I was skeptical at first since I love sushi but rarely remember what I have tried, nor can I usually tell the difference on a large platter of sushi of multiple varieties. So I was nervous to say the least, to actually pick out exactly what I wanted in my roll.
With that said, there is nothing to be nervous about! I went with shrimp tempura and basically every vegetable they had, including the jalepeno and adding cream cheese. I figured, why not! You really can't go wrong at Fusian and I haven't heard of anyone having a bad experience. And honestly it's probably the most basic level of sushi you can have, so there's nothing to be skeptical about trying.
For those who don't like sushi because of the fish, they have chicken and steak options that I personally can't bring myself to try, but I am sure is quite good!
Lastly for sauce, the first time I went they recommended the sweet soy and spicy mayo combo so I said, why not! Oh my gosh! AMAZING. I highly recommend it if you like things saucy like me ;).
I did try the soup at one visit and I thought it was kind of gross to be honest. I wouldn't recommend it, save your money and just get the sushi!
Many reviews already explain some of Fusian's differentiating factors from other Sushi joints. As a nontraditional sushi fan (chicken & steak only please), I'll try to highlight a few other points that keep me coming back to Fusian. PB & J roll... MUST TRY. Delicious to split with someone for dessert. There will be a line at peak lunch hours in downtown. A few words to describe the atmosphere that come to my mind are chill yet swanky.
Personal testimony of my love of Fusian-
While still living in Cleveland, I had been craving Fusian for weeks prior to one fall weekend getaway to visit my boyfriend in Cincinnati. I wanted to quench that craving first thing when I got in Friday afternoon, but he suggested we go Saturday or Sunday instead. We had a packed schedule for those few days, so Saturday came and went and still no Fusian fix. Sunday morning he starts looking up their hours on his phone when he realizes the downtown Cincinnati location is closed on Sundays. OH NOOOOO! I tried to maintain my disappointment, but probably was not too successful. Next thing I know... we're hanging out in the car to make the hour trek to get my Fusian fix- at University of Dayton location which IS open on Sundays :D
I'm glad he realized my love for Fusian, I think I'll keep him around. EATFUSIAN
I'm coming at this with having had sushi in San Francisco and it's hard to compare that to anything in Ohio. I was not impressed with Fusian.
My friend and I tried this place yesterday. We came for an early dinner around 4pm on a weekday. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The environment was clean and modern.
I got two rolls. Their suggested shrimp tempura and a half chicken - half steak. That came to $14. For a small place with processed veggies and pre-cooked meat, that seemed really expensive. I also ordered a miso soup which tasted like straight chicken broth from the can.
Neither one of us finished our rolls and would not go back. I would not recommend this place.
If you like sushi, or aren't sure if you like sushi, or are scared of sushi, this is the place for you. The staff is super awesome and super frienddly, and know their around their sushi forwards backwards and inside out.
This is basically the chipotle of sushi. You go to the counter, pick your wrap, and then your protein. There's traditional sushi; tuna, salmon, eel, crab. And then theres your cooked "sushi"; steak chicken, shrimp. Then its on to the veggies. and finally sauces and toppings, such as peanuts or tempura crunch.
One roll is plenty to fill you up, I'm normally trying to stuff the last 2 pieces in. It's delicious, and if ou don't like a combo, it's really kind of your own fault. now you know to try something different next time! I've never had a bad roll yet! It's quick easy and fresh. And don't be afraid if you're new, the staff seems to sense it and will help you through each and every step, without being annoyed. And the new space is great! For yourself or even for a group,
I'm only 43 but I'm already starting to eat like an old person. Early and light. The quick, easy meals of my early years are out now. No BK, no McD, no Wendy. They're not only gross but actually make me feel bad for a full 24 hours now.
So I gotta be picky. This place will be one of those picks.
Fusian is basically Chipotle. I call is Samurai Chipotle. It's fresh food done well on the cheap and quick. I know nothing about sushi and I'm sure purist will wretch at this but I hate purist so who cares what they think.
