We had an outstanding dining experience @ Casa Nostra.  We were flying into LAX and left time to drive over for dinner before heading on for the rest of our evening plans.  Not too surprisingly, United was extremely late, and we had to change the reservation time ~ 5 times.  The final time was ~ 15 minutes before their closing time at 11 pm.  All throughout, the Casa Nostra team was professional and hospitable.  When we finally got there, we ordered quickly.  My wife and I had a seafood dish, with a caesar salad starter.  All were incredible.  We wrapped things up with canoli and cheesecake - delicious.  Great food, ambiance and service.  We'll be back.

Went here for happy hour, it's a cute Italian spot close to the hub of Figueroa LA life, aka like walking distance from Staples Center and LA Live.

Good:  meatballs, some seafood appetizer (it had clams, mussels bread forgot what it is called)

Cocktails are hit and miss, some are overly sweet or powerful, others are OK.

My boyfriend and I were indecisive on where to eat on a Sunday evening, so we Yelped a restaurant near our place. The restaurant had great reviews with delicious food pictures, so why not give it a shot? We arrived and friendly staffs welcomed us. The restaurant had a delightful ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was not at the level as I expected. The Carpaccio appetizer ($12) we had was just a-okay. Then, we ordered the Squid Ink Spaghetti with lobster ($28) and Prosciutto Pizza ($16) for our entrees. We enjoyed the spaghetti but for that price, we've had better for sure. As for the pizza... Oh my... It was incredibly disappointing. I'm a huge pizza fanatic and coming from a 4.5 star restaurant with the price range of $$$, my expectations are high by default. Although I didn't see any reviews about their pizzas, I still thought, how bad could it possibly be coming from an Italian restaurant?! It literally looked like those Celeste's frozen pizzas topped with any other prosciutto you see at the market. It looked absolutely unappetizing and the taste was bland and salty. It was the worst pizza I've ever had in my life... At the end when we asked for the check, the waiter brought out two glasses of Moscato dessert wine with their shortbread cookies. It was nice of them to offer complimentary desserts but needless to say, I won't be returning again.

Went there for lunch for the first time.  Wasn't sure what to expect, but thought I would try it out for a business lunch.  The service was great and the food was outstanding.

We started with the proscuitto and melon.  Then I had the white fish special, grilled and it had so much flavor and was cooked perfectly.  One of my collegues had the salmon and he said it was really good, and my other collegue had their bow-tie pasta special.  When the pasta arrived at the table, it smelt incredible.  I just had to taste it.  I did and it tasted as wonderful as it smelt.  Wow!

This is a traditional Italian restaurant.  And the waiters are from Italy, so it makes it feel even more authentic.

Definitely give this place a try, it's great!  I'll definitely be back!

    LOVE this place!!

This review is a little overdue. I co-coordinated a surprise bday dinner a few months ago for a moderately large group and I chose this restaurant. None of us had ever been here so my choice was based on Yelp reviews. The other coordinator had made a phone reservation for the date planned but to ensure that everything went smoothly, another friend and I stopped by during lunch to get an idea of the layout. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and when I explained that I wanted to take a look around prior to the surprise bday, they happily obliged. I wanted the reserved tables to be out of sight from the entrance so our bday boy wouldn't see the guests right away and they offered to let me select the specific tables and reserved them in the computer for me. I stated that we had some special balloons we wanted to tie to the chairs and that somebody would be arriving early to set it up and they said it wouldn't be a problem.

There were MANY obstacles the day of the surprise dinner in getting the bday boy to attend (he didn't feel good, didn't want to go anywhere, didn't know what to wear, etc...I want to beat him a little just thinking about it) but Casa Nostra was in no way one of them. From the appetizers and drinks to desserts, everybody we dealt with provided phenomenal service. We ordered double to triple appetizers of each: Fritto Misto (calamari, veggies, shrimp lightly floured and fried, served with marinara sauce) , veal appetizers (can't recall the exact name), Margherita pizza (mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil) and Prosciutto di Parma  pizza (mozzarella and parma prosciutto). The Fritto Misto is the *BEST* calamari I've ever had (and I completely despise calamari at some places). This calamari was light, with an airy crisp, and the marinara sauce was amazing! I don't eat veal so I can't attest to the veal appetizer. I had a taste of the prosciutto pizza and it was extremely salty, therefor just a taste. However the margherita pizza was TO DIE FOR!

