$7 can buy you a lot of meals these days. You could purchase a $5 Subway footlong with a bag of Doritos and talk about how healthy you are for eating fresh. You could have it your way at Burger King and get a Whopper Value Meal with a side of gross. You could head for the border and order up a septet (that means 7 for all you illiterate type) of tacos at Taco Bell. Or you could go to Findlay Market and have a pasta made to order that will seriously change your life (probably not) and change the way you look at pasta (probably definitely).
Prior to discovering Bouchard's I was somewhat pasta challenged. As a kid I used to get excited about going to Olive Garden which I now believe to be the worst chain in the world, nay, the universe, because surely intelligent life on other planets can't have food that's worse than Olive Garden. In recent years I've grown accustom to cooking Italian at home using boxed dry pasta and a jar of Prego which isn't too bad if you are poor or have the palate of a tongueless gimp. From time to time I would splurge and go to some high end Italian restaurants and happily drop 20 clams on a perfect plate of pasta. But then I discovered Bouchard's.
Simply put, Bouchard's is the shiznit. For $7 you get homemade pasta, homemade sauce and fresh ingredients. And the best part is you get to pick what you want in your pasta by using an order pad and checking off the ingredients you want. Couldn't be simpler and it couldn't taste better. Seriously, to say this is the best pasta I've had in my life feels like I'm doing this place a massive injustice. It's that good!
And if that's not enough they sell all their homemade pastas and sauces in jars so you can take it back home to your trailer (or 4 bedroom estate if you're like me) and live like a Northern Italian prince with pasta that only the finest gold and riches can buy. I know I'm hyping this place up but the hype is real. Go to Bouchard's and see why 20 other Yelpers are giving this place 5 stars!
Bouchard's. Your name is deceiving, your stand should be called, "Home made pasta oasis that has the best, most flavorful, yummiest, orgasmic, most delicious pasta on the PLANET stand." Ok I realize it might be a bit long from a marketing standpoint, but now that people know the truth I can continue on...
Bouchard's has always had 5 stars on Yelp since before I can remember. I decided to stop by to see what all the buzz is about and now I know why. Growing up my family always made fresh pasta, from scratch so I can appreciate all the work, not to mention time, that this process takes. Not all pasta tastes the same, we can all agree on that. But Bouchard's does it right. Not only do they have authentic fettuccine, linguini, ravioli, etc. They have crazy good inventive, and seasonal types of pasta. Ex: Pumpkin gnocchi, butternut squash ravioli, goat cheese and roasted red pepper ravioli, and garlic and chive fettuccine.
I typically never buy sauce from a store, actually I never do. I make it home made whether it's pesto, alfredo, or any red sauce. I am never satisfied with the flavor unless I can tweak it on my own. Pretty picky about my pasta dangit, and rightfully so. Fresh sauce makes the world of a difference. And since I was seeing all the amazing home made pasta staring me down in their case, I thought okay just this once I will buy the sauce they are recommending and just see what they are all about.
So here's what I purchased: The Garlic Parmesan Alfredo sauce (BIG), the Garlic and Parsley Fettuccine, and the classic potato gnocchi.
The pasta is good for about a week, and you can totally freeze it too. We made ours on a lazy Sunday afternoon and it was not only the easiest thing I've ever made, but the most delicious!! The texture of the pasta was light and fluffy, and when you have home made pasta it makes you NEVER want to eat store bought pasta again. Â And for the price, you really don't have to! Our meal was about $7 total for FRESH made pasta, and the sauce. I just kept saying to my boyfriend, "How is this possible?!!!"
The flavor of the sauce by the way was out of this world. I did not even add a pinch of salt. Like I said I am kind of a picky sauce perfectionist and this did not need anything! You could see the fresh chunks of garlic, and when you warmed up the sauce in pan, the fragrance just came to life.
Hat's off to this little stand for staying true and authentic, when so many others aren't. Keep doing what you are doing and I will keep coming back.
