So, I don't spend much time at the Levee... mainly just for movies.  But we have grabbed dinner at Bar Louie a few times recently before seeing a film, and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised with a few things.

Their calamari doesn't suck at all! It was crispy, yummy and their cocktail sauce was pretty darn good! What I was amazed with, are their Fish & Chicken Tacos.  The whole dish is so yummy!!! They come filled with either fish or chicken, avocado, onion, cilantro, and feta cheese.  So good! As a side, they give you these black beans and I have no idea what they use to flavor them with but they are the best I've had!  The salsa that comes on the side I could eat by itself, it has this special kick to it, that I havent' had anywhere else.  It's good by itself or on the tacos.

    We will be back!

The key word here is bar. The food was cold, took too long and the waitress was either new or just not any good - drinks were empty all night, food was ordered wrong or not ordered at all and over priced for the quality and the quantity given.

Simply not impressed! Service really rough and quality not the best. Don't think I would return based on all of the service issues.

I've been here a number of times just because it is one of the only places at Newport on the Levee that is consistently open. I keep coming back, and I keep getting disappointed.

Bar Louie is the epitome of a chain restaurant. They are a mass producing machine of mediocrity, and sometimes less than that. I've had the burger, the chicken fingers, the tots you name it and I have never left feeling good about spending money here.

The last time we went was the straw that broke the camels back. Went here for a drink before a movie, and it was happy hour so we ordered up some martinis. Little did we know they were 10.50! Holy Mother. That is insane. The prices are not listed on the menu and they are never sure about what the prices actually are when you ask.

My advice, skip this place all together and head to Mitchell's. Another chain, but there is really nothing else over there and they have cheap drinks, and a hell of a bar menu.

    Blarg.

I love this place! I celebrated part of my 21st birthday here. Thursday is Ladies' Night. They have a $5 select martinis and 1/2 price bottles of select wines. Their Happy Hour is pretty wonderful, too. You get a lot of beers on draft for a decent price, and all of their martinis are then priced at $5, not just select. I don't recommend any chocolate martinis. I know it sounds gross to begin with, but I thought to give it a try since I was new to drinking. I recommend the Tickled Pink or whatever it's called.

Our server was pretty wonderful. He didn't ignore us like most places do. He was really fast and we didn't have to wait at all for anything.

I didn't eat any food here, so I can't comment on that.

Overall, I love this place and highly recommend. I will be coming back for sure.

I've never quite been able to decide what type of place Bar Louie is.

It's not quite trashy, it's not quite classy, it's not particularly amazing in the food or beverage department; but what it is maybe just convenient.

The vibe is strives for is that of a classier lounge-type feel, and it succeeds to an extent, but it never quite gets there.

Bar Louie just suffers and succeeds by being a Levee establishment. It's too loud for a lounge but just a hair too classy to be a straight sports bar.

The getups that the waitresses have to wear always cracks me up because the uniforms are just shy of being Hooter's outfits a lot of the time. Not that I'm a prude, I just think it's funny that the place can't quite figure out what it wants to be.

I do enjoy their $1 burger specials on Wednesday though. And you can get a free appetizer if you use the Yelp mobile app there.

All in all, it's not a bad place and I do go there often, but it's definitely not one of my top favs.

Bar Louie is fancy bar food. While the food is always good (although sometimes cold), the service has been mediocre. My past  two visits we've had waitresses who just seem scatter brained.

I have always loved Bar Louie they have excellent food! Especially the tater tots! The Mushroom burger is mouth watering. It always seems a bit drafty in there though that is my only dislike but if you bring a jacket or sweatshirt you will feel warm and toasty!  Enjoy a nice sandwich or a brew if you like this place is a must see!

Of of the best places to eat in Newport, this is my personal favorite!  The bartenders and servers are so friendly/quirky/cool that it sets this restaurant apart from any old mall-restaurant. I really like the clean and refined atmosphere. Most importantly, the food will not disappoint.  I've had a few entrees from the blackened salmon, to regular old burgers  and fries and I've always felt as though they took things to the next level for flavor and quality. For something to be four stars, it has to be a place I get excited about going to and a place I have found myself recommending to others. Congratulations, Bar Louie...I'm a fan.

