Barnaby's USED to have the best french dip...its gotten worse and the price has slightly increased. Coupled with the overabundance of big beer (budmillercoors) and way too many IPA's, for a stout and bock fan like I am, their beer selection leaves much to be desired. (I had heard rumors that if they got something nice, the bartenders would shuttle it away in their cars). Gets really packed on a game night, even in the dining area, and makes it tough to want to bring the family in. Its at least better than cooking.
Review Source:Barnaby's  in the Havertown area is the place you want to be at. A great place to enjoy any kind of event to a casual get together. Great bars , 3 to be exact located in this establishment.  If you are crazy about any of the sporting events and can't get to the venue, than this is where you want to be. They also have a great happy hour going on over here, so why not cruise on in. Â

                     *** The Deck, Bar 1 ***
How can you go wrong, with that huge deck with flat screens hanging everywhere outside. It is built to satisfy you in all types of weathers, from that early spring to late fall with the heat lamps, down to the cintrella torches.  Picture it, you are sitting outside, catching a game , enjoying the time with your loved one , the company of friends enjoying life. Their kitchen makes some great dishes for you to eat and enjoy. These guys have some great bartenders slinging out your favorite crafts or  concoctions  .  Just sitting at that ginormous bar or high table nothing can compare to the outside festivities they offer.
                    *** The Main Entrance, Bar 2 ***
As  you enter Barnaby's you are greeted with a hostess who is protecting that take section like it was life. There is another bar located to your left with seating outlining it.  Great selection of taps, fully stocked to keep the party going. Plenty of seating as in booths and tables if your not into sitting at the bar with a plethora of TVs. No matter where you sit bar or table you have a great vantage point. To the right as you enter is the dining room where you can escape the madness of the raging sports fan. ( I am one of those fans mind you )
                    *** The Down Stairs, Bar 3 ***
This is where everyone who wants to do a little boogie goes.  Downstairs also another good sized bar with a little more. This area has a pool tables , some sporting games and provides a D.J. for the tiny dancer in you. The area does attract a crowd where the women finally have  " their time " after the game has ended. If the women are forced to sit with their boyfriend or husband for 2-3 hours, guys you can do the same for her.
Barnaby's has one of the biggest parking lots that is cut into 2 sections. If the main lot is full  you can cross over into the secondary one. Sometimes when both are full you can park at the hospital located next door.
They have a great staff, great food from the appetizers down to the desserts, plenty of TVs. Another plus is that they have great access points coming off the blue rt. so there is no confusion, you can't get lost.
Go in, enjoy a few libations , or go and dance if you want. I won't stop you, you might even see me on the deck or inside.

So I'm stopping in with friends from out of town so understand I'm not a regular. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and attentive. We started out at the outside bar until we got cold, they Judy enclosed the outside and added heaters but they weren't on this fall day. We moved inside to the bar food was good and TVs carrying all the fall football games were everywhere. Saturdays Bud Lights are $2.50. We had a fun time with friends and if we're back in town hope to go again!
Review Source:This one is difficult to rate. Â I came here for a happy hour the week between Christmas and New Year. Â I didn't like the vibe personally, but all the people there seemed jovial and doing well. Â Barnaby's isn't my speed, but I stayed to see friends. Â First thing, we were shown to a quasi-outdoor area, i.e. the smoking section. Â It was the only area where we could be seated for happy hour at 6:00pm. Â After making the quick choice to head inside and stay near the rear of the bar without seats, we wanted to order food. Â I opted not to eat because the menu looked pretty rough, all things considered -- typical bar food, but nothing very appetizing. Â Deep fried, cheese whiz smothered bites. Â
The bar is arranged so that the kitchen is in the back right corner. So, if any food is ordered, or more ice is needed for the bar, it has to go through a packed house. Â This is not conducive to good conversations, relaxing, and having a comfortable time. As for the food and friends, they thought the food was fine, but a little greasy, beers were fairly priced, and the layout was a bit bothersome.
Overall, it's not my speed, but it seems like if you get there early enough it could be enjoyable. From this one-off experience, I wasn't impressed. 12 thumbs down for the smoking section, too. Blech.
