what strikingly awkward hues of blue. Â a gated ghetto gonzo garden too. Â it's quite the treehouse discoball mimosa haven. Â and the tons of braided garlic (grown on the spot) is there to keep the vampires away..... though i'm not sure it's been all that effective.
still...more like church key to my heart (attack)
The other day somebody asked me what I thought the greatest acoustic backyard venue in all of Oakland was, and do you know what I told them? Church Key Manor delivers on all it's promises and then some. It's outdoorsiness is unparalleled in a city of outdoor places. The acoustics are enhanced by the looming freeway overpass, sending waves of sound back to the audience and bringing out subtle nuances and timbres that you didn't even know were there. On two occasions I've even had their arugula pasta, which have made great impressions on me both times.
Parking is plentiful, and if you can tolerate a crowd made up mostly of cool kids, then it's as good as it gets.
