DO NOT DINE HERE!!! This was by far one of the worst dining experiences that my husband and I have had!  We came with 14 of our friends and we received bad treatment from the waitress the entire time. It took a very long time for our food to be received, and when it was the food was absolutely disgusting!!! Unfortunately all of us were unhappy with the service and the food, which is very unusual for such a big group! WE WILL NEVER DINE HERE AGAIN!!!

Will NEVER COME BACK to this place. Waitress was rude, food was terrible and overpriced. Had to go elsewhere later to have a real meal. Please dont take chances this place is not worth it.

    La Bonne Crepe!

It all began on a walk to the beach. I stopped inside a local art gallery when a giraffe painting caught my eye. The owner directed me to La Bonne Crepe after hearing my stomach make that awkward noise that one only notices when watching a silent film with a significant other. I couldn't help but notice the cozy cafe set up as I made my way to the front door. To my surprise, I was treated like royalty when I announced who referred me. I later tried that same scheme at the Bentley shop down the block but failed miserably.

I already knew what I wanted to order so a menu was not necessary. I ordered a strawberry and nutella crepe. As you might have noticed (from the picture I posted), the crepe looked nothing like your average French desert. In fact, my plate was topped with nutella-covered strawberries and a side of cone-shaped batter heated to the degrees of bisquick.

I observed the strangest things as I sat outside the patio. There was a mismatched couple holding hands singing Vietnamese karaoke, a murder of crows letting loose on the windshields of three freshly washed BMW's and I can't forget the young man who insisted that the IRS owed him money. That one actually made me laugh!

The desert price was perfectly in line with the overall package and I am very stringent (to say the least) when it comes to value, scenery, cleanliness, quality, customer service, timeliness and providing a welcoming atmosphere. They were all to my liking. I would highly recommend La Bonne Crepe to others and return for another delicious treat!

No way.  Never again.  Attitude given by the hostess from the moment we walked up (which should have been my frist clue to keep walking), the waitress was rude as well.  Quickly took our orders with a rushed attitude (restaurant was not busy), plopped our food in front of us without a word.  We said thank you and she just walked away.  Happened EVERY SINGLE TIME she came to our table.  The food was ok.  We ordered savory crepes but the crepes themselves were a bit sweet.  Most crepe places I've been to use a sweet crepe for the sweet crepes and a non-sweet crepe (sometimes an herbed crepe) for the savory ones.  No thanks.  Will never go back.

cross off the EGGS BENEDICT as a menu "specialty"

it was ALL standard (sysco henry lee cheney bros etc) from the muffin to the ham to the holandaise sauce

being ON LAS OLAS i cannot hold charging $18 for the order which included coffee and tax and tip during "season" and the place has been there forever so it must be doing something right with the CREPEs

oh yeah if you want a croissant .......fugedaboudit !.....they don't have them, so,  so much for the french theme of the place

but if people-watching is your thing this is one of the many places on las olas

When I walked up to the outdoor entrance, a server glared at me and looked away quickly. I asked him if lunch was being served yet. He gave me a grunt which I guess was supposed to mean yes. I figured he didn't speak English well and that is why we were having this awkward moment. I walked passed him into the restaurant to ask someone if I may be seated, since grunty had no desire to hook me up with a table. The hostess inside took me and my guest to a nice table outside.
I had the chicken with gruyere and bechamel sauce. It was as bland as could be. I never use salt in restaurants, but I had to add some to make it edible. How about some seasoning? Maybe some tarragon. Come on.
To top it off, I heard grunty talking with a large party, and he spoke perfect English. He was just a rude SOB. I won't be going back.