    A few other tips:
I think they have a special deal on Wednesdays for the burgers.
    They will accommodate large groups.
    Ask about drink specials.

Okay, like Paige, I am sometimes hesitant to go to Bar Louie. Why? It can get very pricey when you start drinking or eating at non-happy hour/special times. Thus, I recommend going on Wednesday and getting a great burger for a very very low price, even with lots of toppings. Also, use your smartphone and "check in" to BL and you will hopefully be rewarded with the free appetizer deal like I was. I had the huge nachos platter that is normally $11! I could have just eaten that. I do enjoy the patio as it offers fresh air and isn't as loud and one can look down onto the courtyard and people watch. Oh, their martinis are pretty awesome. Yes they are pricey, but oh well. Recommend the Kiss My Aztec, among others.

Less than impressed... I've been here twice so far with varied experiences but the last has left a bad taste in my mouth for this bar. Went with a friend on a Friday night before a movie showing and the experience was horrible. I will gladly point out that I allotted extra time because of it being a busy Friday night and we did get seated right away so that was a plus. It took 10 minutes for a waitress to realize we hadnt been served. She came over and got our drink order and 10 minutes later we received one of our drinks, another 5 after that we received the other one. We both ordered chocolate cake and having an entire hour before our movie we definitely expected to be done and out of there by then. Watching our waitress, I noticed she only had 3 tables (us being one of them) and she only checked on us every 15 minutes. We have now been there for 25 minutes.. 45 minutes and she finally comes over to say she doesnt know whats taking the cake so long... 55 minutes she apologizes again but no cake... 65 minutes (we are now almost late for our movie) a waitress comes by with one piece of chocolate cake?? Our waitress comes over 5 minutes after and we tell her to take it back and get us our bills because we are now late for the movie. That takes her another 5 and no apologies, no discounts, she just drops them down and says good night.
After having been a waitress for 10 years I will say that I know what its like to be busy and overwhelmed, I will also say that a lot of our unfortunate experience was due to the waitress... but there is no reason it should take 35 minutes for two pieces of chocolate cake... They are going to have to do one hell of a job to get my patronage back. :(

My wife, two children and I stopped by on Mother's Day for a late lunch. Bar Louie was not our first choice, but lines at other sit-down restaurants at the Levee were too long. We were able to sit right down...and 10 minutes later had not even SEEN a server. I asked the bartender if she could send over a server and she said walked to the kitchen. Another 10 minutes, and no server.

I finally went and stood outside the kitchen to grab the first employee I could find. A young server came to our table and apologized profusely. She took our drink orders and brought the drinks 5 or so minutes later. We ordered appetizers and lunch...the apps came out in about 10 minutes (pretzel sticks) but the lunch took another 35 minutes (for a personal pizza, a grilled cheese and 2 burgers).

The server was, again, very apologetic but when we asked to see a manager, she informed us that there was no manager on site. This was confirmed when I asked another employee.

The food waspretty  good, but this was by FAR the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant and there was no one to even raise my concerns with. Thanks for the HORRIBLE Mother's Day!!!

I went here for the famous Dollar Burger Night on a Wednesday a few years ago. I haven't been back since, and it's not because it was bad, but because it was unmemorable.

I had heard a lot about this deal, but it's not as good once you figure out the deal. The burger, as in the patty, is a dollar. Everything else is added, so if you want to make a decent burger, you have to pay an average price. The burger was solid, but not great. I just got that and fries, walked away satisfied, and then mostly forgot about it. There you go...

The service at Bar Louie was awesome!  As it was Easter, we ventured in late in the evening after an afternoon Reds game which may explain the great service as not a lot of folks were in the restaurant.  The food was so-so, nothing I would write to Grandma about.  Drinks were of average price.  It appeared as though Happy Hour would be the best time to go, the prices looked amazing.  Apparently at some point in the week they have super cheap burgers and that would probably be a great day to go as well.  Overall, we had an average experience but I will probably eat/drink elsewhere when I am next in town.