It was a good meal full of flavor done in a clean place.
One caveat. I took a look at their website before heading down. In the upper, right corner is the world "LIFESTYLE". The word "LIFESTYLE" headlining a restaurant's website makes me want to punch the owners in the ego and almost deterred me from going. But the wife vetoed my deterredness and I learned this bit of "LIFESTYLE" officiousness didn't carry over to the restaurant...at least at eight PM on a Friday night.
If Subway and Benihana had a baby, it would look like Fusian. A Fusirgin before today, I am not sure how we have lived in Cincinnati the past five months without it. The selected destination for our first Friday date lunch this month, we were immediately intrigued when we saw the line wrapped out the door. We figure that around here, it's gotta be good - really good - for people to wait for it.
With pretty much any available combination you could imagine, we both ordered tuna on a traditional seaweed roll and went parted ways on the ingredients. It was fun to customize your own roll - you can really do anything you want. While the options are pretty basic and straight forward, I'm not to eccentric when it comes to my raw fish accompaniments, so these were perfect. I could see a spinoff where they do a little funkier selections (mango, cilantro, etc.), but the current options were perfect. The result was fantastic - fresh tasting, perfectly topped, sushi splendor.
So concept brilliance aside, we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff. It was lunch time, the line out the door growing, and these people took the time to ask how you were doing, how your day was going, and just SMILE. That's something I rarely experience at other similarly styled QSRs. The huz had told one of the guys that it was our first visit and our impression to that point, and he actually took the time to stop over midway through the meal and ensure that things were still going well.
WHAAAA?
Whether it's a move down the street or to another city, we'll follow these guys wherever they decide to open their next shop. Great stuff.
How have I not heard of this place until now? They had a booth set up at the Western Southern Tennis match and this was my choice for dinner. They got me buy offering me a free sample of their soy wrap chicken roll and #morethanrawfish tag (since the bf isn't a huge fan of raw fish).
This build your own Chipolte-style sushi joint was a hit - long line also meant this stuff just had to be good - and I was right! Get creative - and splurge, by spending the extra buck for the soy wrap...it was phenomenal!
Two locations: Downtown and UD....so glad they are open for dinner!!
How AWESOME is designing your own sushi? Â I love this place! The service is fast and friendly and the food is very good. Prices are decent ($7-9 dollars a roll which has 10 pieces). I felt like I could have eaten more than just one roll but didn't want to pay near $20 for a place where you walk up to the counter and order.
Location is not the best but good if you happen to be already downtown in the area and great for the lunch crowd. Parking is difficult.
Fresh and fast.
My favorite place to eat downtown -- I go here every week! Delicious, customizable sushi at a great value and friendly service -- what more can you ask for! Â And, for people who can't eat shellfish or fish, they have chicken, beef, and tofu as sushi ingredients! Â I also love how you can add whatever sauce you'd like (i.e. spicy mayo) and tempura crunch, to make your sushi even yummier.
Review Source:Woah, really cool food place. It's one of those places that makes me really proud of Cincinnati innovation! As everyone has already explained, Fusian is Chipotle sushi, where you can throw anything you want in sushi roll. They have traditional sushi options, and they also have more fusion-style ingredients like chicken and steak.
No long lines, really fresh ingredients, assembly process all in front of your eyes, friendly staff at the counters, inexpensive, yummy. This place is a huge hit in my book.
I describe Fusian as Chipotle-style sushi, and if you know me, you know I think anything that is semi-related to Chipotle is pretty much the greatest thing on Earth. Fusian has you go down the line and customize your order however you would like. They have a variety of pretty fresh ingredients and consistently add new items to their menu. Their spicy mayo is my favorite spicy mayo of any sushi I've eaten at to date, but you should definitely try the sweet soy. When you do, you will probably die of how awesome it tastes. And ok you got me, I pretty much order the same roll with the same sauces every time (boring, I know), but I can't stop because it's just THAT GOOD.