The entree ordering process must have been overwhelming, given all the choices and the number of people in our party but the servers remained friendly, humorous, attentive, and efficient the entire evening. Every guest was handed the exact dish that they ordered, without us having to pass anything around to the correct recipient. I was BEYOND impressed! :) I had the Farfalle Veneziana (farfalle pasta with chicken breast and sun-dried tomatoes in pink sauce) and while it had great flavor, the pasta was too al dente for me. If I order it again, I would request that it be softer. From lasagna to pumpkin ravioli to seafood, everyone loved their food and said I made a great choice in choosing the restaurant.

Prior to dessert, I snuck away to give the surprise bday candle to a server to put on the bday boys dessert and they did a wonderful job with the presentation. All their desserts are homemade in-house daily. There was no shortage of desserts around the table. I tried the strawberry pie, bread pudding, chocolate cake, and tiramisu and ALL were DELICIOUS!! Everyone had an incredible time, esp the bday boy, and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of the AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING staff at Casa Nostra. This night has forever won my heart.

I have also been here during a weekday happy hour. The ambiance was perfect and again, service was excellent. The cocktails were strong but delicious. We ordered the bruschetta, eggplant lasagna, and sliders with fries to share between two of us. The bruschetta was really good except that the bread was overtoasted to the point of burnt. I'm attributing it to an occasional mistake so I'd still order it again. The eggplant lasagna was SO unexpectedly, over-the-top, magically DELICIOUS!! I found the sliders to be lacking in flavor but the fries were ok. The sliders were my least favorite item. The eggplant lasagna is my favorite lasagna! I want a full-sized portion next time. You definitely don't want to share this! I will be returning again and again.

I took my boyfriend here for his 29th birthday. There weren't many people around, as it was a Sunday, and we got a lot of personal attention from the staff. When I told them about the birthday, they brought us sweets and goodies and dessert wine for free! Not only that, but I started to get a little chilly because we were sitting outside. One of the waiters noticed that I put my jacket on and moved one of the heating lamps over right next to us and fired it up. They were very pleasant to deal with. I had the grouper and it was great; he had the steak and it was great too. Great place with very kind staff. Their accents are great, too. I would totally recommend it for a romantic dinner for two.

I came here with a large, large group (29 people) and the staff was so great, helpful, and accommodating.  They let us reserve a private room and bent over backwards for us (we had a large group so I'm sure we were difficult guests.)  The food was great, interior was lovely, and the service was excellent.

Parking was validated which was nice-especially in DTLA area.

I was really impressed because the server went out of his way to help us-we were there for a banquet and he offered to take pictures for us, to set up our slideshow, and talked to all the guests.

    Overall, a great experience!

    Everyone here's Italian! Yes!!

I came here on Thursday after work for a quick Happy Hour with my girls. HH is from M-F 3-8PM and Sunday 5-8PM. Drinks that are priced $14 and under are 50% off, and they have a good selection of appetizers. I got the grape cocktail ($7 HH price) and it was delicious! So refreshing and just the right amount of alcohol and grape flavor.

My two girlfriends and I shared the eggplant lasagna, crab cakes, calamari, and meat balls. The meat balls are the small kinds you get are Ikea, but these are much more authentic and legit. The meat balls were juicy and tender, and I don't think it was all just one kind of meat. Something tells me there was probably veal in it... just be warned. The red marinara sauce was thick and creamy!

The calamari was really fresh, but nothing too extraordinary. I'd probably skip this next time. The eggplant lasagna was amazing!! Layers of eggplant, cheese and pasta covered in their red meat marinara sauce. This was my favorite hands down. The crab cakes were also made very well. There was a slight crisp and inside was tender, juicy crab meat. I wonder why none of their HH appetizers are served on their regular menu. It seems a bit strange that you can't order the crab cakes or eggplant lasagna if you dine here for lunch.

Overall, this place was pretty good for a HH, and the legit Italian food comes with cute Italian boys with thick accents. What's not to love?