I think Bar Louie got rid of most of the staff that were causing problems. I started going back once a week or so before my maternity leave, and have been back a couple of times since returning to work and it's like a whole new place.

I haven't waited longer than 30 seconds for a drink (not kidding - I totally used my stopwatch function on my phone).  And, the staff is really going out of their way to get to know regular patrons.  I haven't had to wait to be served or wait on food in my last 10 visits or so.  Even better - if Lance (the most awesome bartender/server ever) sees me in the Levee prior to lunch, he will ask if I'm coming there, what time and if I want my usual. If I say yes - it's ready for me when I walk in. You can't beat that.

Thanks for doing whatever it is you did Bar Louie. I'm coming back for lunch!

Whenever my friends suggest going to Bar Louie, I hesitate. First, it's a chain inside The Levee, which means it's overpriced. I also can't recall having a completely awesome time here...although I can't say I've had a miserable experience here either.

Bar Louie is exactly that halfway bar: 3 out of 5 stars.

POSITIVES:  It's a big venue, great for parties or groups.  It has a stellar view of the Cincinnati skyline.

    NEGATIVES:
    - Smoking. It doesn't matter where you sit, it's still a nuisance. If you're there late night on a weekend, it'll make your eyes burn.
    - The food isn't anything to write home about. It's bar food with fancy names. Everything on the menu is $10 or more, including the appetizers. I even saw macaroni and cheese for $10. If you're starving and must order something, go with the tater tots.
    - Although the venue is big, there's too much furniture. It's easy to bump into other tables or navigate the aisle to the bar. This is especially problematic in the pool table area.
    - Not enough servers. The waitress always seems to disappear after our food is delivered. We have to flag her down if we need refills or the check.

As for the drinks, they are way overpriced. I ordered two mixed drinks, which normally would cost me $8.00. My tab at Bar Louie: $15.00, almost double.

Bar Louie isn't on my list of places I'd recommend for an outing, but if you end up there, it isn't the end of the world.

This is a place I only go when it is happy hour.  The drinks are way to overpriced to go at any other time.  I generally walk right past here and head to Brothers if it is not happy hour.

On the other hand, I do enjoy their happy hour.  What is great is they have a late night happy hour during the week!  M-F  5-7pm  AND 10-midnight!  Great place to go for a drink after a movie when you don't need to work the next day (or you are just a party animal like me!)  $3 drafts, $4 wines, $5 specialty martinis and half priced apps.  Great deals- and their martinis are to die for at $5 and skip-able at full price ($10).

Wednesday is another time to hit up Bar Louie for their $1 burger night.... $1 for a basic burger and 50 cents for additional toppings... Load up your burger for about $4.  Also, share an order of their loaded tater tots!  They are AMAZING!

I often find this place a little too loud.  It can be hard to hear the people in your party over the music in the later hours of the evening.  Service is general good, not great.

Try this place out for happy hour or on a Wednesday!

Bar Louie is a bro bar in Kentucky, so expect bros, smoking and bar food. Normally this wouldn't appeal to me, however, the bar food is actually really good  (try the tacos) and they have these super cute booths that can be very romantic on a date. If you don't mind screaming at your date because like I said, its a bro bar so its loud. So...the bro bar for dates?

Great place to go for Dollar Burgers!! Nice spacious place. Nice big bar. Great place for outdoor seating with fire too!
I have been here a couple of times and I have only ordered the dollar burgers and vodka tonics. I usually order the portobello mushroom burgers with guacamole. The burgers are a great deal because they are the standard size burger verses a slider size.
They have a lot of seating because I have never had to wait.
The bathrooms are not super clean.

Now that I have had an opportunity to experience both facets of Bar Louie, I realize that it...isn't what it could be.

The first time out, I was just there chilling out. I recommend you get a Raging Bull if, like me, you aren't an alcohol drinker. It's good, flavorful, and carbonated, but it isn't a regular soda, either. Bar Louie also has plenty of TV's, usually tuned to some sports event or some such. That's a win there. If this were my only experience, Bar Louie would've had a five star review in the bag.

