I see quite a few decent reviews of here, but with three stars. Why? Here's your four from me, Up Over peeps.

Hey man, as far as I'm concerned, it is what it is. A small, divey, hole in the wall that doesn't serve food. Let me tell you, I'm in the mood for that sort of place from time to time (to time, to time..) Anymore, I prefer the extreme casualness of a spot like this, I mean do you really always feel like dressing up and impressing the crowd around you while you slurp down booze like a moonshiner's first day back from prison? Alas, I rant...

The bartenders are cool, the patrons are chill, and there's cool art hanging on the walls that's usually for sale. Finally, yes, it's smokey. As Lefty told Donnie after he rolled the window down, "you'll be alright".

This is one of my favorite bars in the Greater Cincinnati area. Not sure why- there's nothing special here. It's just a very chill bar for locals with a really friendly staff. Nice relaxed energy. No frills, no pool table, no crappy DJ. I could probably go in my sweats and no one would give a crap. Also, I don't trust a bartender that won't drink a shot with me. I trust these guys. And they'll feed em to you, too. My only compliant would be their limited selection of liquor. But honestly, I and my liver should probably be grateful.

A dive bar that's honest about being a dive bar.  No draft system, so expect to pay more for your beer.  That said, they do stock quality bottles of beer.  They also have a good selection of liquor, but don't expect top shelf.

They do have a really good jukebox.  Snacks are available, but seating is limited.

Great local bar that is a bar. Not a restaurant, not a place for bands, no dance floor. It is a bar, jukebox, awesome bartenders, and even better regulars that will welcome you when you walk in.  The $1.50 all day long Hudy Delights don't hurt either.

Decent beer selection and no draft though. I've never not had a good time here. Yes it is small, smokey, and crowded sometimes but again it is that way because it's a bar/bar.  You'll have to go to another bar if you are looking for the popped collar/dance floor crowd but if you want to drink, the Up Over is a great place.

    Oh, and bring your beard.

Normally, I am not a fan of Mainstrasse.

The entertainment's main clientele usually run the gamut from college kids to rednecks. Neither of which I'm very fond of.

The whole area is smoky, loud and totally obnoxious.

However, the Up Over is one of the acceptable venues.

The Up Over usually plays host to the hipster and scenester crowd so the patrons are mostly OK.

The drinks are decently priced and the specials are OK. Like other Mainstrasse bars the Up Over is terribly, terribly small. That's more due to the architecture than anything.

While I can't say I'd ever really want to hang out there, if I'm forced to go to Mainstrasse, this is one of the venues I'd lobby for.

Not a bad little bar. Not too bad at all. The only thing that seems to distinguish it from the other dives in MainStrasse is the decent blues bands they book, whose originals are as enjoyable as their covers.

Up Over sits in a shot gun building between Strasse Haus and Cosmo's (sure there are other places in between, but I just mentioned the landmarks). $3.50 for a Warsteiner Dunkel is reasonable, but they don't serve food. You'll have to go down the road for that.

I visited on perhaps the springiest spring day on record, so the patio seating was taken. The atmosphere inside was jovial (gotta love a place where people introduce themselves to the newbie), but a bit rough-shod. Overall, a nice little joint but not particularly unique.