Great food - great service!  I would recommend the appetizer "Fritto Mixto" (may have misspelled this).  It is the fried calamari and shrimp - very light, fresh and tender.  I would also recommend the tiramisu for dessert.  I've had one of the dinner specials that last two times I was there (home made pasta dishes) and they were excellent.  I was with someone who had the rib eye steak and it was tender and delicious.  I highly recommend this restaurant.

Park at the TCW building, entrance is on 8th St, two hours free with validation.

A small group of us decided to try out this new location for dinner. My awesome friend treated me to dinner and going out of his comfort zone, so I couldn't pass this up. We sat outside with the heat lamp burning my other friend's head. Haha. His girl was cold so he put up with it.

I'm staring at our friendly waiter as he went over the dinner special. In my head I'm thinking "dude, your Italian accent is crazy good."

I sipped the sparkling grape drink that our waiter recommended. The initial taste reminded me of grape-flavored cough syrup. Fortunately, the taste improved as the night went on.

We started off with the artichoke hearts. I'll pass on this. The aroma and taste put me off but my other friend enjoyed it. Next came the fresh imported buffalo mozzarella with tomato and basil. This was creamy good. A nice start to the meal.

I must have picked the wrong entree. My pasta with Italian sausages and mushrooms in a white wine sauce was flavorless. My friend said between his lasagna and my pasta, mine was better. Oh geez.

The wait staff is very attentive and nice. The two waiters and a busboy checked on us throughout the night to make sure everything was refilled and cleared from our table. Our waiter brought us complimentary moscato with chocolate chip biscotti. After that came the complimentary tiramisu. Five stars for the service alone.

I want to give Casa Nostra another shot because the service was great and I want to try what my other friend had. He ordered the filet mignon and subbed the rosemary potatoes with Tuscany fries (skinny fries).

We really liked this place. I hate the name, but everything else was amazing.  The waiters do their jobs very well (and the women in our party seemed to really appreciate them for some reason), the food is fantastic, the wine list is interesting and very reasonably priced, and the decor is very nice. I've been telling everyone about this place for the past few weeks.  If you're looking for a place near Staples Center, go here.

Good, not great. I ordered medium/rare lamb chops and they brought me well-done ones. They lacked flavor and were a bit dry. My wife ordered a special, which I don't remember the name, but it was black spaghetti with lobster. This dish was one-of-a-kind and extraordinarily delicious! The staff was great and attentive at the beginning about then totally forgot about us. We had to wait over 30 minutes (it was nearly empty) just to order our Tiramisu, which was absolutely incredible! Best my wife and I have ever had. Overall, it was slightly above average but there aren't any half stars to give it a 3.5. I would go back

I feel bad for this restaurant that clearly needs business.  The waiters were good; attentive and clearly invested in our experience.  The ambiance was wonderful - quiet and classy.  The food however was not at the level I expected given the price tag and the image Casa Nostra is trying to portray (as a classy place for foodies).  My ravioli was greasy, the Tiramisu was average.  The wine was terrific as was the coffee.

This place is pretty spectacular! It takes a lot for me to stray from my beloved Colori Kitchen, but since it was closed on Sunday, we ventured into the unknown and very happy we did.

My husband and I went with another couple as a double date of sorts. The place was empty which is not surprising for a Sunday. The ambiance is beautiful; dark and cozy, but also modern, sleek, and very comfortable. Some of the waiters have thick italian accents (score!). The food was quite good. Fritto misto and crab cakes were a nice way to start and we all ordered pasta dishes. I had a chance to sample everyone's and mine was by far the standout (for my palette at least, everyone liked their dish the best). My pasta had clams, mussels, and bottarga with a light white wine sauce. It was salty, slightly fishy with ample seafood and fresh herbs adding a certain freshness. The noodles were perfectly al dente. The squid ink risotto that our friend ordered was crazy delicious too, and the pasta primavera was amongst the best I've tasted with a tangy tomato sauce and tons of veggies. I didn't try my husband's lamb ragu pasta because I don't eat meat, but everyone thought it was delicious. We also each ordered dessert and shared those as well. Again, my chocolate soufflé was the winner (this time everyone agreed). Colori still wins for best ricotta cheesecake, but their creme brûlée and strawberry banana tart were yum. We received complementary moscato for dessert as well.

Overall, this was such a pleasant experience. The service is ever present, but very unintrusive. We were there for about two hours, talking and eating, and probably could have stayed for another two. I'm stoked that this place is walking distance from our house, it will definitely become one of our new go-tos.

