Overpriced and disappointing. Plating was a little too cute, favors didn't hold up.

I love Asiatique for their multiple happy hour options. But I'm not a huge fan of their brunch selection and food quality. They do offer a $3 Bloody Mary with jalapeno infused vodka that is pretty delicious. So in regards to booze, Asiatique is spot on. Food on the other hand can be hit or miss.

Asiatiques happy hour is awesome. It offers a Sunday through Friday happy hour of $4- $5 cocktails and wine from 5pm - 7pm with an extended all night happy hour on Thursdays from 5pm to close and their entire cocktail menu is available for these prices.

What really sets Asiatique apart from other upscale restaurants and bars is the diverse appetizer selection available on special for $5. In addition, the service has always been friendly and informative. I highly recommend coming here on a Thursday so that you can get the most of their diverse cocktail selection and splitting a bunch of apps with a group of friends.

    Asiatique,

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

    1. Happy hours: 5-7 pm everyday of the week at the bar and in the lounge. ALL cocktails and house glasses of wine are $4-5. ALL Appetizers are $5. With both food and drinks changing seasonally I never get tired of going back. The duck nachos have been around for a while, but it's for good reason. Get them. Don't worry about it being crowded. I've gone with larger groups several times and its always like we're having our own private party in the lounge.

    2. More happy hours: check out their website, cause they've got an additional different awesome deal every day.

    3. Brunch: $3 Bloody Mary plus amazing and creative food, never a wait, and a lovely patio which is also rarely crowded.

    4. Huge variety of seating options: bar, downstairs lounge, outdoor patio tables, and indoor table seating.

    5. I have a whole list without even having tried their main offering: dinner. Until next time...

Today we went to Asiatique for brunch to use a Seize the Deal coupon that we'd purchased.  The food was tasty; I had the vegetarian omelet with fruit and Earl Gray tea.  My partner had eggs, sausage, toast and the potato side.  And while she had been there once before for drinks, it was my first visit...and likely my last.

Although the food was pretty good the waitstaff truly creeped us out.    To begin, the waiter who greeted us at the door asked us if we had reservations, and replied audibly with "oh crap" when we said no.  The woman who served our food never refilled our waters and upon "borrowing" my phone to get the StD coupon code, walked off for ten minutes!  To say that I was uncomfortable with her having gone AWOL with my phone (and the personal information that it holds) would be an understatement.  Before leaving I spoke briefly with the manager to tell him that this was upsetting and inappropriate.  He apologized nicely and said he'd take care of it.

Maybe the waitstaff was having an off day or had been passing something around before work, I don't know.  I do have friends who love Asiatique for brunch, but I'll definitely not be heading back anytime soon.

I had greater expectaions for this place. The appetizers were Applebee's caliber. The pan seared salmon was over done. They should know how to properly cook salmon, especially since the seared tuna came out great!

Found a new love at Asiatique - the salads.  We now come here for a light meal of appetizers, salad, good wine and relaxing outdoor patio atmosphere.  This time we got my favorite, five-spiced shrimp, and one of that night's specials, Ahi Tuna with wasabi creme fraiche.  I got the grilled peppercorn beef salad with whole grain mustard vinagrette which was delicious and my hubby got the portabello and goat cheese salad with an asian vinagrette - both were works of art.  Our server was wonderful - professional but friendly with great recommendations on food and drinks.  My only complaint would be that the prices are a bit high for the amount of food, but it is top quality and presented beautifully.  We will definitely be back, just not as often as I would like on my budget!

Brunch is mediocre.  I haven't been for dinner, but so far I think the place is overrated.

Just got back from a fantastic meal at Asiatique! Our server--Amanda R.--was wonderfully pleasant, friendly and provided us with excellent service. My wife had the five-course seafood tasting menu with the bourbon pairing, while I ordered the crab and goat cheese spring rolls, salad with duck, the rib eye, and finished with a cheese cake. Each item we ate gave us wonderful flavors and textures to savor. The dishes were inventive and daring without being over the top. The accompanying sauces were chosen with care. And, my wife quite enjoyed the selection of bourbons :) All in all an excellent experience, and--if we are ever in the Louisville area again--we will certainly come back!