I don't know what kind of day the chef was having when other reviewers here went to LBC but Our meal recently was awful. I ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and gazpacho  (both appetizer size) and my partner had the escargot in some kind of ratatouille sauce and the Niçoise salad with seared tuna.
First the mushrooms : the crab had definitely been frozen a long time and mixed with such a high proportion of breading that it had no flavor. So dry and tasteless that I put the dish aside after one bite. I must add that the marinara-like sauce served around the mushrooms was good, But Not enough to justify the price though! Next gazpacho was decent to good, my partner's Niçoise was ok but the tuna was dry, dry, dry and had an almost chlorine like taste. So that was left untouched. His escargot were themselves cooked tender, but the sauce around it was nit very flavorful.
Overall one of the worst meals I have had in a restaurant in a while.  Most surprising is that the waitress didn't once ask us if there was something wrong even though we sent virtually everything back barely touched. A $70 mistake that I won't make again.

Sooooo me and my friends decided to travel down here one afternoon after nursing a hangover from a night of excessive drinking for birthday celebrations. We were staying at the Riverside on Las Olas (the cheaper, but not totally shitty, hotel) and decided we weren't driving anywhere, so we walked down the street looking for something new. We stumbled into La Bonne Crepe and decided to try it (I bet you guessed that since I'm writing a review for it).

We looked at the menu and realized it was basically exclusively crepes, something I should have picked up on from the name. The waitress seemed alright, wasn't bad but not friendly either. Service was ok from what I remember, but nothing special. I read a lot of complaints about it, which I could see happening. I decided to get a tuna crepe with gruyere cheese and something else. I know, that mystery third thing sounds delicious. I guess I didn't take time to remember ingredients because I was busy ripping into it like a tiger on a gazelle. It was good. Very good. And man, that was a huge piece of crepe (get it?) they gave me. It was enough for a meal and then some. I decided I wasn't trying to impress anyone, so I finished the whole thing like a rabid animal. They were moderately priced from what I remember (around $10-$20) and was worth it. If you're a fan of crepes, this is definitely one to try. Seemingly authentic and delicious.

Awesome for dinner or just a treat!  We ordered & shared the cheese, turkey & bacon crepe.  It was HUGE and delicious!  We also got Johnnys favorite dessert crepe & all 3 shared it.  OMG!  I thought I had died & gone to heaven!

One of the cooler things about La Bonne Crepe is that the staff speaks French. Oui, oui! That may ease any doubts about the authenticity of the crepes here.

We originally spotted LBC driving along Las Olas the night before and I made a mental note to make sure and try it out before we left Florida. The next morning, we were searching for a good brunch place when I remembered -- CREPES!

We made our way to Las Olas. You can park in designated pay lots or use the metered parking along the street. We were told that crepes were not available till 1pm. Huh? Something about the breakfast menu changing to the lunch menu, but I still didn't really get it. You would think a crepe place would serve crepes all day. So we patiently waited till 1 and came back.

The wait was worth it. I ordered a crepe with Gruyere (most of the crepes have Gruyere; if not, bechamel sauce -- or both), apple compote and ham. Can't go wrong with a salty and sweet combo, right?

Our crepes came out pretty quick. They were pretty damn big, too. One is definitely enough for a meal. I can't imagine getting a savory crepe for a meal and then a sweet one for dessert. For the apple compote, I was picturing something not unlike apple pie filling, but I got several huge peeled apple slices that were cooked down and did not have much sauce. Still good though. The ham was not too salty, which was nice. I would have eaten every last bite of my crepe, but I could see the others had leftovers and I didn't want to look like a pig. Oink oink. I probably left two bites' worth on the plate, haha.

I saw some reviewers mentioned slow service, but I didn't see any of that. We got served quickly, she checked on us a few times, the food came out in a timely manner... but to offer an explanation of any slow service, that's just how Europeans are. Diners tend to enjoy very slow, drawn-out meals and the service accommodates that.

Came here for dessert crepes only, but my company and I thoroughly enjoyed our strawberry and peaches melba crepes. They were big enough to share (we shared 2 between 4 people) and were served with a generous scoop of ice cream.

Good dessert to finish the night on Fort Laudy's most happening boulevard.

I was in Ft Lauderdale over the weekend and stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning.  The food was great! We had the "duo" and the banana crepes, the crepes were stuffed with bananas and walnuts, and the duo was just marvelous.
The service on the other hand.. . . . . . .I will chalk it up as a cultural experience. I've dined in France before, so no big deal.