But, I didn't want to leave it there. I went back a week later, this time to experience the food. Maybe it was just that it was Saturday night and the place was packed. Maybe it was that there was again decent college football on the tube. Whatever it was...my dining experience did NOT measure up with my drinking and lounging experience.

Oh, sure. The Mario sandwich I had was delicious, as were the fries. But the problem was the service. I was out alone. There's no way that Bar Louie should be so understaffed that it takes 10-20 minutes between the time I sit down and the time I get to order. If I hadn't been as hungry as I was (and believe me, I was pretty damn hungry), I would've left. Service was just slow as all get out. I was NOT happy. I don't know that I can blame the guy that served me (and I still tipped him well). Instead, I'll chalk it up to being busy on a Saturday night.

For now, Bar Louie gets a four (compromise between the 5 for the lounging and a 3 for dining), with the stipulation that I'll return sometime in the next while on a weekday afternoon to try eating there again in off peak hours. If service then is better, this could end up as a 5 after all.

Dollar Burger night is the ONLY reason you should eat here. Everything else is over priced in every way. Most of the wait staff could care less about you as on multiple occasions I have had long wait times, the last of which was 20min before anyone came to our table. I understand it gets crowded, but even a "hey, I'll be right there" would have been nice. Eventually a bus boy became our server. The water comes straight from the mop bucket too.

The food is Meh at best. Never served truly hot, but not exactly cold. it is however, one of the cheaper places on the Levee to eat.

This chain is okay - it is okay food, usually randomly busy with annoying people or weird dating groups which are awkward and fun to watch. Really, this would be nothing special and I would never come back.

BUT they have draft Woodchuck. And the pretzel sticks (called bavarian pretzels but they are nothing but the pretzel sticks that a lot of restaurants use) come with this delicious cinnamon butter I cannot get over. I come here for those two things and leave happy.

In terms of food - I highly suggest the mac and cheese. It's the best thing other than the pretzels in my opinion and quite filling.

We went to Bar Louie for a celebration. The staff quickly rearranged tables to accommodate the large group. As the group arrived, the service was very good. Not particularly personable, but really very good. No one at the table ever waited for a refill.

Several appetizers were purchased. I only tasted the Bruschetta Pomodoro. Served in a monstrously huge martini glass, the tomatoes were fresh and tasty.

Everything sounds great so far, right? I'd agree, but we were there for drinks (mostly) and I enjoy having a beer when I'm out. The beer selection is pitiful. Not one out-of-the-ordinary beer on the menu. This is a bar, right? They should have a better selection.

The service was easily a four. The food a three. The beer selection a one.

If friends want to go here again in the future, I will, but I won't look forward to it.

I recently visited here on a weekday for lunch, so I realize this wasn't exactly primetime for Bar Louie.  Their target demographic is definitely not 30 somethings out for lunch and a movie. However, I thought that they would be able to manage since they are, after all, open for lunch.

We were seated at a table with a view of the river that was sticky and peeling.  It looked as if they had, at one point, tried to refinish the tables and failed.  Anyway, it was not exactly appealing, and I spent the time waiting for our server to show up peeling up balls of sticky finish.

Once he did finally show up and give us our menus, we were saddened to see that we had just missed the cut off for lunch specials (which ended at 2) and were stuck with a pricey dinner menu, which honestly didn't look all that appealing.  The siren call of tater tots, though, was strong and we decided to stick it out.

That was, until my friend was cut by a shard of glass stuck on the edge of the table.  This wasn't any lone shard of glass either.  The table was one that could be unfolded to make it larger, and a whole bunch of broken glass was stuck in the hinged edge.  We decided that this was our signal to exit and enjoyed an enjoyable meal at Claddagh instead.

Stopped in here with my boyfriend to pass the time before our flight home and to watch Game 7 of the NBA play-offs (Mem vs OKC).

Our waitress was very friendly. We asked for her to turn the game on and asked to switch seats to get a view of the TV. I spilled a huge glass of water with ice and she cleaned it up, brought more water, and switched out our silverware.

Being from the northeast, it's strange to see people still smoking at the bar. It's also very strange to see people do a double take as we both whipped out our MACs -- I guess people think it's odd to want to pass the time on laptops.