Nice mainstream bar. Been going here since my college days and have been a fan of their half off apps and blue moon Tuesdays. This location houses an older crowd bu it doesn't bother me. Food has become par over the years as the selections aren't robust. It gets lost between a sports bar and family restaurant. Overall not a bad spot
Review Source:Haven't been in a few years but a trusted source told me the menu had been updated and the food had improved. The place was packed and I do love to sit on their deck, even though they do not have waitress service outside.
Highlights - our server was friendly and hustling. There are lots of TVs indeed. Not much else to smile about.
We went for the Philly's Best Wings and some Macho Nachos to soak up a couple of craft beers from their decent selection. The Wings were meaty but unworthy of the premier billing. The nachos were well south of that. My clean-o-meter was swinging between yellow and red all night.
Solid bar with standard fare. I wasn't blown away by any of the few menu items I ordered on a few different occasions. Prices of some food items seem way out of control: my prime example. Crab fries 6.99$ what?! It's a 20 cent potato fried in hot oil with 15 cents of old bay shaken onto the top dozen French fries, oh yeah they put nacho cheese sauce on them.
The drinks were good, bartenders friendly and mostly attentive. Â My favorite thing about this bar is the feel. Down stairs is all about fun, good music, small dance floor, shuffle board, billiards, large bar for the space... Good times for all!
Upstairs is all about the sports! Plenty of large TVs with many games on, a few games to play and again, another large bar. Â Also tables for larger tables. Â Cannot speak to the deck because i was here just after the new years. Â Although I here it is nice.
Very pleased with my visit, we will return, but it's a bit out of the way for a special trip.
Beers are cheap, liquor you pay for!
Food is mediocre (yes it's a meat market bar/grill but you CAN do good food in such places, they just don't).
Beer sometimes tastes odd if from taps.
Outdoor deck is nice; largely why people go there.
Service is mixed: sometime nice, often not.
The place has a smell - likely thanks to draught beer.
Worst thing about Barnaby's? Â The bathrooms. Â The men's room is never clean enough and reeks of who knows what. Â It smells like a port-a-potty on a hot summer's day. Â "Oh it's a men's room in a bar, what do you expect?" one might say. Â Screw that. Â Power wash it down and/or renovate immediately.
A long time ago my wife and I had an exceptionally good meal at the Barnaby's on Rt 202 down by Glen Mills (long gone now): a 5-star experience across the board. When we moved to Havertown, we were thrilled to have our very own Barnaby's almost within walking distance of our new home. Yay!
Alas, there are no heroes in the world of local chain restaurants. Several happy hours and a couple of meals later, my wife and I were forced to revise our ratings of the mighty Barnaby's franchise: slide that 5-star arrow all the way left, folks--this place is TERRIBLE. The only thing "up" about THIS Barnaby's is the food, usually within 5 to 10 minutes of swallowing it (I'm not kidding here: in two of the four or so times I've sat down to a meal here, someone in my party actually VOMITED at/on the table). The optimist would say that this reflects well on Barnaby's consistency (the pessimist probably wouldn't say anything--he'd be too busy fighting to keep his food down). It is so bad that it became a joke in our household to say "let's just go to BARNABY'S" whenever we couldn't think of what to do for a meal.
God help me, but tonight I broke my 7-year streak of avoiding this place. Maybe it was the sparkling new deck they've built (with a beautiful view of the parking lot, a car wash, and the Route 3/Route 476 interchange), maybe it was the oversized inflatable basketball on the roof, or maybe it was just a softening of my heart (or skull). But I just couldn't quit you, Barnaby's. So I dragged my two dear friends along to give you another chance. Surely you could muster just PASSABLE beer, burgers, and wings? [buzzer sound]
I have to wrap this review up, as I feel another another wave of searing abdominal pains coming on (seriously!). The beer was beery enough, the salad was literally nothing more than crosscut iceberg lettuce, the burgers were unremarkable but inoffensive (that's GOOD for Barnaby's), and the wings were described by our party as "sandy," "like liver," "old tasting," "fleshy" (NOT as a compliment), and "oh my God, my insides hurt." Â
Not sure if Yelp will let me give zero stars, so if you see any stars highlighted with this review, know that Yelp MADE me do that. Really, I'd like to assign this place the Mr. Yuk label. Remember those from the 1970s? They were excellent! You could write the state Poison Control Center and get a whole sheet of stickers and everything. If you could do that now, you could EAT the stickers and know that you were getting a better-tasting and less-gastrointestinally excruciating meal than you'd get at Barnaby's.