Fusian also has a great staff. They make you feel like they are happy that you are there, and make an effort to come around to the tables to say hello and ask you what you thought of the food. Obviously, I always tell them it was delish.
Fusian is the perfect sushi joint for people who "hate" sushi. I say this because absolutely everything is customizable. If you are someone who has never tried sushi perhaps because the idea of eating raw fish is just too much for you...try Fusian!
I hate to make this comparison, but it's an accurate one. Fusian is like Chipotle or Subway for sushi. You walk in and pick your wrap (seaweed or soy) and then build your roll from there. All your options are labeled on an overhead board that walks you through the building process. The staff are all super friendly and if you get lost at any point they are always happy to direct you or make suggestions.
One roll runs about $7 and is enough for one person. Add a side salad or cup of soup and this can easily be dinner. I've heard rumors of a PB and J dessert roll as well, but I've never actually tried it.
If you find yourself downtown and are looking for a quick and light meal Fusian is a must try. It's customizable sushi rolls and friendly staff make for a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
When I was told this was the sushi version of Chipotle, I immediately had my doubts. Fast food sushi can go very, very wrong and can be very, very generic. As a sushi hoochie, I get around so much that I was concerned I'd be hyper critical without any intention on being so.
But, I went in with an open mind and ended up being pleasantly surprised by the experience.
First of all, their fast. Really fast. And surprisingly the ingredients were fresh. Very fresh. Love that I could pretty much ask for just about any kind of meat, sauce, veggies, sauce etc and they have it. It was also my very first time seeing an automatic sushi roller machine. Yea, it's pretty serious.
If you love a little crunch action like I do, definitely ask for it on the outside. It will prevent the sog factor if you take your order to go!
Nice little Sushi shop with nice prices to match. The staff is very friendly and the ingredients and fairly fresh. I think the space is a bit big for what they are doing but they stated they were moving to 6th street.
It's very cool seeing the sushi rolls made before your eyes and getting to choose your own innards. They do need more cooked fish options however.
It was very tasty and at a great price. Would make a very good lunch option.
Knowing the guys who own Fusian went to UD, I'm partial to this place. But really the whole staff is friendly and helpful in assisting customers make the tastiest rolls from fresh ingredients.
The concept of this place is great for those who think they don't like sushi since as other have mentioned styled like Chipotle or Subway and you can make your picks and watch them assemble your roll. One roll runs about $7 and typically enough for most people (one roll is 10 pieces).
Interesting concept if it were actually explained to me correctly. The person was new and I had never been here so I had no idea how it worked and that was a bit annoying. Other than that the sushi was super fresh, and the idea of a build your own sushi bar is extremely innovative. I loved the atmosphere. Clean, chic, and inviting. I would probably not go here for dinner, but for a working lunch this place is on the top of my list.
P.S. Don't get two rolls unless you are starving. They are huge and they are each ten pieces compared to the normal eight.
Is it weird that I kinda have a crush on Fusian? Probably. Â But as a few yelpers have pointed out (hey there, Ben N.) it's not really a sushi joint. Â More of a quick lunch/dinner/take out type of joint. Â Maybe that's why its name isn't 'Soho Sushi' anymore.
But anyway, yes, the main idea is that you come here for a choose-your-own-adventure sushi roll. I'm a fan of the options... seaweed or soy wrap, fish or (if you don't eat raw you can get) roasted tofu protein, TONS O'VEGGIE options (including a seasonal each month).
I think the owners are great. They're usually around chatting with customers and making it a friendly and fun place to eat.
Plus, I really like the miso soup here. Â I never really like miso soup, so I guess that means it's a less authentic version.
After all the raving reviews, I had to try out Fusian sushi, especially because I actually work downtown!
At first I was a bit intimidated, there was a pretty long line of customers, a lot of noise and the line was moving quickly so all I could think was "I have no idea how this works, what should I order??". Luckily the guys working at Fusian are extremely friendly and greeted my "Errrm, it's my first time here..." with a very enthusiastic "Great!! Let me explain!". And really, it's as easy as it gets. You choose your wrap (seaweed or soy), then carb, then veggies and then toppings.
