this knocks it out of the park for your local bistro.

So the service here is not outstanding. They're slow but they're nice and helpful. The food, on the other hand, is spectacular. When you come here, come with someone whose company you enjoy and don't mind spending some time with and don't be in a rush. The pace is much slower than you're used to in most restaurants but the atmosphere is comfortable and, like I said, the food is great. You can almost always safely go with the "small portion" of anything. It's always enough food.
It's not 5 star but it's yummy and good for a date night.

Came here on a date but was not impressed: it was loud, cramped, and the service wasn't very good.

    Given the price,
    (1) The food was average, at best.
    (2) The ambiance was mediocre
    (3) I'd expect a much better experience over all.

Definitely not going back, but its not the worst place ever either.

This used to be one of our standard dining spots- nice without being too pricey, casual enough to go wearing jeans, good food and tons of fish. Crowded, but usually it was fine.

Then we made reservations for my birthday dinner. We specifically mentioned it was for a birthday and it was only a party of 4, so it shouldn't have been that difficult a request to honor. But when we got there, it was jam packed, with absolutely no available tables. More than that though, the manager completely brushed us off. We were standing in the entrance while he kept coming over to tell us they were "checking on it" and then walking away. It's not a big place, there was clearly nothing to check on. It's one thing to make an honest scheduling mistake, but their behavior was insulting and rude. They should have owned up to it and apologized to us, and maybe offered a discount on a future night or drinks at the bar. We waited there for 15 minutes before just walking out.

(We went to Le Refuge, in Old Town, instead- they managed to get us a table last minute, hold it for us even though we arrived late, and served us fantastic French food. Plus, their staff was wonderful.)

Tried this restaurant for lunch today and it was fantastic. This is a great option for a business lunch that offers great food, nice setting, service, and reasonable price for lunch. We met the owner Frank and he is very dedicated to fresh seafood and making sure that the Omega-3 fatty acids is there to make his customers healthy. Parking can be a challenge.

This restaurant is saved by the quality of their food.  I have been here twice, ordering soups, salads, appetizers, entrees from the regular menu and Hawaiian fish Specials menu.  All fantastic.

The Village Bistro has a serious problem with their service though.  All of the waiters, waitresses, busboys, and hosts are very nice people.  The system for serving tables is horrible though.  I cannot even tell if there is a system.  Last time, I had 5 different people address the need of my table in 8 minutes ("Is everything okay?" "Have you received your soups yet?" -Yes, 20 minutes ago.. "Your Lobster Ravioli?" -asked twice; a polite No both times).  We then did not see anybody for the next 20-25 minutes.  It seems like every employee has a job for each of the 20+ tables.  That makes no sense.  I have never seen a wait staff in such disarray.

The owner needs to stop walking around with uncut dead fish on display to every table.  It's not something that everyone wants to see while out for dinner.  I have also never been a fan of presenting the different dessert options on a platter.  It is uncomfortable to have the waiter waiting for me to say "Yes" or "No" as he holds a tray (What if I need time to talk to my friends to decide?).  Not to mention, the cakes and pies start to look old from being out for so long.  Please switch to a Dessert Menu.

Speaking of menus.. redesign your menu.  Black font on white computer paper is not fitting for what could be a fancy restaurant.

Be consistent with your music.  On the playlist for my most recent visit: Santana - Oye Como Va; Johnny Cash - Walk the Line; Opera music; a Tropical Island version of "Happy Birthday;" Marc Anthony.

Village Bistro's decor is inconsistent and unsightly.  There are Spanish tiles, French and Italian movie posters, Chinese lanterns, umbrellas, and drapery (that I saw get in the way of a number of waiters), and an odd faux French Window blocking the kitchen.

Please work on the presentation of this restaurant.  The food is so delicious.  It would be a shame to lose that due to aesthetic and poor planning.

Ate here last night for the first time in years and the restaurant's gimmick is that it flies in fish from far off places like Hawaii and Florida, same day or something like that.

