I agree with Shane that this place has potential, but then again, any new club does. I also agree with Brittany that not much has changed as far as the look and feel of the place, but honestly, nothing really needs to...I'm just glad there's an actual dance club downtown. The 2 floors help keep crowds somewhat spread out, although it does get super packed upstairs during a show, so just get your drinks downstairs and walk up and join the crowd. I'm straight and felt perfectly comfortable here. It was great to see all types of people here enjoying life and dancing, drinking, and socializing without getting nasty stares.
I think my only complaint is that the music is blasted so loud that you must literally yell at people to talk. I've been in a lot of clubs and this was probably the loudest I've come across in a long time. I don't understand why a respectable DJ would pipe music that loud. The speakers did not sound good, treble off the charts...like on the verge of busting. Ok whatever, old man rant over... either way, ya might want to pack a set of earplugs if you're going to be dancing the whole night. And yeah, the bathrooms were kind of dirty thanks to men not being able to aim, but what else is new right?
Contrary to Brittany's rant about cover, there is at least one night when there is no cover for 21+ So, if you're looking to make your night a little bit fabulous and have never seen a drag show, release your inner diva and check out the Palace.
Lunar Lounge as come out of the closet.
The Diamond Palace used to be called Lunar Lounge and the only things that have changed are that the silver mannequins are gone and the gays have replaced them.
Don't get me wrong, I love the gays but if you're going to a gay bar, go to Below Zero.
Brass tacks: This place is large, sweaty, thumping, a bit corporate feeling and they have a cover charge. Meh.
The crappy bar this place used to be: <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/lunar-lounge-cincinnati-3">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>