If you ever find yourself in Ft. Lauderdale, cooling your jets till the soonest plane can get you out of there, just say, 'NO' to this place.

Worst club sandwich ever...I have no idea how they could ruin a basic sandwich like this, but it was dry, tasteless, and had no dressing on the bread...very little of anything except some extremely dessicated turkey.

Need I say more? probably not. You get the picture.

Excellent.  I was alone and they didn't make me feel awful for taking up a 4 top table like many places do - particularly when the place was packed.  I had crepe w/gruyere, ratatouille and chicken liver - loved it.  In and out on Sun at 1pm in 30 min.

Dine al fresco, and enjoy one of their many delicious crepe offerings. A great selection of breakfast and lunch choices, as well as dessert crepes that will linger in your sweet memory forever. Warm bread and crisp flat breads were brought to the table, along with cold butter. My turkey/apple/gruyere crepe was very good, but lacked something that made it less than great. Next time, I'm gunna go for it and try the escargot.  My friend enjoyed her egg white crepe with Gruyere, sauteed mushrooms and spinach... she ate every last bite!  Good menu, pleasant service, and the best location in Ft. Lauderdale, Le Bonne Crepe is a French delight.  There's even a pet station offering water to keep your furry friend hydrated.  He or she can also join you table-side, as pups are welcome at several venues along the boulevard. Bon Apetit Yelps!

I went here recently and learned that crepes are for more than just dessert...haha.
I ordered a lunch crepe with a bechamel, mushrooms and chicken. Seeing as how I've been wanting to taste what a bechamel is for a while now, I was happy to see that i liked it and as I had guessed, was pretty rich.
PS, the crepe was MASSIVE! I'm clearly a rookie when it comes to crepes seeing as how I was surprised by just about everything on their menu, haha.
-Service: Our waitress was pretty astute and checked up on us many times.
    -Food: Very tasty :D
I'll definitely come back again... but next time for a dessert crepe, my lunch crepe totally stuffed me, haha.

I really like this place, but I avoid it for the tourists on Las Olas. The food is nice, quick, nice service and good portions. Of course parking is a bitch as everything in las Olas. My friends had the crepes --lots of crepe options too--, I had the onion soup, everything was delicious, and I remember having a salad last time which was great too!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Yelp community - my sincerest apologies for not consulting you before dining here.  Trust me, after this experience, I will NEVER eat anywhere new without checking in with you all.

This really was a bad experience from start to finish; from the moment we entered the place until the moment we left.  The "lady" (quotes intentional) who "greeted" (again, intentional) us was as unwelcoming as they come, the restaurant itself was dark and dirty and the food was...insipid, bland, old and expensive!

We were seated and told that if we wanted crepes that they wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes or so.  Did I misread the sign on the door?  Nevermind.  OK, so we ordered some appetizers.  The gazpacho, a house "specialty," (there are those quotes again!) tasted like it originated from a jar of Chef Boyardee, the salad had clearly just been unleashed from a prepackaged bag of greens - and not washed - and the onion soup was entirely flavorless.

The fun continued with the arrival of our entrees.  Three of us ordered the sausage, gruyere and egg crepe and the nonconformist at the table had the vegetarian.  To be fair, my S,G&E crepe was the only one where the meat tasted like it was well past the due date.  However, even if it had been fresh, the pathetic mélange of ingredients, completely lacking in seasoning, would've been barely acceptable.  Probably the bigger surprise / disappointment was the tomato-y stock that bathed the vegetarian crepe - it was identical to the Boyardee gazpacho!  While very poor foodie-form, I have to give the chef an A-plus for such  imaginative re-purposing.  Did I mention that the crepes were strangely sweet and crispy, kind of like a potato chip?

Just to put a little icing on the bitter cake, or béchamel on the crepe, I happened upon our brusque waiter whilst visiting the men's room, and wouldn't you know that he left behind a quite fragrant and unflushed offering in the stall...