If you are used to eating sushi, go with the seaweed wrap, if you're not, the soy may be a better option. Although it looks a very flashy green, it tastes good. I went for the seaweed wrap, with tuna and I just asked the guys to add in the veggies that go well with it. My husband went for the soy wrap with crab sticks and just piled it up with all the veggies he likes and a sweet sauce. The results were very different: I ended up with quite a classic tuna roll and thought it tasted delicious, very fresh. My husband ended up with something that didn't taste like sushi at all, but still delicious.
And I guess that's the point, depending on your tastes or mood of the day you can do whatever you want with your sushi roll - from a classic tuna roll to even a roll with steak in (I do think I'll need to try that one day, however bad that idea sounds!).
So, I loved the food, the friendliness, the concept. The one thing I didn't like was the volume - I would have loved to sit down and have a calm meal, but the space just seems to increase the volume of people talking, so we didn't stick around very long. I guess that's ok as it's supposed to be a quick bite.
Oh and I forgot the edamame as a side - I'm sure I'll order that as a side every single time I'll come in here - delicioso!
See you next week, Fusian ;)
The best way to describe Fusian is "Subway or Chipotle mixed with sushi." Really, though, as Yelper Mary M. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=yllHZ6pUETI6o6oGqV0Ltg">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>) writes, "Some equated it to Subway, and that is probably the most fair assessment -- which is to say their sushi is to a 'real' Japanese sushi experience what Subway is to a 'real' deli-type experience."
You order from a pretty limited menu (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Feasycasualsushi.com%2Fmenu_choose.php&s=04a4c8b3757c68e979443585594fe749a4f9a669c9d4f5daa6cbd1cee9f6270b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://easycasualsushi.c…</a>), and they make your "custom" sushi roll on the spot. It's quick, basic sushi, so it's uber-convenient.
The salad, miso soup, and edamame are good.
If you're looking for high-quality or varied fish or non-roll sushi, though, don't go here. It's decent-quality meat at best, and there are no nigiri or sashimi pieces on the menu, so don't expect to be overwhelmed by sushi greatness.
Consistency. Something that here in Cincinnati we don't have a lot of, our sports teams being the prime example. Maybe we are consistently inconsistent? I digress... I have eaten here about 5 times since my first Fusian experience and they have never failed to provide me with a low-cost, healthy, great tasting meal. I am glad that I don't work downtown because I would come here too much and the special treat factor would go away.
If you are scared of sushi and whatnot, take a chance and get the soy wrap instead of the seaweed wrap, load it up with veggies instead of any of the raw choices (tuna, salmon, and smoked salmon) and spice it up with the ample toppings. Grab a glass of the cucumber water and treat your mouth and wallet to a great meal. The check in offer for edamame appears to be no more, but you get plenty of food out of one roll.
*Check out their interactive "build your own" nutritional page: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.easycasualsushi.com%2Fmenu_nutrition.php&s=bcd1790b0cde26187ec8932dd208a3a507b5a7628f8ef3dcccd06868934d070f" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.easycasualsus…</a>
I tallied mine up and it came to a reasonable 400 calories and only 4g of fat. Not bad.
Fusian is such a great concept. Call it what you may, the "Subway" or "Chipotle" of sushi. It's fast, fresh and very affordable.
I'm fortunate to work a block away from this spot, and it's my go-to for a quick and cheap lunch. I love going through the line to create my roll with the ALWAYS friendly staff, and then top it off with some of their great sauces. I highly recommend ordering double meat or crabmix on top of your sushi for a stay-with-you-all-day kind of meal. Try the cucumber salad too. It's light and tasty!
(Quick tip: Their website has a GREAT nutrition calculator tool. If you're always counting calories like me, you'll appreciate knowing just what you're getting into when you build a roll.)
The good: Â Lots of tofu in the miso soup, perfectly salted edamame
The bad: Â The only raw fish they have for sushi is tuna, salmon, and smoked salmon.