I had the dover sole and it was good but not earthshattering.  I went with a friend who likes places like Guajillo and Circa, so I expected mediocre...which is what I really think this bistro is at the end of the day.

I also had the French onion soup, which tasted off and we shared a chocolate mousse cake, which tasted a day old.  I hate that.  We had leftover cab and it just didn't go very well.

The menu is extensive and I just don't buy that the kitchen does all five or six pages very well.

I will not be coming here again any time soon, if at all.

Some of the best food I've ever had in Arlington. And some of the most expensive. We used to go to this place occasionally, but hadn't been in a long time. It's still very cute, and it looks like they redecorated, which made it look even better. It was almost empty when we walked in just before 7, but filled up to 80% while we were there.

Their specialty is fish. The menu is big and confusing, but it doesn't have to be. The front page is appetizer specials and a few other random things. The middle two pages are the main listings, the left side being the small plate version of the entrees on the right side. And the back side are the old, less expensive bistro selections.

My wife started with the small plate tuna. It was delicious, cooked just briefly, and presented beautifully. It was $19, and worth it. I had rock fish for dinner, and it was excellent. My wife had the John Durry, which wasn't quite as good as my rock fish, and at $36, one of the most expensive entrees.  Both of our main courses were accompanied by some very nice potatoes and vegetables.

So the food at the Village Bistro is great. Some of the best seafood we've had in DC! But gIven the other restaurants in this strip mall; Pho 75, Ray's Hellburger; I hope the Village Bistro will be able to get enough business to keep their fish fresh, and justify their ambition and prices.

Perfectly serviceable neighborhood place with a French spin and a heavy emphasis on fish entrees. The food was solid but nothing all that remarkable. I'm really more 2.5 stars on this than three.

I had blackened mahi-mahi and it was fine,I guess,  but not particularly flavorful.  It came with straightforward steamed vegetables, which really pisses me when I am dining out.  If the guy in the kitchen can't figure out something more imaginative as a side dish than to zap some broccoli or zucchini he shouldn't be working in a restaurant.. Service was polite but amateurish -- plates delivered to wrong tables, requests sometimes forgotten. The brightest note? The bread is truly outstanding.

We live in the neighborhood and have been to the bistro many times.  Unfortunately it is on the downward trend in our opinion.  Tonight as in the last couple of visits they were out of the wine we wanted to order (very small list) and the appetizer also.  The wine we ordered came warm (routine here, even mentioned it to server before we ordered).  They did upgrade their wine glassed if you order a bottle, good job!
We waited a long time for first course, since when did caesar salad come with shredded Monterey jack?)  Water, when finally refilled was with warm tap water....yuk!.   Entrees were OK but certainly nothing better than average at best.  For a restaurant that charges the prices that they do you would expect much more.  Too bad they have upgraded the appearance so much but not the food, the food and service were much better in the past!

Good food, crappy service. Anytime I have to wait an ungodly amount of time for a menu and water (15-20 minutes of us just sitting there) that is what I consider a _bad_ sign. My beer came only after I asked about it 20 minutes later, water glasses not refilled. Thank goodness their food was at least tasty after all that waiting. They have an interesting menu (most definitely _not_ French as labeled above, more Italian/Contemporary American) that seems to vary a lot depending on availability.

Came here for my birthday dinner with my family.

I am giving it a 3.5-4 stars. The food quality was excellent and everything tasted very good, my main issue was with the service at the restaurant.

Decor: Very nice, not too loud for me, decorations were not too extravagant. 4/5

Service: While service was friendly, it was also a bit absent from our table. This generally is not an issue with me, however, we had been waiting for about 10 minutes after finishing our meals before our water was refilled and a dessert menu was brought out. We had ordered mussels and they had also ran out, and replaced the mussels with clams... It was delicious, however they should have added a few more clams to make up for this. 2.5/5

Food: Food was delicious for the most part. The Bread was very good as well. The fish was a tad bit dry. 4/5

I would return in the future still, as I am generally quite patient with service, and I like to sit and enjoy my meals for long periods of time.

