Nope. It's a nice looking place for sure, but not my speed at all.
The selection is small, lacks diversity and is on the expensive side. Â These aren't bad cigars by any means, just not worth exclusively seeking out in my opinion. High name recognition brands (Davidoff, Ashton, etc.) are what you'll find here and not much else.
The bar looked well stocked but to be honest after I scoped the humidor and noticed how unimpressive it was, I was out the door in a flash.
Great place for high rollers who like the exclusive digs, tourist and those who want to pretend they understand what smoking cigars are all about. Worth a visit, but probably not a regular go to spot.
I definitely felt as if I had walked into somewhere in the UK when I entered this bar. Â A small group of us on a work trip wanted to find a good spot for a cocktail and yelp sent us to the Churchill Bar. Â To get to the bar, you have to walk through a wonderful lobby filled with luxury and beautiful adornments. Â It's gorgeous!
I should have known that it might have been smokey in the bar - I really don't like leaving locations smelling of smoke (I'm spoiled to have lived in many cities where that is being done away with...). Â I never think of this anymore since Chicago is smoke-free, plus I was searching yelp based upon star reviews and not written reviews....PLUS, some people are calling this a 'cigar room', but it wasn't listed this way on yelp. Â Oh well, my own fault...
I thought that the wine list wasn't quite as varied and long as I would have hoped for a bar in a hotel, though I suppose this is where you go for a cocktail or scotch as I've seen reading the other reviews... Â
Service was slow though we were the only ones in the bar and I think that it's pretty expensive for the selection (of wine).
Overall, a cute spot in a lovely building, but I think I would have enjoyed my drink in the lobby bar instead. Â Worth a look if you want a cigar, though...
I LOVE an occasional cigar, but I particularly LOVE a cigar in a cigar bar. And not just any cigar bar but the good old "gentleman's club" kind of cigar bar. Complete with wood panels, weathered leather chairs, and the aroma! The cigar menu is basic, not very extensive, just good enough.
I ordered a virgin mojito (I had a few drinks elsewhere), but will be back for drinks next time.
The service was superb! Our waitress was courteous and friendly. She took good care of us. I will definitely be back for another puff of Davidoff.
This is my secret little hide away!
Hidden within the historic Brown palace hotel of Denver is the Churchill Cigar room. Interestingly it is one of the few remaining in the country. Think dark wood interiors and plush well appointed furniture. I don't even smoke and I love this place! The smoke level isn't even that bad, often with only one or two people actually taking cigars. Just relaxing in the environment makes me feel like i'm on some extravagant movie set from the 30s. I mostly like to enjoy some champagne here. They do serve food here, so you can get their delicious truffle fries and feast on some oysters. I'd suggest bringing friends here before or after a night out is a great idea!
For anyone who likes to get dressed up and enjoys luxurious surroundings of decadence I cannot stress this place enough!
The hungry kitten says: Oysters...mmm
It's the BP so everything is above and beyond. Â Churchill's is a a great place to sit and catch up with friends over a drink and/or snacks. IT feels like an old boys' club. Â I am not a smoker but have been known to enjoy a cigar with my scotch. Â I always take out of town guests here and they love this place. Â The ladies [Hailey, Jody and Shelly] are always gracious and accommodating and they sure know their liquor and cigars.
Review Source:Comfy, upscale, old school cigar bar.
Picture it: Oversized worn in leather couches and arm chairs, along with some tables/chairs, a big bar and large humidor. It is floor to ceiling wood, leather and cigars. It works.
Great ventilation system (translation no clouds of smoke lingering in the room). Fantastic service. You can order from the Palace Arms menu, but if you want free eats they will bring you stuffed olives (blue cheese), smoked almonds and Cajun mix if you need something to nibble with you drink and stogie.
Awesome experience!
I love smoking cigars and going to cigar bars, so I'm always looking for somewhere new and good to go. Churchill's is located inside the Brown Palace (just go thru the lobby and thru a set of double door's and there you go). It's very nice in there and feels like an old school bar. Everything is covered in wood and there's a few nice chandeliers. A very nicely stocked bar with a avery cool bartender in attendance. He came by several times to see if we needed anything and brought out a very nice assortment of nuts to snack on.
They had a good portion of the wall covered in cigars for sale. There were some nice brands in there, although we didn't purchase anything so I'm not sure how their prices were. I brought my own.
Prices on drinks were about what you'd expect. $8 for mixed drinks, so nothing too exorbitant (or cheap).
Just writing the review is making me want to smoke! I'll be back.
Decent bar, if you can stand cigar smoke. Â I was fine for one drink, and am happy for the cigar smokers they have a place to hang, but I couldnt imagine sitting here longer. Â Bartender was really sweet and attentive. Â They have great bar snacks: blue cheese stuffed olives, mixed savory crackers, etc.
Review Source:This is not a place for the smoke haters as it's a cigar bar. Â It's located in the lobby of the Brown Palace, and has excellent old-school drinks along with a limited menu. Â The kobe burger and gin martinis I had there were fantastic. Â The burger was requested medium rare, and dripped down my chin on each bite. Â Flavor was fantastic. Â This was one of the better burgers I've had and cooked to a perfect T. Â They have a decent selection of cigars as well or you can bring your own to smoke.
Review Source:Welcome home Sir Winston!
This is a great place to relax and unwind with your favorite single malt and a cigar. Â The have a comprehensive menu for both but be warned they are proud of them. Â The only other negative is they could certainly use another plasma TV, but that won't keep me from returning.
A good place to go to in downtown Denver for a wondrous hamburger.  There are three options: 1) buffalo 2) Kobe 3) non-Kobe / non-buffalo.  Spend the extra USDs and get the Kobe; the quality is simply amazing.  Tender, moist and compelling.  Most hamburgers made of non-high grade beef have little to no flavor and worst sometimes offensive flavor.  This is a cute little bar-restaurant where it is designed to look like Sir Winston himself might have been enjoying his daily in-take of Champagne.  There was a large selection of cigars!  Amazing--I guess Denver has not allowed  smoking in-doors.  The menu is small and predictable; the portions and quality are large.  The service was really friendly and made us feel not only welcomed but were placed at ease.  A good eating experience, even though Denver is not one of my favourite restaurant cities.