I love the idea of creating your own unique sushi combination, but I don't like the limited selection. Â It seems I would do better at a regular sushi bar leaving a good tip.
Absolutely love this place! While they do have a menu of sushi rolls, I highly recommend creating your own - a la Chipotle or Subway. Start with your choice of the wrap - seaweed or soy - then choose your seafood or meat (they have chicken or steak), or even tofu - then fill the roll with as many extras as you would like, for no extra cost. Some of the filling options I love are cream cheese, asparagus, cucumber, and scallions. Then you can choose a sauce if you would like something other than just straight soy sauce - I recommend their sweet soy with tempura crunch. Mmmmmm... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
My current favorite roll: seaweed with eel or tuna, cream cheese, asparagus and cucumber, topped with sweet soy and tempura crunch
Really good food, great concept, strong implementation, and fair pricing - good enough to get 5 stars from me.
By opening up sushi to the masses, by adding in other main ingredients, by letting you choose what you want, by giving a great value of 10 pieces of sushi per roll . . . just good stuff. Â The rolls themselves are no joke, two rolls for me (a big guy) was more than enough for lunch.
Great service, good options, plus free Edamame with every Yelp check-in, this place is designed for social media fans and people who like to create their own experience. Â Check it out and come on by, you'll be happy you did.
This is the Chipotle of sushi. Â At least that's what I tell my friends that haven't eaten here yet! Â Really though, it is fast food sushi with gourmet taste and style. Â There is something here even for people who can't/won't eat seafood or even seaweed. Â The rolls are big, the food is delicious, the prices are good, and the staff is AWESOME.
Only thing I haven't liked here is the miso soup. Â The edamame, ginger and carrot salad, and every roll I've ever gotten have all been wonderful.
Be prepared if you're going during lunch time on a weekday - long line! Â It goes by quickly though and you can get it to go, which is nice. Â Give the owners a high five - they rock.
I'm not typically a sushi person but couldn't resist the rave reviews from my friends. Â It's a downtown lunch spot that always has a long line - which is usually a good sign. Â I went with a friend and was immediately impressed by the atmosphere - clean, efficient yet trendy and charming. The Chipotle-style sushi operation is well-staffed and organized with friendly servers greeting you at every step of the ordering process. Â
I had steamed edamame which was hot, savory, and fresh - as good as any full-service restaurant. Â My friend ordered sushi, which was made fresh and beautifully presented. They have chopsticks and a neat display of condiments on the tables. Â As we sat down, the line grew longer. Â
Overall, this place is a winner. Â The unique benefit is quick-serve made-to-order sushi. Â I give it high marks for atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Â My only wish is that they expand their non-sushi offering with more sides, salads, and desserts.
I hate seafood!!! I am so anti-seafood that I can't even kiss my husband if he has eaten salmon for dinner. Â I am so sensitive to the taste of it that seaweed wraps taste super fishy to me!
And yet, somehow, I LOVE Fusian. Â
Here is my anti-seafood sushi order:
1. Â Get the soy wrap- Not fishy at all and a very attractive shade of lime green. Â
2. Â Fill your wrap with either steak or chicken. Â I get the chicken as the lower calorie option.
3. Â Have them load it up with every veggie they have. Â I get extra jalapenos!
4. Â Top it with tempura crunch and any of their sauces- I like the spicy mayo.
I LOVE this roll. Â If I worked downtown, I would eat there everyday! Â It doesn't hurt that it is easy on the wallet!
They have great, fresh food. I love the concept. When explaining the concept to people that have never been there I tell them it's like the Chipotle of sushi.
The employees are all friendly and knowledgeable. From what I have seen the employees bend over backwards to help customers out.
The food is reasonably priced as well.
As other reviewers have said, this is kind of like a subway or chipotle of sushi restaurants..given that description before going, my expectations were set pretty low...but I have to say I was very pleasantly suprised....the rolls were good and huge (one is enough for a nice lunch). The fish is fresh and there are even lots of things for people who maybe arent very adventurous (you can get chicken or steak in your roll). I've heard they make the spicy mayo in house and it's very delicious.