A nice place to grab dinner when you want to stay in this area. This place is definitely not french. It's more Italian or Mediterranean. There is a huge selection of fresh fish and pasta. I had the paiche, which was cooked just about right and even thought I had the small dish, the portion was just perfect.

The decor looks like something out of kitchen nightmares before the makeover, so they can work on that. But the waiter was nice and helped with all the questions we had about the fish they had that night.

The lighting was weird. It was too dark and depending on how you sat, you could block out all the light and not be able to see anything in front of you.

Being a vegetarian, I usually stay away from French restaurants.  But this place is very accommodating and willing to make any dish vegetarian.

Its a small hole-in-the wall place, dimly lit, with a romantic ambiance.  We had made a reservation for 11 people, which they forgot about.  Luckily, the place was empty at the time and they were able to set up a table quickly.

We sat there for about 20 minutes before we decided to order.  They actually waited until we ordered our appetizers to bring out the bread.  I wasn't sure why that was the case  The server was very friendly and offered great advise on the different entrees.

This place does have pizzas, but due to lack of pizza dough (???), the pizzas were not available.  I was waiting all day to try their brick-oven pizza, so was a bit disappointed.

The 'Lentil and Roasted Red Pepper' soup is amazing.  Even if you are not a vegetarian, try out this soup.  It had the perfect blend of spices making it super delectable.  The 'Penne Pesto with vegetables' (not on the menu, but something I told the waiter to prepare for me) was great.  The sauce wasn't too creamy and the vegetables were fresh.

For a vegetarian like me, this French cuisine offers variety of options (not listed on the menu).  You just have to talk to the waiter and the food will be prepared.  I wish their pizzas are always available as I can't wait to try it out.  Overall, we had a great time.  If you are here for someone's b'day, make sure to tell the waiter.  They put some loud music with b'day songs and ensure that the b'day person feels special.

YES, THERE ARE ROACHES. I SAW ONE TOO.

We had finished our meal. I looked over. Roach on the table cloth next to us.
It was directly under the air vent at the front of the restaurant, by the bar.

Food was ok and over priced.
    Roaches came free.

A 2x4 leaning against the window nearly feel on us as well.

    You've been warned.

    Pros: Very tasty food

Cons: Pricey, they forgot about our reservation and didn't have a table for our 8 person party, once we were seated, we got bread with no plates (bread plates had to be asked for 3 times), wine bottles with no glasses (we waited while a guy in a dirty sweatsuit hand cleaned them behind the bar) and then waited a full hour and a half until we actually saw our food.  They even screwed up the check and left a big chunk off of the bill.  We calculated the original amount, figured in the tip, etc and the waiter came running over, grabbed the old check and presented the new updated check.  So don't worry, they didn't lose any money last night.

The Restaurant itself needs a face-lift and the men's bathroom looks like it should be in a prison movie.  If you're paying $27.00+ for an entree, you can afford to put up a coat of paint and clean up the bathroom, can't you?

Best dinner I've had in a long time and I can't wait to return!

Went here on a Friday evening with my husband and had a wonderful experience start to finish.

Service: We had a reservation, but it didn't appear to be necessary. Our server was fantastic; funny, attentive and informative. He explained many of the entrees and even deboned my husband's fish for us at the table. The service made our evening very enjoyable.

Ambiance: Dimly lit and romantic. Restaurant itself is not huge, but I didn't feel packed in. Only thing I found awkward were the random string of Christmas lights running the length of the restaurant, but food was so good, I'll let it slide.

Food: If you like fish and seafood, this is the place for you! Fish is fresh and me nut boasts tons of unique varieties. Love that they have a menu of small plates.  I started with the french onion soup and it was AMAZING! Ordered the small plate of monk fish and it was awesome. I was slightly disappointed with the complimentary bread and creme brûlée.

It was a bit pricey, but completely worth it.

Quick Tip:If you're squeamish about seeing a fish head on your plate, check with your server to see if they can debone it in the kitchen. Also, I would not bring my sister, who is a vegetarian, here.

