Great atmosphere here. Good specials. St. Patrick's day was busiest here! Trivia is always fun. Some of the towns best DJs all weekend long. Never complaint about service or the good either. I highly recommend!

Four people at the bar, bartender was mesmorized by cash register and customer on the other side of the wall. Pretty much ignored but I waited it out. It's a smoking bar, with non-smoking upstairs, but there was a fundraiser for a politican, which is a first for Harrisburg. The prices on the blackboard for happy hour were half of what I was charged. Was told those were the old prices and they changed. Just too much trouble to change that blackboard, I guess. You'd have to buy an eraser, or use a wet towel.

Must be nice to own a bar and not give a damn.

Tried it for the first time.  Ok atmosphere, but it smells like shit and you'll go home smelling like shit.  You won't be able to wash it off for at least two showers.   Hard to believe there are bars that still allow smoking, but this is one of them. Won't be back.

I have been going to Ceoltas consistently for the last few years for their Tuesday night trivia night, in addition to some other select times. Over the last year or so, their service has been terrible. We might be at trivia for 2 or 3 hours, and we're lucky if the server comes to our table three times. We continually have to go to the bar to get drinks, and just the other day we waited for a half hour after trivia ended (and many other tables had left) just to get our checks. The food is decent, but if you don't ever get it, or if it's cold by the time you get it, what's the point? Go somewhere else, save your time and money.

Great little Irish pub with great food.   I have been here a few times with different experiences each time.  A few late night times, it was rowdy, raucous and noisy but a little bit too crowded for me.  But everyone seemed to have a great time.

I went for a Trivia Night (Tuesdays) and that was really fun!  (Our team came in second, yay!).  Crowd was lively, energetic and competitive in a fun way.  The Trivia Master was a blast!

Went again for dinner early on a Friday and atmosphere was perfect, most likely because we got a table in the back.  Food is always good .... the steak sandwich was perfect and my friend enjoyed the NY Strip with broiled shrimp.  There are a number of Irish entrees like Shepherds Pie that I would like to try next time.

Only reason I gave 3 stars is that I feel the draft beer is always on the warm and flat side.  Bottles are a bit colder.  Wasn't sure if this was to give some real Irish Pub authentication?  Didn't have any drink specials but Fridays are 50 cent vodka well drinks.  Can't beat that!

You've got to try the thatched-roof, open air bar on the top floor. I've been once and only had drinks, but it was a beautiful day and the servers were friendly. My hubby wasn't super impressed with the beer list- only a few are on tap on the roof, and two of his choices of bottled beer were out of stock. But the atmosphere of the open air bar and the authentic Irish design (they brought in a master thatcher to do the roof, who knew?) made our visit worth the three flights of stairs.

I have one compliant - are the school girl uniforms on waitresses necessary? Their jobs are hard enough as it is, and we don't need to objectify them.

Can't offer a review for the food or the rest of the place.

Rooftop bars are awesome and this was no exception. I went on a Sunday so it wasn't very full or super exciting but it was a great place to just chill and the bartenders were very cool. Looking up at the sky into the stars as you sip on some $2 beer is a nice way to unwind after a long work week. They had some games to play and looked like an area for music. I can imagine when it gets packed it's pretty fun to go up there and hang out. The bartenders also didn't skimp on the alcohol in the drinks, for better or worse.

I was here twice, because I couldn't imagine that my first time was that bad.

Don't get me wrong, its not bad - but there's no way that this place is an "Irish pub".

Typical bar atmosphere (oh yes a bit of wood - but really - thats it), lousy weekend cover bands, and higher than normal priced drinks, and no shortage of douchebags.  I don't mind paying more for a good place - but - nothing about this stood out.

    NEXT!

Great atmosphere with the wood paneling, but that's where it ends. Irish stew was bland and fish & chips had triangle shaped fish...seriously?

