I stop in this Potbelly frequently after my gym workout across the street. Every time I have come in, I have had a pleasant experience, even though I am probably still smelly and gross from the gym! I usually take my food to go and they are always quick to have it ready and easily manageable to take out. As with any Potbelly, the food is great and predictable for the chain of restaurants.
Review Source:I love the Potbelly subs. Â But despite some of the other reviews here, I haven't found them to be that friendly at this location. Â
And my only question for them is: Â If a customer has a sub, a soup, and a cookie to-go, Â why do you make them ask for a bag? Â Why wouldn't you offer them a bag? And then instead of just throwing it at them, wouldn't you put their stuff in the bag for them? Â It's odd.
I live in the area, so I frequently pop in to Potbelly to grab a sandwich or a salad and pop back out. I thoroughly mostly everything they offer that I've tried, so I won't focus on that.
I'm never in during peak hours, but I can't say I know what those would be given it's on Southport, which is a chill place to grab food anyway.
What stands out about this location is that it has a huge back seating area, whereas most Potbell(ies?) are kind of cramped. I've ate in a few times and enjoyed it. I would imagine with this feature that this location might be among the most ideal for young families, which is perfect for the Southport area. They even have a play table. That's pretty unique.
Otherwise, the staff is friendly and helpful, with the kind of character you come to expect from their restaurants if you're a Chicagoland native. As one of few non-upscale dining options on Southport, it's a real pleasure to have it.
With a Potbelly nearby, never again is a trip to Subway necessary. Â Nothing good will come out of a trip to Subway, unless you weigh 400 pounds and you're only eating cheesy potatoes every day. Â
I've never come across a rude Potbelly employee anywhere, but they seem to be exceptionally friendly here. Â It's a great location--right off the Southport Brown line--and that might have something to do with it. Â
In Chief Wiggum voice: "that's nice work, boys."
Never had Potbellys? Â Shame on you. Â I mean really, I feel bad that you've been fed that subway/quznos stuff your entire life. Â Potbelly's rocks. Â Nice over roasted sandwhiches, live music from local musicians and delicious shakes. Â What more can you ask for? Â I'd go with the ham and swiss or the wreck. Â The name says it all.
Review Source:If someone would open a Potbelly within a 35 mile radius of Memphis, TN, I swear on all that is holy I would eat there every day. Â My GOD do I miss this place with every ounce of my being. Â In my book, there is no other sandwich shop like it. Â
I dream about their chicken salad sandwich and the wreck. Â Don't even get me started on the chicken salad salad. Â The croutons- oh the freaking fresh toasted bread croutons! Â Mmmmm. Â Sheila's dream bar anyone? Â That thing melts in my damn mouth- literally. Â Can a girl get a chocolate banana shake with butter cookies on the straw? I mean really!
This particular location was in my hood when I lived in Chicago and I frequently was found inside chowing down. Â And when I couldn't be bothered to make myself presentable, Â I'm sure the delivery guy on the bike loved delivering to me in my pajamas at all hours of the day and night . Â Not a place I've encountered yet has been able to come close to recreating anything I've had in here. Â It's fast, it's fresh, it's delicious and it's dependable. Â It always tastes good. Always. Â I miss you Potbelly!
This place is like Quizno's on steroids! We don't have Potbellys in California, so I had to try this place and hot damn it delivered.
I ordered the Wreck salad and the Italian sandwich and both were great. Â The salad was fresh, with lots of veggies and the croutons....oh the croutons. Â The croutons are AWESOME. Â My sandwich was crunchy, and delicious. Â The meat was great, and it was an all around great sandwich. Â This place delivers too, which is another plus. Â
Also...the prices are quite low. You get a quality sandwich for under $6 which is killer. Â I'm a fan! Â Much better than Subway (and cheaper).
So yummy! Â I like the mess with the hot peppers.