In retrospect, based on the location and the less-than-stellar Zagat score, - again, sorry Yelpers - I should've expected what we got - an expensive, tourist-oriented, rude, just-fill-the-gut place with little in the way of charm, character or any other redeeming feature.  Do yourselves a favor and avoid this place like the Great Plague of Marseilles.

Finally, after several missed opportunities, I had dinner here and I was so happy I did.  And I would love to give it 5 stars because I do think the food worthy but the service is lacking.  Yes, they are not rude but they do not go out of their way for you at all.

I had the chicken, bechemal and gruyere crepe.  The presentation was amazing.  The taste was outstanding because the ingredients were good quality and fresh.  Nice chunks of chicken not diced pre-made chicken and the sauce was rich and velvety.

I was with friends who do not indulge in dessert so I will have what looked heavenly dessert another time.

I would have liked a glass of water but once she delivered the food, she was gone and did not return until she delivered the check.

Don't let that deter you and for heaven sakes, it is a Creperie, order a crepe!!!!!!!

(2.25 stars) La Bonne Crepe has definite high's and low's, making a review difficult.

On the upside, the place looks quaint from Las Olas, and is one of the more effective places in keeping their outdoor diners separated from passersby.  They offer enough dinner variety to please almost anybody.  Portions are quite large; sufficient to quell a man-sized appetite.  Their preparations are executed well, and from quality ingredients.  There are a variety of non-crepe continental entrees, but if this were my objective there are enough proven continental restaurants nearby.

On the downside, the view from inside the dining room shows less charm and more wear.  Prices are very high in relation to the value received; $15 for a crepe with scrambled eggs, bacon and Gruyere-- no matter how good-- is definitely outside the envelope.  Service is slow, inattentive and mechanical; bad enough to significantly detract from the dining experience.

I've been intrigued by their dessert offerings, but haven't tried any.  The notion of following a crepe with another crepe erodes much of the appeal.  More to the point, however, I've been too disappointed with the service standard to want to extend the dining experience.

We were on vacation and having a walk along Las Olas during the afternoon and decided to grab a quick lunch here - we passed by at night and saw it was a cute Parisian flare that we wanted to try.  We sat on the patio outside and our waitress was extremely nice and accomodating.

Of course, I ordered a crepe, and friend a turkey club.  My crepe had sausage, mushrooms and beschemel sauce.  It was HUGE, and heavy.  Very decadent.  The crepe itself is actually pretty hard/crispy.  I am used to softer crepes - but they were still good.

Food was yummy - I would go here for lunch again - dinner seemed from observation to be a bit more on the casual side.

When I'm in Fort Lauderdale, it's hard not to come here for dessert EVERY night.

First of all, the crepes are huge.......and they make their own caramel and chocolate sauces (both of which are incredible and taste so much better than the jarred crap). Combine one of the sauces with ice cream and fruit, and you have one awesome crepe.

They also have a full menu of savory crepes and other regular dinner entrees which I have yet to try. Go for the dessert, you won't be disappointed.

Food was great. One of the owners daughters was our server. She was too busy chatting with friends in town from out of town. No refills on my water. Did not drop off cream at our table. Bummer that service dropped by 4 star rating down to 3.

I am here from Canada and wanted to try something we don't have in Edmonton.  And I found it!

I stumbled onto this gem while wandering on Las Olas Blvd.  I saw the mouthwatering huge selection of crepes and gourmet ingredients and knew I had to try this place.

My waitress was a gal from Montreal and French, so we were off to a great start.

To start with I had a cappuccino which was excellent.  This is not your Stabucks  crap you over pay for around America.  This was the real thing with such a good espresso base I could have drank that all day if I had the room.

Then I ordered the chicken with gruyere cheese, ratatoulli (which is like an eggplant mix).  It came beautifully presented inside a large crafted crepe roll.  I knew this dish would taste excellent just by looking at it.