The sauces from Bouchard's should come with warning labels! I'm telling you - they are dangerous! This past weekend I purchased a pound of gnocchi and a large container of the butternut squash/goat cheese sauce - oh my God....I barely have the words to write this review.
The sauce is SO GOOD that I have to stop myself from eating it with a spoon out of the fridge...doesn't matter that it's cold! It's SO GOOD! The salespeople are super helpful and recommend all kinds of combinations upon request.
I'm already contemplating a return trip sometime later this week. Absolutely delicious! I really want to try their lunch options that everyone else wrote reviews about!
We got the pizza dough and pesto for about $6 and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Something about that dough! And the pesto.
I've also tried their lunch. They give you a list of options you want in your pasta, salad, or flatbread pizza. I chose a linguini pasta. Unlimited toppings for $7! I waited less than 10 minutes and it was ready. And I couldn't finish it because the portion size is generous. Not sure what more you could ask for? Uh, except that I wish they had more sauce options since I hear they're amazing. But I suppose that's for lazy people to get off their asses and heat their own pasta sauce after buying it from Bouchard's.
Definitely want to try their flatbread pizza. Like, right now.
Haven't been there? Go there... Now! Seriously, I don't know how I went 20+ years without having a place to get individual portions of homemade pasta, sauce, and desserts. I haven't had a bad or even average item from the place.
Their white chocolate bread pudding almost deserves a review of its own. It's probably meant to be shared... okay, it's definitely meant to be shared, but holy Sh*t, it is soooo freaking good. I haven't had it in a few months because I put on 15-20 Midwest winter pounds as soon as I got up here and I attribute half of them to Bouchard's bread pudding. Nevertheless, I would drive up there and eat one right now if I was willing to deal with the Saturday mayhem at Findlay Market.
I should also mention that they make lunch items for pick-up or while you wait and I'm sure they're equally delicious, but I haven't tried any of them yet as my heart is still stuck on Areti's gyros.
I like to visit this place for lunch every now and then. They have tasty create-your-own flat bread pizzas or pasta with many options for toppings. Â This is great and all, but it doesn't really matter. Â The awesome stuff that they offer is the pasta and sauces. Â They offer a dozen or so different raviolis - my favorite is the sun-dried tomato one, but the garlic egg plant is amazing too. Â They also have a nice selection of sauces.
Review Source:This is one of my go-tos at Findlay Market. While they sell a variety of things, including prepared hot dishes, fresh pasta, and cookies. I'm sure everything they have is delicious, but the only thing we've tried are the fresh pastas and sauces. One bundle makes a great side dish. We typically buy a couple of bundles and then ask them to recommend a sauce that will go well with your pasta choice. I've never been disappointed with their recommendation!
Our favorite combo: pumpkin pasta (only available in the fall) and butternut squash cream sauce
Fresh home made pasta, expertly paired with a home made sauce. Â
You too can look like a culinary genius by simply walking up to the counter, placing your order, and asking what sauce goes best with it. Â They've never led me wrong. Â 2 bundles and a sauce container, and a couple of sausages from Kroger & Sons, and you have an epic meal that's not very difficult. Â
so what if they're steelers fans? Â Can i give them a 4.5?
Things here are to your liking, which is always good when surronded (and tempted) by food galore. I like the flat breads; my boyfriend raves about the pasta. Serving size on both is generous and you pick what they put on it. A good option when you're hungry and overwhelmed by all the good food to eat. Their quality is solid.
Review Source:We were at Findlay market today and got some pasta to take home (We were helped immediately, despite the crazy crowds everywhere at the market)... So good! We got the spinach fettucini and raviolis to go with the vodka sauce. Yum. Will definitely have to try eating in house on a less crazy day.
Review Source:Just finished eating pasta with Bouchard's goat cheese and butternut squash sauce. Â Amazing. Â One of the best, if not best, sauce I've had. Â I also had their roasted garlic pasta the other night (served with Kroger & Son's chicken basil sausage and olive oil)... also amazing. Â And finally, I picked up their roasted garlic butter that I've had with jasmine rice, as well as sweet potatoes. Â I don't know how I'd ever go back to regular pasta or sauce... or even butter for that matter.