We always get it delivered (what? we've got things to do), so I can't really comment on the place itself. Â The delivery is always fast (not freaky fast, but I guess that was copyrighted)
The food is good. Â We usually just get the sandwiches and provide our own chips/sides. Â Oh, we like the salads too.
Way better than quizno's. I highly recommend if you're looking for a good sandwich chain.
As a weekly patron to this Potbelly's, I felt it my duty to drop a few pleasant words about this fine restaurant.
Everytime I have been here, the staff has been super friendly, quick, and consistent in their preparation. The restaurant itself has the perfect city/neighborhood feel and vibe, especially on summer weekends when they have live music. They also serve breakfast until at least 1pm!! THANK GOD! At $3 for a breakfast sandwich, you cannot find a better deal.
The line can get long at times but that is due to volume, not the staff.
I am very happy they are in my neighborhood.
Mmmmmm.....sub-a-licious!
Big fan of the Big sandwiches, vanilla or chocolate shakes and Sheila's Dream Bars. I was looking forward to the debut of The Clubby, but was a little underwhelmed. I think I'll stay loyal to the Italian or A Wreck.
Internet ordering is fast, easy and convenient, and has a surprisingly friendly user-interface. Nicely done, Potbelly. (Give it a try...it really was a pleasant surprise).
Also, as opposed to some other Potbelly locations, this one actually has fountain soda...a great improvement over a fridge full of cans and bottles. And of course, the subsequent free refills are always a plus too.
I really like this potbelly They are always nice and pleasant.
The store is always clean and sometimes they have  live performances by local artists, I LOVE THAT!!
Sandwich are made to order and everything is fresh.
I only eat at potbellys on the weekend because they open at 8 and have breakfast sandwich, they should really think about offering breakfast sandwich everyday instead of just on the weekend.
Wow! I've heard good things about Potbelly and I just knew I had to try ASAP! I ordered a Wreck and it's my new addiction! This sandwich is AMAZING and DELICIOUS...ohh, and OUT OF THIS WORLD! I don't know why I didn't go any sooner! I had tried Jimmy Johns...not impressed! It was more bread than actual meat! But this?! THE WRECK? Omg! I was sooo stuffed after eating just the regular one...can't imagine the BIG one! Whoa! And on top of this deliciousness, there was this guy just practicing his songs while on his guitar and I have to say, he has an amazing voice. I enjoyed listening to him while stuffing my face!
Review Source:They're so good and so nice, here. Really friendly, happy guys. Location right off the Southport el. Perfection in winter.
Also great: Everything's consistent at Potbelly's. Unfortunately, I'm here to say that my last two visits here weren't.
First, both times I got a strawberry shake. That was excellent as always, but the little cookies they put on the straw were STALE. I mean, INEDIBLY stale. Yuck-oh-yuck. I'm sure not many people drink shakes during the winter, so these may have been kept too long. Even so, it can't be the first winter they've been through! That should have been predictable.
Then, I ordered their new tomato-bacon-melty thing. They promised it was good and I knew it would be. It really, really wasn't. It was worse than Subway. BETTER QUALITY than Subway, but as un-tasty as Subway.
Honestly, it's OK. I know this is a place where, if I told them these things, they'd at least apologize, probably correct the problem ASAP and maybe even give me a gift card for a free shake and sandwich??? Please? Pretty please????
Here's hoping they're reading.:)
Ask anyone who is from Chicago, has ever lived in Chicago, visited Chicago, or has ever heard of Chicago about Potbelly's. Their eyes will glaze over and they will instantly begin to salivate and will say in a zombie-like voice, "Potbelllly's." Yeah, it's that good.
Their company motto is "Good Vibes, Great Sandwiches." This rings true. The toasted sandwiches come with a million different toppings. This is definitely a place that you can eat at often and not get sick of it. They have so many great options, you won't have to repeat!
After many, many visits to this location, I decided to come on Yelp to show my love.
