I live a few doors down for this Thai spot formerly inhabited by Tatong, and I am excited to have In-In so close by. I have had better curries -- the red curry with lychee sauce was okay -- but the noodle dishes are top notch! Â I cannot speak to the quality of the sushi (never tried it), but the fish always looks fresh and the sushi chef is nice. Â Overall the food is worth a return visit, and the staff is kind and helpful.
Review Source:Thai/Japanese restaurants seem everywhere now, but this place is not at all ordinary.
While most of the menu is Japanese, the Thai selections are what really interested me. The first thing that caught my eye was the Thai Basil Chicken. Most Thai places have some variation of this, but these guys have the most authentic version in Chicago that I've tried. A few places have it with ground chicken, this is the only one I know of here that serves it with a fried egg. I asked for it spicy, and it was (delicious too).
On a second trip we tried the Red Curry and Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was very nice, but the Red Curry was really, really good. I love curries but sometime stay away from them because they don't have much in the way of veggies. The description mentions a lychee sauce, but didn't say anything about the asparagus, broccoli and zucchini that came with it. We also got an order of the California rolls. I'm no expert on Japanese food, but I thought they were good though the sliced lemons they were nestled against gave them a flavor I didn't really want.
Both times I went, I just happened to be walking by and was placing an order for take out, so I had to wait there for my food. The first time they brought me hot tea and the second time they gave me two very tasty pieces of maki called volcano (one tuna, the other scallop). These complimentary acts of hospitality may have been because the place was empty, and is just starting out, but I really hope they make it.
If you like the small hole in the wall type restaurant with unique and delicious food, and hospitable service, you owe it to yourself to try this place.
I began going to this sushi restaurant when I moved in about 1/2 a block away from it. Â Then, it was called Ta Tong, and it was great. Â Now, it's called In In, and it's.... PHENOMENAL. Â The staff is attentive and kind, and the sushi is fantastic.
I always stick to maki when I'm ordering sushi, and I usually get the spicy tuna, the philadlephia, and the california. Â I liked the volcano at Ta Tong, and at In In, there are two kinds of volcano. Â I asked the chef to pick his favorite to make for me, and he made the tako volcano, which was the most delicious piece of sushi I've ever eaten.
The service is always great and delivery is always fast. Â Wonderful.
