AWESOME beer list, tasty food, and friendly service in a cozy neighborhood pub. I couldn't be happier that Tippe and Drague came to the Beacon Hill neighborhood. They clearly filled a huge void based on the crowd that's always here. With fun things like free popcorn, trivia night, and regular Brewer's nights with local breweries, it's a great place to hang out and enjoy a beer with friends. Â
My only complaint is that the food is a little expensive (though fresh and I appreciate the rotating specials), and they don't do a great job keeping their beer list updated. Â They go through kegs too quickly for a printed beer list anyway; a chalk board or digital menu on one of their TVs would be easier to maintain and would cause less confusion about what's actually available on tap.
This was an decent experience but if I come back it'll just be for a beer. They have a pretty substantial tap list that seems to rotate fairly frequently- the beer menu had the previous weeks selections on the back and most of the beers were different. The list  showcases northwest beers that you don't typically see everywhere else and there was a decent variety of styles.
The service was good, if not a little over enthusiastic- it was pretty slow and the waitress was checking back with at an interval that felt like every other minute.
My issue was with the food. My bf & I both ordered sandwiches- he got the steak sandwich w/ mushrooms & blue cheese and I had chicken w/ brie and pear. We both had side salads. Our sandwiches were both a decent size but  woefully under-seasoned. The chicken breast was completely flavorless and the cheese was greasy not creamy. I had to add soooo much salt. Our side salads were ridiculous- it was a plate of limp romaine w/ 1 halved cherry tomato and a single slice of cucumber. Wah wah.
So many awesome taps, it looks like a foosball table back there. You've got my attention T&D.
Great location on Beacon Hill; with a trivia night, delicious FREE popcorn (from the old Columbia City Theatre popcorn machine, now the Ark Lodge Cinema) and really, really great service.
I like the space, but it's not someplace I would hang out for a long period of time. I've been in for dinner/beers twice and once for weekend breakfast. During breakfast, I ordered a side of cheese grits, that had this strange aftertaste of maple syrup. So much so, I asked my waitperson if they put maple syrup in it (either on accident or purpose) and she said they didn't. Strange. The eggs, toast and potatoes were fine, but not memorable. We walked away full, but a little unsatisfied with the food.
So dinner; I've had the nachos with chicken and was sorely disappointed. The cheese was sparse and reminded me of nachos from the movies a bit. I also have had the mac and cheese (added chicken) and it was really heavy on the bleu cheese and gorgonzola. I adore both cheeses, but it was too pungent together.
I have heard of the other chef offerings that they had, but I never seem to get there when they are happening. But I kinda wish that they served quality memorable food all the time, not just during the specials. You're cool; T&D. I'll wait a bit and give you guys a go again :)
Located on Beacon Hill, this small alehouse is quite a charming little place! Â The establishment is in an old house that feels like it has lots of history, and it's just a great atmosphere. The seating is limited, but the service was wonderful. Â They greet you with a bowl of fresh popcorn, popped the way it was 50 years ago with very little butter and salt. Â Yum!
They have a decent variety of local craft beers, and the girls I was with also ordered their cider. Â They said it was delicious, but I prefer more dark brews. Â They had a pretty good looking food menu, but I didn't try anything else. I'll definitely come back here next time I'm in Seattle :)
We waited over 10 years living on the hill for exactly this sort of establishment to open.  Walking into the T&D is like walking into your BFF's house for a home-cooked meal, a pint of awesome local brew, and friendly, relevant conversation with your like-minded  neighbors.  It's a refreshing, genuine and entirely comfortable environment to get your food and drink on sans pretension or blowing the bank. It offers the true package in that it not only satisfies but truly exceeds expectations by way of food, beverage, service and ambiance.  Finally a neighborhood joint that just gets it!  110%.
Review Source:Realistically you should never go to this place, the owner immediately made me feel so uncomfortable I left without even touching my drink...I've lived two blocks away from this place for 10+ years and thought that this pub was a welcome change to the ave...I was completely wrong!!! Â I've been to the establishment three times and it took this one bad experience to deserve the time I spent to write this lengthy review...AVOID THIS PLACE...
Review Source:Doesn't look like much from the outside and it's a bit crowded (I'd guess room for 30-35 people max), but the food was tasty (if a tad on the expensive side) and the beer selection is awesome. Â The reuben and pulled pork were great, and the black bean nachos were pretty good too, though nothing tremendously special. Â We were there on a Saturday afternoon and the staff was friendly with the kids (especially after my 9-year old spontaneously fixed a clogged sink in the bathroom!)
If you're a fan of dark beer, the DUO Brewing Company Poles Apart Barrel Aged Milk Stout is probably one of the top 3 stouts I've ever had, so shell out the extra money and try a glass.