Potbelly's in general is pretty superb when it comes to the combination of quality, selection, and pricing. Â But for me, the service here always takes the cake. Â They are always very friendly, and smile at me every time, and yet the people there remain genuine. Â They are definitely not like your typical corporate peon, ass-kissers. Â One day their computers were down during a lunch rush, so when I went to pay for my food, they said it was free. They didn't close! Pretty insane.
As for the food, Potbelly's is what Quizno's and all other fast-food sandwich shops wish they could be. Â There is nothing extraneous in their menu, which gives each sandwich a true focus on taste; and yet there is enough variety that repeat visits do not become single note. Â The quality of the sandwiches here are even better than your average non-fast food fare. Â I would come here over any cafe any day.
I will sorely miss this place when I leave Chicago.
I've had great service at Potbellys in general but today they went above and beyond.
I ordered chili and when I got to work to eat it they had given me vegetable soup. So I called them back up expecting them to ask me to come and grab a chili (which I actually couldn't do) but they said they would deliver it for me.
Although it took them a while (they were pretty busy) to get me my chili they got it to me with a cookie!
couldn't ask for more - they rocked!
You can't really complain about a potbellys....or maybe you can.
I've been ordering for delivery from these guys for months. The last time I ordered (which was online) they called me and told me that they won't accept my order because the belmont location was closer.
ACTUALLY...
its not. So i'm not sure what the deal was with them, but thats some bs. So i ordered from the belmont location and they were friendly but they asked why i didn't just order from the southport location seeing as it is closer.
YEAH EXACTLY.
Never had a problem when ordering in the store. Quick and friendly. No parking...downside. Otherwise, its just another potbellys. Not really feeling their chip choice. I think I go to Jimmy Johns more because they have better chips not because they have better sandwiches. Potbelly's choice in chips are WAY to salty and are just not tasty.
I use to travel weekly for my job. As any working traveler will tell you, sometimes the most desired meal is quick, reliable, and can be consumed while driving, running, typing, or horse back riding.
With toasted sandwiches that are compact and tasteful it's easy to see why Pot Belly's always has a line. "Wreck on wheat!" is what I yell to the lady taking orders. I yell it because I'm the 15th person in line, but the lady taking orders is just so on her game that no line is too long for her. I was more than impressed. Good sandwiches, decent price, and better than Subway or Quizno's.
A friend of mine & I came in here one night after a Cubs game & granted, yes, he was drunk, & yes, he was loud, but he wasn't belligerant & he wasn't obnoxious. Â He was just loud & friendly. Â I believe the worst thing he did was make up a song about the shakes they make there. Â "Shakes Shakes Shakes! Â Everyone wants a shake! Â Make those shakes!" Â Something along those lines. Â Now, I know he's no John Lennon, but ...
An employee asked him to leave. Â Keep in mind we were ordering our sandwiches to go anyways.
In a "that's-so-unfair" moment, the employee did not, however, ask the two guys in the front of the place who were currently engaged in a high-decibel discussion over which girl they knew was a better ... how do I say ... performer in bed. Â The two discreet fellas (*sarcasm*) were not as cautious with their wording, though.
Best toasted sandwich in existance. Â Make sure you get most of the standard toppings or you won't understand what I am talking about.
Shakes are made from real ice-cream (get one and you get a free lil' butter cookie on the straw)
It is also the last place on earth to try what a real pickle should taste like (get one even if you think the tank o'pickles looks strange) and to top it off Potbellys always hires real friendly weirdo's to work behind the counter so you don't have to deal with jerks!
Mark my words - Potbellys will take over the world one day - you are either with em or you have not tried one yet.
My favorite sandwich shop of all time! Â Potbelly's serves up specialty toasted sandwiches, soups, and shakes. Â They are just as reasonable as other chain sandwich shops, yet provide much tastier food in a laid back environment. Â Also, an actual person sings and plays the guitar for a little back ground music. Â Oh, and they deliver by bicycle if you live nearby!