    Sunday Brunch Review

I saw so many good reviews about this place, we went out of our way to stop by for Sunday brunch. Unfortunately it was not worth the drive. If you are looking for a leftover Chinese breakfast then this is the brunch for you. Asiatique does have the classic breakfast staples, but I think we should have gone more in the lunch mind frame then breakfast. Service was great, coffee was hot, atmosphere was pleasant, but I am not certain if I will return for breakfast again here.

I am interested in coming back for an Asian infused dinner special, because I can see the potential of a great meal. I hope to update Yelp with those reviews soon.

Well now you've done it, Asiatique. You should be very proud, and I'm proud I had you -- and will have you over and over. The regular guy or gal would look at the prospect of putting together a brunch menu and stick with the classics. I mean... it's hard to screw up a meal that's typically had after sleeping in, maybe a mimosa, or after church where everyone is hopped up on prayer. Most would stick every single butter sticked pan classic that you see everywhere else... you can't blame 'em really -- unless they screw up the classics. That... you don't have to worry about happening here. Asiatique... what did you do... You've taken brunch and made it your bitch.

A Viet crepe with tiger prawns and ham, vermicelli noodles, spring mix and a sweet chili jam. You happily take my poached egg request, I break that over the crepe and Ho. Chi. Win.

Ma & Pa Louisville are probably giving you some looks when they see your dishes -- and then they're going to stare at all those diners eating your pistachio pancakes & creative dishes rather than the ole Denver Omelette. Plus, they're going to look at your decor and wonder if brunch has ever even been served in an Asian-inspired setting. There was something terrific that happened for me when we went... because I didn't think they'd have brunch at all on first sight... when I walked in, I sort of felt like we were being treated to our own special midday treat that was closed to the public.

I fear that this place will become as overrun as Lousiville's other brunch mainstays... however, those $3 bloody marys are going to stem the throbbing tide.
They're house infusing vodka with peppers & chiles for their bloody marys (or, say, a post meal shot?). I will most certainly return for a patio brunch in the spring, and I will linger just as much as this meal has stayed with me two weeks later.

To adequately show my appreciation for this spot, I have to start with one of the very few complaints that I have with Louisville, a poor hungover brunch scene. The spots that do serve a decent brunch are so few and far inbetween that they are overrun by the time I painfully wake up on a Sunday afternoon. It feels like making a visit to the ER, my head is split in two and I have to wait for like 4 hours in a hectic waiting room to get some service and overpriced meds (bloody marys.) So, bringing it back to why I love Asiatique, Sunday brunch is calm, delicious, quick as you like it, and affordable. Our waiter, Adrian, was phenomenal- he kept the coffee flowing, made sure we were always squared away with everything we may need, and was able to chime in and chat us up, crack some jokes and liven our bleary moods up while our food was being prepared.

To reach into specifics, the ambiance is perfect for a soothing brunch, the colors are dark and not loud, the music is jazzy and chill (not WAKE UP WAKE UP it's the MORNING tunes, which I appreciate) the booths are plush and comfy, the menu whips ass with omelette ingredients ranging from normal to hell yeah including goat cheese, shrimp, and scallops. To cap it off, the most expensive brunch item is $10.50. You can't beat that at ANY brunch spot, including the really crappy ones- ahem Highland Morning. Last thing I'm gonna say, the bloody marys were only $3 a pop and were delicious (goat cheese stuffed olives yummm!)