Wow! What a cute little bar in Beacon. It appears to be brand new yet has a old town feel about it. I didn't really try their food, but I had a beer at the bar. They give you popcorn to munch on. I had just missed their Trivia Night, but I bet it would have been a blast to play. The bartenders were friendly and seemed to really get along with each other.
I can't wait to come back to try some food and their Sunday Brunch.
I've been waiting a while for a place like this to open up on Beacon Hill. Â Upon finding a seat at the bar we were greeted with a bowl of popcorn and offers to sip/try one of the many local beers on tap.
By the end of the night we had chatted with the owners about everything from our favorite Dim Sum spots to Seattle sports woes. Â All in all a very relaxing and homely environment. Â I will definitely be back to try the menu.
Rotating draft list on tap. Â Went here when this place first opened..and it was empty. Â Now, it has become a neighborhood hot spot..but for a good reason.
Beer is good, service is very good, have not had food.
My only gripe is it attracts typical Seattle yuppies, but it's in Beacon Hill. Â Why is it that no one who actually lives in the neighborhood goes here...Tippe, Oak, Victrola (white people hang-outs are infiltrating a multi-ethnic melting pot...)
This is a neighborhood gem. Â I just wish it were in MY neighborhood! Â Five of us came here for the first time to watch the Super Bowl because we wanted a place that wasn't full of overgrown frat boys but also not too precious and full of hipsters. Â We came to the right place.
The food is great, and clearly not frozen stuff bought in bulk. Â Everything tastes fresh and like the chef actually cares. Â The beer selection is one of the best in Seattle if not THE best (not the longest list - that's not what I mean) and you'll find small batch craft beers here that you'll look long and hard to find anywhere else. Â
The TV is nice and big, the staff has a really good attiitude and gets things out quickly, and the vibe is comfortable and friendly.
What more could you want?
They serve breakfast, and breakfast is effing delicious. Â The scrambled egg quesadilla, both meat and veggie options, are awesome, and come with an assortment of condiments. Â Jesus, I love this pub. Â It really is a nice spot with a real sense of community and my favorite meal of the day.
Review Source:Ok, so I am giving this place four stars because the beer selection is seriously legit. All Northwest beers, all amazing. They also give you free popcorn to nosh on while you're drinking, which is nice. Â
But man, the rest of the food here was so disappointing. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which seemed like a safe bet. It was super dry and came with a lack-luster side salad. Worse still was my husband's mac and cheese. It was so so bland and arrived cold. Neither of us finished our meals. Â
If you're looking to do dinner and drinks in Beacon Hill, go to Bar Del Corso for food and then head to Tippe and Drague afterwards. Or just stay at Bar Del Corso, which has much better ambiance anyways.
I love this place.
I brought my mom here Christmas eve for Melissa's Polish menu, came here to watch the debates during election season & stop by any night to have a couple beers or glass of wine with free popcorn & always feel comfortable here alone or in company. They have no cover live music, karaoke & the best drink selection.
The owners seem like wonderful people with genuine vibes & they hire awesome people
Beacon Hill was like a very long strip of wasteland of no beer until Tippe & Drague opened. In order to find some kind of beer, you had to squeeze into Baja Bistro (too loud music) or travel to Georgetown where you found lots of cold shoulders. I found out about this establishment months before it opened on a beer blog and even paid a visit while the owners were still painting the interior.
I was there the first week it opened and I think I have been there every week since then (ok, we are fans). I have not been able to find an equally comfortable & inviting watering hole since I came to Seattle (over 10 years ago). Owners Melissa & Robert (and server Ed) are easygoing and always stop to chat, where ever we sit. Their beer menu changes practically daily and one time we mentioned we liked a certain beer and next week they had it on tap! They have 15 beers on tap and at least one kind of cider and it's all Pacific Northwest derived. Kitchen staff make good food, in particular their soups and bread puddings (not offered all the time). They update their Facebook pretty often with what's happening that day. They are open everyday - we even went and had a beer with them on Christmas day.
But because it was a wasteland prior to their opening, it is now popular! People know this is the place to go! Make sure to show up early in the evenings and weekends or you might have to wait for a seat.
A perfect little bar with a perfect little vibe. There are just two rooms, and it feels like this is the space they were able to carve out of a building that probably used to be a house once upon a time. It's right up against the sidewalk on the southern stretch of Beacon Avenue that's just starting to bustle.
You walk in and there are a few tables, a flat screen, and a great big grandfather clock off to the side. A grandfather clock! Not a smart-ass artists reproduction, with a cheap tin clockworks set screwed into a big old box. A real grandfather clock is standing there off to the side. It doesn't get any homier than that. They don't have a fireplace, but not too many bars do. Precious few, if any, bars can boast a grandfather clock though. Looks like a nice one, and when I was in, it was running.