The eggplants were perfect, not too spicy, most of the chicken and cheese were towards the back of the crepe, so you get most of the eggplant in the front.  By the time you get to the chicken, you wil be full so keep that in mind.  When I got to the chicken covered with beishmel and cheese.....was it ever so good.  I wish I had started with that first because I was now pushing my quantity limit.  You will not leave hungry.

Overall it is a fine restaurant and very high quality.

Will come back any day here.

My friends and I went here for a Sunday brunch during our vacation in June.  I had to say this was one of the BEST meals I had during our 5 day stay in Ft Lauderdale.  (It probably helped that we starving and wilted from walking up and down Ola street in the muggy heat too.)

A lot of places get crepes wrong---too eggy, too flabby, too rubbery---so the crispy crepe was definitely a good change.  I had the Crepe Nova Superbe with smoked salmon and asparagus.  It wasn't a pretentious frou frou dish; just something refreshingly simple and tasty.  I'm a big smoked salmon fan so I kept eating with a big smile on my face and making "mmmm" noises that I'm sure embarrassed my friends.  As for the crepe, I tasted a hint of vanilla and it was light and crispy and divine.  Everything complimented really well.  I would ask for the bechamel sauce on the side unless you're a bechamel fanatic.  My friend had the Seared Tuna crepe and you couldn't see anything except a bechamel pond.  I tried my other friend's Mediterranean Nicoise salad and the seared tuna was perfection.  (She said she needed the fiber for...well, you know LOL).

We were seated after about 5 minutes.  The restaurant was packed, but our waitress was very attentive, coming back often to refill our glasses and accommodating my bechamel on the side request with a smile.  All in all, a great place.  Now, I'm trying to find the time to duplicate the crepe at home.  We'll see!

Let's start out by saying, i do like this place. The food is amazing, the atmosphere was nice and the wait staff was attentive, yet low pressure. I completely recommend this place for Breakfast at least.

The one thing i did not like and it may seem small, but it is a pet peeve of mine. The owner refused to seat my wife and i because our full party was not with us. Now I understand this policy if you had a party of 6 or more because you have to rearrange furniture etc., but we were a party of four and they only have four seat tables inside the restaurant, so even if we had been sat, we would have been seated at a table for four. So instead of being able to sit down and have a cup of coffee with my wife, we had to wait. Unfortunately the place is small, so we really couldn't wait inside, so we had to go outside in the heat and mugginess of South Florida.

After 15 minutes, we finally went inside and the owner decided to seat us., it probably helped that there was a number of empty tables and no one waiting, so it made no sense to make us wait any longer. The bottom line is that it is a stupid rule, especially for Breakfast/Brunch which is supposed to be a laid-back meal. It literally added a level of stress to our breakfast that should not have been there.

Fortunately, once we were seated, the service was quick, the meals were delicious and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation. I had the Ham and Swiss Crepes, i give it a 10. My wife and one of our friends had one of the scramblers and they loved it. My other friend had the waffles, she liked those as well and had enough to take home for a snack. The  irritating policy (especially for only four people) was the only downside. it really takes away from the european atmosphere. i've been to Europe dozens of time and just don't remember being that stressed over sitting for breakfast.

    Holy crêpe!

I should probably tell you up front that I've never had a bad crêpe. However, I suspect that is because I've always treated them as breakfast or dessert. Take something and slather enough butter, maple syrup, fresh fruit and crème anglaise on it and my chances of liking it rise astronomically!

And that's exactly what I had: the "duo platter" consisting of both french toast and crêpes, accompanied by all of the above. The coffee was very good as well.

This is a smallish cafe with indoor/outdoor seating, a classic upscale/relaxed feel and a fashionable address. Considering the location, the prices seem fair enough and were on par with another local French spot.

A metered parking lot is conveniently located directly behind this block of businesses. To get from the parking lot out to the entrance on Las Olas Boulevard, you then follow a narrow alleyway... kind of gives you that crêpey feeling.