We ordered the nachos with carnitas -- it was very cheesy and pretty good. We also ordered a side of regular fries (they were OK, not very salty or flavorful) and tator tots. We could barely finish but I managed to stuff myself with the fries.

This place was OK. The bar space is nice (except for the smoking at the bar). Good to catch a game if in the area.

We come here fairly often... so there must be something we like...

I mean, the food options are decently interesting but nothing break through.  There are decent drink prices...

Yes they allow smoking, which is always a downer for me...

Mostly we come for $1 burger night on wednesdays, I recommend going that night, except when I want to go because then my wait will be longer, j/k.  I do love $1 burger night!

I've been here only once before my visit today, when the restaurant first opened...at the time, I found their wine list unimpressive and overpriced and I was only ordering a cocktail because I was early to meet a friend so I can't comment on the food for that visit....

They (Bar Louie) recently gave our office coupons and a few co-workers and I decided, "what the heck?"  A "seat yourself" lunch in one of the largest rooms I've been in...did not appear to be a "non smoking section" as there were ashtrays on each and every table, booth, etc.  Our server was quick enough to take our drink order and our meal order, but she never came back--for any drink service nor to inquire as to how the food was, if we needed anything additional-- and only did so when we decided to stand up and put our coats on to signal we were leaving.  I ordered the italian type sub (Luigi, maybe?) and it was good.  My co-workers got the other one...Mario(?) and said it was good, but I noted they both kept adding salt to the sandwich as they went along.

So, just...meh.  Fine to try out with the coupon--SO glad I had a coupon and wasn't paying full price.

Went to Bar Louie again last night, and the server told me that now a drink is required with any $1 burger purchase. Since Bar Louie's drinks are overpriced, and their happy hour discount marginal, it's no longer quite the deal it was.

*sigh* Why must all good things come to an end?

Between Bar Louie and the rest of the watering holes in the Levee, frat boys throughout the tri-state area should have all of their bro-fest needs fulfilled. I was only here for an hour before a comedy show, but here are my observations.

Bar Louie is a typical chain bar. It is dimly lit, with a great deal of seating, mixed between booths and tables. We were at a few high tops pushed together near the bar. Unfortunately, since we were adjacent to the bar, I was bumped into whenever someone walked through the space. It looks like in the back they have a pretty decent view of Cincinnati and the Ohio River through large windows.

They have a pretty good selection of drinks, with a few surprising beer offerings like Stone and Rogue. I know, not too exotic, but I'll take what I can get. As with everything else on the Levee, prices are higher than I'm comfortable with, but happy hour looks like a good deal. Service wasn't very good, but I think that's on par with other larger bars.

I didn't get food, but people apparently rave about the tater tots. People got burgers, which didn't look bad either.

Bar Louie isn't the worst bar in the world. It's just not my scene. I'll more than likely never visit again, just because I don't get over to the Levee too often.

I only spent about a half hour here. I came out to meet up with a crowd of Yelpers, arrived later than expected, and wasn't really acknowledged by the wait staff. The gal showed up, took my drink order, and took off immediately after she brought it to me, never to be seen again until we were leaving. I guess I didn't look hungry.

Atmosphere wise, seemed typical. Nothing too grandiose or exciting, just a modern, noisy bar with flatscreens, randomly placed high top tables, and meanie waitresses who assume you're not hungry.

It is no secret that I have a dislike, one might even say a pent-up rage, towards Newport on the Levee. It's nothing they did, per say, just who they are. I don't like the paying for parking, I don't like the throngs of idiot kids who seem to live in this place, I don't like the jacked up prices for everything and I certainly don't like their tagline: "A World Away from the Everyday." Yeah, see, those things I just mentioned, I deal with them everyday. This place is those things jacked up on crack.

However, if you are at Newport on the Levee and if you need somewhere to get a bite to eat, and I must stress if, but if you are, Bar Louie is not your worst choice in the world.

