I love the patio here on a mild sunny day...perfect for people watching, beer drinking, and great conversation with coworkers or friends after work!
The apps are bit on the pricey side but overall the food is affordable. Unfortunately it wasn't all that hot. The tempura fish tasted pretty good though, as did the wings. Â
The beer wasn't all that cold. Â I'm an ice cold beer kind of girl and that was closer to room temp side. Â Think domestics ran about $2.50/glass during HH.
Service was good, no complaints.
Return worthy fa sheezy!
I was in Houston on business. Â This place was near the hotel. Â I always try to find local places and not chains. Â What a local place. Â I had crawfish for the 1st time. Â What a treat, and followed that with a green chili, avocado cheeseburger. Â Great food, service, and atmosphere. Â I witnessed the general manager working hard and helping out wherever she could. Â I will be back!!!
Review Source:Best place for a beer after work in the Energy Corridor hands down...well, come back and check with me during the summer, I may change my tune depending on how many fans they have on their fantastic patio.
So, Watson's is owned by the Sherlock's chain and deep down is exactly the same as every other one I've been to, minus having the bathrooms hidden behind a book case...you can actually find them at Watson's.
Why only 3 stars? Â Well, we stopped by after work last night and yes, it was busy with the after work crowd, but our poor waitress was running around in circles like a mad woman. Â We all ordered beers on draft...it took a good 10 min to actually get those beers delivered. Â In that time, I could' have walked inside and poured the beers myself, just saying.
Regardless, it was a nice evening and the atmosphere is pretty chill. Â No idea if this location has horrible live music on the weekend (I'm looking at you Cinco Ranch Baker St.), and I'm way less likely to run into people from high school here...so I'll keep coming back for Happy Hour :)
Every year my girls from the old days gather at this awesome spot for drinks and laughs.
I love the look pulling up. The inside decor and mood. The cheap drinks (in comparison to Austin prices) and the food ain't bad. The outside patio are is spacious and so inviting. Great for groups.
The wait staff in the restaurant part off from the bar always seems wary when we tell them how many people we're expecting, but they warm up to our light hearted attitude and respect for their establishment.
By the end, usually at 2, they are tired but laughing along with. The bar staff is an important part of our experience here. We appreciate it.
Much respect to "Major Dan".
Stocky white waiter With a beard Is rude and the place looks prejudiced....we were sitting for over 5 minutes and i saw a bunch of waiter's just hanging out at the end of the bar....so i approached that guy i mentioned and politely asked "how we we order? "...with an adamant reply:"sit...."...but never told anyone of his colleagues that somebody sitting there wanted to order....
Review Source:It's essentially a mini version of Sherlocks/Baker Street Pub. It's usually pretty crowded but I always manage to find a spot for me and my group to sit down at.
Last night they had a girl singing and playing the guitar. She sang a lot of popular songs but put her own acoustic twist on them. She was really good and entertained us for quite a while.
I love that they have extra large pint glasses and only charged us $3.75 for anything on tap. Must be a Saturday night thing?
We wanted to try somewhere different, so we opted to stop here for dinner and beer on Saturday night. I can't comment on the food because we didn't even get that far. We walked in and a sign saying to wait to be seated was posted. We stood up front for about 2-3 minutes while waiters chatted and visited with each other not even acknowledging our presence. Someone finally came over and told us to sit where we would like and someone would be with us. We waited about 10 minutes watching the wait staff chatting it up with the cook in the kitchen. Never once did someone come take a drink order or anything. We got up and walked over the Lupe Tortillas next door. We won't be trying this place ever again.
Review Source:A pseudo London pub turned sports bar. Â Part of the awful Sherlocks and Baker Street Pub chain. Â This place pays a little more tribute to the books than the other. Â Probably the best of the bunch, and the only reason I am giving this a generous three stars.
All wood inside, bar along the left, couches in the far right corner. Â TV's everywhere, and a sprawling patio outside. Â A half decent beer list with generic pub grub. Â The service is clicky, and typically hang out in little groups by themselves leaving people to wait. Â Just average, but there are worse places to hang out at.
Come here! Only because drinks are ridiculously cheap. I ordered a chardonnay, 2 well drinks and 2 draft beers and the total was $20. The guy that made our drinks was hilarious though lol. I wish I could upload a GIF of his facial expression when you tell him what you want to drink.
They have a live band which was pretty cool and a large patio. They have a TV screen that is pretty large that shows sports as well.
I would definitely give this place a visit if you're in the area.
Look out for the big stenciled letters on the green roof spelling PUB.
I love the atmosphere of this place, never though I'd enjoy playing Jenga after middle school. When your buzzed and with friends the big ass Jenga is a ton of fun, the staff was also very welcoming and attentive. Â The only drawback is that they stop serving hard liquor after 1 which made me WTFBBQ!?