I have died and gone to brunch heaven. Seriously, this is the best brunch experience I've ever had. Who would have guessed Asiatique would be the place for this coveted meal?! Friendly and patient service, even though we were those people that showed up at 2:30 when brunch ends at 3. We got a plush, comfy booth, attentive service. It felt like we were at a high end, high dollar spot, but in actuality their creative and extensive menu offered most everything cheaper than most Louisville brunch spot staples! I was shocked and thrilled. 5-10 bucks for pretty much everything! And the 10 dollar ticket items were very high end. I got the seafood omelet and it made my week. Fresh shrimp, scallops, crab - those are not cheap ingredients. And the crab wasn't the cheap-o stuff, it was legit. Flaky, tender, and flavorful. I subbed the scallions for mushrooms and seriously couldn't have been happier with my dish.

Oh, did I mention my fantastico blackberry muffin that came with it? How did you cook it and still retain the form of the blackberries so well Asiatique? So tasty.

And a very important piece to any good brunch - the Bloody Mary. It. Was. Awesome. Very flavorful, good punch to it, but not going to leave your mouth on fire. Love the tall thin glass to maintain the pepper and such in a smaller surface area on the bottom. And the green olives were stuffed....with goat cheese! The gates to heaven opened in their presence. And the most awesome part of all? This bloody mary so nicely crafted came in at $3. THREE DOLLARS. They are 6 plus all over town.

Oh how I love thee, Asiatique brunch!

I end up here almost every Christmas Eve with my wife's family. I really like the food, it's quality Asian Fusion and everything I've had here is solid. It's definitely trendy, but worth a stop.

Oh, Asiatique, I really want to give you a 5 star, as I have some good memory with friends in your lounge and dinning room. However 3 star is the only rating I can give you on this most recent visit to celebrate the Christmas & New Year.

Start with the deco, please someone help these guys to remodel the dinning room. For a fusion restaurant, the deco here is outdated, cheap, and not classy at all. For the first time visitor, you maybe impressed by the bar in the front door, but that's about it.

Move on to the food, If I spend 70+ on a dinner for a 5 course tasting menu with wine, I was ready to be impressed. Maybe my expectation is too high. I ordered five-course medley (meat and seafood) tasting. There are few good dishes, like the grill tilapia with the creamy sauce, the salad with seared raw rib-eye, the diver's scallop on japanese seaweed. However there are quite a few misses, the roasted quail is a little spicy? Unusual, why not just grill with soy sauce? I though this is a Asian restaurant? I'd like something that can brings some Asian memory back, even this is fusion. Other dishes are turns out just ok, like the dry rib eye, the mushroom soup, the ok presentation 4 piece combination desert. As a huge desert fan, there is not one desert out of 4 worth mention here.

The waiter is nice and knowledgeable about every course of the dinner.

Well, I have a coupon on the night so I'm not as regret as I'm paying full. But I remember I tasted an amazing salmon meal couple years ago, and the best days may have passed for Asiatique?

For Asian Fusion restaurant, try Basa Modern Vietnamese on frankfort Ave. Your money will be better spent.

There are still hope for this restaurant, however it just not taste right. Try harder chef!

i met up with an old friend for dinner this past sunday (9/25/11).  it was drizzly and chilly and i was anxious to get inside and get a cocktail into my system.  while i waited for my friend i studied the menu, this was my first visit to this incarnation of chef looi's version of fusion cuisine and i was getting seriously hungry.  when we were making plans to come here, my friend kept bringing up the bbq ribs, saying absurd things like "they are a life experience".  at last he arrived and over a really yummy fume blanc we decided on the ribs (natch) an order of cha gio (two shrimp and pork spring rolls) with a sweet chili and basil dipping sauce.  my friend and i both said the sauce was a little miracle.  we then shared the field greens with roasted duck, goat cheese, pistachio "dust" and finished with a delicately sweet hoisin truffle vinaigrette. we also shared the grilled mahi mahi which was served with beautful matchstick cuts of zucchini and squash and tiny baby corn and pencil asparagus tips.  the plate was artistically arranged with a painted swoosh of the plum wine reduction beside the fish.  i will say the fish was a bit over cooked, but that was the only misstep of the entire meal.

we decided to skip the tempting desserts and we both had vietnamese coffee. it was the perfect choice to end the meal.

now, let me tell you about the service. in a word, phenomenal.  our server, charlie was attentive, funny, informative and an absolute pleasure.  he knew when to stop and refill our wine glasses or when to just pass on by.  he made the asiatique evening that much better.

and yes, the ribs were a life experience

It's ok, nothing special.  For what we experienced, we might go back, but only if someone else was paying.  Our waiter was great as was the host.  The decor is pretty nice, obviously a lot of work went into it.  The table was tilted but not wobbly, the water in my glass was how I noticed, very noticeable.