Bottom line: Great little hole in the wall that you must try!!

    WOW!  Fresh, deliciously flavored everything!

Had dinner with a few friends and unexpectedly ended up being one of the best meals I've enjoyed in the past few years.  Everything we had was so fresh, wonderfully balanced with bold flavors and cooked to perfection.  They have fresh fish and seafood flown in daily. Need I say more?

Normally, I do not talk about bread, nor do I eat it since it's just a "filler" in most cases.  But the bread here is so crusty (the way I like it) and so good.  The homemade butter was whipped and so light which made the combination delightful.  I had more than 1 piece, which never happens.  Good start.

    We shared a few appetizers:
    - Scallops Risotto - Wonderful flavors and perfectly cooked scallops.  Risotto is one of the best around
    - Mussels in lemon butter sauce - To die for!  Lemony, but perfectly balanced.  Sauce was so good, I soaked it all up with the bread. Will definitely try again
    - Shrimp in lemon sauce - Very good.  Shrimp not overcooked and rubbery, but delicate and melts in your mouth
    - French Onion Soup - Best FOS I've ever had.  Hands down!

Needless to say, the appetizers were all winners.  If I knew better, I would have been satisfied with just that.  But the entrees were still coming out.  I ordered the Whole Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bream which was so delicious. My hubby who hates fish even enjoyed it.  Everyone else's dishes were all superb.

I ate WAY too much, but somehow still able to fit in dessert.  We shared the Creme Brulee and the Lemon Mousse.  Probably one of the best creme brulees I've had in a while.  Both desserts were very light and tasty.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I came here a couple of times before and never tried anything else other than the Lobster Ravioli.  That dish is addictively AWESOME!  The portion size looks deceptively "small", but is actually very filling.

I'm so glad I reached out and tried different dishes or else I would've never have known what I'm missing.  Service was great.  Price was very reasonable. This place is such a gem.  I will definitely come back.

Looking at the reviews, I decided to deviate a bit from the classic scallops, lobster ravoli, and linguine. I decided to order the turbo, which was a leap of faith for me (i usually eat salmon, tuna, etc.). Nervous at the choice, but confident it'll be good (the waiter described it very well), I cut a small piece and had to remind myself it was fish. Seriously, it's prepared that well. The fish was cooked to a bit of a flaky, crispy crust but the meat just melts in your mouth. There was no hint of the sea in the turbo which was a pleasant surprise. Next, the mashed potatoes were from heaven. Super light, fluffy, buttery, delicious. The sauteed vegetables were eh, but paired with the chardonnay lemon sauce...it became a masterpiece.

The portions for the turbo was decent for the price tag ($23)...but it definitely had be hungry for more.

By the way, get the risotto at Village Bistro...by far the BEST I've ever had.

Nice change up for North Arlington. I mean, how many cupcake, burger, and pizza places can one area have?

Village Bistro is cute, non pretentious (but somewhat fancy [like half Drake Fancy, half Ben Affleck fancy]), and overall a decent spot to sit down and enjoy a nice dinner.

The menu is very extensive so I had trouble choosing. I got the bistro calamari (which to be honest kind of sucked but the sauce was good) and the Brazilian fish. Fish was good, boyfriend's fish was good, friend's chicken was good. Basically the food is good. Is it extraordinary? Slightly above average yes. I love the unique flavors this place has! Despite it being almost Applebees size portions for their food, I devoured my entire plate. Had two glasses of pino which were good, too. Cousin had the pino noir which was fantastical.

Desserts were skipped as the menu looked less than impressive (standard dessert menu).

Service was good, too, although he kept trying to sell us stuff. Some could argue that was pushy, some could argue he's just ensuring we know the menu. Whatever, we were served.

Unique addition to have in the area.

