As you can see from my profile, I don't give many low reviews but I can't believe either how high this place was rated by others so far! I feel I need to put my opinions experiences with this place. I work in a office really close to the place so when I first started I went there a few times. Their service is slow, they use prepackaged everything (not that big of a deal but it is not good quality prepackaged), they are very overpriced, and they have a rule that they will not let you spend less than 5 bucks if you want to use a credit card/debit card but it is super super close to me. So even after all of that description and you still think you might want to go? Well I have one more issue that happened and this is why I am never going back. I watched one of them while using their plastic gloves pick up garbage and not change their gloves. And then the lady making my food, I watched her cut the woman's bagel in front of me that is smeared with cream cheese, then without washing it, used it on my bagel. Now I didn't order cream cheese and what if I was not paying attention and was allergic to cream cheese? I could got really sick or killed. I did not directly say anything because I didn't feel like explaining food contamination because I don't think they would understand or care. Needless to say, I'm not coming back...

Old school, cafeteria style deli with a mix of New York City meets high school lunch. All of these things create a pleasant trip down memory lane to be served up some home cookin'.

A dry erase board notes the daily menu, with things like soup, chef salads, and hot ham and swiss on a pretzel bun. Walk up to the counter and place an order, grab your tray, get a drink from the giant cold case in the back. The sodas come in both bottles and cans, with everything from Fanta to Diet Vanilla Coke (remember that?) They even have Cherry Coke Zero!

Come hungry; the portions are enormous! Sandwiches are piled high with meaty goodness. The pretzel bun was the most popular; no one had a sandwich on plain bread. Of course, cheese was gooing out the side. The salads were heaping off the plate; it honestly makes Panera Bread salads look miniscule! All the food is made to order, cut traditional deli style with a slicer.

After you fill your tray, your last stop is the cash register near the entrance of the restaurant. There are plenty of tables throughout Elm Street Deli to sit and enjoy your lunch, or you can take it to go.

If you're looking for a hearty sandwich or salad lunch, Elm Street Deli will fill you up!

    Price per person: $7.00 - $9.00
Tip: No Credit Card purchases for under $5.00

I enjoyed Elm Street Deli at lunch today. I ended up having a hot ham and swiss on a Pretzel roll (Mmmmmmm...pretzel roll!) It was very tasty and the woman who made my lunch chatted with me in a friendly way and made me smile. Another good downtown lunch option if you want something quick with no fuss.