Wow oh wow!  Came here on a double date with a couple who recommended it.  They have frequently been here since the restaurant has been opened for two months.  They even have their favorite waiter, Marco.  At first when I entered, it was dead on a Saturday night which set my sensors off but when the food came out, that's another story.

A : Truffle pizza - just the right amount of salt and flavor, not too bland.  Great appetizer to start of the night with

A : Bruschetta - Juicy tomatos and great olive oil

A+ : Shrimp Pesto Pasta - WOW.  I loved the pesto sauce, so creamy and flavorful.  It had the right amount of flavor.  Sauce lover, this is a great dish to try! So good I had to take the left over home and it was still great the next day.

B: Spaghettt - If you've been reading my review, by now, you know who got this dish.  My hubby loved it! I on the other hand have a different palate than his.  I thought it was too sour but that' what he likes.

A+ : Ambience - very romantic atmosphere. Like I said, they were empty so it was nice and quiet for us. I am afraid people will start to catch on to this place and we will have to start making reservations.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that this place is right down the street from ours so we can stroll on home and not worry about parking.  Looking forward to be back there to try other dishes!

Greeting in by the hostess with a great smile on her face,  and a warm and friendly welcome by Tony the great waiter.. we already feel warm and comfortable with this nice restaurant esp with the top glass view to the building and outdoor....
The steak that my honey order is great... moist, juicy and cooked to perfection.
My Spaghetti Alla Pescatora is fresh and yummy.
and the best part is.... when dinner is done Tony send us dessert with Muscat for free...
    which we never expected.
Price is very very reasonable and service is great..
Definitely it will be one of my frequent.
and PS.... FORGET ALL THE RESTAURANT IN LA LIVE.... not worth the money and the hype.

This place is wonderul!  A big group of friends and I came here on a Sunday and the staff was just the friendliest people ever.

Because there were so many of us, I got to try a lot of diffeernt things.  Everything was delicious, but the stand outs are: Orecchiette Alla Boscaiola, Spaghetti Alla Pescatora and their special for that day was which was a squid ink spaghetti, I think.  The antipasta, salad and pizzas were good, but I had so many different kinds nothing stood out the way the pasta did.

The drinks were also all amazing and the best part was we got it at happy hour!  I definitely recommend this place and will be going back often.

One of the very best meals I have had in quite some time. Considering they have only been open 10 weeks, I was very impressed. The space is well done, a modern yet classic vibe, if that makes sense. Some very good wines on the menu to choose from, and at a fair price IMO. The filetto melted in my mouth, I probably could have cut it with a spoon. I also tried scallops and they were also perfectly prepared. Out of the entire party of 9, everyone was raving about the meal. Just a heads up, they do not rush you here, it is classic service that may take 2+ hours, but when you have good wine and good friends, that is as it should be. So if you are trying to get in and out to make a show, I would be sure to let the staff know that. Otherwise, your meal will be leisurely paced. Trust me, take your time to savor the dishes and enjoy the experience. I don't get up to downtown LA from San Diego often, but I am glad I know where I will eat when I do! You must try this place, it's phenomenal.

I've been here a couple of times for lunch and it is always good. Note that i've been to the original in the Pacific Palisades and love it.  This location has a nice outdoor patio and a nice looking bar.

The menu is very similar to that in the Palisades. At this location, I've had the fish specials and both times, they were well prepared. The first time was the branzini and the second time was a halibut with mushrooms and a wine sauce, which was great.

At the other location, I tend to gravitate towards the ragus with homemade pastas, which are great. I also really like the octopus salad, which I note is on the happy hour menu, so that'll be a must try if I come back for happy hour.

If I can ever get mon amant to become mon petit ami, I'm taking him here to wine and dine him. If not him, then another lucky s.o.b. HA. The service here was impeccable and the food was so right on and perfect!

My mom, her guest, and I had such a fun Thursday evening gabbing about affairs, men, marriage, and life in general over some great wines and perfectly-seasoned beef, poultry, seafood, and pasta dishes. I got the Lobster Pesto pasta, which I tried not to inhale and it was really hard not to.