The next room has two semi-divider walls cordoning off the bar area, where there's a nice barback, a couple dozen faucets pouring well-selected local micros (almost all WA and OR), a flat screen, and a big popcorn machine. They ask everybody if they want a bowl of popcorn. So cool. They tend to run KEXP over the hi-fi.
The food list is a rock-solid lineup of pub grub, with veggie, vegan, gluten-free, and other options virtually throughout. Everything looks and smells great, though I've only been here for beers, bowl games, and conversation. No food so far, but I wouldn't hesitate to dine here for sure.
Beacon Hill is really blowing up. This place went from virtually empty to completely packed in 10 minutes, and stayed packed. The people on both sides of the bar are friendly and fun. I'll definitely be back.
I stumbled upon this place sober, and stumbled out less so. Â I've only been to the Tippe and Drague once but immediately fell for its charms. Â One of the owners is a fellow ex-Cincinnatian and really does the beer thing properly. Â I'm a stickler for clean lines as the taste of beer can be substantially affected by infrequent cleaning. Â I tasted NOTHING but wonderful draft beer, with each tap being well chosen.
I sat and made new friends across several hours, eating tasty dishes we ordered including kimchi pancakes, macaroni and so forth. Â Everything was good and paired very well with the beer. Â Later we drank cider which, though normally uninteresting to me, was all of very good quality and suited the beers nicely. Â All in all, this was closer to the vibe I found in some of the pubs in London than what I've seen in some other US cities.
I live in the ID and am shamefully near the Tippe and Drague not to have returned. Â A British ex-pat friend has also been to the alehouse and roundly approves. Â I'm sure we'll get up that way before long. Â I've been to most of the other beer drinking spots in Seattle but this one hits me the best. Â MAJOR KUDOS.
I was looking forward to this new local but have to say I wasn't impressed. We got a sampling of beers and maybe it's just me but every one tasted like IPA. Pilsner does not and should not taste like that. Â The server was nice but advised us that all the beer on tap is very hoppy. Â Sad really.
Review Source:I live two blocks fro the Tippe and Drague, and have consistently found it to be my favorite bar/alehouse in Seattle. For anything from coming for a few drinks to watch the game, to a quick meal (try the bread and dip if it's there!) to a card game with friends, I have never been disappointed. With some of the best beer selection around, and a very generous tasting policy, I always, ALWAYS can find 2-3 drinks I love.
Free popcorn is a sneaky way to keep me thirsty, but I never turn it down :)
Came in for brunch and had the 3 egg ham and cheese and mushroom scramble. It came with toast and potatoes. Both the sides and main course were delicious. I asked for ketchup and they only had gourmet varieties, I didn't like either. Wish they had Heinz. Husband had biscuits and gravy, which was good.
Will come back for sure, but will bring my own heinz.
Just had weekend breakfast here for the second time. Â The food is terrific. Â First time I had an egg and cheese sandwich that was surprisingly delicious. Â Second time I had the spinach, mushroom scramble which was equally yummy, both served with very tasty chopped fried potatoes. Â My husband had biscuits and gravy both times and my son had the buttermilk pancakes and we shared a side of bacon. Â The food is really top quality which is a bit surprising for a pub.
The ambiance is very cozy, clean and cheerful. Â On our first visit the owner Melissa told us all about how they salvaged a lot of the lights and the grandfather clock from a family farm and it was apparent the place was designed and built with love and attention. Â The service was friendly, though as another poster commented the servers are still a little green. Â On my second visit the server initially failed to bring obvious things like butter or jam for the toast, ketchup for the potatoes, etc. but was very accomodating when asked.
They could use bigger coffee mugs and larger hot water containers for tea service, but these are very minor complaints and overall we're thrilled to have another neighborhood option for great food. Â The place is sure to be a huge success and the only downside will be trouble finding a table once it fully catches on. Â It's a great compliment to the other neighborhood joints and is a new family favorite.
They are still pretty new as I write this, but based on the beer selection alone they deserve 5 stars. If you have spent any time in the small community pubs in Ireland, this place is kind of a Seattle version of that. Old artwork and reclaimed furniture give it that old world charm. I'm looking forward to slugging back many a local micro brew in this cozy little pub.
Review Source:Tippe and Drague Alehouse is an excellent addition to the expanding Beacon Hill restaurant choices! We have been to this place several times and are always greeted by name and with a warm smile. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and comfortable. It has always been lively without being too loud.
We have come here for lunch and brunch and are always happy with the menu options - there is a good mix of yummy comfort food and healthier fare.
Top notch Beer selection and Outstanding Service! The beer menu is always changing so it is a great spot for Hop heads!