Review Source:Create your own pasta? Sold! Â This is one of my favorite spots to grab lunch during the week. The options are fairly extensive, so it'd be hard to not find something you like (unless you're one of those strange folks like my youngest who has an odd aversion to pasta to begin with). The portions are more than plentiful, and just 7 bucks! And if that wasn't tempting enough, wait till you see the baked goods. Never had the flatbread that they offer, but I'm quite happy with the pasta!
Review Source:I'm so pleased to see that this place has 5 stars on every review. It seriously is as good as it gets!
I work a block or so away from Findlay Market, and I would eat at Bouchard's multiple times a week if I didn't try very very hard to exercise self control.
This is an awesome, awesome choice for lunch. Your food comes quickly, even when there are lots of people waiting during the week.
It's a simple enough process - you fill out a slip of paper on the counter: choose from pasta or a flatbread (both are good, but the flatbread is literally one of my favorite things ever). Then you check off what you want as far as sauce, cheese, veggies or meat! Write your name, leave it on the counter, walk around the market for 5-10 minutes and when you come back it's ready!
The food is not only COMPLETELY delicious, but the portions are also massive and, get this, it's only $7 for both the pasta and flatbread, regardless of the toppings you choose!
It's a triple threat: convenient, delish, and entirely affordable. You can't beat it. I can't stress it enough - you MUST try this place.
Love it!
Cool location, very friendly staff, good selection of ingredients for design-your-own pizza. Unlimited toppings! Plus it's done quickly and you get a lot of food for the money. The crust, sauce and ingredients are all excellent.
I plan to go back to sample some of their other menu offerings.
If you've only ever had pasta out of a box, come to Bouchard's and you'll never ever buy dried pasta again.
Located in Findlay Market, their display shows you everything you need to know about what they carry: freshly (NOT dried) pasta, homemade sauces, and creativity up the wazoo.
I got my boyfriend and I some chipotle fettuccine and a garlic cream sauce. I ate the pasta with just some butter and parmesan cheese. That pasta is flavorful and packs a punch! My boyfriend loved it (as we both really enjoy spicy foods) especially with the sauce I chose for it.
Next time I visit them I will give their ravioli a try. They have cheese, meat, and mushroom fillings with variety of different pasta choices. I'll definitely be buying some of those and will review again!
It's fresh, it's inexpensive, and you can never go wrong no matter what you order... so check it out next time you're at Findlay Market!
Oh the sauces. Oh the sauces!
Ok., I'm not going to lie. I've only been to Bouchard's for the pasta, which they have in a glass case on the right side of their Findlay Market stand. I don't actually even remember what they have in the front of their long glass case, but it doesn't matter. This review is all about the pasta ... and the sauces! Oh my, the sauces.
Bouchard's makes it's own fresh pasta and it's fantastic. Basically whatever you're looking for - linguini and fettuccini and spaghetti and whathaveyou. It's freshly made and hanging out, just waiting for you to buy it. It's also nice wrapped into individual sized portions, so you can walk up and say, "Hey, I'm cooking for three" and they'll be able to give it to you right away. They usually wrap up my whole package even before I can finish a Tweet saying I'm buying it - That's pretty damn good service.
True, that is good. Great even ... However, it's the sauces that blow my mind. BOOM! They make the best, most delicious homemade pasta sauces ever. I'd even be willing to say it's my favorite in the city - and all different types. You've got creamy tomato and garlic Parmesan and white sauces and red sauces and everything in between. You really can pick any one at random and be filled with delicious by nightfall. Can you ask for anything more? No you cannot.
It's also cheap. Wicked cheap. I bought pasta for two with sauce (and had enough for leftovers the next day) and it was $7! Â Hot damn, that makes me a winner.
I love Bouchard's. If I could eat pasta everyday and not explode, this is where I would be going.
