    Beachfront brasserie in the former Trina space in the Atlantic Hotel.  Indoor-outdoor seating.  Extremely limited lunch menu, along with a kids menu.  Waiter didn't know the soup of the day, and had to ask another server (FYI it was clam chowder, a silly choice for a FLORIDA beachfront restaurant).  Place seemed a bit dreary and "dead," to say the least.  The energy (or lack of it) and the vibe were not good - strange.  We actually decided to get up and leave!  And that's not something we normally do.  Skip it - this place will be out of biz shortly.

    Used our Travelzoo coupon and booked a table for 8:30 on a Saturday night. We did not need a reservation, the restaurant was a ghost town. Should of been a big warning sign but the hostess assured us that they were busy with early birds. The server told us otherwise. We ordered two seasonal cocktails, the Kentucky Apple and a Holiday Spiced rum. Both were very good. The appetizer suggestion was the tuna and steak, surf and turf tartar. Very light seasoning, allowed the meat to speak for itself. It would continue to speak later that evening. Chose the chicken and filet for entrees. The peppercorn sauce used for the filet was other worldly. Easily the best flavor on a steak I have ever experienced. The cut of meat itself wasn't too shabby either. Dessert was a chocolate lava cake, which tasted of freezer burn reheated. Overall, the impression leaving the restaurant left both of us at a 4.5 star status. Then we got home...both of us were crippled stomach problems. I am sure the appetizer is the culprit and I understand the risk of eating raw proteins but this is no excuse for a restaurant. If you can't guarantee the health of the customer with every dish, then you need to remove them from your menu.

    The East Side Brasserie located in the Atlantic Hotel was somewhat of a fooler for me. Going there I had expected the menu to be French, but with the exception of a snail dish (Escargot en Croute), a confit of duck, burre blanc and a few other rather simple sauces, it wasn't. It's basically a pleasant higher class hotel restaurant, certainly large enough with a big bar area, decent simple but elegant décor, a nice outside patio consisting of a beautiful ocean view with the minor exception of the fact that between your patio seating and your ocean view there are the four lanes of the A1A Highway.

    I've been here a number of times but not since it was run by local Chef Mark Militello who operated it as executive chef under the restaurant name Trina. Since then the décor has improved (I really found nothing attractive about bare bamboo sticks stuck in a pot of fake dirt) as has menu. Long gone are the Trina Restaurant days of a pseudo Wolfgang Puck inspired Spago menu consisting of high priced mediocre quality pizza. Good riddance!

    The quality of food and service at East Side Brasserie today is excellent but for the price ($45 for a Cowboy Ribeye dinner) or simple daily fish lunch running around $22 with house wines at $11/glass one can do better at other beach front hotels. For example, 954 Steak at the W Hotel Fort Lauderdale, Shula's at the Westin Beach Resort & Spa or even at the Pelican Grand which in fact is located right on the beach, right on the water in the even you are really looking for that ocean view. The other choices are many and the competition is stiff.

    So, over all, I can't really say I'm a fan of East Side Brasserie when I take into consideration the prices, however, it is a very nice place with really good but limited menu food.

    Not bad but nothing special. This beach side eatery is plain Jane.

    Off season, Monday and really dead. Sure did not that OpenTable reservation to get in here. A block up the beach from the Hilton where I was staying and above par reviews so it was an easy choice.

    Assorted breads and herbed butter arrived to mate with:
    erath Pinot from Oregon $11/gl went wry well with my pasta choice on a hit summer night.
    Arugula and Beet salad $10 was boring and plane.
    Fettuccine Pomodoro $27 was good with a nice amount of muscles and white fish with prawns. The red sauce was light and had a strong garlic buzz adding a bit of a bite.
    The service was ok. I was checked on before I put a fork into the salad and again when there were only two bites of my entree left. All too early and allot too late. I hope he's not like that in bed.

    If you're near, give it a shot but I would not go out of my way to come. That's the main reason for the 2 stars. I'd like to give it a very middle of the 2.5.

