What a diamond in the rough!  Nomad is truly a hidden gem in Wilmington DE.  Finding a parking spot on the street wasn't an issue when we discovered Nomad last Friday night.  AND there's NO cover!!  Wow. You could hear the beautiful live jazz music a block away, and the artists were amazingly friendly.

The inside of Nomad is so cozy and inviting.  The style is quite modern, and the bar is beautifully designed.  The bartenders are quick to serve you with a warm smile.  I believe they have about 8 rotating draft brews and several speciality cocktails.  Their wine menu seemed extensive too.  Also, the locals are extremely friendly!

They say this is a local favorite- I completely see why :)  I'd be here often if I lived in Wilmington!

When people ask me what Nomad is like, I say "sort of like the bar in the Overlook Hotel from The Shining".  Well, that is without Jack Nicholson and Lloyd.

But there's something about Nomad that feels classic, like it's been here before.  The vibe, that amazing bar, the expert staff and those delicious cold drafts and perfectly created drinks.  Why would you ever want to leave?

I also had the chance to play a gig at Nomad, and the vibe was crazy, with folks from various walks of life making Nomad a great melting pot of fun.

Prob one of the best bars in Wilmington. The best patrons, the best service, the best music, the best owners. You won't find any bedazzeled dragons on tee shirts in this bar. The prices are more then fair and I struggle with telling people about it. I want to keep it my little secret but Linda and her husband (owners) deserve all the guests they can get. Get in there early as the place gets packed. Shake hands with the staff and they'll remember you for life. Cheers!

Hidden gem in Wilmington!!  Live jazz music.  No food except for bowls of goldfish (my fav!) or chex mix.  OK beer selection, some craft beer on tap.

Not many places to sit, but plenty of room to dance in close quarters.  Big fan!

There is a live jazz club in Wilmington?  I thought jazz clubs were extinct species in this city.  I'm glad to see there is one existing and thriving!  Nomad does not charge a cover to enter and the space is small.  To say this place gets crowded is an understatement.  You actually walk by the musicians as they are playing when you enter.

The bar staff is nice and they have a good selection of craft beers.  Don't show up hungry because they do not serve food.  Due to this fact, I would not recommend this place, as a first stop on a date, but it is a nice place to end a date.

The exposed brick adds a nice decorative touch.  I could not help myself from thinking what Wilmington must have been like in the 1950s and 60s when jazz ruled.  Being in Nomad transported me back to an era gone by.

One of the best jazz bars in the area. It's authentic. A great vibe that cannot be easily matched or recreated in Wilmington.

This intimate, dive bar is a gem in Wilmington. It may be the best bar in the city with a lively crowd, great music and fun bartenders. They don't serve food so get a bite before you go!

    Top 10 Things About Nomad

10.) Exposed brick walls - They remind me of other red things I like; Tiger Woods' Sunday polo, red folders, red pens to mark up someone's errors, the American flag and of course period blood (aka the red flower).

9.) The bathrooms - A dual-level toilet?!? Say what? When taking care of business, you can choose to sit down with a backrest in the traditional posture and your feet on the floor, or sit up top with a place to dip your feet in the hot summer months. Although the second option requires removing the heavy porcelain lid to the toilet, so if you're a woman this might be a challenge.

    8.) Yadda.

    7.) Yadda.

    6.) Yadda.

5.) Food choices - You can order food in from any other local food spot, because they don't have a kitchen. That's right, you can enjoy pizza, ceviche, chicken mcnuggets, caviar, black truffles, black mambas and even pork belly pancakes. All is within your reach with a quick phone call. Use your imagination!

4.) Blacked out windows - When I first walked by, I didn't even notice the bar. So I kept walking...and walking...and before I knew it I was playing a game of dominoes with some local gentleman on their front porch. It didn't last long - I thought slamming your fist on the table and yelling "dominoes bitches!" was standard, but it seems my timing was off. On my way back up Orange Street luckily I heard the music emitting from inside, which brings us to number 3.

3.) Live Jazz and Blues music - Loves it. I even got to wear my favorite "White People Fucked Up The Blues" t-shirt. This is the real draw at Nomad. It's cozy, has a great beer selection, friendly bartenders and great music soaring through the bar and out the door into the third-rate city Wilmington sky.

2.) Free Goldfish crackers - Confession - I like to get a lttle raw and raunchy sometimes. Maybe dress as a seagull and eat raw fish, flap my wings in public to piss people off, etc. And what is a seagull's second favorite food? Goldfish crackers. I know, because I used to empty whole large cartons onto the beach when I was younger, to draw in every seagull within a 10 block radius to create a diversion to get home. Maybe I upset a few families trying to enjoy the beach without the cackling, cawing and bird shit on their chests, but these are sacrifices you need to make.

1.) I leave number one up to you, the reader. Sometimes it's about the journey, not the destination, sucka.

Great place - hard to find.  Walk down Orange and listen for the music.  Chill place to hang and listen to jazz.  Bartenders are cool, had some great laughs with them.

Went there with a group of 5 on Saturday for the 4-7PM jazz.  Incredible music, super friendly atmosphere- staff and musicians.  A great place to hear some really top notch jazz and to network with other musicians.  Stop on by- you will not be disappointed.

Nomad is the best kept secret in Wilmington. Live jazz on the weekends, solid beer list and great staff. Perfect bar atmosphere. Good music on the stereo when bands aren't playing. Always a diverse and interesting crowd. Marked only by a neon OPEN sign from the street. No food, but you can bring in your own if you like. My favorite place to hang downtown.