My wife and I discovered this place a few months ago, despite living around the corner from it.  I give it a firm 3 stars as being "A-OK", b/c the food is delicious, and I like it's a local place as opposed to a chain. However, I can't give it more than 3 stars b/c the last time I was there I ordered the Prime Rib special, and was given a NY Strip. I noticed the mistake immediately and asked the server if it was a Prime Rib, and she said she "thinks so", but will ask the chef. She came back a minute or two later and said it was a Prime Rib, despite the fact that it clearly was not. Not wanting to create a scene in front of our guests, I ate the NY Strip. It was delicious, but I was shocked they were so stubborn about the type of steak it was. I have a hunch the server knew it was the wrong one, but felt to dug into her answer, and just went with it.

I'll go back to the Village Bistro, but will stick to the Chicken Parm.

Well, here's a quiet but pleasant surprise.  Village Bistro is sandwiched between two of the most popular eateries around, Ray's Hell Burger (~475 reviews on Yelp) and Pho 75 (200+ reviews).  Although less appreciated than its neighbors, Village Bistro boasts a menu and intimate setting that would be right at home across the river in Georgetown.

I came with my roommates this past Sunday night, and found an empty restaurant.  We considered jumping next door to the crowded (as usual) burger joint, but luckily, stuck around.  The food here is quite good.  I enjoyed my entree of veal saltimbocca (veal covered in sage and prosciutto, in a red wine reduction), and liked what I tried of my roommates' sausage penne entree and heaping "small plate" of fried oysters.  Lastly, I took home a slice of key lime tart, which I'm enjoying while writing this.  Mmmm...

So why the lack of crowds here?  Perhaps a dinner that might run you $40/person is too pricey compared to its neighbors.  Yet only the $7 for a small slice of pie seemed unreasonable to me--and besides, there are adequate menu options available at low and high price points.  Village Bistro is worth hitting up for a nice meal in the Arlington area.

While eating here, a cockroach about the size of a fifty-cent piece fell out of the A/C duct overhead onto my shoulder.  My wife freaked out and started beating my shoulder with her napkin.  A bus-boy who saw it remarked that "it was a pretty big one" - the implication was that he had seen others to compare it to.

We couldn't get out of there fast enough.  On the way out, my wife stepped on another one at the front door.  If you see one cockroach, there are hundreds - if you see two, well, perhaps thousands.

There are restaurants on either side of this place and cockroaches are probably infesting those places too.

I'd suggest you avoid this place unless you're really into entomology.

The best quality food in the neighborhood.  Very low key but friendly service.  I really like the selection of small plates.  And the escargot is one of the most unusual I've had, with mushrooms and walnuts.

I'm new the the area but already a regular here.

If you don't feel like waiting for a table at Ray's then you should definitely give this place a try. Total surprise! Delicious food, great local spot with good service. Quick too. Lots of great items on the menu. My husband said his tuna was one of the best he's ever had in his life. He's had A LOT of tuna so I guess that's saying something!

This must be one of THE best strip malls in VA for food choices. I guess they had to make up for the lack of choices down the street in Rosslyn.

We stumbled upon this place after a failed attempt to eat at Ray's on a Saturday night.  yes, we are stupid, of course the wait at Ray's was about three hours long.  Our stomachs could not handle that time frame, so we went next door to the Village Bistro.

What a pleasant surprise!  The wait staff was very friendly and charming, and I had trouble choosing from the menu because everything sounded so good!  I settled on the linguini with clams, and it did not disappoint.  We both had dessert, and my creme brulee was not exactly great.  However, this place isn't exactly a dessert destination...so who cares!!

The prices were reasonable and the decor was very charming.  I would go back if I ever get out to VA again!

This 3.5 star strip mall gem is among other gems (Ray's the Steaks and Guapo's) and you'll know it the minute you try to park during peak dining hours. It used to be the place that everyone loved and nobody knew about, but I think the secret is out. I wouldn't dare call it fine dining. I'd call it a great local spot with really fine food.

The space is very charming with a rustic French casual feel. The primarily French menu with European influences is extensive and affordably priced. Skip the pizza and go for the more traditional French foods. Also check the blackboard for daily specials which also tends to be extensive and very good. Fish always seems to be the crowd pleaser, but I'm a fan of the apps, salads and pasta dishes.