I don't really know much or anything about French cuisine.  I know a crepe is basically a skinny yet tasty pancake with cool things inside it.  I know, I know... cultured right?  But this place really knocked me on my ass with a crepe that was seriously a multiple sitting type meal.  Not living in the area I hopped on yelp and took the recommendation of a fellow yelper to get the turkey, bacon, tomato & gruyere crepe.  (FYI the rest of this review will ONLY discuss that crepe)

    HOLY DAMMNIT CHRISTMAS!

This wasn't a crepe.  This was some architecturally sound, crepe based structure stuffed with a cornucopia of epicness.  That may not make sense but let me explain...

The turkey is NOT the deli turkey you'd expect from any old sandwich place.  This is FRESH COOKED/CARVED turkey.  Yeah that's right.  I wouldn't be shocked if that turkey had a head 20 minutes before it was on my plate, but this stuff was delicious chucks of fresh turkey and blew my f'ing mind.

The tomatoes come cooked to squishy perfection and obviously came from a batch of sweet and fresh produce.  This could be a product of being from FL instead of MA, but I may be speculating.  Regardless, I had never been psyched about tomatoes before.  I mean seriously... they are tomatoes...

Lastly the piece de resistance was the monumental PILE of bacon and Gruyere cheese that made the bulk of this beast.  I'd had both bacon and fancy cheese in a crepe before, but the over abundance in quantity of each seriously forced me to put down the crepe, admit defeat, and take a second stab at finishing it hours later.

Las Olas might be a great neighborhood to walk around, but local, or tourist, you NEED to take this crepe on, and take it seriously.  You may be defeated as I was... but your children... and your children's children will know that you stood your ground in the delicious battle.  And that's what's important.

Yeah, so I liked my meal...

    Yum!

A Las Olas staple. The place has been here forever. I often forget about it in the quest to try all the new stuff but really, you can't go wrong with this place for brunch, lunch or a casual dinner. Seating can be hard to come by depending on how busy the boulevard is but worth the wait.

This is my favorite brunch place on Las Olas.  Seating options are limited but there is indoor and outdoor tables.  Whatever the wait time may be, it's worth it  (entertain yourself next door at the cool artsy store)...

The crepes are the best of anywhere.  Soft yet crisp just where they should be.  There are an array of fillings and everyone has their own fav.  I love the gruyere with escargot.  I also like the tomato, bacon, and gruyere but I don't recommend you go off of my preferences-  pick your own!  Well actually, share with someone because they are huge and then get a second one for dessert!!  The Johnny is a crowd pleaser for sure.

Besides the crepes, I suggest you order yourself a french onion soup!  The pre meal breads are really good too.  We like the sangria as well.

    Bon Appetit!

Side note- crepes aren't available until 1pm.

Parking tip- there is a pay lot right behind the restaurant that you can walk through a little alley way which leads right to front door!

Only reviewing on my dessert experience.

Our waiter was extremely nice and seated us even after they were starting to shut down the kitchen. We only wanted dessert, so he agreed.

We had asked for cappuccinos but since the machines were already closed for business, we just had regular coffee-- which wasn't bad. I ordered the strawberry and banana crepe. It was really good, especially the yummy ice cream they give it to you with! Delicious. It was a big plate though, couldn't finish it on my own! Next time, I will definitely share! My friends and hubby all had different style crepe's and they loved theirs too.

Overall, we had a good experience. I'd like to go back and check out their dinner/lunch menu.

A fairly solid eatery located on the Las Olas strip. I started off with the baked brie appetizer, and although it was good, I had to ask  for honey since it only comes with fruit on the side and baked bread. Trust me, the honey makes all the difference.

For the main meal I had one of the signature crepes (the Orleans) which includes chicken, Gruyere cheese, and tomato. It was savory and delicious, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish all of it. Sadly, I had to skip a dessert crepe, but I'm sure I'll be back to try one out, they have a large menu dedicated just to the dessert crepes - many which seemed quite enticing.

I had really high hopes for this place after being in the wrong place at the wrong time during my vacation in ft lauderdale and eating at several chain restaurants.

I am in the restaurant business so I delight in eating in new cities in hopes of finding something new and exciting.  This could have been a great meal.