Local bar feel with your normal menu and drink selections....
Nothing fancy or special. Â You can expect your regular bar items and a neighborhood bar feel.
Tuesday specials are just soo worth it, but I'll never come on a regular night or weekend. Â This place is good for a quick mediocre meal and cheap drinks.
This location and the other Barnay's I have been too are both very similar. They have multiple rooms, a large bar, lots of tv's for watching your team and a general selection of beer and food. Not a ton I can eat, but that is just like any main stream bar or pub. As Steve B. says they do have ample parking and great location near major roads. One time I was here during the playoffs, the bar was packed but the is nothing wrong with that, as the service didn't change. Overall an ok place for a beer.
Review Source:If you are looking for sports bar paradise Barnaby's may send you into ecstasy! Â There are two sides to this place; the bar and the restaurant. Â This review is just for the bar and it is about as good as it gets for suburban sports bars. Â Let's look at why these guys have been packing them in for 15 years.
* Easy access 30 seconds off the Blue Route exit for Havertown.
* A giant parking lot.
* About a bazillion TVs that are nicely labeled on game days. Â You are definitely going to see your game here.
* Competent bartenders. Â Many have been there for over five years. Â It doesn't hurt that lots of them are beautiful women.
* Gastro Pub food. Â Way better than your usual bar food. Â The entire restaurant menu is available at the bar. Â House made soups that are excellent. Â Special requests are no problem. Â Want your burger "Cajun"? Â No problem. Â They'll make it happen. Â Cheesesteak eggrolls are to die for. Â They are house made and served with this incredible spicy ketchup.
If you are in the burbs and looking for a game day venue, Barnaby's may be just the place!
oh, Barnaby's ... what's happened? Â You were my solid four-star sports bar next door. Â We used to *love* this place and we probably stopped in two or 3 times a month on average. Â But there is a steady, undeniable erosion of quality here ... in every department. Â
Food was always solid pub food ... you could never fail with a burger or chicken sandwich, an entree salad or a big plate of wings. Â But I've had way too many misses lately ... the wings were bland and chewy, the fries limp, and omg ... the crab cake that I specifically asked our server about was a travesty to the culinary world. Â a few shrapnel slivers of crab strands in a two inch disk of filler? Â and throw it onto a 4 inch soft white roll? Â It was god-awful and highway robbery at $11 for the sandwich, $22 for two cakes for dinner. Â
We also noticed the table had not been sufficiently cleaned before our seating (though the place was almost empty) and the menus could have been wiped down. Â (these are pet peeves of mine, but I don't think it's too much to ask to experience a clean environment when dining out). Â
Service was stellar, thank you Keira .. the only redeeming aspect of the evening was your smile and friendly nature. Â But stop recommending the crab cake. Â ;)
My local hangout if I just want to relax and grab a drink with a couple of friends. Â I have to say the staff is attentive and nice. Â I usually go just to watch the game or just to chill out. Â I have tried the food a couple of times and have to say its mediocre at best but the menu selection is expansive so alot of items you can choose from. Â For a neighborhood bar it is good, so if you live in the neighborhood and just want to have a chill night out I recommend this place
Review Source:Barnaby's is a sports bar as you all know, and what comes with most sports bars are dirty tables. the table was sticky and the booth we had was extremely uncomfortable. The waitress was nice though, she came by often to see if we needed anything.
The best order we had was the Nachos which were BANGING... the beer was good as well but its beer how can you get it wrong. they don't offer pitchers on saturdays for some reason, which disappointed us. it was a nice relaxing atmosphere though. I would probably go back here only to drink a beer and have some nachos.
This is the epitome of Delaware County, from the beer selection, menu,
bartenders/wait staff, and most importantly, the crowd.
