So, I walked here from LaGuardia Airport yesterday. I have no way to verify this, but I may be the first person who has done that. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by everything about this place. It was an extremely clean, modern place with nice stonework, a cool little wine bar, and a full dining room.
The pizza was awesome. I mean, really good. I know everyone has got their own opinion about NY pizza, but this is definitely up there with any of the big boys in Manhattan in terms of quality and taste. Although I only had the pizza this time around, the couple next to me was raving about the food (they were clearly Italian, so they have some credibility there) and it looked really good.
Pricing is unreal if you are used to Manhattan prices (also I live in the Hamptons part time, so I'm no stranger to the $4 slice). Very reasonable, and you get a lot for what you pay.
Staff was friendly and accommodating and very efficient.
Next time I'm in Astoria or headed to the airport, I will definitely make this a destination. Highly recommended.
This place is fairly new and is located in a residential neighborhood right by Riker's Island. So that means they must be friendly since there customers are families and people protecting NYC from bad people. They are extremely friendly. It's not a busy joint but the people who work there are nice and the service is good. It's more like a Bar with a pizzeria in the back. So if you go there to eat don't expect a 5 star joint. It is a friendly environment, never packed because of the small clientele. They have TV's to watch sporting events.
I usually order out from this place. I usually get a pasta dish. I haven't had a bad one yet. They are all good. They also have delicious salads as well. There portions are big so your dollars are well spent and there will be left overs. This place want to take care of you. Sometimes when I order late at night, right before they are closing. They give me 3 orders of garlic knots when I order only 1 because they don't want to waste food. I like this place. It's very unknown but sometimes those are diamonds in the ruffs.
This place is more a 4 than a 5 star spot. But becouse of these negative reviewsI have to bump it up. I had the chicken parm and my wife had penna vodka and both where really good. I went back and had the alfredo and that was really good. I cant speak for the pizza but the wine food and desert where really good. At the same time i only eat pizza from a few select spots so I wouldnt even try it here. Â This place is anice casual spot where you can get a quick cheap meal. Is it the best in astoria No but no lines good prices and a quick meal gets me every time.
Review Source:Customer service is as important as the product you sell. YOU need US, Antonio's...we can get mediocre pizza anywhere.
Two hour wait for an ice cold, sloppy, greasy-ass pizza on a Wednesday night- was primed to call and cancel when the food finally arrived about the time I was ready for bed. No explanation or apology.
If you don't want to take my business seriously, that's fine. I won't put any effort into your review, either. Suck it.
5 star reviews brought to you courtesy of Antonio's owners and/or employees...so very sad...
Totally confused by the super-negative reviews of this place. Mine true rating is probably more a 4/5, but I'm giving it the extra star to make up for the hypercritical crowd. Antonio's pizza is not the greatest in the world, no, but it's pretty good. I've only ordered delivery from here, but the food I've had has been at least solid, and some of it is really great. The cannolis I've gotten from Antonio's are the best I've ever eaten, bar none. They deliver pretty quickly, too.
Review Source:Grew up just down the block from Antonios and for as long as I can remember there has been nothing walking distance worth eating. Decided to go on a recommendation from a friend and really wasn't blown away. Service was very good, although we were only ones in the place. Pizza was nothing to right home about and the personal pies were even worse.
Salad was nothing better than the average person can make at home. Complimentary cannolis at the end was a nice touch, but I doubt I ll be back.
I paid 9.00 bucks for a small personal pan that was no bigger than a microwave size personal pizza. I'd rather pay 5 bucks at Sergios and get two true NY style pizza slices. Â It is a shame because we need new places like this in the neighborhood to build up commercial and I'm sure they invested a lot to open and renovate the place. Â It will probably stay open for a while because even the dump "Gyro Express" down the street manages to stay open. Antonio's was empty when I walked in and got my 9.00 slice of plain bread crust with no flavor and pile of processed cheese so take that as a sign.
Review Source:Salad was good, pizza not so much. Â It didn't have any of the qualities you expect from a brick oven pizza. Â The dough was not crispy, the sauce had no depth of flavor, the mozzarella was definitely not fresh (more like that orangey kind you see in cheap places), and the pepperoni had no real interest. Â It was like they just gave me store bought frozen pizza.
I don't think this place will last that long. Â It's a shame.
For the best brick oven pizza in the area I would stick to Forno Italia.
Awesome new addition to the neighborhood~!! Â Delicious pizza, awesome Tuscan wings and some of the best fresh made pasta and breads!! Â In 2 weeks they've been open, I've been there 4 times already. Â
Not to mention a great bar with craft beers and nice wine. Â The only place of it's kind in the neighborhood. Â Total neighborhood gem!!