Everything started good.  Wine list small but sufficient.  Starter of coquilles st. Jacques was very good and filled with fresh seafood.

Ordered flat iron steak, caramelized onion  & gruyere crepe in a red wine & mushroom sauce.

The good= steak was cooked proper medium rare.  Crepe was nice, large, crispy.  Cheese was gruyere, not a cheap Swiss.

The bad= the mushrooms and onions had NO caramelization on them whatsoever.  They both might as well have been boiled.  The sauce?  Gravy.  Heavy brown gravy with the slighest hint of red wine.  And way too much of it.

My partner had a Caesar salad - meh.  And she had a turkey, bacon, tomato & gruyere crepe.  It tasted like a dry club sandwich on a crepe.  But the turkey was real roasted turkey so I give them that.

Server was a little cheesy but fine until the end of our meal when he was too busy waiting on the other 3 tables that burried him.  We were going to try a dessert crepe but by the time he actually got back to us we were over it.

All in all, too expensive to forgive the mistakes.  With a little more care, it could have been wonderful.

Standard French fare with a twist (the crepes, of course). Though the menu could use some revamping, the crepes are well made (you will have a hard time finding that texture and composition at many restaurants in Florida) and the food is good. In my opinion, it is a restaurant better apt for breakfast or lunch occasions, which they seem to do well at. It's not fine dining and the portions are American size (huge)--so I do not see a reason to complain, as Americans are the intended market, are they not?

I suppose stay away from the negative reviews that do not focus on the food and try it out yourself, though I would agree that on my most recent visit, the crepe was too full of bechamel (I had the seared tuna crepe, with gruyere cheese). Even with that, it was still good...and if anything, why I stop in Ft. Lauderdale when I drive to Miami.

I know most people associate crepe with dessert...

If so...snap out of it.  La Bonne Crepe serves delicacies like chicken livers and sea scallop crepe dishes that are outstandingly paired with awesome sauces.

And they are more than happy to pair your dish with wine...

I would also highly recommend sitting outside at night...adds to the ambiance on Las Olas Blvd.!

I have been wanting to try crepes for the longest time and Sunday was the day it happened.  First, I must say, I did go into this restaurant with preconceptions of what a crepe should be: soft, malleable, not overly doughy, etc.  Second, I had every intention of eating a savory and a sweet crepe to try and satisfy my curiosity.  As there were two of us at the table, we ordered the following items:

    Bread and crackers with butter
    Onion soup au gratin
    Nova Superbe Crepe
    Egg, Bacon and Gruyere Crepe
    Bananes et Caramel Crepe

The waitress, when asked, brought us a basket of bread and crackers as well as some pre-packaged butter (frozen slivers).  The bread was crusty on the outside, soft on the inside and had a wonderful taste and texture overall.  While we were eating the bread, the Onion Soup au Gratin (French Onion) arrived at the table.  This soup was a first for me; not because I have never had Onion Soup, but because of the fact that it tasted to be made with a vegetable/tomato stock base rather than a beef or chicken stock base.  It was not offensive in the least, in fact, it was rather tasty.

As we finished the soup, our savory crepes arrived at the table.  I was somewhat perplexed by the shape and texture of the crepes -- they were crispy.  I had always heard that crepes were soft.  I moved forward, though, and began to disect the small sculpture in front of me (I had the Nova Superbe and my friend the Egg Bacon and Gruyere).  The Nova Superbe was constructed from Nova Salmon, asparagus, capers and Bechemel sause; the other crepe was obvious due to its name.  I had the Bechemel delivered on the side just to make certain that too much was not placed on the crepe.

The Nova was salty.  I have eaten a lot of Nova in my life, and it has never been as salty as it was at La Bonne Crepe.  The Bechemel was required to temper the saltiness of the Nova, if for nothing else.  The crepe composition, overall, was somewhat lackluster.  The ingredients never truly became one dish (Nova Superbe), but instead remained as disparate items on my plate.  I do not believe the rigidness/crispness of the crepe helped in this integration.  While the flavor was not bad, I do not believe I would order it again.