Everyone that works there is so excited about the food which is contagious and makes you excited to eat it. Definitely a new downtown lunch favorite
Being able to walk and get Fusian is one of the best things about living downtown.
Fusian is sushi Chipotle-style. You walk in and choose between a seaweed and soy wrap. Their magic rice machine puts rice on your wrap terribly, which the sushi artist then repairs. You then fill your roll with the ingredients and toppings that you want. i know that many of you are thinking that you trust the sushi chefs and that you aren't capable of putting together a quality roll. You're wrong. You've never had a roll with just the ingredients that you want without all the bs.
All the ingredients are quality and the rolls are quite large. My wife and I can have a filling sushi dinner for less than $7 apiece.
My personal roll: seaweed wrap inside-out, jalapeno, carrots, green onions, sesame chili flake, tempura crunch, yakisoba, sriracha and whatever protein I want. (OK, you got me. I usually cannot pass up the steak. I know, it's embarrassing. But steak rolls are seriously good. You can't hate if you haven't tried. Just saying.)
This is the ideal place for a downtown lunch break. I was impressed by the variety and quality of the food, and also by the extreme efficiency of the staff. This place is WELL RUN.
My first time there I walked at 5 past noon on a weekday, so of course there was a line practically out the door. But, the stuff was working at top speed to assemble everyone's made-to-order sushi and their were two employees tending to the customers in line: one to give us free samples of edamame, and one to ask us if we had any questions about the menu. The line moved quickly and the food was well worth the short wait.
Because they make your sushi to order, you can get whatever you want -- which means this place is great for picky eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. They even have PB and J rolls for the kids.
Highly recommen
It should really be a 3.5 stars.
I must admit, I didn't read ALL of the reviews before I went. I decided to visit Fusian bc everyone talked about it and I'm new to the area. I seemed to have overlooked everyone saying that it's like the Chipotle of Sushi because when I walked in I was taken aback by the big menu board and the smiling staff on the other side of the glass partition, ready to make me my sushi creation.
The price is determined by what kind of wrap you choose (soy or seaweed) and then the type of meat (3 raw types and then I think 6 cooked types including Unagi mmmmm). You can have as much veggies as you want as well as sauces so that's nice because I definitely made them pile on the avocado! You know I LOVE my avocado!
I ended up trying:
Unagi Eel wrapped in Seaweed with cream cheese, AVO, cucumber and eel sauce. Simple.
Spicy Salmon wrapped in soy with cream cheese, green onion, AVO, and masgo. Simple as well.
The rice was crunchy which kind of bothered me the entire time I chewed my sushi. I let the manager know who was very helpful just like the staff. I really appreciated their kindness and enthusiasm during our entire experience so it kind of helped with the below par rice situation.
The pricing is great because it comes out to be around $6-$7ish per roll. I understand the hype because of the Create Your Own atmosphere and the low prices but I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for." It was good enough where I'd go back if I were in the area and only had $10 in my pocket.
Still ... I'd recommend everyone to try it. It's a neat experience. How can you not like the sushi that YOU created? Hey, that's on you.
3.5 Stars.
I visited this cool little sushi joint with my yelp pals Catherine J. and Caroline C. Â I was feeling a little dehydrated and woozy from the summer heat and a night of drinking. Â Sushi sounded like a perfect light meal that would revive me and not weigh me down.
The name "Fusian" meh... could be better. Â I had heard that they changed their name from "Soho Sushi" or something. Â That name is pretty lame too.
In the end though, the name doesn't matter. Â This place was pretty fantastically neat. Â You order your sushi roll by lining up and picking out your fillings on the spot. Â First they use a machine that presses the sushi rice onto sheets of nori. Â After picking your fillngs, they hand roll the uhh rolls with bamboo mats and then use another nifty machine that cuts the roll. Â
The prices were great. Â Can't complain about a $6 spicy tuna roll. Â The quality was pretty good. Â The employees were all extremely friendly and made it a point to walk around the restaurant and ask customers how their food was and if they needed anything else. Â You could tell they genuinely cared about their business.