    My friend and I were in the area and tried this place for brunch. The location is perfect, the place has a hip/clean feel, the hostess was extremely friendly, and the food looked good, so I thought we were in for a really nice experience. But it turned out just okay. My friend ordered the $18 two egg plus bacon deal (pricey, but it includes coffee and OJ). Asked for the eggs over medium but got them barely cooked, I mean, one level above raw. Problem did get rectified and eggs came back cooked. I had a $14 omelette which was good (did not include OJ and coffee), but I had better for much less. Salt on the table was in the original store bought container, opened. Given we were outdoors and next to the beach, the salt came out in a clumpy wet chunks. Gross. Service was friendly, but very slow and the place was not crowded. The place has great potential, but I will probably not be back.

    Very disappointing until you reach the desserts.

    Heirloom tomato salad with spinach and mozzarella was grocery store flavorless tomatoes, wilty spinach and little mozzarella balls the size of peas.

    My rare veal chop was cooked medium and I had to send it back. I overheard the chef behind me complaining.  The second attempt was cooked properly but very average and under seasoned.

    So, I was not feeling too good about this place until the dessert menu came.  It was an incredible menu and I wanted to try everything.  I decided on the flourless chocolate cake which is accompanied by 4 pieces of tempura banana and ice cream.  This was by far the best flourless chocolate cake I have ever had. Delicious!  The pairing with the bananas and the ice cream was perfect.

    They get 3 stars from me.  The food was a 1 and the dessert was a 5.

    I will go back but only for dessert!  Bravo to the dessert chef!!!!

    I'm in such a food coma that this will best be done by lists.

    Ambiance - wonderful
    Bartender- Makes great drinks originally from Boston
    Waiter - Steve - was very personable and hospitable couldn't have asked for better.

    Drinks:
    Bottle of wine - Chateau St Jean Merlot - very full bodied fairly priced
    Libations - 14K French Martini - Yum
    Chef Grapefruit Gimlet - very refreshing highly recommended

    Food:

    Olive Bread + amazing flavored butter

    Apps:
    Scallops- amazing sadly they give you only 2
    Pizza with shrimp - I really was not a fan
    Truffle Mac+ Cheese- good needed a bit more oil and they added some at no extra charge  but it had barely any lobster.

    Sides:
    Asparagus - generous portion tasted steamed
    Spinach and Mushrooms- a tad much on the salt but also a generous portion

    Main Course:
    Filet mignon - Asked for medium came a little bit closer to well but it was soft and decent. Came with a sauce chose the mushroom it wasn't great.  

    Dessert:
    Smashed Bar - chocolate fudge peanuts gold - aka very rich
    Coffee - came in a french press and smelled like heaven!

    All in all a great dining experience.

    We got coupons for this restaurant because we were staying at the hotel, otherwise we may not have tried it but I'm so glad that we did!  First we had two glasses of wine and the coconut shrimp appetizer with parmesean fries.  The fries could have had a little more cheese, but they were crisp and have a nice full flavor.  I don't usually like coconut shrimp but this was done very well, fresh and not too sweet.  Then, in the morning we ate breakfast.  This is my new favorite breakfast place!  The biggest standout was the big fresh, juicy berries.  Also, the waiter made it clear that they would accommodate any needs not on the menu which was fantastic.  All condiments (jelly, ketchup, mustard, mayo) came in individual sealed miniature jars, which seemed wasteful but was certainly clean!

    We had an excellent breakfast there this week!  Perfect view of the ocean while sitting outdoors.  Everything was delicious and our eggs were cooked perfectly!  A little pricey for breakfast but well worth it!

    As evidenced by my 3 check-ins here in one week, it's easy to see that East End Brasserie was my favorite dining spot while vacationing in Fort Lauderdale. We ate here for breakfast, lunch and dinner over our 5 day vacation, including a stop in for afternoon cocktails.

    I loved this restaurant so much that I wished we had stayed at the Atlantic instead of the neighboring Hilton. According to very little research I have done, it looks like the Atlantic is a Travel + Leisure award winner. Even though we only ate here, I'm not surprised at all by their accolades.