It is such an unpretentious, yet refined, cozy, and romantic restaurant about 20 steps from the Original Pantry. Park nearby and walk a little because parking right across the street was, I think, $16! EEEK. Perfect for dates and anniversaries. Definitely returning soon. :D

I visited Casa Nostra for a pasta party lunch the Saturday before the LA Marathon this year and had a great time! For my meal I had the insalata mista, the risotto ai porcini, and a dessert I don't remember... all of which were very yummy. The risotto was especially flavorful and creamy, and I appreciated that it was cooked properly. Risotto is such a hit or miss at some places but it was perfect here!

Also, just as importantly, the service was EXCELLENT. We had a large party and all the waiters were incredibly helpful; they always stopped by to refill waters, ask if we needed more of anything, and were very accommodating with people showing up late or leaving early.

    I will definitely be back!

One star for food and an extra star for the friendly staff...but sadly, that's it.

One thing I look for in an Italian restaurant is a good red sauce (gravy) and sadly this one definitely did not cut it.  The sauce was bland and thin.  It was pretty tasteless and borderline jar tasting.

We ordered a Souffle' Di Melanzana to start.  In addition to the bland sauce there was an unnecessary amount of cheese.  As a former New Yorker I KNOW my Italian food.  There is never a need for that much cheese unless you order a cheese plate.

One main dish was the Lamb Pappardelle (a special that received rave reviews on yelp).  This was nothing special.  Not good, nor bad.  I've had better....and this includes Michelangelo's microwaveable meals.

I also want to address the waiter with the Parmesan cheese bowl.  Dear Mr. Waiter, when you offer some cheese to the customer go easy with the spoon.  THEN, when the diner says thank you, refrain from dumping the remainder of the spoonful of cheese on to the food.  What a disaster.  My boyfriend and I were shoveling grated cheese off our plates after the waiter walked away in disbelief.

The other main was the Milanese Di Vitello.  I figured I couldn't go wrong with this order.  Unfortunately I was way way off.  The dish was tasteless and dry.  The veal tasted as if it had been deep friend and sat out for a day.  When I informed the waiter that it wasn't any good he responded that that is a dish that we must eat right away otherwise it dries out.  I have never ever heard of such a thing.  In addition, if that was the case (which it shouldn't have been) shouldn't they inform the diners when placing it on the table?

To satisfy our discontent, the staff brought out complementary dessert wine and a plate of cookies.  We sipped the wine as to not be rude and I made my boyfriend take one for the team and eat the cookies.  Let me further explain: the "cookies" were bland and hard, thrown on a plate, topped with some chocolate syrup, and sprinked with some powdered sugar. Um, what the heck were they thinking?  Come to think of it, the presentation of all of the meals was bad and pretty diner-esque.

The space is just too large for a "good" Italian restaurant.  Im not sure what the owners and investors were thinking.  Either way, they thought wrong.  Oh!  The location! We couldn't even find the damn place at first.  Oh! Oh! The music!  I've heard better in elevators.

I actually feel bad bashing the place.  We didn't even spend that much.  The waiter comped our veal because we didn't eat it so we were only charged for the appetizer and one main dish bringing our bill to a whopping $28 (still, we could have had so much delicious In n Out for that $!).  Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

I have been to this restaurant a handful of times now, and each time I like it more and more. They have impeccable service, delicious food, and a great happy hour. The owners make a point of coming to your table to make sure you are enjoying your meal and are very friendly, remembering you upon return visits. All of the staff seem to speak Italian, which is very endearing and adds to the authenticity of the place. Loved their calamari, bruschetta, farro salad and every single pasta dish I have tried there. Also, their creme brulee and strawberry lemon cake were delicious!

Awesome. This place may not have a lot if reviews at the moment, but don't doubt them. The food is perfect, the service is perfect. We ordered a bottle of wine(which they helped pick, without being pushy), the carpaccio, which was excellent. The lamb paperdelle was excellent, as was the veal millanese. Good cappuccino to finish it off. A great place to go before a game at staples! Highly recommended!

Great happy hour deal right now (50% off all drinks) from 3pm-8pm.

I went there for lunch and got the bruschetta ($6) and lamb parpadelle ($16).The bruschetta had the most tomatoes I have ever seen on bread. It was very good flavoring as well.

I really enjoyed my pasta. It was cooked perfectly...very comparable to Drago's.