I had the chicken satay app and Janel had the shrimp app.  Both were good, but I've made better satay at home.  There was a 30 minute wait between our apps and entrees, way too long.

For entrees, Janel had the Ahi tuna and it was really really good (I tried it) and I got the duck.  I was very disappointed.  The skin and fat wasn't rendered, and the duck was overcooked (obviously cooked off in the oven and they sliced it before cooking it off too).  Aesthetically the plate didn't look very impressive either.  For the first time in a long time, I sent food back and explained exactly why to the server.  I ended up with the scallop and shrimp stir fry (they call it something else fancy).  While it was ok, it wasn't anything special and no different than a scallop/shrimp dish at a Chinese take-out joint.  Dinner for two was $110 with tip.

Asiatique isn't the most innovative fusion restaurant, and they don't have the most immaculately designed and decorated location, and they don't have the most mind-blowing cocktails.  But... they only barely fall short of the "outstanding" mark.  The decor, food, and drinks are all very good (if not the number 1 best).  I had the 5 spice shrimp for an appetizer and the seared tuna for dinner.  The portions were just the right size, and they dishes were both delicious.  I had a Gin Blossom to drink and it was pretty good (though no side-car, as reported by some other patrons).

Bottom line - it's not "the best" at what it tries to do, but it's certainly near the top of the list.  Tasty and well worth the trip.  I hope I can go back for happy hour sometime, as it sounds like a great deal.

I've been here 3x, and on this last time I think this place has lost it's edge a bit-

The cocktails are made using fresh ingredients- love it..  We've been pleased with several of the apps on various occasions, and overall the food is seasoned Very well. Service has been great on every visit.

However, all of the entrees seem to have a sweet element and have lost their asian-inspired edge.  Was also slightly disappointed with  their 'B' rating.  I think at one time they were quite The innovative place, ...not so much.

Go for happy hour- great drinks, great small bites, give them some time to improve the dinner menu.

Oh man...where do I start on this one? There was a time where Asiatique had it going on...and well, that time has gone (our last trip the food was subpar...but we really wanted it to be delicious as this spot used to rock). We walked in after a movie for drinks and small bites. They have a "B" posting. We were not sure we wanted to proceed. But, we did. Walked in to a wafting strong bleach smell...a little off putting, but hey, they killed something, right?

Hmmm...well...how do I say this? This dining experience was probably the worst experience EVER! Our server was condescending and over the top rude. I could really give a lot of detail here...but, it was so bad that you may not believe it. So...

The manager was kind and understanding and took care of our 2 bowls of soup, and this tofu concoction and the wine....we usually order lots of small bites, but couldn't get past the server's extremely poor behavior and lack of basic manners.

We will not be back for a while, if at all.

Aisatique is perhaps the most innovative Asian restaurant in Louisville.

My girlfriend and I visited on a Saturday night. I immediately appreciated the service. Our waiter was polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. We decided to taste two separate five course tasting menus with wine pairings. We had one of the medley (meat and fish) and one of the seafood. There was also a vegetarian option.

I was very impressed with the wine pairings. We were presented with Riesling, Pinot, Shiraz, Chardonnay, and a few blends. The reds were delicious and the whites were better than I've had anywhere else (no over oaked Chards here!).

The food was beautifully plated and the sauces and soups really stood out. The downside was with the sharing approach we took we experienced some fatigue of the palette. Let's just say we were served quite a few scallops. Also, although the food was well prepared, the dishes we were served were merely good- not outstanding. Nothing really challenged my palette. The dessert sampler was probably the most creative dish and absolutely delicious- a real treat.