I hear they're opening locations in Columbus and Dayton. Â Can't wait to have one near me!!
A good Yelp friend brought me here on a recent visit to the 'Nati. Now that I'm back in Columbus and people are asking me about my weekend-- I find myself talking about this place first!
It's the Chipotle-format, for sushi (or is that the Subway format?). You know what I mean: pick your "bones" at the beginning of the line and build as you go with fillings, sauces, garnishes, etc. Hey, it works. It's fast. It's fresh. I'm happy.
The speed is accomplished through these various sushi-aiding machines, though the actual roll is still rolled by hand.
The owners are really cute, and so is everybody who works there. You can definitely tell that everyone part of this place is excited about it and cares about the business. I think that always gets passed to the customer in the form of a good experience. We were in on a slow Saturday afternoon, all the employees took their time to ask how we were doing, and one of the owners visited our table to make sure everything was going smoothly. He did it in a proud, excited way-- not intrusive.
I got the "Surf & Turf" which is probably not something I'd get in a sit-down sushi restaurant (with cooked steak in it), but it totally did the trick here. It was filling, unusual, and delicious. I got a little overwhelmed by all the options so I went with one of the pre-designed rolls from the menu.
If your custom roll didn't fill you up (and it will), don't forget the sides! Even though they came in paper containers, they felt to me like little pods of fresh Japanese goodness. Our table shared the small order of edamame, and I slurped a bright-tasting seaweed salad.
Finally, the pricing here is pretty fantastic. I'd say it's on  par with any other sushi roll joint in town-- maybe even a little less expensive considering the size of the rolls. And the sides are more than reasonable, with under $3 a pop.
I hope this concept/business expands into Columbus. And if it does come to Columbus, I hope it's near my office. This would be the perfect thing for a workweek quick lunch.
It's been about three months since my last glowing review of Fusian. In fact, it was still Soho Sushi back then! My how times have changed!
I eat here at least once a week. All of the staff knows me by name and remembers details of my life. If Josh (one of the owners) is working, my meal even comes with a hug. I have aspirations that one day they will name a sushi roll after me. That's still in the works.
The sushi remains as delicious as ever. I've moved on to spicy tuna rolls for the summer (my other favorite, crab w/ spicy mayo, is my cold-weather pick.) Pretty much everything here is good. I've even ventured outside the box to try the eel and chicken! Yum!
Fusian is now offering up bubble smoothies, which are similar to bubble tea. They currently have two all-natural flavors: Raspberry Currant and Mango. I'm a mango fanatic, so of course I loved that drink. However, the Raspberry Currant took me by surprise. It may have even outshined the Mango! Like I mentioned before, EVERYTHING here is delicious.
At just $7.50 for a 10-piece customizable, specialty sushi roll, and $3.00 for the smoothies, Fusian is my favorite place to eat in Cincinnati.
I have been here dozens, literally dozens of times. I love Fusian. My car will automatically point itself in their general direction at 7pm most weeknights. I have grown to know the 3 co-owners over my many visits and they are all really enthusiastic, friendly guys who have a great idea here.
If you've never been here then you're in for a treat, your greeted to the same line up that you'd experience at a Chipotle, you can gaze at the menu of options of menu rolls, or you can create your own custom roll. They welcome questions and are eager to help you find something that you will enjoy. If I may make a suggestion try the Surf and Turf Roll. It's basically a california roll with steak marinated in Yakisoba sauce. It. Is. So. Good. They have other familar favorites from your local sushi restaurant, edamame, seaweed salad and miso soup.
Their rolls are so affordable and delicious I end up eating here almost weekly. They make one heck of a bargain sushi tray as well. You can get an 80 piece sushi tray for either $60 or $70. I'm glad I found out about Fusian and I can't wait for what they come up with next.