Review Source:Watson's House of Ales was a nice experience on a cool Labor Day just before noon. Â We were one of the earlier patrons that day and picked a large rectangular table for 8. Â There was a variety of seats--couches around a fireplace, large tables, small tables, bar stools at higher narrow tables, outdoors patio, etc... Â It was dim inside. Â The decor was cute and fitting for such a place. Â There were some TVs, including a huge main screen, on display.
The menu was diverse. Â The prices were low for Houston standards. Â However, there weren't enough healthy items on the menu. Â Even the salads were full of cheese or other unhealthy filler material. Â The diced tomatoes in the Crispy Chicken Salad were such a small amount that the menu description shouldn't have mentioned it. Â They were out of cider at the time. Â
The nice and attentive waitress kept my water glass filled. Â The service was good and laidback.
I did not give it five stars because it was cold indoors and too dim for me. Â However, I'd come back again.
Watson's House of Ales had a sign that said "Watson's Grill" near the parking spaces. Â It is pretty visible from Hwy 6--look for a big green roof with huge white letters "PUB" written on it. Â This place was easy to find and there was ample parking along the storefront and across the street (parallel-parked along Grisby Rd).
We tried this place out on a Saturday night and really liked it! Â I had a club sandwich and my fiancee had the fish and chips, both were super-affordable and yummy. Â Cheap beers on draft and drink specials. Â Our server was very friendly and attentive. Â We'll definitely be going back!
Review Source:This pub is across the street from the hotel I'm staying in. It has great curb appeal and looks so cute. I decided that I MUST go over there to see what it was all about. Inside was very chill and on theme (Sherlock Holmes). I had the sliders for dinner and they were delicious, they also had malt vinegar for the fries..which is always a plus in my book.
There is a huge patio out back with large air conditioners which is great for this obnoxious Houston heat. Also, I got a vodka tonic for $3.75 which isn't too shabby! Â
Overall- nice atmosphere, good food.
I go here almost once a week for lunch. Although it may not be known for it's food, I'm a big fan of the roadster's salad that isn't on the menu but totally worth getting! Â The roadster salad comes with romaine, avocado, grilled or fried chicken, bacon bits and blue cheese. May I suggest the raspberry vinaigrette? Â Alot of people stick to the House, but i like The sweetness the rasberry brings!
It's a great place for beer and appetizers. No frills just a good place to hang out after work and have a beer.
Had lunch here on a Friday afternoon. It was also the first day of Lent so not only was meat a no go but also nothing fried (since this was what I gave up for Lent).
The server was a great help. We looked through the menu and decided on a caesar salad with grilled fish instead of chicken. It is probably the healthiest thing I ever ate at a bar. A friend of mine and I drank Paulaner Hefeweizen for a couple hours as the weather was fantastic and conducive to a patio bar like Watson's.
This continues to be a go to spot for people of West Houston.
This place is very close to where I work. I have been here couple of times as part of an office party. This place has a nice ambiance. Good collection of drafts. Waitresses are nice looking [:)] and they are pretty fast in collecting orders and serving. You can also enjoy some live music played by the in house band. However if you have a booking for a table bee sure to get there in time. Otherwise your table will be relinquished to someone else.
Review Source:I like Watson's, I really do. But something about the place rubs me the wrong way. This past week when I went up there our waitress made some comment about me just recently turning 21, like it was a bad thing or that she was so wise with her (more advanced) age.
Every time I walk in I go straight to the bar inside to get my drink, pay for it, take it outside, then start a tab when a waitress approaches our table. Every time no one will take my order at the bar so I have to be extra pushy, which I don't really like doing. I must say...I have only had one good waitress and we have been there 4 times now. It seems that most of the people behind the bar are a little snobbish (or, maybe, just real busy and don't how to communicate).
Even though I find this the case my husband and I will be returning since it is so close to home and its just...convenient. I do like the place, don't get me wrong...but my visits here have not been consistent in service.
I love this bar! I'm a fan of all the Sherlock's chain restaurants and Watson's is no different. The inside of Watson's is a little small, but once you realize how big the patio is it makes up for it! There are great drink specials which makes for a perfect happy hour spot! The staff has always been friendly and most nights there has been a good cover band!
Review Source:I've not yet been to their happy hour or even thrown back a pint here.
I go here once or twice a week for lunch. Â They grill it up right there. Â I go for a salad they call the Roadster or the Cobb--with freshly grilled chicken. Â Chicken. Â Grilled. Â Like on a grill. Â Tender, moist, with a nice flavor and freshness and a little bit of char on the outside.
That's a unique concept to most chain places, where 'grilled chicken" tastes microwaved, broiled, boiled, and otherwise sprayed with a smoke flavor to hide its true origins. Â Not this place.
The ambience on the patio area can't be beat, especially on a nice spring day. Â The hardest part of eating lunch here is going back to work. Â We were sitting out there today enjoying the moment and my friend said, "We should come back here after work for happy hour."