This is sort of the go-to-spot for large groups of people. It is NOT recommended as a pre-meal spot for a date (like say, you need somewhere to eat before a movie), as it's loud and crowded (especially on the weekend) and the wait can be forever (as they don't take reservations). However, if you're hanging out with a big group, this is a nice spot. There are snag-them-if-you-can tables near the bar that are open for everyone while you wait and then they'll call you when yours is ready.

I went with a group of 12 and they told me it'd be an hour, and sure enough, it was. In the meantime, we ordered some drinks and some appetizers and it was fine. They're food is kind of ... meh, the same you get at a place like Friday's - comfort food that's never going to be the best you've eaten. Don't get me wrong, they're burger is good, but it's nothing to write home about (although I must mention, the loaded tater tots - dear god, the loaded tater tots!)

This place is full of little annoyances, like the fact they give you plastic silverware if you don't ask for metal. What? Or it's so crowded that it's hard to get your waitress' attention. They do try their best, it's just very difficult.

Bar Louie is not my first choice for eating out, and the Levee is nowhere near my first choice for ANYTHING, but being here with friends at our table, it was indeed kind of nice.

Fast service, good food, friendly server. We had our heart set on a pre-movie meal at Dewey's, but they had a 40 minute wait (a Saturday night). Luckily, Bar Louie was directly across the hall and we got seated right away, near the entrance. We ordered our food, and the server brought out the bill with the meal because she knew we had a show to catch. I had a Vesuvio Melt and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

Bar Louie is one of those Buffalo Wild Wings-type bar chains that are everywhere. But you go because you know it's a solid good time. It was my first time at the Levee location but I'll definitely be back. I want to enjoy the river view and burger night. And to get a Frequent Diner Club membership, of course :)

I've never had a bad experience at Bar Louie - I've yet to find a dish I haven't devoured without complaint, I've enjoyed the drinks and specials, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The view of the Ohio from the abundance of huge windows is great (and every seat in the main dining area has an unobstructed view) and the bar is large and well stocked.

My favorite dish at Bar Louie is the Bavarian Pretzel appetizer. For the record, my favorite pretzels are at Hofbrauhaus. I love those so much that I'd request them as my last meal if I was on death row. Bar Louie's pretzels are in stick form (still soft) and have three dippers for it: cinnamon/sugar butter, cheese, and -- my personal favorite -- honey mustard. Pair this with a beer and you're good to go.

Another fun fact is that they have slimmed-down cocktails on their menu. I got the skinny mojito and it was pretty good, and 1/3 the Calories.

This is the perfect place for a date, a large group, happy hour drinks with coworkers, and everything in between.

Best Feature: The food and location!!
Worst Feature: Ordering from the bar can be difficult.

Okay, so this definitely tops my list of favorite places to go. I've been here MANY times, and I can honestly say I don't think I've had an unpleasant experience yet!

Bar Louie does a great job offering monthly/seasonal specials - I love their $1 burger specials they have! I've only managed to be able to take advantage of it once, but the ability to get a great burger for a low price and customize it to your tastes is always a huge plus in my book.

I love their drink specials as well - my friends and I are always looking to save money, so the beer and drink specials is always a great option!

They also offer Happy Hour specials, which is great since they offer them at later times - often we don't make it down until later in the night, so it is fantastic to have a place to go to that is night-owl-friendly!

I love the food here - one of my personal favorites is the chicken quesadilla, but I've also had their burgers, sandwiches, and salads! Even a pizza. :-) I've never had a dish I can say was unsatisfactory.

The service there is normally always fabulous! I've only had one or two times I felt the waiter/waitress was rather inattentive; one of those times, however, the hostess who seated us saw us still waiting for assistance, ran over and apologized profusely. She immediately got us drinks and explained the miscommunication.

You can find me down here most weekends :-) It's a lovely place, and it definitely is great if you want to go anywhere downtown (especially the river!). The beautiful scenery and local establishments, such as Newport Aquarium, Mitchell's Fish Market, and more, make it a great place to go to! Not to mention there are other great restaurants as well as the movies on the Levee.

I'm a HUGE fan of Bar Louie! Definitely love this place and will always be up for a return visit.

Bar Louie is a good kind of bar for any situation. Once of those solid if unspectacular venues.