When you arrive to Tippe & Drague you will note it is cozy, however, we always seem to get a table when needed. The popcorn that meets you as you are seated is movie theater quality, so delish and so FREE! :) Pints of Tasty micro brew are $5 and some are of the strong variety. They have a large tv. and a small bar tv with games that are requested by the patroms.
The food seems high priced at first glance until you note the quality! I have had the pulled pork sandwich and the nachos and both are great! The Nachos were tasty, loaded and were large enough to share! I thought the pulled pork needed more bbq sauce but I am a condiment freak, and they happily gave me a side, others may just appreciate the natural smoked flavors of the pork! You can tell they use all quality ingredients here! I've been here several times now and it is consistent!
I am so happy to have the Tippe & Drague as a new addition neighborhood watering hole.
Stopped by here after walking around Beacon Hill, including Alleycat Acres Urban Farm, watching skaters in the skate park and seeing a beautiful view of downtown from Jefferson Park.
Right when we walked in we requested the baseball playoffs and they switched one of the two TVs from football to baseball.
Everything we ate tasted fresh and was very good.
We started with the bread and hummus and then split the greek salad and the chicken quesadilla. Â My favorite part was the guacamole (tequila infused!) Â The red and green sauce were also very well done.
There are many, many choices of beers and my husband really enjoyed hearing about each one.
The place was packed at 5 pm on a Saturday and there were many families in the seating section. Â The small bar area is intimate and the servers were very friendly. The noise level was busy, buzzy, and pub-like. Â I heard one person thank the owners so much for coming to Beacon Hill, which I thought was kind of nice and sweet.
The bathrooms were quirky and had interesting art. Â The light fixtures, grandfather clock and mirrors were also quirky and beautiful.
I will definitely be back to try brunch some Sunday.
The Tippe and Drague Alehouse is small and friendly. Â The beer selection is excellent and the food was pretty good. Â The complimentry popcorn is a nice touch and all the prices I delt with included tax already so we get nice round checks that are easy to split and/or pay cash.
One of the servers felt a little green to the industry but that isn't a surpise with a new place like this. Â Sometimes they hire friends/family that need work but have never been a server.
The atmosphere feels laid back and that is a good thing. Â I would recomend this Alehouse to others!
Okay. I'll say it.
Thank Goddess for kid friendly bars. (hear that choir singing Hallelujah in the background?)
Tippe & Drague (pronounced tip and drag) was a much needed (and much awaited!) addition to Beacon Hill.
Pros: Have you checked out their beer selection?? Ridiculously awesome.
Delicious food. Ample seating. Separate bar/dining area that ensures its family-friendly status. They engaged with our son, which was great. Clean. Nice big tables. Fast service. Friendly service. Good service. Plenty of parking. They open early weekends for football. Rolllllll Tiiiiiiiiiiide.
Con: Everyone isn't an Alabama fan (WTH?) so you may only get ONE of the TV's tuned into the game.
I was so excited when they finally opened their doors, but it was well worth the wait! The owners Melissa and Robert are gracious and will spend time talking to you with passion about their beers!
A wide eclectic and constantly changing selection of beers, I'm always salivating to find out what coming next.
As far as food goes, I've only tried the chop salad, which was generous and had a delicious dressing, but am looking forward to trying their Sunday brunch.
So happy you guys are here on Beacon!
A great new addition to Beacon Hill. I like their (unofficial?) motto: No Crap On Tap. They have a bevy of NW beers and some ciders. Great stuff and a good, healthier-for-bar-standards food menu (the spinach salad + optional field roast was really tasty). The staff is friendly, the vibe is great to hang out with buddies and chat; which means it's pretty loud at night. They also have complimentary munchies for anytime, including chips, pita chips and popcorn from their own machine.
I totally dig the design touches with the rustic orange glass fixtures, candle tables, wood finishes and the dark matte red exterior. You'll also find sports on the TV's.
Delicious brews on tap. And some yummy sandwiches. Crowded and lively. Hooray for Beacon Hill, we need a venue like this.
The beer selection is awesome. Â The menu is relatively simple and straighforward, with a focus on grilled sandwiches. Â $10 for a grilled ham and cheese seemed a little pricey to me, but the sandwich was tasty (the ham was very good) and of a suitable size for sharing, so all in all it was very satisfying. Â Service was friendly and attentive, no small feat given how crowded it was at the time we were there. Â I probably give an extra star because I live in the neighborhood and have been waiting for these guys to open. Â But still, worth a visit.
Really excited about the newly-opened alehouse near Jefferson Park. Our neighborhood is pretty great, but it was lacking great beer. Now, it's pretty much perfect (although I'd love a bookstore and a toy store).
Lots of beers (and some ciders) on tap. Good food. Allows kids. Nice people. Go, try it!
