3 stars only because I love the food. However, service is greatly subpar. I live in Gurnee and go to work in Deerfield and I always prefer the Deerfield Jimmy John's to this one. They welcome you as soon as you walk in the door, always have a great attitude, always a sub ready when I'm done paying or when I finish filling my soda at the least, and say thanks for coming as you leave the restaurant. This one, no greeting as I walk in, an unenthusiastic cashier that rang me up even before I mentioned that I wanted chips and a drink, had to wait a little for my sub after I got my drink ready, and nothing was said as I walked out the door.
Again I love the food and that's why I love going here, but they just don't make you feel like a valued customer. Well, there's always subway right across the street...
I agree with some of the past reviews; the service seems to be the main negative review about this place. Â That, and they are not as fast as they claim to be. Â What I know of Jimmy John's is how fast their service was in my home town of Milwaukee on Marquette Campus. Â Always open late for the munchies, cheap, and quite fast. Â Not the case with this one. Â What ever happened to helping the customer? Â They just throw a bag at you to put your sandwhich in and point at the napkins.
Review Source:Nor sure what it is about this location, they just really don't have any clue about customer service. I've been to probably 20 different Jimmy John's and this has to be the worst when we're talking customer service. Food is actually great, pretty much the only reason they got 2 stars. However, nearly every time I go in, I'm never offered a bag, or even told the sandwich is ready. Even when there are many people ordering, and I've got cookies, chips and a drink, sure I'm gonna juggle all that.... not. I literally have to reach over the counter to grab a bag and bag it all myself. Also I've been in there and only I ordered a sub and chips (had a drink in the car), it doesn't mean I want a sub chips and a drink, not the second or third time I say it either! Lots of work in the customer service area here, I know it's just a sandwich chain, but simply listening and offering a bag if the customer has more than one item would vastly improve things!
Review Source:Service, service, service. I would be willing to bet that the reason that I'm unhappy is that the owner is not the manager in question.
Saturday, 05/14/11. I asked my mother-in-law to call in with an order for 30 sandwiches. The time of the call, 9:40AM. They opened in twenty minutes. The young lady that answered the phone took the order. We told her we'd be by to pick up between 12:00 and 12:30. She then informed us that she couldn't take the order because the manager told her the store's not open yet.
Service, service, service. Hey, there's a Subway right across the street. There are LOTS of places that I can spend my money. If you are going to take down the information and then NOT take the order, I'll spend my money elsewhere... and I won't come back. Give me piss poor service and I'll tell a LOT more than two friends.
I do not know what Reviewer Nick's problem is with the service - maybe he had one bad go of it. Â After eating Jimmy John's for years, we moved to Gurnee and use this location as well as the one in Grayslake on Washington. Â I've been here at least 30+ times ordering for a family of 4, and 90% of the time the sandwiches are done before I finish paying for them. Â And they are truly great sandwiches. Â I personally love #10, #11 and #12.
Review Source:I've been going to Jimmy John's ever since I first discovered them on my older sister's college campus in the late '90s and have been a die hard fan ever since.
So it goes without saying that when I learned a JJ's opened in my home town, I was really happy. Â Granted, I don't live there anymore but it gives me something to look forward to when I visit.
Well, I visited this past weekend and made my inaugural visit to the Gurnee JJ's and man, I gotta say I was a little bummed.
Granted, JJ's food is always consistent from location to location and my sandwich in and of itself was par.
It's the service that hurts this place.
Whatever happened to "Subs So Fast You'll Freak!"??? Â
I remember the days of going to Jimmy John's, giving my order and having a sandwich in my hand before my change for crying out loud. Â At the Gurnee location I was standing at the end of the counter tapping my foot for in the neighborhood of five minutes. Â FIVE MINUTES!!!
This is NOT what I've come to expect from Jimmy John's. Â Hell, it's not what Jimmy John himself expects from Jimmy John's ... wherever he is.
This is unacceptable. Â I want my Jimmy John's and I want it now dammit! Â That is way it's supposed to be.
Subs So Fast You'll Freak.
Oh I'm freakin' alright, but not at how fast the subs are. Â Quite the opposite actually.
Get it together Gurnee Jimmy John's. Â You're making the rest of the family look bad.