    We were traveling with a toddler and since I haven't been to Fort Lauderdale since college, I expected us to dine at more casual hot dog and pizza joints, but it was mostly high-end hotel restaurants surrounding us. East End Brasserie didn't blink an eye at us bringing a toddler here, in fact, they seemed excited to host her! Which was a big relief!

    Even if you aren't traveling with a little one, but looking for a great spot for cocktails and food, East End Brasserie is one of the best. On our first day, I had the Salmon Eggs Benedict. Pure heaven! For lunch I had an amazing salami sandwich (chef let me sample the cheese that came on the sandwich before deciding on my order) and I had the steak frites for dinner. This part of the A1A is mostly over-priced restaurants, but I feel East End Brasserie serves up great food and drinks (try the Raspberry Mojito!) without too much sticker shock.

    Nuzzled into the forefront of the literally named Atlantic Resort & Spa, East End Brasserie leans out toward the surf with a cheery staff, serving up well executed (if not completely novel) takes on breakfast and brunch; a potpourri I took in this week.

    Let's get the obvious out of the way second: there's almost literally no way to please the drive-by crowds you get in a tourist destination spot like this one (and I'm speaking of the town and not the restaurant in particular), and it can be harder still to stick the landing on the palate of those locals looking for a revolutionary take on cuisine. So let's reference this appropriately. East End Brasserie is a very cool beach front eatery that does a number of things really, really well. And there's no way that it'll suit everyone that darkens the door. Such is life.

    Fortunately, the door doesn't get particularly dark in the early morning witching hours, and my traveling party managed to wrangle a table without too much trouble. The hostess seemed eager (and super helpful) on managing getting us situated, and it wasn't too much later that our waiter came along. I found the breakfast/brunch entrees pretty reasonable (though if you're on a budget, you might consider the ala carte breakfast fare first), and by the time I'd read my sunny side up eggs, toast, orange juice and bacon the riot act, the rest of the table had exhausted more exotic fare in spades. Worth a shot and good to beat the clock on the weather.  Just a start from where I sit, but a solid one nonetheless.

    $14 dollars for a breakfast platter that consists of meal-y scrambled eggs, sausages, and undercooked and under-seasoned potatoes.  Definitely overpriced hotel food.

    Our waitress was friendly though.  Can't fault her for a bad kitchen...

    A sexy spot to come and have an after dinner drink.  We came when they had a Svedka promo, sweet a free shot.  Great draft beer selection with a hot little spitfire serving it.  Hostess was great!  She took the time and helped these two lost tourists that came in (who were us).

    I was staying at The Atlantic Hotel and this was the restaurant in the hotel. The best decision I made in Fort Lauderdale was dining here. And I ended up dining here for six consecutive nights. First of all, it's hard to beat the patio overlooking the beach for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. But that's just an added perk. The food is top notch but laid back and is reason enough to come here. For breakfast one morning, I had the brioche French toast with vanilla cream cheese and Vermont maple syrup, fruit, sausage links, and an OJ. Simple, but absolutely hit the spot. For the day's later meals, they ramp it up another notch. The seared sea scallops with porcini mushroom butter & shaved foie gras is one of the best things I've eaten in all of 2011 (and yes, I make that comment well knowing that I also ate at Le Bernardin this year). Generously sized and perfectly cooked scallops with an addictive sauce that will have you asking for more bread so you mop up every last ounce of it. I ordered it every day for six days. But honestly, any dish was superb: the Prince Edward Island mussels braised with white wine; the Hearts of palm salad with tomato, avocado, and haricot vert; tuna tartar with wasabi mayonnaise, avocado, pickled ginger, and soy vinaigrette (magical, almost as magical as the scallops); and the poached Scottish salmon with parsnip potatoes, haricot vert, and American caviar beurre blanc. I went to Fort Lauderdale simply for the warm weather. Little did I know I would come across one of my favorite restaurants all year.
