Tavern On South

The food we've had has been ok at best. But the beer list is good, and its a nice location.

Pros: Really great menu, bar with nice wine selection, friendly service, great atmosphere and location, easy parking for a downtown location
Cons: I was too busy chowing down delicious food to notice any

Came here for lunch with coworkers on a weekday.  I had never heard of this place, but I am so glad my coworker recommended TOS because I loved it.  They have one of the menus where it takes you 15 minutes to decide because there are so many yummy options.  This place gets five stars just for featuring unique uses for gouda!  I don't see it featured many places, so I was pumped.

I settled for the beef tenderloin quesdailla app as my entree.  It came with dour cream and "Indiana salsa" which seemed like salsa with white beans.  The quesadilla was filled with warm gouda and tender beef.  Simpled yet delicious!  I have been dreaming about it since!

They usually have a lunch special, and the coworkers that ordered it (lamb pita sandwich the day we went) raved about it.  Good selection of salsa, sandwiches and pizzas as well.  Everyone loved the food, and the portions were perfect for lunch.  I left wanting more, but satisfied.

Our server Penny was friendly, quick and did a great job accommodating our party.  

All in all:  I'll be back again (and again and again...)

After a few great visits the last one left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Valentines day. Party of two.

Our server rushed to the table and seemed like he needed our order now or never. We said we needed more time and off he went. After finally deciding on the Baked Cavitelli ($16) and my guest, a steak special ($25) we got wine and bread and waited for our dinners to arrive.

I should have sent my dish back when I got it. It was a minimal offering of pasta with an unbelievable amount of cheese melted over the top. I managed to pull off all the cheese and ate what was left. The amount of grease and cheese left sitting on my plate was not appetizing and I really regretted not sending it back for something better.

My guests steak had to be sent back for being undercooked and in the end the review was "okay, but not worth the price."

I have had their burger and it has been great. But it seems that this place is trying to be a nicer restaurant than it actually is. Service was okay, but for the price of the dinner, should have been better.

I will return in the future, but will stick to beer and burgers.