The atmosphere is one of being a jazz bar, from the paintings on the well to the large booths with tall backs. When you get in (and almost everytime I've went there has been a wait), you realize that the atmosphere may not be what it seems. It can get loud and conversations can turn to yelling on rare occasions.

The food itself is pretty good. The dollar burgers on Wednesday nights are the best thing about it, but the toppings and condiments cost more, so if you like a lot of things on your burger, be prepared to pay 2 dollars most likely.

Drinks get on the pricey side for me, but the happy hour is a really good deal.

It's a good place for work parties as well as dates. The staff is very nice and very accommodating.

All in all, a good place, but it's not a place I see myself going to all the time.

Great happy hour deals. I would recommend sticking to the Martinis (dirty, esp.) and beer.  They don't muddle the mojitos - so stay away from that page of the menu.

I give the food about a 5.2 out of 10.  Not horrible, but really nothing special.  How high can your expectations be when the Hummus & Tzatziki app is next to Chicken Nachos and Tempura Shrimp on the menu?

Bar Louie is a decent place to go when down on the levee. they have upscale bar food/menu items with cool twists for a chain place. The Tater Tots are awesome, I really like the Vesuvio Melt, and have had some other things like a club sandwich and southwestern chicken salad that were pretty good.

sometimes the place can get a bit douche-y but whatever. thats not really ever my final destination so its easy to ignore. Its definitely a good place to go for some late night dining.

    Burger Quest Review:
    bar louie $1 burger night

    Burger: 2
pre-formed cooked medium well. not too dry, had good flavor for what it was

    Bun: 2.5
    untoasted kaiser roll, average

    Toppings: 3
comes with lettuce. got blue cheese dressing, poorly sliced tomatoes, good pickles

    Accoutrements: 4
$3 sam adams, the best tater tots ever. the chicken nachos are really good.

    Atmosphere: 1
$1 burger night at bar louie is the WORST. it's packed, the service is slow to get to you when you first sit down, and its packed with amateurs. To our left was a table full of nerds, one of which brought in his own powerade, and then on our right a girl barely 21 threw up on herself. but dammit i had to have some tater tots and melissa wanted the chicken nachos.

normally, bar louie is just ok to a good time.

    Overall: 2.5
average, and its only because of the tots. the dollar burger and dollar burger night make it like a nice cafeteria burger, but the good news is the normal burger is a lot bigger and better because its not on a freakin assembly line. still, its not the first place you'll want to go for a burger.

We ran across the Purple People Bridge right before Party in the Park officially ended on Wednesday to enjoy Bar Louie's weekly Burger Madness special.  This was my first trip to Bar Louie and I was amazed at the size of the restaurant, it appears to be much smaller from the exterior in the Levee complex.

Half of our group got to the restaurant at 9:10 and were able to instantly secure a large table overlooking the river to accommodate the 10 of us.  I was concerned that our waitress was not going to be able to handle our group, especially after it increased to 15, but she was efficient and friendly and got our ridiculous drink order (I'm pretty sure we each ordered a different crazy cocktail) out in minutes.

My Strawberry Basil cocktail was delicious and not too sweet.  My guy ordered the "beer of the month," Bud Light Lime, and was quickly told there were only two bottles left so he was able to order both.

We filled out our "Burger Cards" (if you haven't been on a Wednesday the cards are on the table and let you create your own burger at .50 cents for each topping) and handed them to our waitress.  Ten minutes later our piping hot and huge burgers came out exactly as ordered with baskets of tater tots and seasoned fries.  The burgers cost only $1 for the patty, bun, and lettuce on Wednesdays from 5pm-close.  What a deal, we were stuffed after eating them!

Our cocktails made up the majority of our bill ($8 each), three of us paid together for $33.

I dig on Bar Louie.  I've visited here a few times.  It ends up being a good spot to catch up with friends when I'm visiting Cincinnati.

I cannot really knock on the crowd as I go here to catch up with old friends as opposed to meeting new ones.

Try Wednesday nights!  Cheap burgers and reasonable drinks!  If I remember correctly $1 for the burger and $3.50 for my beer.  Nice.  I'll stop by on my next trip to town.