Beer selection is what you would expect, nothing great, but they have the usual suspects.
Menu is a little more expansive than your normal "bar menu", with that said the food is nothing better than normal "bar food".
Be careful you don't stick to the tables, bar or floor.
Claims to be a sports bar, but really it's a dive bar. The wait staff seemed nice enough, the food is reasonably priced, but the quality is questionable at best. Beer selection is a joke, but that's not really too important in such a place.
Basically the night I went (a Saturday) it was packed with slutty women and drunks to the brim. There are bouncers everywhere. behind the bars, at the doors, and in the bathrooms. While there I witnessed one man get arrested and another complete drunk try to fight with me over the pool table. I may be generalizing, but that seems to be a fair representation of the rest of the crowd.
This is a cool friday night or saturday night spot if you are in the area, and one of the more happening places on route 3 around the 476 entrance. Â
The food is standard gastro pub stuff, wings, cheese steak egg rolls, nachos. The beer selection is a-ok, sierra nevada pale ale, lager, sam adams seasonal, and the rest of the generic beer bunch, nothing to write home about at all.
If you want a good time, and have time to kill, then why not Barnaby's...
Have been here a handful of times for different reasons. Â Mostly I go for Happy Hours with my friends after work. Â I have also been there a couple times for lunch and dinner.
They make the best Kamikaze shot around (not that I have them a lot) LOL. Â The food is better than bar food but still typical for a bar/restaurant, lots of variety and cooked well. Â They make amazing nachos and burgers. Â
I would recommend going here for a good time and good food. Â Nothing particularly special about this place - Just an overall good time.
Can get a little noisy for me - but that's a bar right?!
I enjoy this place when I want to take my family out for a bite to eat or if i want to go watch the game with a few friends .
The bar and the dinning room are separated and the food is pretty decent. i love the cheese steak egg rolls and the beer selection is fantastic.
More than a sports bar, it's a good destination for a night out with friends or a place to take the family and get some good grub.
They have decent burgers, and appetizers. Â They used to have amazing "Jamaican jerk wings" but they took them off the menu for some reason- but they were delicious. Â I went here for lunch today ,and I got a Cowboy Burger (burger, bacon, cheddar cheese, onion tumbleweeds) which was quite tasty. Â However, I immediately regretted my choice as soon as I finished eating - there happened to be an extreme excess of cheddar cheese that my stomach decided it was not happy with. Overall, it's decent food - not anything I'd go out of my way for but a quick lunch meet-up or dinner isn't bad. Â My brother and mom have both had multiple bad experiences with the food here, which is why I stick with burgers or appetizers, very difficult to screw that up - although quite possible. Â The french fries that came with the burger were awesome, too.
Review Source:We went there on a Friday evening about 6;30, there was about 10 of us. I ordered the Pubster sandwich that described the sandwich as "shaved rib piled high on a bun'. I could not wait to get it as I was hungry. That was the worst sandwich, the meat was sliced thick and sliced with the grain and could not chew it. I went to the mngr and told him as I did not want to make a sceen at the table. He said "to tell you the truth you got a regular roast beef sandwich, we ran out of the rib" He took it off the bill but I was extremly dissapointed. Must have been a pound of meat. I tried a crab cake that someone else gave me and it was a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I had the cheddar/mushroom/dried tomato soup, it was the best soup (except lobster bisque in a fancy rest) I ever ever had! Waitress was very pleasant and quick. I would never go back again except to get that soup. The frech fries were piled so high on my plate, all 10 of us could not have finished them, why so many?
Review Source:Barnaby's is a dump disguised as a sports bar. I guess if you pile in enough drunkards the magic trick works. We literally had to move a wretched-smelling trash can away from the only two available tables and personally wipe down the least disgusting of the two. From there we had to go to the bar to get our own menus, go back up to order our drinks, and back up again to order our food. The food (caesar wrap + sliders) was as bland as the service. Dull and disgusting all around. The only reason this place gets 2 stars (instead of 1) is: (1) because they have a photo booth, and (2) because the dj announced over the microphone for my boyfriend and I to "get a room" after he noticed us making out in the parking lot. It's a good story, but seriously Barnaby's - where's the love?
