Back in undergrad, I'd cringe every time someone mentioned Woody's for a night out. Before I go on to mention why, I will say that I've been told that during the day this is a great place to spend time. That being said, I've only come to Woody's in the evening.

Each time that I have gone to Woody's (4-5 times total), I've been overwhelmed by the number of people from the Greek system who are there in addition to very immature students. In one sense, the Greek community is relatively small at UC, so it is great that such a close knit community has a home. The Greek community is really a vibrant crowd with great contributions to UC, so this isn't a reflection on them. However, Woody's can start to feel like a late night Frat house party that you weren't invited to.

I've been witness to UC's young and fresh at Woody's on a Friday having far too many drinks. Plenty of "affection" and lustful young men and women fill the bar. Sometimes the atmosphere is more club-like.

Lots of seating, but the place gets packed at night. The bar is in a prime location near UC's College of Law and is fairly spacious given the spot it is in. The set-up inside is okay, and the restrooms can be difficult to find.  When filled, the bar in front is very hard to get around since it is right at the front door and has a narrow passage to get toward the front window.

I will say, this just isn't my type of place. I like dive bar, upscale bars and everything in between, but I don't like bars with such a  hardcore college party atmosphere. I MUCH prefer Christy's or Mac's for atmosphere and food respectively.

I still encourage you to give it a try if this might be closer to your own taste, but I'd encourage going earlier rather than later in the evening to get a better feel for what Woody's has to offer.

Lots of reviews about the night life, but one of Uncle Woody's hidden charms is the food specials during the day. One of the best burgers in Clifton. Service is great , and the day crowd tends to be more grad students than the rowdy undergrads.

Uncle Woody's has the advantage of a great location right across from campus, but it doesn't quite deliver a good time as expected. It's definitely a diver, grunge city all around the place, and the staff isn't really the best. Overrun with the UC Greek population, it's just about no fun for anyone outside their circle. The venue.. meh. The drinks.. meh. The people.. meh. All around.. MEHHH.

Look at me! Retracing all my years as a college student and reviewing all of Clifton's offerings. I've been avoiding reviewing this one because I don't really enjoy it.

People have argued with me that $5 for 15 beers is the best Happy Hour in Clifton(over Murphy's) and I can't help but laugh. First of all, you will unlikely get through all 15 of those beers in the time slot because 1. Only hopeless drunks are capable of finishing that crappy beer that quickly and 2. it's not the fastest service ever. The happy hour is filled with people who see that quantity/price ratio, so you can figure out the crowd, and it's not all that great. I've had a decent time because I've gone with like 15 people, but if it were just a few, I would never choose ther.e

I have been once before to a non-happy hour and had a better time, but then it's nearly dead, and therefore hardly worth going.

    It's a college dive bar.

Hanging out after a game the loaded tater tots and two beers set us back $9.

The cold air blowing out of the many vents in the bar was a distraction. I guess they were expecting a crowd and would need the air to control the temperature? brr!

Ugh Woody's been dragged here far too many times to count, and I still can never like it. Lately they've been charging a cover charge to get in and it's not worth a coverage charge at all. Cover is $5, and for what you get it's not much. Just a local DJ playing top 40 on a tiny dance floor. The bar itself is incredibly crowded. You're lucky if you're able to find a seat at the bar. And there's not much standing room either as the space between the bar and wall is only enough for maybe 2 people to squeeze by when walking. The outside porch area is also crowded as well. Woody's also has an overpowering foot order smell to it if you're sober. Drinks are cheap though which is a redeeming quality with PBR's starting at $1.50. The downside though is all beer is served in plastic cups. And you only get about 8 ounces of beer in the cup. The crowd consists of underage students illegally drinking, and frat boys. There's far better bars in Clifton with Mac's being right around the corner from Woody's offering similar prices, more room, and no cover charge.

Woody's, probably has the worst crowd for a college bar. 90% of the freshmen and other underagers show up here, which gets extremely annoying when one of them gets served at the bar before you or your of age friends do. Normally filled with kids trying to drink too much on their first bar experience, Woody's gets old pretty fast on a crowded night.

Besides that, the bartenders are pretty nice and the doormen/bouncers let in way too many ppl that are under 21 and allow them to drink. I mean I guess its good for business, bringing in a lot of money. But usually not a good experience for me.

One trip to Woody's, just to say you've been is all you need. There are plenty of other bars in the Clifton/UC area that you should spend more time at instead. Unless you are still 17-20 and want a place that lets you drink.

Uncle Woodys used to be a Greek bar when I was in school, nowadays it is a Club Woodys experience. Seems that every night is a new promoter trying to become the Zack Morris of Clifton. Not everyone can be the man, sorry to break the news.

On a positive Mike and Evan are some of the best bartenders in the city. I firmly believe that simply based on the fact that they are always fun to have as your drink slinger.

Average college bar in Clifton.  Has some interesting happy hours that can be incredible fun when your in the right company.  It's food selection, especially the burgers, are FANTASTIC!  I have tried the majority of the burgers and I would suggest the Arizona Burger with the cajun sauce (extra jalapenos).

Meh describes perfectly how I feel about this place. Anytime I'm invited, I try to convince my cohorts to spring for something a bit....fresher. More interesting? More tasty? More...anything?
Just not a fan. Not my scene. Feels dingy, loud.

It is good for what it is, a college bar in Clifton. It is going to be packed, it is going to be loud, it is going to be a little gross. But is also going suit the purpose it needs to fulfill which is to be a stop on an average weekend pub crawl and have cheap, ridiculous shots that people like to drink when the only reason they are out is to drink. The beer is cheap and the bands are sometimes good. I would recommend this as a 3rd stop on a night when you have already gone to Christy's and Mac's.

I miss the "old" Uncle Woody's. The new place is so aseptic. I guess I did not love the filthy rankness of the old bar, but it had a lot more character back then. Also, if Woody's is a law school bar, and it is or at least was, then why did they take down all the yearly Bar Association plaques? This was a place that I thought I could always go back to at UCLaw and remember the good times. I can remember all the bad times across the street just fine.

Great food, cheap beer, awesome people. Karaoke on Thursdays and a d.j. on Saturday are the main attractions at night. Tuesdays are probably the worst with all the Greek people at night. During the day it is a quiet place to hang out and do work or watch sports.

Uncle Woody's is definitely a place where everyone knows your name. The staff go out of their way to actually get to know their regulars, which makes you feel right at home.

Its definitely a college dive bar. You always find the UC law students or CCM kids hanging around.  My favorite is running into my own students playing hooky during the day (sorry you have just been busted by your professor)! I also shouldn't forget to mention the greeks take over on Tuesday nights after meeting.

However, ever since they have been under new management, the have ramped up the food menu. You have to try their $3 burger on Wednesdays. Its a steal of a deal and beyond delicious. Best burger in Clifton by far, I mean it was a finalist for Best Burger in the nation on Regis and Kelly!

So I you are on campus and have had it for the day, go enjoy an affordable drink on the patio, or watch TV on their big flat screens inside. Just make sure to hide when you professor pops in during the day if your skipping.

    College bar.

You come here for the $5 all-you-can-drink macro beer on Fridays.  You come here to watch the away games.  You come here when it's late on Saturday and you're wandering Clifton.  You come here because it's loud.

If you get a booth in the back, you can separate your group of 6 or 7 from the general partiers, but you'll have quite an ordeal making your way to the front for another drink.  Yes, I did say another, because this isn't really the scene to start your night.

Basic pub food is available.  It's a college bar, after all, and college students eat.  Just not especially refined.  Such is Woody's.