Probably not the best place to walk into on New Years eve. It was 6PM and already there were tons of people just waiting and drinking. Came in for a drink while wasting some time meeting a group for dinner down the road. The bartender was quick to grab what we wanted and we found a spot on the side. All dark heavy wood everywhere, very Irish feel to it with all the Mahogany. That and this place is deep, walking back to the bathrooms felt like I had gone easily half a mile with all the constant swerving to avoid people and servers. Food on the menu looks good and we'll need to give it a shot someday, but this review is only for their decor, beer getting ability and friendliness of the employees, which were all above average considering the night they were about to have. I'll update this one with an actual food review at some point.

I had been in dialogue with Josiah @ Ceoltas for MONTHS planning a Vaudeville themed show to fundraise for a book project I'd been working on.  Two days before the show I called him to ask how early I and the performers could come to set up and he pretended he had never talked to me before.  He hung up on me, I sent him our email dialogue with no response, I called again and he didn't answer.  My boyfriend called for me and he hung up on him.

He didn't apologize, or admit to forgetting to write it down, or whatever his real excuse was.  He just kept hanging up.

I was left, having spent WAY more money than I could afford on posters, advertising, and the performers, with no show to put on.

    Please boycott.

Extremely weak drinks. Even when we asked for stronger drinks, they were unimpressive.

The interior was nice, irish-y, and they had a good cover band on Saturday nights. If you're looking for a good drink at a good price, go somewhere else.

Nice place indoors but I had ordered the bangers and mash wasn't that great  and had the runs for two days. Expected better

I've been to this place plenty of times for a beer or three, it's beautiful inside and they have a number of great beers on draft. The upstairs was just recently finished and is also extremely nice. For atmosphere and pub this place would get 4 stars from me, but for the food I'll give 3 stars. I stopped in for lunch recently and had a pulled pork sandwich that was just average.

This place is rockin'. I rode here in the back of someone's truck with nine other people. After we emerged from the truck bed, we entered Ceoltas speedily. The place was packed with a good looking crowd. Actually, the people here were really friendly as well. Now that I think about it, I think that Harrisburg is much friendlier than Chicago in general.

It was kind of crowded around the bar, so I snagged some expensive Miller Lites at the big ice tub with a sad looking beer girl sitting behind. She was happy when she handed me beers though.  After that, I wandered around trying to find the rest of my posse.

The Martini Brothers band was in the house. I expected them to be lame, but after I gave up trying to find everyone, I got sucked into their energetic performance. The crowd was digging it. Especially when they played Surfin' Bird.

When I did finally catch up with my group, things got fuzzy and the next thing I know, we all got kicked out. All nine of us. I don't remember why, but I'm sure we deserved it. No hard feelings, Ceoltas.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: It was brought to my attention that we were kicked out because one member of our party peed on the dance floor.

I've been here twice for dinner...on week nights, so I wouldn't have to deal with the horrible downtown people.  Their fish and chips are yummy, the atmosphere is cozy...and the pints are fresh.  Not to mention they have Magners cider, which is extremely tasty and refreshing.  My boyfriend got bangers and mash and he was pleased with his meal.  I enjoy this place muchly.

We've been to Ceoltas twice,  once on a Saturday afternoon and again on Trivia Quiz night,   we were very impressed with the ood and the service both times as well as the drink specials,   The Shepards Pie and the Corned Beef were both tasty,   we did have some asparagus that was signifigantly over cooked,  but over all.  Ceoltas does a pretty good job of being a nice pub to have dinner and chat wth friends in.  We especially like the padded sofa in th back with the swirly patterns.

Every weekend at some point my friends inevitably drag me inside Ceoltas because "a lot of the second years go there."  And I want to see them why?

I hate the music; it makes me want to kill myself.

    Yet Ceoltas gets 3 stars?

Well - if you're looking for that screaming rock live band scene- Ceoltas is perfect; it's just not my cup of Guiness.

The drinks are made well, and the staff is nice.

So yeah, even though I want to kill myself every time I'm there - if you're into that whole scene, you'd enjoy Ceoltas.