The service was great especially for a new restaurant. I'm so glad about the addition to my downtown lunch spots.

I'm a neighbor and have been twice - both times it was excellent.
There are so many Italian restaurants downtown, but the way they do things here is really different.
They have a tough location - you have to know it's there otherwise you'd never see it.
I hope they do well.  I had great service both times.  We could use a restaurant like this downtown

If you're looking for a stellar meal either before or after a game at the Staples Center or a concert at Nokia, Casa Nostra is perfectly situated - about a 5-7 minute walk will have you at LA Live.  There's a boisterous happy hour at the bar with half off drinks and a nice selection of appetizers/small entrees.  I didn't spot a valet, which wasn't a big deal for me, but it might be if you don't want to fight legions of sports fans jockeying for parking spots.

The space was a little smaller than I expected.  There's a great bar that spills over into the long dining room and a patio in front of the restaurant.  If you're seeking a quiet meal on the weekend, try the enclosed patio or you might want to dine elsewhere as the patrons at the bar kick up the sound level a couple decibels.  The loungey music can be great if you're with a large group of friends, but too loud if you're having a business meal or on a date.  The space is pleasing overall and a nice mix of modern and rustic.

The food was marvelous.  The grilled calamari served over a salad was stellar - really fresh calamari infused with lemon and olive oil.  Black squid ink pasta with crab and lobster with cherry tomatoes was definitely a winner at the table.  Sauce was perfectly balanced (not too rich) and enhanced by the tartness of the fresh cherry tomatoes.  Although we decided to skip dessert, our server brought up a complimentary brioche/cookie dessert plate and glasses of dessert wine.  Wow, very classy.

This leads me to my next observation about Casa Nostra.  Everyone on the staff is on the mark.  Our server was delightful and sported several Italian mannerisms, which we couldn't tell if he was actually Italian or just pretending to be one - no matter since we had a great time.  The partners are very gracious as well.  One of the gentlemen even came outside the restaurant to ask us about our experience and thank us for coming.  Very classy.  I'm a sucker for good service and you've got a fan in the making, Casa Nostra.

This place is an awesome new addition to the downtown LA gastronomic experience.  Their flagship restaurant is located in the Palisades Highlands, which I have been enjoying for over five years.  Now, Giovanni, Michele and Stephano (new partner) have opened a place in the LA Live area downtown that exudes class with an energetic vibe that one would expect from a neighborhood trattoria in New York or Florence.

Whether attending an event downtown, or just want a cheap trip to Northern Italy, make the drive downtown to a restaurant that uses only quality produce, meats and seafood.  Savor the ambience, and order the dover sole or branzino to get the feeling that you are eating at a family restaurant along the Amalfi Coast.

This is a neighborhood gem that will soon be one of the trendiest places downtown.  Many Angelenos have made the trek up to the Highlands for the original restaurant, but this new establishment offers a more convenient location for the Greater Southern California area.

This restaurant just opened in place of Magnolias.
    Clean black and white ambiance
50 Italian men waiting tables with their cool Italian accents

I ordered take out at 11:45am and was told that it would be ready in 20 minutes.  I went downstairs to pick it up but the person didn't even take my order over the phone so I had to order again and wait. I hate waiting especially when I am starving, but the Italian waiters were very friendly and apologetic so I didn't feel as bad.  So I  wait and they offered me water but it would have been nice if they had gave me a basket of bread since they screwed up and didn't take my order in the first place.

    Salad
Sapore Di Rugoletta ($8 half/$11 full)
Wild arugula salad with shaved parmesan--some of the arugula seemed old and withered.  I ordered a 1/2 order of salad on the phone but when I was caught off guard by the fact that my take out was not even placed, I had to reorder and forgot to say 1/2 and they came out with a full which was a bit much and displeasing.

    Entree
    Risotto Al Porcini ($16)
Arborio rice with fresh porcini mushrooms--It felt like the rice was a bit undercooked.  It tasted like I was eating rice porridge with mushrooms (I suppose, that is what it essentially is).

    Pros
Love that it's downstairs of my building

    Cons
Needs more signs in the courtyard and on the 9th street if it wants business
Doesn't know how to efficiently manage their employees yet
Also, their website is terrible.  I had a hard time finding the information.