Since I had made a pact with myself to try both types of crepe, I proceded to order the sweet crepe after the waitress removed the entree plates.  When reading the description for the bananes et caramel, my mind shifted to the thought of fried bananas in a rich caramel sauce over ice cream and a soft and sweet crepe.  I don't know why I thought that the bananas would be fried.  Suffice it to say, when the sweet crepe arrived, I was disappointed.  Not so much because of the lack of fried bananas, but because of the caramel sauce.  The caramel sauce did not taste like caramel.  It tasted like a sweet syrup -- an obsessively sweet syrup.  The sweetness of the syrup was so overpowering, that the bananas, crepe and ice cream were lost.  It was a caramel desert (yes, desert and not dessert).

I want to give this restaurant two stars, but the truth of the matter is, I haven't had better.  I will have to update at a later date.  I have already learned of other creperies in Miami that I shall be attending in the near future.

This is a great place for a quick lunch.
Their croque madame and croque monsieur are pretty good. Too large for a weekday afternoon, but OK if you can nap it off after lunch.

Their crepes are OK. A nice change for what you usually find in Ft. Lauderdale. The gruyere based crepes are the best, IMHO. A bit heavy with cheese, but still very good.

I also like the fact that the service is attentive and they do want to please their customers. I like my sugar crepe with a little fresh lemon juice and a little bit of butter in it and they always make it for me with a smile.

I recommend this place because of the quality of their food and their service. It's not the most exciting food, but it's hearty and always hits the spot.

Forget the diners in Fort Lauderdale; they kinda suck for that early morning breakfast.  No matter how old the diner is or how highly its spoken of, I've always been disappointed, leaving a little queasy due to either the undercooking of the eggs or the abundance of grease.

Although in the trendy Las Olas area, La Bonne Crepe still maintains a refined yet very laid back cafe atmosphere.  It's very conducive to that relaxing breakfast or lunch.  The quailty and taste of the breakfasts, especially at the price, are unmatched in this city.

If you order a crepe, keep in mind they're going to be massive.  Like two whole crepes on a plate, not just one.  If you are going to order a sweet breakfast crepe, though, you might want to steer clear of the ones that don't have any sauce of some sort in them.  The plain fruit crepes will be simple and straight up, which is fine if that's what you're in the mood for (plus it's rather healthy).  But if you're not, get a savory one or one with a compote or creme anglaise added.  Those with a sweet tooth can also order a variety of flavored waffles and French toast.

I ordered a simple combination of overeasy eggs, canadian bacon, roasted potatoes, and toast.  Instead of the typical greasy version of this fry-up, Le Bonne Crepe's comes out feeling country French -- with hearty, good ingredients that also just -look- good.  A friend ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which seemed to be good too.

Once I went for lunch and ordered a savory crepe with escargot, garlic butter, and mushrooms...and it was ridiculous how much escargot was in them.  I couldn't eat much more past the first crepe on the plate.  In total, they have 37 savory crepes for lunch.  THIRTY-SEVEN -- from simple Gruyere cheese+ham to Gruyere cheese+chicken livers+ratatouille to ones with scrambled eggs to ones stuffed with seafood.

I haven't tried it for dinner, but I'm typically not in the cafe mood during dinner.  Crepes are typically a pre-dinner meal anyway.  Coming here for breakfast or lunch and sitting outside is a calm, relaxing affair, when Las Olas isn't jam-packed with cars and people.

[see photos I've uploaded of some of the breakfast choices]

I love this cozy little restaurant.  I was on a business trip  with my coworker and boss and we were looking for a breakfast place.  Luckily my coworker is familiar with the area and suggested this cafe.  I had waffles topped with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries.  The crepes were amazing along with some freshly squeezed orange juice.

The restaurant isn't big, but it does have outside seating which is really nice on a sunny day.  After a nice meal, you can stroll along the streets and browse through the shops on Las Olas Blvd.
