I was so afraid that Dan's had closed when I walked past it during the day for the first time. But then I realized it's just because the only reason I can ever find the door at night is the bouncer outside.
I am very happy this place exists because it is such a novelty and the best place to pregame with a big group and to take out of town visitors.
Dan's Cafe is: ketchup bottles full of alcohol and mix-your-own-damn drinks in a really disgustingly dirty hole in the wall. A+
Take Dan's for what it is a dive bar in Adam's Morgan - possibly the divey-est dive bar in all of DC. It's somewhat hidden at the end of the 18th Street strip and they serve liquor in plastic squeeze bottles. I have friends who love this place, but be warned if you end up here towards the end of the night - you're in dangerous territory. Overall though it's laid back, uber-casual and definitely a place to visit at least once.

But that's why you're here right? Squeezy bottle full of booze and a soda for $20 is a great place to start the night and a horrible place to end it. If you end it there, it will end you if you've been drinking already. If you start it there, you probably won't need much more to keep the dice rolling.
Also when I asked the guy for another soda he said "You don't need another damn soda!" and walked away from me. I'm ok with that.