There's a thought.
Watsons is a must-go place which has a lil of everything. They have a full bar with happy hours and cheap drinks all week! They have 2 large sections of patio. They even have some comfy couches in this patio area, and if you are lucky you might catch some live music. The last time I was on their patio - twas cool breeze surrounded by trees, some guy singing blurry - o yea beer in my belly!! Â
They also have a small English living room with a fireplace. When the place is not so busy - I like to have my beer in front of the fireplace. There is not much room for santa to arrive as they have a huge clock dumped into it. Not heard the tick tock sound! :P. Folks serving are pretty cool but once in a while I fetch my drinks from the bar. Thurs is the best day to be there... I guess!
For ppl who like being active after a couple of drinks ... there is a pool table! 2 dart lanes! Its fun to aim when you are drunk .. hehe
A full kitchen - with restaurant area + separate patio. I have just had chips out there so no comments on their food.
For me its a great place to be after work .. couple of drinks on my way back home.
This place was way too mellow for me. I get hopped up when I drink and this was more of a sit back at your table quietly and listen to the Jack Johnson-y bongo music while bobbing your head slightly and ignoring your companions kind of place.
However, they do have a big patio with couches and tables. The music pumped outside was so bad, but after a few pints it became funny. The bartender was very cool, but that's not so unusual=)
It's true that there is a very mixed crowd. But they don't really seem to be having much fun, you'll have to make your own fun=)
Apparently, there is food, but the kitchen was closed when we arrived (12 saturday night).
I might go back because it is close to my house, but I'll bring along my lowered expectations.=)
This is the perfect spot if you and a few of your friends want to just kick back and have a few beers with out having to yell over a bunch of people or some obnoxious band playing entirely to loud. Â The service is great and the bartenders are funny, personable, and quick with your order. Â The patio is nice whether in the summer or the winter. Â And the band that plays there most of the time is really good. Â I usually don't like bands in bars but the one that plays there i enjoy.
The prices and drink specials are right on point, and the selection of beer gets you pretty much whatever you're in the mood for. Â And the location is centrally located whether you live in Richmond/Katy like me, or in closer to downtown.
The inside looks like a saloon. Without all the gun slinging and duel slapping that happened in the old west.
If you are looking for a job, a bunch of people that work in oil and gas industry know this is one of the most happening spots this side of highway 6 so come by and shmoose (sp.?) with the finest. west houston has to offer.
decently priced beers and they have a frequent alcoholics card, that I have lost on multiple occasions and had to start over. They have a list of beers that you need to drink and if you get all 20 (doesnt have to be in one sitting), you get a polo shirt. If you do it twice, you get a mug. pretty cool, if you are into drinking heavily.
impossible trivia night - comes from a book called "Impossible Trivia Questions" By A-Hole McSmarty Pants. Â btw Im just guessing on the author...
Pretty cool place to stop after work for a happy hour to avoid traffic or doing menial work around your house.
Cozy after work or work night spot. Â Plenty of beer choices on tab and a place you can go without someone sleazy bothering you. Â Mixed working crowd and great patio with live music. Â Some tvs and sofas inside if you wanna catch a game with some chill ppl. Â Great drink specials and prices, and a variety of food rangog from 7 to 20 bucks. Â Fantastic all around.
Review Source:Watson's is a fantastic little pub on the west side. The happy hour specials are similar (or exactly the same?) as other Baker Street and Sherlock's locations, and they are hard to resist. Check them out:

I joined my hubby and a bunch of his coworkers at Watson's last night and had a great time. Not only are the drinks cheap, but there's entertainment - darts, pool, trivia - and a fantastic patio outside that was packed even though it was 99 sweaty degrees out there. AND the bathrooms were clean, although the stall walls could be a bit higher. I didn't need to know a brunette was facilitating in the stall next to me...but I could see her noggin. Strange! Watson's is a small place, but it feels more cozy than cramped. The bartenders were friendly, although the waitresses milling about were a bit brusque. I'd really prefer if they'd say 'excuse me' when I'm in their way instead of staring me down. A lesson in manners would do them good.
Great little spot for a group or grab a seat on a cozy sofa if it's just the two of you. I'll definitely be back.
Watson's is one the places that I didn't want to add on here, because I want to keep to myself and friends. But this is my favorite pub on the west side. Corner of 1-10 and Hwy 6. This is the most chill bar you can find. Kick ass patio area, live music on weekends. A couple couches inside, great decor, especially the beer bottle chandelier, over 20 beers on tap. Try them all and get a beer stein.
It belongs to the sherlocks, bakers st. family, but not well known. Great mixed crowd, everyone is laid back and easy going. Staff as great. I can't say enough good things about this place. Great Happy hour. I can just go there a relax with a black and tan.
You will also find another mexican with a mohawk there behind the bar.