The restaurant is stylish, but the interior is nothing standout (aside from the spectacular glass bar). The service was excellent. The food met our expectations but did not exceed them, which at this pricepoint is something of a disappointment.

My friend and i dined at Asiatique on a Monday night around 7. We got cocktails while looking over the menu -- I got the strawberry rhubarb: Eagle Rare bourbon with strawberry puree and rhubarb bitters. Delicious! My friend recommended getting the five-course tasting menu with wine pairing and I chose the mixed one (seafood and meat -- there is also a vegetarian one and a seafood one), and it was fantastic. I enjoyed everything I got except for the duck (which my friend greatly enjoyed - i'm just not a fan of duck, but the sauce was delicious). The dishes had a wide variety -- beef tenderloin, tuna steak, scallops, pork, crab, lamb, duck and i'm sure I forgot something. My favorite was probably the lamb chop in a espresso cabernet sauce.

Make sure to save room for dessert. With the tasting menu, it was a sampler trio served alongside ice wine. Perfect ending.

Bonus: Part of the Louisville Originals program.

You know how sometimes when you order a milkshake at a diner, they will bring you a glass full of milkshake and then give you that silver mixing cup with more milkshake in it?  So there's like a whole bonus milkshake after you've finished your original milkshake?

Yeah, they do that at Asiatique with cocktails.  And they have half-price drinks (and appetizers) during happy hour.  So that works out to 4 asiaritas (yum!) for the price of one? A very happy hour indeed.

I also ordered the 5 spice shrimp.  The shrimp were fantastic.  Part of what sold me on the shrimp is that they were billed as being served in a sweet potato basket, and I am a sucker for a good sweet potato.  Alas, the basket made for a lovely presentation, but wasn't worth eating itself.  Don't get me wrong - you should still order the shrimp (particularly when they are half price!), just don't get your sweet potato hopes up.

Do you ever wonder what crossed Andy Dufresne's mind while he was crawling out of the miles of sewerage?

Then Asiaique is the place for you.  This place reeks of sewage, which I did not notice when I went for dancing after one so many Jameson shots.  But the odor was apparent and terrible on the second floor dining area.

Good Asian food with gaudy presentation, but the odor makes them pointless.

Skip this one, unless you want to re-live the Shawshank Redemption escape scene.

The tenderloin lemongrass beef was great, as was the scallops/shrimp with Thai basil sauce. I also got to taste the bacon wrapped pork medallions. All were excellent, although a bit overpriced in my opinion. The staff was very friendly too.

I ordered the vegetarian tasting menu.  It was true delight until about half way through in which... did they give up?  It quickly moved from very good to okay, which was a disappointment.  The wine flight that came with the tasting menu moved from excellent to awful, vinegery stuff.  The dessert (that bannana one) was just bad.  I had a mojito which was way syrupy and didn't have the fresh taste it should.

The service was deplorable.  Our waiter was very haughty and judgemental-- he actually sneered and glared at us at one point because we wanted an extra spoon to taste each other's food.  It was completely uncalled for.  For the service alone, I would never return.

Order the tasting menu - it is more food than you can imagine for a pretty good price ($45 or $40).  I've been here twice.  Once I got the tasting menu which was ridiculous.  I'm used to small portions and I dont know what they are thinking but it was a TON of food.  I actually couldn't finish all my courses.

The menu is a little overwhelming because everything seems so good and its hard to choose.  Last time I was there I ordered off the menu instead of the tasting menu - but next time I'm doing the 5 courser again.

Has that "Design on a Dime" feel.  The food was good, but nothing spectacular.  Also, not many dishes for vegetarians or people who don't eat fish.  Drink menu was exhaustive, the bar looked better than the restaurant.

Awesome food.  And they cater to the service industry, so they're open hella late and have a great bar and loud music and a dark room with couches and dancing space.
